I contacted blades of green and they offered a few of their plans. Told me you can downgrade or upgrade your plan at anytime. Since it was a little late in the spring I wasn't expecting much but after the first treatment the amounts of weeds declined drastically. More grass has grown in and the lawn is looking much better as it was all weeds at the start of spring. They responded fast after contacting them and also followed up after the treatment if I had an questions or concerns. I have a few bare spots I want to get grass growing in so I'll look forward to that when the seed in the fall and see how it turns out in the spring. read more

When I signed up for their service the folks on the phone were great! Within days the calls trying to upsell me started and it was relentless. I called their customer service to have it stopped and it did. This is why they received the second star. As far as the service itself, it started out fine until i noticed that areas of my yard were not getting done. The weeds outside my fence didn't seemed to be affected like inside my fence and front lawn. This lead me to check my cameras. I have a fence that doesn't enclose my entire yard. I was told it was noted in my file and that the tech is aware. Anything outside the fence was not done except for one occasion. That tech I tipped via the app. What ended it for me was the last time out. They didn't do outside the fence again and the tech literally only sprayed two thirds of the the fenced in area. For the gross amount of money that I was paying, I shouldn't have to verify that the service is getting done by checking my cameras. So I cancelled. read more

Never received the refund. i contacted the company on 07/01 and 07/08 and could not find out why I had not received my refund. I asked to speak with a manager-was told they were all in a meeting but I would hear back either by phone call or email later that day. No one ever contacted me. This company is awful, with horrible customer service and just laughable. Have been paying for a yearly contract for years. This year they messed up, and "forgot" treatments, or squeezed four treatments into a few months instead of throughout the year. When questioned, they became "confused". Had a balance due, and since February, have been trying to resolve this balance to not interrupt service. The phone number rings, no one answers, and then unable to leave voicemail, as it disconnects you. No texting will go through to that number. Email is "donotreply", so that is not an option. We cancelled our service because they cheated us out of the first 2 treatments and we didn't know it was no longer Arbornomics. They didn't do the aeration when they were supposed to. I used Blades of Green for a couple of years. In the spring of 2025 after my very large Maple tree finished dropping its seed, I noticed an overgrowth of little maple trees growing. I believe it was because they either forgot to or applied the spring pre-emergent treatment too late. In either case, my front yard and side yard had hundreds and hundreds of little maple trees growing. Blades of Green also aeriated and overseeded my lawn for a couple of years. I was very unhappy with the results because there was little to no new growth in too many areas. Their service manager came out to discuss both. The solution to the little trees was they would eventually grow tall enough where the lawn mower would cut them back. I've had my lawn professionally maintained by various national and local companies for about 30 years and never had that problem before Blades of Green. Especially, in the bare spots where overseeding did not take hold, he said my yard needed de-thatching. I asked if they provided the service, I was told no. If my yard needed de-thatching, why would they have overseeded my yard? I will say, other than the little trees growing on my lawn, my lawn was weed free. I moved from Blades of Green to a company that provides full lawn services. Last fall, I had them de-thatch, aerate, apply Ortho grow, and overseed my complete lawn. This year my grass looks terrible. The service is very expensive for the exorbitant charge for my small lawn. I have been watering it to try and keep it looking good during this period of drought. The charges are never explained and when I decided to cancel my annual plan I was given the run around. The first day I called (6/16/26) to cancel my credit card was charged for the second time this month for an unknown reason. I had to call back two days later on 6/18/26 to finally get the service cancelled and have an email verification. We had our backyard fully resodded in 2020, and signed up with Blades of Green (BOG) a little while after that so we could get a fresh start. We previously had TruGreen who really really botched up our lawn that led to the full re-sod, and BOG seemed like a small locally owned company that heard our concerns and up to the challenge to show-up. They were pretty good when we first started, but then each year, it's looked worse than the previous - more clovers, weeds, and bare patches. After reading some of the reviews here, the timing seems to align with when they were bought by some company named Senske. I've submitted concerns about the downward trend, and was been reminded that "lawn care is a process, not an event" - basically to trust the process. A couple things to note: * They push a spreader to spread seed, and they spray stuff and are in/out in 20m and leave behind a list of things that they noticed and offering additional services * They USED to have mechanical aeration at an extra cost, but dropped that service altogether and offer "liquid aeration" as an alternative - they walk around and spray stuff and use a spreader for new seed * They don't pick anything up (branches/debris), rake, or do anything physical to the lawn beyond pushing the spreader and spraying the stuff Long story short, my neighbors yard looks like a golf course in comparison, using over the counter fertilizer and weed control from Home Depot. When I let BOG know we were breaking up, they were quick to offer 20% off for the rest of the year. It's crazy to me that for $154 a month for lawn service that a tech would come and do the treatment and leave after seeing the lawn in the condition that it's in with no additional guidance or recourse. I was hoping for a company that would see thatch, break it up, and spot treat it. Maybe pick up a rake once in a while, and offer some guidance when they see something starting to get out of control. When this company first began servicing our yard, the results were outstanding--our lawn looked magnificent. Over time, however, the quality of service declined. Despite using nearly every service they offered and paying over $500 per month, persistent issues like brown spots in the grass and bark scale on the trees were never resolved. To their credit, the staff were always kind, courteous, and responsive. Unfortunately, their efforts did not translate into results. We even gave them an additional year after being repeatedly disappointed in hopes that things would improve, but the same issues persisted. BEWARE! I will tell my story, but I urge you to filter for lower reviews and see the shady billing practices this company pulls on loyal customers. Just something you don't expect to see from a local business. I used this company as a loyal customer for 5 years. After price increases and a decline in positive result, I tried to cancel my account with them. Hours after I cancelled my account, they sent a team out to perform services that I explicitly requested not be performed. Fast forward a month later, the cancelation department finally responded and told me I had a $500+ balance stemming from that service as well as from a service of seeding allegedly done 4+ years ago. My contract, however, has never included seeding or aeration, and those services were never performed. When I called, I got sort of a shoulder shrug saying "you can't prove that the services weren't performed 4 years ago, so, tough luck." Just an awful end to a long customer relationship. I highly recommend finding another company to service your lawn. I see now that there are several reviews expressing these same shady billing practices post cancelation. I had been a client of National Turf for 13 years before they were purchased by Blades of Green. My credit card was on file, and I my card was charged after each service, as was the normal procedure. About 6 months ago, they sent me a notice that my account had $640 of past due invoices. I looked at the account history, and each missed payment was a single "installment charge" for 2024 and 2025. They charged my card both before and after this unknown "annual fee". Calling for clarification as to what this fee entailed was ineffective. NO ONE at BoG can answer the simple question of what the charge is for, nor will they provide me with the agreement under which services were rendered. I have asked dozens of times. They are threatening to turn my account over to collection despite never responding to simple information requests relevant to my account and the disputed past due charges. I am now talking to Senske Services, their corporate ownership, and they cant answer simple questions regarding the charges. Rather, I get deliquent, automated notices weekly. Beyond frustrating, and borderline harassment. Also, the quality of service has plummeted since they bought National Turf. Would not recommend at all. read more

I am not a customer, yet they came to my home when I was not here and applied "pesticide" to my yard without my permission. They left approximately 10 signs all around the property stating that they had been there and applied pesticide to the lawn. The yard was very green and healthy looking and now has brown patches everywhere. I am furious, as I am on a well, and do not want chemicals applied to my lawn. When I called them to complain, their excuse was "sorry, we applied to the wrong lawn", without offering me anything else. I absolutely do not want their services, as my lawn now looks like Blades of Brown. They basically trespassed on my property, applied chemicals that I did not want, and barely apologized. I contacted this company to remove a bees nest because I had used them before for pest control. They had a staff come out the next day to assess the nest. I was then told a technician would come the next day to treat the nest. But the next day I got a text from the company saying that a tech would not be out until the next week, which was frustrating because I lost two days of time that I could have been calling other companies to get this issue resolved quicker. Its service and management personals quite their jobs all the time and whenever we had a question or an issue, it would take them weeks to respond, if they ever respond. They are unprofessional and don't know what they are doing. They did not control the weeds in our lawn and applied too much fertilizer and burnt grass terribly. Our yard become the worst among the neighbors from the best in just a few months. They tried to overcharge us at least a couple of times. They added unnecessary applications in order to charge more. We have had their service for a while, and it had been fine. However, they came by today and killed my milkweed, hollyhock, and coleus seedlings, along with tarragon. These plants were fine yesterday. this has been one thing bringing me joy this year, and they killed it. All the hours tending and protecting from deer and rabbits, flushed down the drain, along with the water to get the seedlings established. We will be canceling our service. I'd much rather pull weeds than have my actual plants killed. read more

It's more expensive than most and the add on services are also very pricey Worse my lawn after more than a year is the worst in Fairfax county. I found a vendor who does all things landscaping and decided to switch. I was paying the same monthly payment for agreed-upon services. When I went to cancel in September, I figured I would pay for the month of September and be done. They added an additional $213.97 claiming they provided more services. I never signed an agreement where I agreed to more services! My monthly payment never increased! I read where they are quick to refer you to collection agencies, so I will satisfy it and file BBB complaint as they are not a transparent organization. They do not perform ethically and should be ashamed. They now claim all clients have to agree to budget biling/auto-pay. They mentioned in the email where all fees increased in February 2024, but my monthly payment stayed the same. I asked where was the notification email blast. MARIE, THE REVENUE MGR said they don't have to send out notices and said folks should look online. SHAMEFUL! KARMA IS REAL. I would prefer to give them zero stars. read more

In September 2025 I purchased lawn service from Blades of Green. It was recommended as a 2024 five star business, or Montgomery County, Maryland. My first application was on 9/26. I was home at the time of this application. After a couple of weeks I called Blades of Green to complain that there were several spots on the lawn and that the seeds and liquid aeration needed to be re-applied. They did agree and did come out to reapply the seeding and aeration. I paid $102.36 for the first four months and only received one service. They said that another application was applied on 10/15/2024. I find this hard to believe because both my wife and I were t home all day. Also, I never received a email, text message or phone call alerting me that they would be out on that date. I also never got a confirmation that you would think after service would be a knock on the door or message in my mailbox that the work was performed. There responds to this complaint was that they did the applications and no longer are obligated to any other service requirements. My lawn looks no different than it did before. I would highly not recommend this business and definitely not recommend the liquid aeration they offer. read more

We all need to be careful who we work with. Unfortunately, it took 3 years and $9k+ to realize I was paying way too much for sub-par service. Their Al A Carte pricing strategy means you quickly pay more over time for additional requirements, but the outcome I invested in never came. Smoke and mirrors sales tactics and fleecing of the customer is what I experienced, along with buyers remorse. I know from experience you can get more value for money elsewhere.
