Advance Auto Parts looked up the part numbers for my vehicle which I purchased. It didn't occur to me that I should have looked up my own part numbers to verify because I thought their system should be accurate. Buyer beware, they were completely wrong. not just once, but multiple times! My truck uses a M1-212A filter and 15W40 oil. The first time I purchased oil/ filter from them, they pulled 0W20 oil and M1-102A Filter. The second time, they pulled the same oil and a M1-110A filter. Sad part is that PepBoys didn't think to verify the parts either and installed them anyways. What is wrong with these companies? No telling the damage that was done to my 2024 Duramax. 2 lessons learned here: #1 Do your homework yourself when buying parts and do not rely on the store computers or employees to pull the right parts. #2 Don't buy from Advanced Auto Parts online or in-store!!!!

I came to visit RC Automotive because of a repair accident that occurred at another repair shop…read more Even though it was late afternoon like 6 p.m. when I first visited, Ken welcomed me warmly without showing any discomfort, and he explained the condition of my vehicle and the necessary repairs in great detail and with honesty, which gave me a great sense of trust. What I found particularly impressive was that he did not simply stop at repairing the car, but also took the time to think together about the issues that came from the previous repair accident as if it were his own matter. I was also very satisfied with how he did not recommend unnecessary repairs and accurately addressed only the necessary parts, and how he suggested reasonable options when it came to parts. The work was carried out very cleanly, and although the vehicle was already in good condition before the accident, it is now in an even better state. Ken also provided a separate warranty for the work that was done, and afterward actively checked on the condition and helped with continuous follow-up management. Since my first visit, I have visited several more times, but not once have I doubted his professionalism and skill. Came in on Wednesday because battery light came on. They ran codes and said the battery seemed to…read morebe fine but it might be the alternator (which they dont do). Also said I needed an oil change and spark plugs. Got Alternator done at Firestone and everything was good. Drove straight to Jiffy Lube for oil change and spark plugs. They eventually called me outside to tell me that they did the oil change, but then they did the spark plugs and now the car was making a loud repetitive knocking noise. The first employee asked what I wanted to do, and asked if I wanted them to put the old spark plugs back. I was still in shock and then the manager came over (bald guy). He explained the noise again and I asked if they put the old plugs back will it stop. Manager guy says they dont even know if they're usable because they have been disposed of and contaminated now, but like, the first employee suggested it to begin with? Then he was like "we're gonna have to move your car to the other bay because we're busy right now." So more waiting, and they tell me that the car will need to be towed out. Like what? What the heck is going on? So now I'm waiting for the tow truck, and another employee (younger) comes over to me to apologize and try to explain different scenarios as to what the problem is. But it was grasping at straws. It could be this, it could be that. But at the end of the day, something happened in that Jiffy Lube bay. I left Firestone and easily drove over to Jiffy Lube with a quiet, working engine. And somewhere in whatever Jiffy Lube did to it, my engine became undrivable. After nearly 4 hours at Jiffy Lube, the tow truck finally arrived and we towed it straight back to Firestone. They're still doing the diagnostic and its looking like an engine swap is going to be needed now, but they also asked what the heck did Jiffy Lube do because when the car left Firestone that morning it was fine, and now 5 hours later after Jiffy Lube did something it was not fine. Oh, and Jiffy Lube charged me for their labor that occured while they were 'working' on the car. I'm still waiting on official diagnostic tests but next step will contacting the CA Bureau of Automotive Repair.
