But for lunch I stuck with their Cajun grilled tenders and fresh cut fries. Typically you can't go wrong. My wife loves their summer berry salad! She claims its the best salad in Lancaster County! Service was quick and the waitress was very kind. The entire staff here is always great! If you love vibes, Cat's Meow screams a unique speakeasy restaurant. The Cats Meow has been a place I've been meaning to try and it was a good first experience. My family (party of 6) came with reservations. If you have a large party, you need to make a reservation since there's only 2 spots they can really put a party of more than 4. Parties of more than 4 have 2 hour time limits and parties less than 4 are limited to 1 hour just FYI. The food was pretty good, and the ambiance was cozy and classy 1920s theme. Love the history of the place and how it's well kept. There's a big banquet hall in the top of the building if you ever plan to host a large event (can hold up to 26 people) or dinner. The prices of meals are about $20+ (the appetizers are somewhere between $10.99-$15). Overall good experience! read more

Hard to find a place open on Monday. My family went early due to my daughter's work commitment. There were people eating and several followed. Service was very good. We all had the hot beef sandwich with fries. The beef was tender and delicious and the fresh cut fries were excellent. I had the J. Edgar. It is listed as a grilled turkey. It was NOT turkey but processed turkey lunch meat from the deli. NOTHING about the sandwich was grilled turkey. Cute vibe. LOVED the 20's cartoons outside. Those sent me into the building with a big smile and big anticipation. Inside, it's clear that someone put a lot of effort into the decor. But if I'm honest, the old-building odor, combined with bar smells gave a pretty unpleasant experience for the first several minutes while we waited to be seated. (I hate to be too critical, but I do want to be real.) Service was very good, our sandwiches were tasty, and the price was certainly affordable. It was one of the first times my new-to-adulting daughter treated me for dinner, so in the end, it was an all-around happy memory. My friend mentioned this restaurant for a possibility when I came for my visit. I was intrigued by the concept and the menu. We did a day of touring Lancaster county and ended up back in Manheim where we thought, heeeyyyy, it's lunchtime! The outside is so adorable but you have to traverse a flight of steep steps to get up to the restaurant. When you enter you are assaulted by a feeling of being transported back to the 1920s. From the wall paper to the light fixtures, everything screams Art Deco. This was one of the few places I've been that has comfy chairs that fit a big behind. Yea! Then, out server came to the table. I honestly wish we could bottle her up and take to other places to show them the proper way to interact with patrons. Her name is Leah. Take a note of that name because if you ever go to this place, you WANT her to be her server. Now to the food. We both ordered the French onion soup. It was pretty tasteless. The onions were severely undercooked and squishy, the broth had NO flavor. It had the usual cheese and bread but so disappointing. My friend got the meatball appetizer. They were fairly large and smothered in cheese. Sadly, the meatballs were not really flavorful but, the sauce was really good. I got the Cat Meow club. A turkey club on marbled rye. It was a pretty decent sandwich except for the cheese. They used shredded cheese. A very odd choice. They have Cooper Sharp in this state and that would have elevated the sandwich to awesome level. It was like the rest, kind of meh. I would love to give the menu another chance as there are quite a few choices that sound really tasty. I am always up for second chances! I so dislike having to spend money on food, where shortcuts are taken and my waitress made me feel as if she's doing me a favor, when I know she's only trying to up her tip. Crab stuffing on an english muffin with tomatoes/bacon & cheddar $14.75. Asks the waitress, is this good; waitress nods enthusiatically, exclaiming several of her customers have ordered this sandwich, today. Inquired what crab stuffing was. Waitress says she doesn't know, goes to the kitchen to ask, comes back with a brief description, which she kinda fakes. I order it; what the heck. It arrives, a mound of lukewarm crab dip concoction, lots of mayo, a sad tomato slice, burnt bacon and a helmet of cheese. I'm not happy. I pick at it. My english muffin was soggy. Do we want dessert? Sure. Big mistake. Made in house, I ask - yes, all desserts are made in house. I'll have the pineapple upside down cake. Can I have that heated and with ice cream? Oh, you want ice-cream, says our waitress - yes, please; I say. I'll have to see if this can be done. Let me ask the manager. Umm, okay. Waitress comes back and says, manager has heated up your cake, especially for you. Alright, just so you know TCM; I wasn't born yesterday and I've been to many restaurants; do not have your waitresses treat me like I'm stupid. Came here for a family dinner recently. Service wasn't anything above and beyond, just the standard. The place was a bit loud making it hard to carry a conversation without yelling. To the food... The salmon was good. Well cooked and great flavors. The Chicken Parmesan was terrible. The chicken had no flavor, the crust was soggy, and the sauce tasted like it came from a jar. The burgers had great reviews from our group and so did the steaks. Would probably not visit again when we come back to the area. read more

Decided to try this place out and made reservations for outdoor seating. We arrived, said we had a reservation and were told all the outdoor spots were taken. We explained we were one of the reservations and she disappeared for a few minutes. Eventually we were seated outside, and asked for a cocktail menu (beer list is on the printed menu). I came to The Cat's Meow at the recommendation of my B&B host nearby. There was outdoor seating available, which is exactly what I was looking for. I had the meatball sandwich and white sangria. Normally, I would have had a red wine-based sangria with a red meat dish, but I asked the waitress how the red sangria was and she was sort of like, "Ehh...I mean, it's ok. The white sangria is better." So there has go. The bar's interior is SUPER cool. It's all themed around the roaring 20s, complete with photos of artists of the decade and the music to match. Actually, the music was so relaxing that I ended up staying here for a few hours. My waitress was particularly friendly. I had been so excited to come here and check this place out, so was thrilled when a good friend moved within walking distance and suggested we go to dinner. Since COVID I've been very on guard about dining indoors and my friend knows and understands that. Fortunately it was a beautiful mild fall day and outside dining worked well. We did pop inside to inquire if we seat ourselves and I must say the place was beautiful. The outside, second level deck was also decorated nicely, full of fall decor, and I enjoyed the sound of birds inhabiting their decorations. I love me a good Pittsburgh salad, especially when it's made with mixed greens so seeing it on the menu made me very happy. Complete with shoestring fries I was eager for it to arrive. Usually this sort of salad comes with onions but here it wasn't offered so I asked for grilled onions to be added, I also omitted the tomatoes. I had no idea until the check came that I would be charged for the onions. The salad itself was very disappointing. I was served your basic lettuce instead of the mixed greens as the menu said. Missing were also some staple ingredients on a Pittsburgh salad and it ended up being basically a big bowl of plain lettuce, a small amount of fries (which should have been a meatier cut and were from frozen), and a minuscule piece of beef. The dressing was store bought. Meanwhile my friend's son got a delicious looking burger and hand cut fries. His fries should have been on my salad instead of the blah frozen ones I was served. While I didn't get dessert or drinks my friends did, a piece of cake will set you back a hefty $7 here. Meanwhile my plain jane salad and water was close to $20 Service was ok, not the best, but ok. I think she kept forgetting about us being on the deck and didn't remember to do separate checks, but I reminded her. The saving grace to this review is that while my meal wasn't the best their's looked good, and the atmosphere was aesthetically pleasing to look at. Our favorite spot for Wednesday wings. People say they are small, but they are flavorful and delicious, and I always have enough to satisfy me! Another must-have is the French onion soup. Amazing. Great salads, perfectly seasoned and cooked steaks, fantastic appetizers like the Razor fries. We are thankful to have Cats Meow in Manheim. SO disappointed in this restaurant. My parents dined here 5 years ago & RAVED about the food, so they couldn't wait to take my husband and I back. The French onion soup was great, but the soup special (Cordon Bleu) tasted like something out of a can. The "crab" on my mom's salad was fake like it was straight from the supermarket packaging. Not even close to fresh. She also had shrimp on her salad. She ate one piece & felt sick. She looked at the rest of the shrimp & they smelled bad & weren't deveined. My husband's chicken looked like it was smothered in frozen deli meat. My pasta was OK at best, but really lacked flavor. Overall, we were very disappointed.
