    What a lively place
    Dawn C.

I have a great affection for Guadalajara original grill. Many years ago, I went to the location on Prince, and since then numerous locations have opened up this location in the former Macayos restaurant is a good spot between many of my family in the NW side of town to meet my husband and I for dinner. For those of us in Tucson we know there are numerous restaurants that offer regional dishes that are unique and Guadalajara original grill is no exception. Their Chiles en Nogada and Chilean sea bass are favorites of mine. As simple as this may be, I love their mini chimichangas. often times I might just come in and order one of the house margaritas and a side of beef mini chimneys from their appetizer menu and I am happy as a clam. Recently, my husband and I were able to celebrate a very dear friends 60th wedding anniversary and they were able to accommodate a party of 20. Not only was the food well received by all of our friends, but taking photographs of the beloved couple with the vibrant background murals, the tableside salsa and guacamole, the tortilla making station, all was a positive and exciting experience. To celebrate at Guadalajara Grill was just a a wonderful element of our celebration. I think people visiting from outside Arizona will really appreciate the extensive menu: combo plates with an enchilada, taco beans and rice or fajitas or any number of typical Mexican dishes. Guadalajara original Grill is consistent. The staff provide diligent service and made adjustments and corrections quickly. I highly recommend visiting this location. The inside is vibrant and filled with colorful murals, and often they have live music for the diners.

The ambiance and atmosphere are a big highlight here, especially the table-side salsa made fresh in hot, medium, or mild. While the carne asada didn't quite hit the mark for me, everyone else thoroughly enjoyed their meals. The mini chimichangas and nachos were crowd favorites, and the service was very friendly and attentive.

This place was pretty good! They made salsa right by the table which was amazing and she customized it to our spice level and everything! The service was good we got our food quick and the ambiance was very cozy! I will probably try something else next time I go (I got the chicken tacos and they were a bit dry) but my friend loved her chimichanga!

Hmm stopped by on a Thursday evening with a group of 3. Sat down and the ambiance of the place is lively. They even had a person playing live music near the entrance. My favorite thing here period was the salsa. They have a cart full of everything needed to make salsa and guac and they make the salsa fresh in front of you when you sit down. Something unique in the salsa were the roasted peppers not sure what kind but it gave the salsa an acidity that wow was amazing. Perfectly salted too. I did order the guac which we paid extra to have that made table side as well; however, the guacamole to my taste was nothing special. Moving onto the entrees we ordered a steak Molcajete, Mexican Paella, and then a 3 variety enchilada plate. Moljacete was our favorite entree by a good bit too - steak was tender, hot, vegetables tasty. Paella was really good and had plenty of seafood in it, but just TOO salty. The enchiladas were verde sauce with beef, white cheese with chicken, and red sauce with like saucy pork. Favorite was red sauce followed by verde, last white. All in all great meal, loved the salsa and variety of food we can get that all tasted authentic.

We were looking for a Mexican restaurant in Tucson and found this gem close by our hotel. Tableside making of guacamole was amazing to watch. I am so forever gonna remember the homemade flour tortillas - especially that I couldn't get any to go. Menu was pretty expansive and pricing was reasonable. Extremely tasty and atmosphere was welcoming and inviting. Give it a go!

The food was absolutely amazing. The table side made salsa was delicious. The fresh made guacamole was delicious. It was so good we went back twice on our trip. The service was also great both times we were there. Everyone was very friendly. Definitely recommend trying it out!

Still great food and service! Still our favorite spot! Still come back every trip to Tucson!

My husband, sister-in-law and I dined here once while visiting Tucson. I had excellent chicken mole with chocolate bananas chilis spices My husband had spinach enchiladas with tomato and zucchini My sister-in-law had an combination of chicken bravo, carnitas enchilada and a shredded beef enchilada There was a salsa wagon with salsa made to order at your table: on hot medium mild. You are expected to tip the salsa preparer. need to tip For dessert we shared flan. Everything was very good, especially the mole sauce.

Wanted to go here since last year but the drive is long from where i am. Finally made it up that way today and was not let down! The decor takes me right back to some of my favorite Mexican restaurants in my old state, Place is SUPER clean. Really nice staff and clean restrooms too! Menu is straight forward and standard for the type of restaurant it is. We were seated and had an easy time looking at options, but a hard time deciding on what to get. Since it was our first time, I got a combo plate of the Shredded Beef Taco and the Pork Tamale. The old lady got her usual of Chicken Fajitas. Not realizing they have gone snowbird as a heat level, after receiving the chips and salsa, i called the waiter over and asked for actual salsa. Something with heat. I wasn't let down too bad, basically, they add pickled jalapeno seeds to the regular salsa. This was NOT the tableside salsa, btw...We'll get that next time. Chips were nice. The food arrived, the plate of fajitas piled high with ingredients, definitely big enough for 2 people. My taco and tamale were well made. Taste of the taco and beans were spot on for what we expected, but the Tamale was INSANE great! Perfect amount of masa to meat, the masa light and fluffy-ish. The rice was really nice and flavorful. The Fajitas came with actual FRESH tortillas. Im guessing there's an Abuela in back slaving over a tortilla press or machine... We will come again for sure, everything fresh and full of flavor and life. And now, understanding that I can asked them not to snowbird the food, Im prepared to be more adventurous in the future visits to one of the locations. Yum and so many more yums....Try it and see!!

El Charro kept…read morepopping up in our search, and since we love exploring historic places with a story, it seemed like the perfect choice. Located in downtown Tucson, this iconic restaurant is full of character and beautifully decorated. We visited on a Saturday around 1 PM without a reservation and were told there would be a wait since the place was packed. They only have air conditioning in the indoor dining areas and basement, not on the outdoor patio. Luckily, we were seated in the basement, which turned out to be perfect. The service was commendable truly some of the sweetest and most attentive service we've experienced in a long time. We started with freshly made chips and salsa, which were an instant hit. For drinks, we ordered the El Tamarindo, Mangopeno, and Monica's Cafetini. For food, we chose the Vegan Jackfruit Taquitos Trio and the Fresh Corn Tamale Platter, which came with a side of squash. The drinks were excellent, with the Mangopeno being my favorite. But the real star of the meal was the tamale platter. Oh my goodness it was absolutely delicious! Everyone at the table kept digging in and couldn't get enough. Even the squash side was so flavorful that we ordered an extra serving. The vegan jackfruit taquitos were a bit too deep-fried for our liking and didn't quite compare to the incredible tamales. To finish, we shared a caramel flan, which was the perfect sweet ending to the meal. The pricing was very reasonable, the service was exceptional, and the food was memorable. We will definitely be back again if only for those amazing tamales!

Chips were solid, although the salsa was pretty bad. Not sure if this is baseline or I got a bad batch but it was close to inedible. It tasted like spicy ketchup. For my entree, I had a beef burrito and it was also underwhelming. Meat was very dry and bland. Beans and guacamole were fine but did not salvage the meal overall. Oh also you have to pay for parking. Lot is $9 for the day and street parking was $2.50 for 2 hours which wasn't bad.

Spacious patio area, with cool lights, umbrellas, and many tables. If you have a choice and it isn't too hot, sit outside. The food is stellar! I got their ranch style flat enchilada, which is more or less a thick masa topped with enchilada flavors and spices. So yummy. (And it's vegetarian too!) The rest of the table (3 more) ordered the green chicken enchiladas. They didn't need to rave about it: their plates were completely clean at the end of the meal! We ordered Tamarindo and Horchata drinks between us, and frankly, the Tamarindo is some of the best I've ever had anywhere. Service can be a little slow, especially if they're busy. The restaurant was packed and it was the holidays so it was understandable. We were told to wait at the back of the restaurant which we did. We waited for over an hour and then were told our table was ready, so we got up and followed. Then someone else came up and they both started whispering and then told us that we would not be seated after all. We asked what had happened (was the kitchen too busy?) but were not told anything other than "she told us not to seat you". The secretive whispering made it a very confusing situation. We sat back down and waited some more. Eventually we got seated, but then the food took another hour to come after we ordered. We asked a few times for water refills but eventually gave up when it didn't come. The plus side - the FOOD. The mole sauce was really good, best I've had! The chicken mole was my favorite dish but the beef with chile was also spectacular. Both corn and flour tortillas were so good here. It was really delicious and I would come back for the food, but not for the service.

Honestly, I wish I could give Yaquesita a little more, maybe half a star more, because this place definitely has potential. Their flavors are good, but compared to similar restaurants the menu feels a bit overpriced. For a party of three we ended up paying around $100, which felt like a bit much for what we got. The restaurant itself is pretty small with only about 3-4 tables inside, but the patio is a decent size and has a cute vibe. It's actually a nice option on cooler days if you don't mind sitting outside. Some items were better than others. The wet-style burrito was delicious and definitely a highlight. The quesabirrias were good, however the birria felt more like fancier shredded beef. It was missing that rich, spicy, slightly acidic, earthy flavor that usually sets birria apart from barbacoa or traditional shredded beef dishes. The bowl was just okay and had lots of lettuce. It felt more like a salad with a bit of meat, rice, and beans. Honestly, Chipotle does bowls better, and that says a lot considering the price. The nachos were good, but I've had better. Seis Kitchen has amazing nachos to share. That said, it's definitely a place I'd come back to mainly out of convenience, not because one particular item on the menu won my heart. I really do hope they continue refining the menu because the flavors are there and this place could easily become a standout spot. Personally I just think at the total price of my ticket other restaurants should not even have room in my mind during my meal. If you're in the area and looking for a safe bet where everyone will probably find something they like, it's worth giving them a try.
