I used to love Blakes but it has been several years since I had enjoyed a Lotaburger. I decided to scratch that itch on the way home tonight. I ordered a lotaburger with green chili and cheese, onion rings, and a strawberry milkshake. The onion rings and milkshake were good but nothing special. The Lotaburger was a disappointment. The bun was a bit stale and the burger was undercooked. It had a very small amount of green chili, a single piece of wilted lettuce, and a single thin slice of tomato about the size of a quarter. Not at all what I was remembering or expecting. The service was good but the burger was not. Next time I'm craving a good burger it won't be Blakes. read more

I'm a fan of Blake's ... it's a burger joint with the delicious addition of green chilies. Fries are good, burgers are amply large, and I always get cheese and green chilies in a double. The iced tea is well brewed and refreshing on a hot august day. My wife and I always get one meal at Blake's whenever we visit New Mexico. This was our first time at this location; we were in town for the Balloon Fiesta. Clearly we weren't the only ones from the festival who were making a pilgrimage to Blake's... quite a crowd on this visit! My husband and I have driven by this place and other Lotaburgers and never stopped to try it. Today was the day! The sign outside for us this time and we finally stopped in. Neither of us were expecting much. We got a single patty burger with cheese and green chili, French fries and onion rings. Everything was excellent! The fries were fresh and hot with a slight crisp to the exterior and perfectly seasoned. My onion rings were better than any restaurant rings I'd tried! They were crispy on the outside and not swimming in oil. Both of us were super impressed with our sides and had high hopes for the burger. The burgers were also perfect! The meat patty was bigger than I expected, lots of lettuce, a melted slice of cheese, a little mustard, a slice of ripe tomato and green chili with just the right amount of heat. Even the bun was just the right texture. Both of us agreed this was way better than any other fast food burgers we'd had. I don't know if all Lotaburgers will have the same quality of food, but this will be our go to when we crave a burger. The only reason I gave four stars was because the restaurant needs a little better cleaning routine. The windows needed some cleaning (dead fly). When we walked in to order, we saw a family giving the order taker a hard time and being rude. He didn't do anything wrong. Cherry milkshakes!?! Yes!!!! I absolutely love cherry milkshakes and can't believe how difficult that they are to track down. My hometown in Washington serves cherry milkshakes at a local drive thru but I haven't found any in San Diego. My boyfriend and I are in Albuquerque to visit his family and I practically shrieked in excitement when I read cherry on the menu at Blake's. We had already placed our order and I was reading the menu for entertainment when I came across this marvelous discovery. I hopped right up to order my shake, even though it was 10 AM. It tasted as wonderful as I expected. For food, I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich but thought it was just okay. Maybe I should have gone for the crispy instead. The grilled chicken had a bit of funny flavor to it that I can't quite put my finger on. It came topped with lettuce, tomato and I added a slice of cheese. It seems that they only have American though as I wasn't asked for a specific type. It would have been much better with swiss. The cashier said it had ranch instead of mayo but I couldn't taste it if it did. My boyfriend wanted to go to Blake's for a vegetarian breakfast burrito and ended up splitting the gigantic burrito with his brother. read more

Time to stop eating fast food....who in their right mind would pay $13.00 for a fish sandwich meal. The same fish sandwich last year, offered during Lent, consisted of a whole piece of fried fish with green chile tarter sauce, shredded lettuce and a tomato slice on a brioche bun. Nice sandwich last year....Not this year‼ This year, you receive 2 very small child sized deep fried fish sticks with an excessive amount of shredded lettuce to bulk up the appearance of a $13.00 fish sandwich meal. They gutted me here. Who actually comes to Blakes and doesn't get a green chile cheeseburger in New Mexico?? How is it an option? Shouldn't it only be a subtraction from the order that is strongly advised against? I am a native New Mexican who moved to California, which in and of itself is torture when it comes to green chile. To add misery to my situation, they got my order wrong. I didn't check, got to Sal's home to eat, and only one item was correct. My burger almost came dry with nothing on it. I simply didn't want onions and instead got a burger no cheese with one tomato, a handful of pickles, and about 3 tablespoons of mustard. NO PEPPERS!!! WTH? Once again, trying to support local is a one way street. It seems they have outsourced all the phone ordering and customer service. They no longer have a real person taking phone orders. We placed our order via the phone automated system. It took our order, repeated it back and gave us total. Go to pick it up and restaurant is closed. Call customer service and get a call back from a clearly outsourced overseas outfit. No help or recourse. I'm sure they will try to blame it on Covid. Why would the system even allow orders if restaurant is closed. We will take our business elsewhere in the future. read more

This location is one of the older locations with very little seating inside and outdoor seating. The food was good though it was slower than other locations. The staff seemed grumpy and not very friendly. The menu is no different than other locations. The good thing for this location is that there are not any other food locations close by. read more

No, I'm not reviewing a franchise burger joint. I'm reviewing an employee. About a week ago, a car I didn't recognize pulled up to our front door. The doorbell rang. I opened it to find a woman I didn't recognize holding a purse I did recognize -- my wife's. She said she worked at the Lotaburger on 4th street, my wife had left it there the day before. I didn't have any cash -- I would've tipped her -- so I told her that she had earned good karma points for all eternity, she just smiled and drove off. I inspected the contents: everything was intact. My wife takes our super picky kiddo to this location on Monday afternoons for snacks, prior to piano practice. She's good with it, it's a Lotaburger. Placed an order online when we arrived we had to wait a while for someone to speak to us. The girl got our food and went to get our cups. The kitchen was filthy. We arrived 3 minutes after the order was to be ready and it was cold. We went to the car and passed out the burgers. One was wrong so I took it back in. The rude girl said i had to bring the receipt back in to prove to her it was wrong. I went back to the car and got the receipt and took it back in. I waited again for her to speak to me. The CURRENT staff does not approach the customers with a friendly manner and they rarely ever look at anyone who is standing in the lobby. They make you wait in line for 10 minutes without even saying hello and when you call they have a rude attitude. I left my purse at their restaurant and didn't realize it until 10 minutes had passed, so I decided to call the place to ask if they had seen a red purse in their lobby. They said no, but just to be sure I went to go check for myself and the purse was THERE, the whole time. This just shows that the staff that they have right now is LAZY and IRRESPONSIBLE. Don't bother....I tried to call in for over 10 minutes. They don't answer the phones. No problem, maybe they are busy (but I've had this issue with this location before). I was on my way, so I would just place my order in person. An inconvenience, but no biggie. When I got to the store, there were 3 employees visible. A young lady was building a burger, one young man was cleaning the grill and another young man was walking back and forth behind the counter - not really seeming to be doing anything. He finally took my order (3 orders of onion rings). I then waited for my order. No one dropped the onion rings. They continued on with their same tasks. The phone rang several times while I was there. No one answered it. The young man who took my order bagged some fries and picked up a bag of hamburger buns, then put them back down, then went to the walk in, then came out with nothing, then took the top off the ice cream machine. The cook who was cleaning the grill answered the phone and took an order (the phone rang several separate times while I was in the store and no one answered it -- yet he chose this time to answer it rather than start cooking my order). After over 10 minutes of waiting (still my onion rings were not started), I asked for my order to be cancelled and my money returned. The cook yelled out "Megan, I need you to cancel an order!" A woman came from the back with sun glasses on. She did not say hi or acknowledge me, she did something with the register, took my card, swiped it, turned around and walked away. She did not say one thing to me. I asked if I could have a receipt for the order cancellation. She yelled from the back, "it doesn't work that way." I made the comment that I couldn't believe there were 4 employees there, and no one was answering the phone, and no one was doing any cooking. There were no other customers in the restaurant. One gentleman came in after me and placed an order and someone must have called in an order because the young lady was building a burger and the young man who took my order bagged 2 orders of fries. As the owner or manager of this Blakes, they should be seriously concerned about the level and quality of service. I've been in the food service business and I understand that it gets busy and hectic and mistakes are made and things forgotten. That is not what was going on here. These people seemed like they were not even aware that they were at work and had a job to do. Disappointed. I have been searching for a place to get good breakfast burritos in Albuquerque and someone recommended Blake's Lotaburger. I ordered a breakfast burrito with beans, a drink, and a medium seasoned fries. I was given my order and I took it home to eat. Sadly, I didn't receive my French fries (which I had to pay extra for to have them seasoned) and my burrito contained only beans, the rest of the breakfast burrito was no where to be found! The only thing they got right was the drink, and that's because I filled it up myself. On top of that, the cashier was very absentmindedly taking my order while it seemed like he was trying to listen in on a conversation some other people were having behind me. Bad service. Blake's Lotaburger used to be really good but the new texan owners are running it into the ground. I don't eat there often anymore because the burgers keep getting smaller and smaller. Just got a burger there last night and it was smaller than the old Itsa Burgers were! I can't imagine how small the Itsa Burgers are now. They charge too much for the add-ons too. Horrible service! When I arrived I was given one sandwich, one season fry, and one regular fry when I should have had two sandwiches and two season fries. When I tried to tell them it wasn't correct the guy who shirt says assistant manager started telling me it wasn't and that's what I ordered which was incorrect I then asked them to fix it and they got it wrong again and gave me another regular fry and I had to turn around and ask them again and the manager told me he didn't charge me for the other fry so he cannot give me another one which makes no sense because it wasn't correct to begin with and then they tried to correct and still did not get it right. Went out of my way to go to this location based on the crappy reviews of the San Antonio drive location for which I normally go to while in town and was soooo happy I did.
