We ordered 2 pizzas. My son's collegues ordered after us. They received their pizza, had time to eat, and were out the door. Within 20 minutes. It took us 45 minutes to get our 2 pizzas. I'd like to start by saying.... My bad... We have driven by this place for YEARS and talked about trying it numerous times, and just.... didn't. I have remedied that mistake though. The pizza is really good. Everything tastes fresh, the prices are reasonable and it's pretty close to us, so logically we will return. Also, the staff is really nice. So why not 5 stars you ask? It's the wait time. Wow. We ordered an hour in advance, were told it would be ready in an hour, got there an hour later and still waited another 20 minutes. It wasn't like we ordered a party worth of food. It was one pizza and a sandwich to try. They currently don't have dine-in, and looks like it's not just COVID restrictions. It appears they are going through a remodel, which is fine, but I can't imagine going in and ordering with wait times like that. Advise would be to order in advance, and maybe show up a little late, chances are they food won't be ready anyway. My plan for the future? See sentence above. In all honesty, good pizza at a fair price is a good recipe to keep me coming back. Don't lose sight of that, everything else is fixable. read more

A very intriguing name and sign on the side of the building. We have long wanted to try their pizza. "Blackstone, it's gotta be something different". We have had their delivery once prior. The pizza, wings and salad were OK. Very standard pizza place pizza with nothing significant (i.e. "crunchy crust, fresh toppings, etc.) to mention except the "melt-your-face-off" wings. They did in-fact 'melt your face off'. This last trip was for take out. Oh my! As it was said by my son, "the most dysfunctional kitchen I have ever seen". We arrived at the time of our expected take-out pick-up time only to wait an additional 45 minutes amongst the additional 12 people waiting in a very small ordering area next to a small inside dining area (CLOSED) with no NO BATHROOM available to the patrons. When I went in to bring my son's cell phone to him (he's gonna be there a while) I saw what appeared to be a large diverse family operation with several younger workers (ages 13-15?) recklessly servicing an ever hostile crowd awaiting their orders just like us. The place was a fiasco with seemingly no kitchen leadership other than the owner having no idea who's pizza is who's pizza. Our pizza was re-ordered again once we got there and they made it while we waited. Then to get home with our pizza, wings and salad and sit to a very "nothing" experience. I ordered a pizza from here and a couple of their Gyros sandwich plates (comes with fries and I added salads). The pizza was OK, it wasn't bad and it wasn't great, but their Gyros sandwiches were excellent and a nice portion size for the money they charge. I think these guys are pretty good. To set the right expectation, they are more of a New York style Pizza parlor. All in all it's nice to see local businesses doing well. Recommended. read more

Didn't think it could get better but when we came in person to pick up our order, they were super cool and their arcade games are legit! I haven't seen the Police Trainer game in years! It's one of my faves! They have three TVs, hip music, skate ramps on their ceilings, clean and modern dining tables and chairs, clean floors, neat Blackstone artwork. And as stated in my previous review, the food is BOMB and the owner and staff truly care about quality! My fave pizza is the pesto shrimp. And you gotta try their garlic knots! I don't get all the bad reviews here. The pizza was very good. My mom was visiting from out of town and she picked up a pizza from here. My mom is very very hard to please, even when it comes to simple comfort foods, and she really enjoyed the pizza. I was pretty surprised how good the pricing was compared to other pizzerias in the area. The pizza here is great, we will for sure be returning here when my mom is back visiting us again. read more

We love a good thin crust pizza, and Blackstone Pizza fits the bill. The crust is just thin enough and the toppings are delicious, with a huge variety of toppings to choose from. They offer three size: 14 inch, 18 inch and 23 inch or jumbo, and they mean jumbo. If you order the jumbo make sure it will fit in your car, it is seriously huge! We always get the pizza to go, and they are always hot and ready when they say they will be ready. read more

Pizza was not even after it being warmed up, the manager ( or owner- not sure), barely any sauce and tasted like toast with cheese on top. The manager had a bandage on his finger with no gloves, and serving food with lukewarm customer service. the place just had a dirty vibe and was dark and dingy. The staff was rude, chaotic kitchen, no flow, and people were sweaty and overall had a dirty vibe. So gross- felt nauseous after I ate. Can't believe this place is allowed to be open, and surprised the health department hasn't shut it down. read more

Uh oh what happened? This place used to be better then ordering from one of the major corps. I liked both their salads and the crust on their pizzas. I rated it as A OK. Well now... it seems like they stopped caring. Worse offense I have seen is the pizza slice case is wide open, with everything from dirty aprons, to paperwork, to a lonely gnat flying in and out. There were only four options to choose from and ONE vegetarian which was cheese. I almost just walked out. I decided we both needed something quick so I got us each a slice for 6 bucks. They reheat them so the crust is nice again but the amount of grease on top of each one was enough to know I might need anti acid pills later. After this experience I think Ill get a slice from 7 11 or walk across the street to the competition. Sad you guys seem to stop caring, you have PRIME location where you guys are located. read more

A new challenger enters the San Marcos Pizza fray. Blackstone pizza was a pleasant surprise . The inside rooms are set up like a Quonset hut with the bowed ceiling. There were a few flat screens tuned on sports. Overall, they really have a nice setup inside. Definitely okay to dine in. A few thoughts on my first visit... - Grrrizzz Pizza *Ham, Bacon, Sausage, white onion, and pepperoni*. This was a good tasting thin pizza. The seasoned toppings made it salty, but the crust was a huge winner. - I really like the fact they have slices to try. Pizza was right on. I grew up with New York and New Jersey pizza as the standard. I worked in Verona, Jersey (88%) Italian, and this pizza was a refreshing reminder of those earlier years. Finally, a pizza that's got it! We will be returning for sure. read more

3.5... This is borderline to a 4 star rating. I wished we had stayed to dine in, but had to take our slices to go. The staff is friendly and the establishment is well kept and had a nice ambiance. They had some really cool combos, and so we were excited to try something new. 2 slices and a drink combo for $6. Had a BOGO and tried the following slices: -Colorblind: Cheese pizza. Plain and simple and it was good! -Da Island Style: Had kahlua pork/spam as toppings. I found this to be a bit salty for my palate. -The Grizzzz: Similar to a combo pizza, YUM! -The Street Taco: Loved the avo on here. Wish there was more!!! It's in the shopping center next to the dairy with ample parking. It's by Mission Hills HS, so I can imagine all the kiddies coming for a bite when school lets out. They'd make a killing if they were by either of the colleges. I'm not sure how much traffic this place gets, but I hope they do well! Did a delivery of an antipasto salad, Greek salad and Margarita pizza. Overall not to bad, salad wasn't anything special. The margarita pizza doesn't have a red sauce. But the crust is spot on. Delivery driver must have had some issues, hence the picture of the pizza. Price was a little steep, $40 for two salads and a 14" pizza, not including tip. I'm tired of Blackstone's Pizza's controlling ways! You're not the boss of me, Blackstone! These dudes are the rudest, worst customer service-y pizza dudes in San Marcos. They are rude on the phone. They're rude when you walk in. every time I call - like every single time I call - I'm always put on hold for just a weird amount of time... always like a minute plus and when they do answer the phone, Rude-Stone Pizza staff always makes me feel like I'm just the biggest POS in the world...like I'm annoying them with my money. they usually answer the phone in this short, clippy voice - real quick, terse answers, never friendly, never "Hi, thanks for calling Black Stone Pizza, what can I make for you?" I'm not looking for them to gush and fawn over me and I'm not calling them to socialize...but jeez maybe a little professionalism? I mean, these guys aren't putting out amazing product, they're small and local...you'd think they would try to go the extra mile and be super friendly. As for the pizza itself - it's average. It's a little thinner crust and, honestly, the crust is probably the best part because it's also hella greasy...we always take a ton of paper towels and just soak up all the grease. The toppings are NOT generous and the pepperoni is a little rubbery but, hey, it's cheap and let's be honest everyone loves a cheap pizza (especially when you have kids). But let me just take a second to talk about Blackstone's weird policies... They have a special - which on paper seems pretty good - 2 large 2 toppings for $20... but unlike any other pizza place that's cool and friendly, Whack-Stone Pizza do NOT let you do half and half toppings. So if you want, say, a half Hawaiian/Half pepperoni and sausage, too bad - they're not having it. You can't make any adjustments or customize your pizza! That doesn't even make sense as a business practice! let's not even talk about whyv small business should try to do everything in your power to please your customers - Blackstone Pizza ain't trying to hear all that noise - but it doesn't even make sense to NOT give someone half a pizza with, say, pepperoni and sausage and a half pizza with like double olive or some other cheap topping? I'm assuming pepperoni, sausage, ham, chicken... are costly compared to olive or jalapenos, right? maybe not, I don't know but I mean, why wouldn't you let a customer go half and half? most pizza places do this. it's called choice. nope, not NoFun-Stone Pizza... but wait, they also have this one topping take out special and again, you have only the illusion of choice... because ControlFreak-Stone will ONLY let you only have pepperoni for your one topping. So screw you, vegetarians! Oh? Did you want your one-topping to be olives or mushroom? too bad! you'll get cheese only and you'll like it! but again... why? like why is the ONLY topping choice pepperoni? what if you wanted like a large olive pizza? my kids always want something lame - like a large olive pizza but no, Control-Stone Pizza won't have it! Blackstone: give your customers some choice, reward your loyal customers, God knows I've spent a LOT of money in there and never once did I sniff any kind of discount like a 10 Pizza punch card thing (and if you do have one I've never even heard of it so you're not doing a good job promoting it). This comes off as cheap... Also, be professional - when you answer the phone, make the customer in front of you (or on the phone) feel like the most important person in the world you're a small business, there's TONS of great pizza places in San Marcos and most of them taste better...act like you care about your customers. read more

Never left a yelp review before but I had to share the terrible experience I had at this business. I ordered two pizzas over the phone for pickup and was told they'd be ready in about 40 minutes. I arrived at the store 40 minutes later and it wasn't ready. That's fine, I wasn't expecting them to be exact. However, the total time ended up being about 70 minutes (big difference). While I waited, the employees were talking amongst themselves the entire time using a lot of profanity in front of customers. I'm no nun, but it was very unprofessional and maybe it wouldn't have taken so long if they just focused more. Lastly, one of the pizzas had the wrong toppings (wrong sauce) which made it inedible for the person it was supposed to be for. I'll never go back. read more

Ever since my family and I moved to the area, this has been our go-to pizza spot! The pizza is well pizza, my kids and husband likes it so it's a win! The salads are good and the portion is very big! I really give this place a minus 5. Probably the worst service I have ever had in a restaurant. I ordered a simple cheese steak sandwich and while I was waiting for my order, I could hear 2 guys in the kitchen talking loudly and throwing profane f- bombs all over the place. One guy was bragging about different girls he was f**king and the other guy was talking about a specific type of people that he hated. After nearly 15 minutes of waiting for my sandwich, I merely asked how much longer and one of the guys said "Can't you hear it cooking?" Incredibly rude response. I waited another 5 minutes and then I just walked out. I paid $13.50 to be treated with extreme disrespect and no food. If I was the owner, I would fire both of those guys. Horrible experience tonight. Ordered and took 20 minutes just to get a simple order strait ( half and half pizza, salad and wings). We were told 1 hour 10 minute wait. After 1 hour and 15 minutes we called and were told delivery person left already and would be at our house any minute (we live less then 10 minute drive away). Called again after another 30 minutes with only the explanation "she left a long time ago, not sure why she isn't there). 15 minutes later an apologetic delivery person brings our food- of course pizza is cold (and incorrect toppings) and wings Luke warm. If you order at the place- good food. Don't get delivery, trust me you will be waiting and very disappointed. This will be our last order. We have been customers for years and it's just not reliable anymore and no customer service. read more

Everything is great, the food and pizzas are all amazing regardless of which one you get and they truly have pizzas for everyone's flavor pallet. Many options and wings are always juicy and the buffalo sauce is the best in town for sure! Love how nice the teenagers are to the customers and are very patient, sometimes its hard to hear through the phone but they make sure to repeat your order and make sure everything is right. read more
