We ordered none in steak medium rare and it arrived medium to medium well and when questioned I was assured it was as ordered. A big disappointment on a $78 piece of meat! Our bartender Kailene was absolutely amazing. Super attentive, great drinks, and talks to you like she's known you for years! Our drinks (strawberry margarita and rum & coke) were great! We chose the Cheeseburger, Salmon, French Fries, and Asparagus for our meals and sides. The burger was slightly over done at well when I asked for medium well, but I still enjoyed the burger! It was super juicy and not burnt at all like most well done burgers I've had at other restaurants. I got the French Fries and I can't believe I never tried them with rosemary like they have in their seasoning. I was put off by it at first but decided to try it and I love it! My husband had the Salmon and pickles, which he said he will always come back for. For the Asparagus, it was a little less done than he likes but he still devoured it like it was the best thing he had ever had. All in all, we will be back, their menu is small compared to others, but they put time into creating each dish. It isn't just thrown on a plate. It was our first time there, we were a party of 11. We loved the ambiance, that older building is full of charm! The menu had a nice variety, there was something for everyone to enjoy. The time from ordering our food to when we got it was as expected, for the size of our party, I think it was well timed. And the food, was delicious. The reason for my giving 2 stars is because our service was quite horrible and unbelievably slow. We were half an hour early. It took a while for our server to greet us, and when she did, we put in a drink order. Easily 10 mins before she delivered. The restaurant was not that busy at the time. She never checked back in to see if we needed another (which we did). Everyone in our party was there on time. It was a solid 20 mins until we got our drinks. And then we just sat and waited... and waited. Our server did not come back for 30 minutes so someone from our party had to track her down. She unapologetically took our food orders and drink orders. The drinks came out slowly again, and not all at once. And other servers brought them out. Then the food was finally served. As I mentioned, the food was very good. But no one ever came to see if everyone's order was correct or to their liking, never checked to see if anyone needed anything (some would have liked to have salt, pepper and ketchup for their fries). Again, it was a long wait for the table to be cleared. We requested a dessert with a candle for our friend's birthday... that took 10 mins to get, and it was a different server that brought it out. Then our server finally came out to see if anyone cared for dessert. Very honestly, most of us did want a dessert, but we had already been in the restaurant for what felt like an eternity so we just wanted to pay and get out. We were there by 6:30 and it was nearly 9:30 before we got to leave. Our server was a very nice girl, but she provided painfully slow and awful service, especially for a restaurant like this one. We were a large party, out for a celebration. With better care for our table (as easy as making sure no one's bar drinks went empty), she would have generated a bigger bill, which would have meant a larger tip for herself. Would have enjoyed more if not for the huge prices and 2 plus hours to finish our meal. We were seated 15 minutes beyond our reservation only to be placed in a near empty room. The service was pretty bad as it was easily 30 minute gaps between drinks, appetizers, meal and dessert. Saw the waitress once for refills. Maybe some people don't mind if they are there to drink and socialize a lot. As far as the cost and food, they did not add up. Ate better for less than half the cost at Texas Roadhouse and Longhorns. I want to love this place but it's just mediocre. I've been here twice and both times I'm squished at a small table with the tables being so small. The tables should be for "bar guests" not people who want a nice sit down dinner. The only perk is the window and people watching. The first time I went they were out of over half their menu. This past time it wasn't so bad but again, just kind of lackluster. The flavors need to be improved. We were in Lilitz for my birthday stopped in here for a drink and appetizer to celebrate. We walked in a great mood and it was down hill form there. The staff seemed miserable and made us feel uncomfortable. My husband and I thought maybe we were mistaken, but the waitress was treating us terribly, almost hit my husband in the head with the water, not giving us plates, napkins, silverware. We had to ask for our waitress several times. She would walk by us constantly and ignore us. Another waitress had to help take our order. The bartender also was absent most of the time and it seemed he just left and the bar left open. A waitress had to go up and help there too. I was so disappointed. The waitress also seated a couple on top of us and our child, when there were plenty of seats open. We had to rearrange our seating to make the other couple comfortable. And this was in the middle of us eating. The couple behind us also had to ask for place setting as well. It was such a shame, because the appetizer we stayed for was very good. I plan on calling the restaurant manager and putting in a formal complaint because the service was so terrible. We did not deserve to be treated like this and it brought me to tears. Absolutely fabulous dinner and experience! The new direction that the menu has taken since last year is a breath of fresh air. Kuddos to the chef on honing in on a simple, clean and delightful menu. I ordered the happy chicken. Being from Lancaster, Amish chicken is common, albeit mostly dry and marked up, so I wanted to see if I could be "wow'd". Needless to say I was VERY impressed!!! The portion size was hearty so I ended up sharing with my husband but more importantly it wasn't dry; perfectly seasoned and moist. I ordered the roasted potatoes as a side. Matched perfectly with the chicken. Price points are on par, as well. We found our new chicken place! My husband was looking for a lighter fare for the evening so he stuck to a few starters as his meal. He gobbled up the charred avocado in a second, such a fun and unique dish. He ended with the kanikama crab salad and warm olives. Again, delighted with each of these dishes. We ended our meal with two old fashioned that were perfectly made. We sipped slowly and took in the the ambiance by sitting back, relaxing and watching the fire roar in the kitchen. "Our dining experience was very mediocre, given the vibe and the prices that you guys are going for, unfortunately, we were disappointed. My in-laws are pretty old and they are very sensitive to noise. We asked to move our table away from the band that was playing live. The first server that we had was overkill and tried too hard to sell us the steaks on the menu. He went on and on about other things that we didn't care to hear. I don't think he got the clue when I asked for the second time about the MP of the most expensive steak in the house. He wasted so much time embellishing everything and lost our interest. Came here from out of town for an anniversary dinner and were super excited to treat ourselves and have an amazing night. We happened to be about 30 minutes early and were willing to wait at the bar until our reservation time, but they said they could seat us anyway. Unfortunately we were left sitting for 40 minutes with no acknowledgement from anyone at all while watching our waiter tend to all the tables around us and to those sat after us. Decor/service: the decor is perfect with the open kitchen and nice bar setup. Plenty of seating some of it is pretty close together though which isn't the best. The service was good and attentive. Food: the majority of the food was a miss for me. Starting with the appetizers the soup of the day was ham and bean which should of been called bean and a piece of ham soup. The flavor however was solid. The arancini was not very good in my opinion. I have had classic arancini from Italian markets and this just didn't compare. The sauce didn't match the dish either. The main courses the steak was good but slightly chewy. Not the worst but not the best eitherr. The chicken was overcooked. You expect it to have a slight burnt flavor due to the method of cook but this was charred and you couldn't taste anything but the burnt flavor. The dessert we had the cookie which was good. I would of liked slightly more chocolate but that's nit-picking. Only thing I'd say for the Dish is I wish it was bigger for the price. For more of an upscale and expensive dinner it was a miss for me. read more

This was our first time here. The ambience and decor is great! Love an open kitchen. Our servicer was welcoming and attentive. We ordered the crab croquettes, tuna tartare, 22 oz ribeye and the au gratin potatoes. The crab croquettes is a must get. 10/10 for us. The tuna tartare was just okay and the potato that it sat on needed salt and herbs for flavoring 6/10. I read reviews about their steak needing salt so when ordering, I asked it to be prepared generously before cooking. Our server said they don't salt them because they didn't want it to ruin the flavor of the meat. She kindly suggested flaky salt to add before eating. When our steak and potatoes came out the food runner told us to be careful when touching the ramekin because it was piping hot. We were grateful for the warning but when taking a bite of them, they were freezing cold. We told our server and she the kitchen make a new one. The steak was a good piece or meat but zero flavor. I was glad for the salt for sure. We then ended up canceling our potatoes because we were finishing up with our dinner. They did take it off of our bill. As first time visitors, we probably should have paid more attention to the negative reviews. To say we were disappointed is an understatement. Arriving about 10 minutes early for a 6:30 reservation for four, we were advised our table needed to be "cleared". We're early, no problem. When the table was ready, the hostess asked if we liked to be seated since the other couple hadn't yet arrived. Since we'd been standing by the hostess stand for 10 minutes waiting for a table, it seemed like a pretty stupid question. Anyway, once we're all seated, (they arrived as we're heading to the table) our waitress showed up with water and took our drink order. So far, so good. By the time she returns with the drinks, we're ready to order. Listed on the menu under "starters" is beef tartare, one of my favorites. Along with that, I ordered the Berkshire pork steak which is listed as "10 oz smoked oil, rosemary". The other three went with the pan seared scallops and we both ordered the shared side of Brussel sprouts. Returning to our table a few moments after taking our order, the waitress advises us they don't have enough scallops for three orders. It should be noted that the scallops are also offered as an addon for any steak. But they're out of scallops. So one order is changed to the salmon. My tartare arrives. I'm not sure what the chef did to it, but it was without a doubt the worst I've ever had. I suggest he stop by John Jefferies, order theirs and attempt to duplicate it. On to the entrees. When my 10 oz pork steak was placed in front of me, I wasn't sure what I was looking at. Arranged on the plate were four slices, maybe an 1/8" thick of what I guess was pork. Not exactly what I was expecting. Fortunately, the knife provided was sufficiently sharpened that I was able to cut it. A more accurate description would have been shoe leather. When presented with the bill, and this wasn't noticed until the following day, my pork steak was listed as "collard pork". I don't know what that is and neither does Google. The salmon got an "okay" review. I sampled one of the scallops and while acceptable, certainly not the best I've ever had. On a positive note, the drinks were reasonably priced based on any number of much better restaurants in the Lancaster area. read more

If you are reading this review, contemplating dining at this new, maybe never heard of this restaurant, GO! Eating is my favorite hobby and I am not easily impressed by most restaurants; lucky for me, this was not most restaurants! My husband and I, along with 3 other couples, were fortunate enough to have a 7-course wine/ cocktail pairing meal at Blackworth. My husband and I bid on the dinner at a charity event. We love to eat, and it was for a great cause "Horizons Initiative" so we thought "why not". We went into the dinner expecting good food and a great time, but WOW were our expectations surpassed! First, the atmosphere is wonderful. Very cozy and sophisticated without being off putting and sterile. Our server, Matt, was very knowledgeable and answered any and all questions ourselves and guests had; including but not limited to where our food was sourced and how the meals were prepared. In fact, all the staff who assisted in making our meal what it was were all kind, informative and fantastic. Now the food! We had way too much food to describe in detail what it deserves but my personal favorites were the "Oysters Blackworth", "Pork Belly" and "Chilean Sea Bass". The oysters were served on the half shell with cheese and other ingredients that sadly i do not remember as i was too busy devouring it. The Pork Belly was served with polenta cakes that wonderfully complimented the delicious fattiness of the meat. And the Sea Bass, wow. I typically stick to salmon and fish tacos, but this surpassed all my fish expectations. I think what set it apart was the wonderful spices and the crisp finish of the oven that it was cooked in. pros: Nice ambience. The avocado appetizer was really delicious. Cons: - Wait staff neglected providing sharing plates for appetizers and utensils, until flagged. I can forgive that, but... - Order the $60 ribeye after the waiter said it'd be the best steak I would have ever - multiple times. Okay. I ordered it medium-rare and came out properly cooked. I could taste the charcoal, so that was good. HOWEVER, the steak was tasteless and TOUGH! I mean, chewy, like $5 choice grade chuck. I thought I was crazy, because it was a $60 MR steak, so I let my companion taste it. After she finished chewing for what felt like a minute, she confirmed that I wasn't crazy. I inspected the steak and noticed that it had absolutely no intramuscular fat, except between the cap and fillet. I think the problem here is the sourcing. This steak should be graded lower than Select. I should've known better when the waiter brought the vacuum sealed, $290 wagyu to show me, and I noticed the very poor intramuscular fat on that one, and opted not to get it for that reason. I simply did not eat it at all and and now I'm kicking myself for not returning it to the kitchen. I was on a date and opted the "polite" route. I think I owed it to the restaurant that their source is ripping them off. However, the chef should regularly taste and know their product. The lack of seasoning, however, is all chef. - Also, the Brussels sprouts were tasteless and tasted like old oil. That way it came out staked up in a cup box didn't help the consistency. The fries had the same fate. Small, soggy, greasy, and tasteless. My companion ordered the burger, and when I asked her how it was, she said, "it's alright", and ate half of it . Guess she was boing polite too. So I took virtually everything home, but ended up tossing the sprouts and fries. I cut the steak in tiny pieces, recooked them in butter, and gave them to my kids. They don't know any better and it's good exercise for the development of their jaws. The waiter should have taken the hint and asked when he saw that I didn't touch my food. Instead, he over enthusiastically asked, "isn't that the best steak you've ever had in your life!?" I guess the only reason I'd be back is to have a drink and that incredible avocado appetizer. read more

We arrived really late to The Wilbur Tapestry Hotel and were left with very few dining options. We chose to eat at Blackworth due to convenience in terms of both operating hours and distance (it's attached to the hotel). We were able to get seating for two, despite arriving on a Friday night with no reservation. Our food took about 45 minutes to arrive. We ordered the chicken with potatoes and asparagus. The method they use for cooking the chicken is wonderful, but it lacked seasoning to balance out the char on the meat. We both agreed that the food was good, but overpriced considering the lack of seasoning. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. The place was packed, so it's obvious that this restaurant is a local favorite. I would be willing to give this place another shot, but would likely select another dish to try. read more

Positives - great atmosphere, wonderful servers, reservation service (texts, very good), roasted brussel sprouts were very tasty, nice drink selection. Growing Edges - food took way too long to come out (but with a start up, that can happen), food was meh - see below, some items were not worth the expense. One of the meats at our table was ordered medium-well, came out medium rare. Meh - the food was just OK. We got pork belly for an app and it didn't carry the flavor you would think it should. Not enough seasoning and no salt/pepper at the tables. The palenta was decent. For dinner we got the sea bass and rib-eye. Both had little flavor to them, very plain. Even with the espresso on the rib-eye, I was not getting that classic marble fatty/meaty taste one expects from the rib-eye and for $30+ it was not a wow factor. The sauces for the meats were not the best. I would suggest a gorgonzola cream option for the steak choices - they had a salsa, steak sauce, chimchuri, and something else. The sea bass was the same, not a ton of flavor spices seemed to be down played. Overall, 3 stars. I think with a few changes to this start up would help. I think it has great potential, but we will have to wait and see. If I go back, I will update the review - again, it is a start up, so, you can expect some hiccups along the way. read more

With the first week of this road trip in the books I needed something more than fast food or "casual dining". Found Boackworth Live Fire Grill on Yelp & called for a reservation. Luckily they could squeeze us in. What a great meal! I had the New York Strip with the Mojo Rojo & potato's. Two others split a cheeseburger, and the two littles had the cheese pizza. Even the pizza was some of the best I've had. Cheeseburger was great. Maybe my son will start appreciating something other than Burger King! Portions were good sized. It was busy and the kids got impatient waiting for their food, but it was worth the wait. Isabelle was a very attentive server and took good care of us. A good restaurant would comp some portion of the check. For an expensive restaurant you would expect tablecloths perhaps. possibly some bread and butter. Our server was very nice but she got busy and didn't check on us or offer to refill our drinks. My daughter ordered the grilled cheese, it was awful, had zero taste. Fries were good. I ordered the ginger and lemongrass soup, I could taste lemongrass but other than that it was not property seasoned and bland. The cornbread was weird and mushy, the maple butter that accompanied it was not good. The Arancini appetizer was ok. My husband ordered the short ribs special which was also just ok. I don't mind paying a premium for quality food but this food was mediocre at best. The service was also lacking, we waited a long time for our food and our check. Do yourself a favor and don't waste your money. There are far better restaurants in Lititz. read more

I went here for Thanksgiving, so maybe they're better normally. The service was excellent--I have no complaints about that! The food was OK, but nothing special. My favorite items were the rolls, mashed squash, and pumpkin ice cream. The Mac and cheese was kind of bland and the stuffing was too celery-laden for my tastes. The turkey was OK, but it was kind of dry. Nothing tasted bad, but it was just kind of meh. Since it's so expensive, it's disappointing. Crispy fries were tossed on top of the mussels - instantly soggy. Underfried and too heavy on the smoked paprika. Mac + cheese side was very bland. The waitress asked if we wanted KETCHUP for our steaks. Wtf. 3 out of 4 people ordered the chocolate mousse for dessert. Only one was brought, and given to the person who DIDN'T order it. More never appeared and waitress disappeared. Waitstaff needed much more training - friendly but unprofessional and inattentive. All around lousy experience.
