This is a great concept for a pizza place. Love how they make it right in front of you & you can customize it how you like it, ala Subway. Then they put it in the pizza oven & cook it to perfection. I'm a simple man when it comes to my pizzas & I always go for the simple pie with Organo & I usually get a S'more cookie, which they will warm in the pizza oven for you upon request. This pizza is cheap and really good. Don't pass it up because it's "fast food pizza". Its the same price for a completely custom made pizza or one from their menu. They have gluten free and vegan options. The only thing they don't have (last time I was there) was beef!! Which is my absolute favorite pizza topping... So 4/5 stars. This Pizza's on FIRE!!!! In a good way!!! This fast fresh pizza is phenomenal!!! From start to finish it was under 10 minutes and you don't leave with a pizza hangover (by that i mean the bloated icky feeling from too much dough). Their dough is made in house with clean ingredients. From the toppings to the sauce, its all fresh and made to order. The white pizza had mounds of mozzarella, a delicious white sauce, tons of basil, and I was able to add ingredients like fresh spinach and roasted garlic to my hearts content! I forgot to mention the BACON, fresh crumbled crispy bacon on top!! Super yummy!!! The pesto I got to take home for lunch the next day was some of the best I have had recently!!! My husband loved the BBQ pizza, not overly sauced, piled which chicken, onion, and peppers. He was in heaven!! The thing that makes this whole place tick is the amazing staff!!! They are super friendly and fast! Smiles and help down the entire line. They have a great communication system with a piece of parchment that follows your pizza so you don't have to keep repeating yourself.! To top off the night we had their S'mores pie, this cookie sandwhich is delicious!!! 2 flaky crumbly cookies with chocolate and marshmallow in between, you cannot go wrong!!! We were staying in Des Moines for the state wrestling tournament, just arrived in town so decided to order pizza instead of going out again because thekids just wanted to go swimming. So I ordered 2 pizzas, one 1/2 cheese and 1/2 pepperoni the other one sausage. When I placed the order I asked if they had paper plates to send, she said this is the call center, I don't think they have them. She did putme on hold and checked, they did not. But seriously...a call center and NO paper plates. The delivery girl was very nice. The sausage was good and we loved the spiciness of it. On the other hand the other one the kids wanted mainly was very burnt. I probably should have called and complained but it was after 9pm and all the kids wanted to do is get down to the pool so I didn't. If we have the chance to order there again I don't know if we would besides it taking longer than they said. read more

The staff is friendly, my only complaint is the cashier, she is there often and an older woman, I've never once seen her smile, she is very loud and abrasive. Blaze is a really neat concept of a pizza place in Des Moines. I had the privilege of trying it out through a Yelp event and was blown away. It's kind of like a subway, but with pizza and a real fired oven. The ingredients were all freshly made and everything tasted great. The line can get long, but for a customized pizza option that comes with the territory. The staff is very friendly and pretty generous on toppings. Not only located in a hip, cool area but a unique venue as well. YUM! Went to this spot for lunch today after not being able to find parking somewhere else--great decision! The line was out the door, but it goes by very quick. As a pizza connoisseur, I'm always up for trying a new place. I was a little apprehensive, as I've been to "fast cooked in wood oven" places similiar to this, and the pizza wasn't great. This, however, did not disappoint. I got the $7.95 Build your own pizza, with no topping limit. Until yesterday I truly believed our regional convenience store was as close to the best Pizza as any restaurant in the area. Yes, as good as that place you are thinking of. It's always been a case of missing one of the fundamentals. So along comes a Fast Food Pizza franchise, yeah fast food, and from California no less. Blaze Pizza has it figured. Simple good quality ingredients limiting the heaping on of toppings and making the crust numero uno and Job One of good pizza. They did it and all at a price that is a bargain. This place should not even be in my wheelhouse but it is now top of the heap best of the best for $7.95? This location is awful. Every other location I've been to is great and friendly but this location has some of the worst customer service I have ever seen and gives Blaze a bad rep. Their employees need a attitude check for sure. I went in today, the girl making my pizza was Ashlyn. There was no Hi, hello or anything because she decided talking to her friend who was standing in front of me was more important then helping me. I didn't even get acknowledged for at least 3-4 min. Ashlyn actually didn't even want to acknowledge me or help me at all. It took her friend standing in front of me to say "I think their waiting on you". Ashlyn replied "oh." And then laughed in my face like it was funny she had me waiting while she talked to someone. No sorry or anything just a laugh and then "what are we getting?". Really? If I was the manager of this location I would be embarrassed. You had many employees standing around as I was not being helped and Ashlyn was talking to a buddy. seriously? To make matters worse I had my hubby with me who was just as angry as I was. We came for pizza, not to listen to a high school convo. Sorry. When we finally got helped and we're waiting for our pizzas we were asked at the end "which ones yours?" ..... there was about 8 different pizzas sitting there. You tell me, you asked for my name didn't you? Maybe I wouldn't be so annoyed with this experience if I wasn't rudely rushed by another employee there "chris", on our 1st visit. Needless to say we won't be back to this location and that sucks because we like the pizza but you can't fix crappy customer Service when clearly management doesn't care. read more

I have been to this blaze pizza four times. I ordered online twice, and both times my pizza was not as I ordered it. The first time I ordered high rise crust and it was traditional thin crust when it was finished. The cook insisted it was high rise it just didn't rise which I know was untrue. I was in a hurry so I didn't have them remake it. The second time I asked for extra mushrooms and there were no mushrooms at all. The two other times inside the restaurant the pizzas were burnt, but still tasted delicious. What I like about Blaze Pizza is all of the topping options, the pizzas are made in front of you, and is faster than other pizza restaurants. What I don't like is how inconsistent the team is. read more
