For a Mexican restaurant the enchiladas didn't taste fresh, more like they were heated up, rice had zero flavor & my ceaser salad had cubes of chicken that were def not grilled as per the menu and drenched in dressing. I affectionately call this type of Mexican food-- "white washed Mexican." It's not authentic but it's not necessarily bad either. There will be no spice in your tomato base salsa but the margarita will be good. I got the "Poblano Cheese Crisp" because it was cheap and I wasn't finding anything I'd love. It had 5 quarter size pieces of poblano pepper. And a light dash of their "coquina" cheese. I was there for the drinks, the view and shopping after. But if your goal is good Mexican food, don't be afraid to venture south of 22nd. read more

Normally, I don't go to Mexican food restaurants because it's hard to find legit Mexican food, but this place was a pleasant surprise. Ah, summer. The usual long waits have subsided. That said, the servers here hustle because they often seem short-staffed. If outdoor temperatures allow, ask to be seated on the patio to take in more of the gorgeous view. As the sun sets, the city's lights begin to twinkle. It's quite lovely. Your plant-based friends will do ok here, but your vegan friends will be hard pressed to find much to eat. We typically order guacamole for the table. The chips often are too salty, but the guac is very tasty. For entrees, my go-to is the carmelized sweet potato enchiladas, and my partner's is the grilled mahi tacos. The enchiladas come with two sides, which makes for an ample serving. If you're not hungry, you may have leftovers. I usually accompany my dinner with a mango stand margarita. It's tropically delicious and sweet-spicy. The last time I ordered it, the spice was up a notch - whew! Finally, if you have room, there are two options for dessert. The manager reached out and my colleagues and I went again so I am sharing our experience. We got a pitcher of the pineapple jalapeño margaritas, which was excellent and we got guacamole. I opted for carnitas tacos this time, my other colleagues got tacos and a burrito. The chips and salsa was one of the better combos we had while in Tucson. All the food was very good as it was the first time we went. The service was better this time, though the wait for the food/drinks again took longer than what seemed reasonable, but not nearly as long as the first time. My favorite thing about coming here is sitting at the bar facing out. The view of the Tucson valley is really beautiful. The food is good, but a bit pricey for the amount of food you get. I really liked the spicy mango ceviche, because it had large chunks of shrimp. The bartenders were very attentive and made a really great Paloma. Overall, we enjoyed our time here. I and super picky when it comes to Mexican food because there's nothing that comes close to my Mamá's delicious Mexican food. I've been here several times and have not been happy with the food. I came in expecting about the same. I was pleasantly surprised this time around. I ordered the Mahi tacos with the house made corn tortillas. The fish had flavor and had great texture. The beans were quite flavorful along with the rice. I was happy to have a great meal all around. This is a "modern" Mexican place with an excellent bar and a great vibe, and very good food that is sometimes a slight twist on traditional Mexican food. When we arrived it was super busy but we were seated after waiting no more than 15 minutes. In that time we got some tasty margaritas and, since they had such a huge selection of tequilas, I had a really helpful talk with the bartender about her favorites (I know wine and whisky, but not tequila). After we sat and ordered, our food came surprisingly quickly so they are very efficient. I really liked their chicken pastor (you almost always only pork al pastor) and their grilled avocado tacos. Others at our table raved about their caramelized sweet potato enchiladas so much that I decided I've gotta learn how to make that at home. Went out for a Christmas event with my family . Blanco's is a place we have gone before never have been impressed but I thought I would give it another chance. We ordered a bean burrito with fries tacos etc. the tortilla were bad . Beans were ok , the French fries were terrible, greasy floppy and old tasting . Cheese crisp was just so so . I could be more forgiving about these things but this is supposed to be an elevated dining experience not Taco Bell. Honestly I would have preferred Taco Bell. The service was also lacking I had to ask 4 times for a glass of water . And everyone else at the table had resigned themselves to only having the one drink they received at the beginning. If you want upscale Mexican dining there are many other options I would recommend that are worth it. read more

We really enjoyed our happy hour/dinner visit here the past couple of times we've gone! They have a small but sufficient happy hour drink/cocktail selection and their house margarita is my go to. They'll make it less sweet if requested and it was wonderful! The salsa from the chips and salsa they bring out to start is fresh and flavorful (we always ask for extra and they're super nice about it!) This last visit I got the carne asada fajitas and they were delicious. The marinade was super flavorful and the sides were perfect, from street corn that wasn't too heavy to fresh pico. This one entree was easily enough food for us to split. We'll be back for more happy hours and dinners! read more

Very poor service and food on Sunday night (6:30 pm) 11/23. Took family from out of town to this restaurant expecting a nice experience. Sadly the food took a full hour to be served. The wait staff barely had time to get us a round of drinks. When the food arrived only two of the four diners were served. After roughly 10 minutes the other two meals arrived. These meals were both ceviche. This is the really sad part. The ceviche fish was served as frozen blocks of ice. Inedible. The ceviche was returned and 10 minutes later a single serving of thawed ceviche was brought to our table. The Manager was excellent and comped our meals. But what was to be a nice experience turned into a stressful night. read more

Our last experience was great at Blanco. That is largely due to the OUTSTANDING service from Kacey. She really was on her game. She's very personable, she knows the menu well, she was able to guide us through gluten-free options, she checked on us at just the right times to see if we needed anything (drinks, more chips, etc.), and she was just warm and a lot of fun to have as a server. We've had a service issue here once or twice before but that is not an issue with Kacey as your server. It certainly doesn't hurt that the food quality is so good. Sometimes you don't realize it until you've dined at another Mexican restaurant how good Blanco is, but here is an example. I rarely notice the quality of chips and/or salsa, but after dining at a different Mexican restaurant and then Blanco after that, it is clear how great both the chips and the salsa are here. Fresh, warm, crispy chips. Salsa not runny but not so thick that can't maneuver it on a chip, flavorful, and just the right spice level. Queso don't even get me started, it's great, a show-stopper, and you just need to order it. Absolutely love the pork Chile Verde enchiladas but other enchiladas are great here too, as are the tacos. We don't often get guacamole here either but when we do, it's fresh and delicious. We will definitely return. read more

I had been to this restaurant in Oak Brook, IL a month or so back on a work trip and had a couple of things occur whereby the manager gave me a gift certificate. The Hubs and I decided to try the location here in Tucson for a late lunch and had a great experience. They were busy, even at 3 in the afternoon so we sat at the bar. The Bartender/server was fantastic and quickly fixed us up some drinks -- I had the "Green Daisy" and it was SO delicious that I ended up having two! They brought us chips/salsa - and my husband who is a self appointed salsa expert was a huge fan. We did a guacamole appetizer, chicken fajitas and a taco combo plate (shrimp/mahi mahi). The food was as great and flavorful as other location. My husband is Hispanic and is super picky about any type of Mexican food -- even what he calls *foofy* Mexican food. He loved it (I have to admit, I was surprised at his extra enthusiasm) and I think it is in part due to it just being great food, regardless of regional influence. Best Sonoran Restaurant Week value in Tucson! We've been avid attendees of this event every year. While I prefer to patronize establishments that curate a truly unique menu for this special 10-day event (Tito!), I recognize that many restaurants already have a "Sonoran" vibe to their regular menu and simply pluck from there. The other component of this event is the pre-assembly of a 3-course menu (typically appetizer, entree, dessert) although some do only 2 courses and add a drink. The general spirit of this event is to offer a slightly discounted introduction for folks to explore the cornucopia of eateries in Tucson. Alas, many do not do that. On the cautionary there are some establishments whose Sonoran menu is actually more costly than the sum of the individual parts, or certainly not an introductory bargain (looking at you Coronet, Agave, and El Taco Rustico)! Blanco's in La Encantada is not one of those violators. Their Sonoran menu, while largely a sampling of their usual daily menu, is a true bargain. We estimated by about 25% less versus ala carte and this will have us returning to try different combos of their 3-course prix fix Sonoran menu! On this occasion we chose the spicy mango Ceviche which arrives with a substantial amount of freshly diced veggies/mango and small chunks of shrimp (see pic). For entrees we chose the short rib birria burrito and the green chili pork enchiladas (see pics). Both came with choice of beans (black; Mx; or refried (not on the menu but ask!) and white rice. Both entrees were delicious and filling. Among the two dessert options, we chose the Mx tiramisu. We've had the flan before but this tiramisu is superbly creative. It has a mild spiciness, a terrific crunch in the crumbles on top, mildly bitter-sweet choc cream in the middle, and delicious cake at the bottom of the mug. Dive your spoon straight down to capture a little bit of each of these layers. All this (app; 2 entrees; 1 desert) for $35 and complimentary chips/salsa to boot! No wonder they were packed Sat afternoon. Next time we will be trying the queso Blanco (app) and the sweet potato enchiladas and carnitas (entrees). Although this is a small chain restaurant (9 establishments), they have a nice "localized" menu and terrific service. They do take reservations even just for two, so take advantage. If you forget, fret not, you can very easily kill an hour wandering around La Encantada, as we ended up doing. read more

Two stars for the great patio views, our server being was kind and attentive, and the host team putting down the roll up shades quickly when we ended up getting sat in the sun after asking for shade. Overall, I'd recommend people go anywhere else for Mexican food in Tucson. I think I should've known better because it's Mexican food chain in a UNESCO City of Gastronomy but we were already at La Encantada for an event. Starting off we went for happy hour and I felt like the available deals were really high priced, even for the area. Worst part of it all is that for the money, it wasn't good. We were brought chips and salsa when we sat down which I appreciated. The salsa was good, the chips were really really salty. Next we ordered the happy hour queso and the tomato and poblano cheese crisp. The batch of the chips that came out weren't just super salty, but caked with salt as you can see in my photo. The queso was fine, but honestly flavor profiles were similar to a grocery store or fast food queso. The final straw to deter me from going again was the cheese crisp. Texture wasn't great and it really didn't even look or taste like southwestern cuisine, just some cheddar cheese melted with a regular tomato and some chunks of cilantro and a pepper. We ended up trying one slice and not eating the rest of it. The server asked multiple times if we wanted a box and we simply let him know that we didn't enjoy the items much, hence there was quite a bit left, so we didn't want to take it home. When we went to pay it off our bill, the cheese crisp was removed. Maybe you could go for happy hour drinks and ask for unsalted chips with the salsas and have a good time enjoying the view, but Blanco just wasn't somewhere I'd like to try again with so many better options in Tucson. read more

This place is a great date spot. Nestled in the southeast corner of the la encantada shopping center. It has a great patio and view of the city. This combined with the awesome happy hour menu/prices was a sweet kickoff to our weekend. The bbq taco was a little too sweet for my taste but the other three were delicious. Went with a friend here on a Sunday at lunchtime. Not a good time. We didn't have reservations so we opted to sit at the bar. The view is beautiful. Unforgently it was a blustery day in Tucson so the doors kept blowing open. After sitting there for 5 minutes, a bartender dropped off some menus. Another 10 minutes later, he came to take out drink orders. This was our first mistake, we should have given our full order. We were just having sodas, so it should be quick. About 5 minutes later, another bartender asked if we had been helped, we said we had, second mistake. But at least he dropped off some chips and salsa. Another 10 minutes later, still no drinks and not taken our food order. Of course others at the bar who came in after us got their orders. Oh and of course the two cute ladies on the other side got lots of attention at the expense of everyone else. We walked out. I have eaten there in the past and the food is decent, but not with poor service. read more
