Blanc & Rouge is a cute little wine shop in Dumbo, not too far from Brooklyn Heights. Everyone who works there is nice and consultative, and will help you out with finding the right bottle for you. I'm mostly a fan of sparkling, and I've gotten a few really nice bottles, including a neutral Prosecco that's great for mixing into cocktails. I've also gotten delivery from here once, and they were super speedy and accommodated my tight deadline. Delivery is available in the vicinity, and their ordering platform from their website is easy to use. Will definitely be visiting and ordering from here in the future! read more

The two gentlemen manning the place, when my friend and I entered, were very knowledgeable. We popped in because my friend said he never tried Greek wine before. When you walk into Blanc & Rouge you are typically greeted with a quick "hello" from the staff, who almost always are in the middle of bingeing wine with co-workers at the register. At any time of day, you will find the young staff hurdling around open bottles of wine competing with each other with bits of wine nerdom. The wines are good and the prices are a bit higher than average, but this is expected with being in Dumbo. To put it bluntly, the customer service needs help and you might leave a bad taste after leaving when you realize you mostly overpaid for the bottle at a shop where the staff has massive blind spots. read more

Very cool place to pick up a bottle of your favorite liquor to go. The gentleman working there had a very good knowledge of wines and he explained how some wines differ in boldness vs subtle and the differences between dry vs sweet. I went harder and ordered a bottle of Jameson whiskey !! Good customer service despite the price tag.. . Definitely a place to stop by for a quick purchase if your planning to have a event in the area that permits the use of alcohol in the open or just visiting a friend in the area. read more

Prices listed online are not accurate. They advertise a lower price and sell it higher in the store. Went in to buy a bottle advertised for $69.99 online. Same bottle (size and vintage) in store was $99.99. When I inquired about it worker said they would cancel the order if I tried to place it online and they don't update those prices. read more

Adorable little wine shop with a good selection and the friendliest help. Every time I come in here, I end up in a little side convo with the people who work here. They are happy to help you find what you need in your budget. I was happy to see that they had a range of price points and the store is organized nicely so you can walk through with ease. I've frequented this store for years and am surprised by all of the bad reviews of their customer service. I mean, the vibe may not be for everyone. They are laid back, snacking and drinking wine in the store, chatting amongst themselves sometimes, and let you explore on your own. But they'll usually offer help if you seem perplexed and always offer insightful advice if asked. Nice curated selection that changes with the seasons. Only reason it is not a 5 is that you CAN buy the same stuff a little cheaper if you are willing to travel/price shop. read more

Cocky management. I was once a dedicated patron of this booze and wine shop. But here's a reality check: if you decide to operate a liquor store in NEW YORK - don't be antagonistic toward patrons who show up at the ghastly late hour of 8:58PM. MANAGER staring me down, finger waving... "One minute! You've got ONE MINUTE". Pretty gross. I actually left work 20 minutes early one night just so I could give Blanc et Rouge my business over the other guy (who's open till 10pm and is more conveniently located to my apartment, because I enjoy and make a habit of supporting local businesses). Maybe the irate behavior is due to the staff's alcohol consumption whilst on the job. They're usually tipsy or more. No problem there - I just don't like belligerent drunks. Blanc et Rouge, GROW UP! I live in the area and have for the last three years. I keep giving this place a chance, and although they have a great selection, the staff is hit or miss. Customer service is just as important as content. There's one person in particular who on a couple of occasions has been passive aggressive and condescending, which is the last thing you want out of your wine shop! Let me put it this way: if I come home with a bag from any other wine store, my husband goes to the fridge and grabs a beer. It's not that he's a snob, it's that I've bought so many duds from other wine stores, he knows what to expect. No duds from B&R, though. We've been going to B&R for as long as we've lived in Dumbo. They have a fantastic selection of wines in our usual under-$15 price range, but their selection goes alllll the way up if that's your thing. The staff is just as happy to let me do my thing and grab my regular bottle as they are to help me choose the perfect complement to whatever I'm cooking for dinner. They also have a decent selection of spirits, including some interesting ones like vodka made from apples. I have had several terrible customer service experiences here to the point where even with the convenient location I refuse to make purchases here anymore. The last straw was a time I placed a 100 dollar order for delivery through their website. A confirmation of sale page popped up on the site and my credit card was charged. After a few hours went by with no delivery we gave the store and call. The manager claimed that the order had not come through their system and our ONLY option would be to place the order/pay for the order a SECOND time and work with our credit card company to dispute the first payment. Since we live on the same block we even offered to walk over to the store to show the confirmation on their website and credit card charge but NOPE the manager said even if we did there would be absolutely nothing she could do. Over all this was an appalling customer service experience not only because of the above but also because of the managers unforgiving and condescending attitude over the phone. Based on other reviews I am seeing who ever owns this place should seriously consider shaking up their staff. read more

This is my go-to wine shop on my way home from work. When I first started frequenting this place, some of the staff was a bit cold but I have to say they've got some new folks working there recently and they've been much warmer. The shop always has great inexpensive "grab and go" bottles, as well as an assortment of higher priced wines. They've also got a little assortment of liquors. I've come in a few times in the evenings when they've been having tastings, and always discover something new and interesting. read more

I used to dread purchasing wine, most notably because I knew nothing and would just nod my head to anything they said after I enlisted a touch of help. Me: Yeah, dry. Me: Yeah, oaky. Me: Yeah, tannins. Then one of two things happened - wine became cool or I got old enough to appreciate it. CNN will run a poll on this later tonight. To my knowledge, Blanc & Rouge is the only wine purveyor in DUMBO and even if they aren't, you don't need to go anywhere else. The selection is not overwhelming, the prices are perfect and the assistance, that is still necessary for most of us, is always on point. A foolproof plan would be to order pickup from Rice, swing into Blanc & Rouge, ask for help pairing your wine with your takeout, make the pickup and then take it all home. Of course in your foolproof plan, you have a fireplace, a super-hot woman or man of your choosing and of course, Babyface there to sing. What? It was your plan. read more

Great selection of wine and charming store. I stopped by for the first time to buy gifts for a client. Maybe I caught them on an off day. The staff huffed when I asked for refrigerated rose and didn't offer a shopping bag so I stuffed my purchases in my purse. As this shop is nearby and we had not been, I made a point to come here with my husband and browse the wines. They have a seemingly impressive selection; not too much or too little. We purchased 3 bottles of different red varieties that we had never tried before at different price points. The 60.00 bottle was impressive so I "googled it" and was upset to find I could have bought it for 35.00 at a wine shop in upper manhattan near where I work. I could not believe the price disparity. Really DUMBO- Gah! The man at the counter did have some knowledge about why dry oregon pinot noir was different than Sonoma County and what not. My hubby thought he sounded pretentious, but I appreciated his umm knowledge. However, total fail on pricing! read more

Every single time I come to the shop I am treated rudely/curtly. I was in line tonight buying two small bottles of Knob Creek and the heavy set woman with the gap in her teeth with the curly hair was incredibly rude. She is always this way. She didn't treat the customer before me that way but he was a white man. I work on Plymouth Street and stop by frequently because I'm in the neighborhood. I wonder if the staff treats all Black customers this way? Why was I spoken to differently than the previous customer? Why am I treated rudely every single time I'm in the shop? Great customer service. Our friend bought us a bottle of champagne here as a gift when our daughter was born and told us to pick it up at our convenience. One thing led to another, and we didn't make it until eight months later! The woman at the desk knew exactly what I was talking about and was so sweet. This place has the WORST customer service. I live in the neighborhood and only go because they carry a product I can not get at the other wine store by me. The staff is incredibly rude. No one greets me when I walk in, I have never been asked if I need help finding a product, the cashier/clerk is always drinking with a wine rep (which they do not offer samples to customers.. isn't that kind of the point). I moved out of dumbo over a year ago, and I still stop by Blanc & Rouge every so often to say hello and pick something out from their diverse & delectable offerings. I think this is one of the best wine shops in Brooklyn, and I live near a few of the very good ones. The staff's not only knowledgeable but happily down to earth and easy to talk to. read more

Josh - you are the owner right? The only reason I'm giving your store 1 star is because of its nicely curated wine selection and because I could not give it zero stars. I typically buy my wines from Montague Wines and Spirits since I live a block away but my friend, who also lives in Brooklyn Heights, and I decided to hike down to Dumbo for a few bottles of wine that our store does not carry. The first thing I told my friend was , 'too bad the service is not good'. Sure enough, the really skinny woman with really long hair was as pedantic and snotty as always. When my friend asked about a specific wine, she replied " what exactly do you want to know"? Uuuhhhh, if we asked you, clearly we didn't know about the wine. I, blunt, outspoken, supporter of local businesses and a believer of good service controlled myself since my friend was buying a few bottles. We were livid with the answer. She was rude, disrespectful and arrogant and made us feel we were doing her a favor of patronizing the shop she works for. She then started talking about duck to a patron who walked in the store while casting intent sideway glances at us, as if making sure we were not sneaking bottles out. Seriously! We walked out, we're never coming back and telling all our friends in Brooklyn Heights to never go there! I'm taking my business somewhere else until this person is not there. My husband and I went there after finding some casual (under $100 ) but interesting bottles of wine. We buy a couple of hundreds of bottles a year and source them from certain wine merchants but from time to time there are bottles from lesser known producers bigger merchants don't carry. When my husband called and talked to a guy on Sunday, the guy was nice and had enough knowledge to talk about the wine we called in for. We could have asked them to ship the bottles but we decided to stop by to see the store. We visited there Saturday evening and picked up total of 8 bottles. There was a woman with glasses at the cashier. She knocked down our bottles three times...! She packed bottles in bags, and we needed to ask her to put dividers as she didn't care multiple bottles hitting each other in a bag. She doesn't understand wines nor respect wines. She probably is not eager to learn about them either. When I went through the store, I found some interesting bottles and am sure there are some other sales clerks who understand wine but this is probably the first and last time I buy from the store. read more

On Monday, September 24, 2018, I called to have a case of Maris delivered to a client in Dumbo as a thank you gift. Benjamin took the order, but didn't ask which Maris. I had only had their red, and did not realize that Maris has a rosé, as well. Needless to say, a case of rosé was delivered to this client in Dumbo, rather than a red. When I found this out on Tuesday, I called and spoke to Benjamin. He didn't offer up an apology or assume any responsibility in the confusion. He found a suitable replacement for $1 more per bottle. Rather than absorbing the $12 charge to make things right and deliver good customer service, we are now on day four of an unresolved client issue. I've never encountered this level of contempt for a customer before. I'll be filing a report with the Better Business Bureau, with the NYPD, and will ask an NYC-based newspaper or magazine to cover this story. Or perhaps, Blanc & Rouge can call me back to make things right. read more

Staff's knowledge seems impressive and there is a nice variety of wine here, though I'm not sure I saw anything for less than $15/bottle. I'd give four stars if this store offered a discount on 1/2 cases, which seems to be industry norm but they do not --they only give discounts on cases. read more

The reviewer Jason L. must have a grudge. " Oxidized wine", five or six times in a row ? That is a beyond whacky story. I have been going there for years, I have no personal connection to the employees or the store. The wine selection is very good, the staff are almost too helpful (I prefer to ruminate and rummage by myself at length). The store ownership has changed hands at least once but the quality remains strong. Since it opened I have bought more wine than I care to admit and never an oxidized bottle. Has every bottle been amazing ? No, if I said that it was you should assume I'm lying. My experiences have been consistently positive. The only negative for me is it's a bit dark, no doubt to protect the wines and exude the energy of a wine cellar . . . it makes searching a little more arduous. Overall a great place. read more

Went in one night to buy a bottle of whiskey. A friend of mine had a lifelong dream of drinking whiskey at night on the Brooklyn Bridge, so we found the closest bottle shop possible. The two people working were super helpful and friendly! The bottle we chose didn't have a price available, so they looked it up online and gave us a fair price: very reasonable.
