Always loved blaze pizza. Usually it is a trip to the beach then to the mall when we get blaze. I love how they have tons of staff at this location. Service is always great and the team mbers are super nice. Build you own pizza is still a great deal and the wifey and I always make sure we get our moneys worth. I love the choices of toppings and sauces. I always mix the white and red sauce and they have my fav ricotta. I also love finishing my pizzas with arugala pesto evo and balsamic. The lines can be long and seating is limited. They have vegan cheese (Daiya) for vegans or allergy prone individuals. I like how they keep the vegan cheese separate from the other cheeses. However, their marinera sauce is next to the dairy cheese and hubby caught a piece of dairy cheese in the marinera sauce they were putting on my pizza. Their lemonade and agua Fresca is delicious! Very refreshing! They also carry regular fountain drinks. The pizza size is good and they now carry a total of 3 crusts including a Gluten free option. The original crust and Gluten free crusts are vegan. I love their crusts- Crunchy but doughy and not soggy at all. Yum! Much MUCH better than Pieology while using the same concept. Hungry during a shopping marathon at Carlsbad Outlets, I was looking over the limited food offerings listed on the information kiosk. A random stranger behind me told me Blaze made a fantastic pizza; he was right. They have a few "house" pizzas or you can build your own. After walking up to the counter you just select your sauce, cheeses and toppings. They slide it into a legit fire fueled oven and 3 minutes later it's ready (thanks to a very thin crust). We chose their traditional sauce along with mozzarella, ricotta, pepperoni, mushrooms, garlic and artichokes. All the ingredients were fresh and made for a superb pizza at an excellent price. I also got a "s'mores pie" which consists of a couple cookies that sandwich marshmallow and chocolate. Skip this one as you'll most likely be disappointed. The cookies were very dry and the chocolate meager. Stick with the pizza. Employees were all peppy and acted happy to be there. Price was inexpensive. I don't get to Carlsbad often but will definitely eat here again (probably while waiting for my wife while she spends an hour in Coach). read more

(ROTD 6/28/2014) It was Sunday morning and I was in a 9:30am cycling class at the gym. That bike might have been stationary but in my mind I was racing down Palomar Airport Road all the way to Blaze Pizza to enjoy a warm, crispy pizza pie. As a Carlsbad resident I never, ever, go to the Carlsbad Premium Outlet Center on the weekends but by arriving about 11am on a Sunday, parking was plentiful and the crowds were sparse. Plus, no one was around to admire my sweaty Sunday morning glow. I walked into Blaze and was enthusiastically greeted. The place was empty except lots of staff - just how I like it. I walked to the counter and ordered my pizza. I ordered the "Red Vine" pizza (ovalini mozzarella, cherry tomatoes, parmesan, basil, red sauce, olive oil drizzle) because after a 60 minute spinning class I certainly didn't have the energy to figure out what "make my own" ingredients I wanted. The pizza really hit the spot but I should have had some chicken added to it. The Red Vine pizza is basically a margherita with the addition of canned parmesan cheese, which really doesn't add anything to it. As another reviewer noted, their Signature Pizzas are basic, but not necessarily in a good way. Nevertheless, I enjoyed my thin crust pizza and diet Coke and even got a Smore Pie to go. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Even though you order at the counter, I appreciate that the staff does walk around to make sure everyone is enjoying their food. The restaurant has a modern vibe with splashes of retro orange that reminds me a lot of the Brady Bunch's orange kitchen counters. Since the floors are concrete and there are not any soft surfaces to absorb sound, I totally understand why other reviewers said it was loud in there. But, since I avoid the outlets during busy peaks like the plague, the noise will never be an issue for me. While I was enjoying my lunch the staff was sweeping up crumbs, dirt and dust from the floors. It was a little gross to be overlooking dirt piles while eating but I'll get over it. I've been to many build your own pizza places, but so far Blaze is my favorite. You could order the standard pizza, but I prefer it custom. I think it's the crust at Blaze that puts them above other joints. Just like other fast pizza places, Blaze gets your pizza out within minutes and with whatever toppings you want on it. Blaze offers the best fast-fired pizza in San Diego County. Period. I first ate here at a north county YEE earlier this year. The crew was really excited to be hosting us, and we met the chef that had designed the menu. He explained that all of the ingredients were absolutely the highest quality he could find, and that each store could choose a few toppings of their own. This seems to have worked, as Blaze is blazing across the County, with the latest store opening in Clairemont just a week or so ago. Today I ordered a custom pie with about a dozen toppings. It was delicious as usual. It's easy to overdo it with toppings, but the staff keeps the layering reasonable. The next time I eat at Blaze, I'm going to order the simple pie for $5.50. I'm a foodie, so for me the most important parts of pizza are having a light airy crispy crust with good quality fresh ingredients. What I did was to pick one from the menu and add a couple of extra ingredients to finish the pizza. I had the White Top which includes a white cream sauce base, mozzarella, bacon, garlic, arugula and dried oregano. On top of that I added olives, ovalini mozzarella (fresh mozzarella balls), mushrooms and Canadian bacon. My pizza was bomb! They added the arugula after it's out of the oven so it was raw and fresh! What a scrumptious and healthy pie there! Also tried their BBQ chicken which was just alright. I don't think Gorgonzola goes too well with BBQ chicken flavors... Their banana peppers are some interesting ingredients though! I like how they have so many different, and a few unusual, toppings to choose from. Was out running errands at the Carlsbad Outlet and decided to try this pizza place. You can select your toppings and sauce. You order at the counter, pay and they call out your name when your pizza is done. They had a lunch special for $5, which you get half a pizza (about 3 slices) with any topping you want if you order before 4 pm during the week. I opted to try this special, as I don't believe I can eat the whole pie by myself. It was a good thing I did, as I barely finished it. Sauce was a little tangy and wished I had a little more though. Overall, the pizza itself was pretty good. However, for some reason they wrote the wrong name on my order and had it to go even though I said I was eating there. While shopping at the Carlsbad Premium Outlets I noticed several open tables at Blaze ( I've never seen that before on a weekend) so I decided to give it a try. I ordered the art lover with Sausage (artichokes, mozzarella, ricotta, chopped garlic, red sauce, and the sausage I also added on). Their bold dollops of tomato sauce and strong garlic really won me over. They also have special lemonades too which we all enjoyed. I wont drone on about the parking here, but I will caution you about the crowds on the weekends. If you're lucky enough to find a table you'll likely have people hovering over you when you're close to being done. I'll actually seek out another family and have them take ours. - I think Blaze should be considered in the same conversions as Pieology as a very sold pizza place ( No matter what Bonnie G says).
