I opened the seals to check the pizzas and they were hot and prepared well. We ordered the high-rise crust with pepperoni ham and meatballs. The pizza was well cooked and delicious. The price of the pizza was reasonable considering the fresh ingredients. We visited on a Sunday afternoon and it was almost impossible to find parking. When we arrived, there was ample amount of seating and you were able to order online for some discounted deals. However, the place was swamped and chaotic. To be fair, it seemed to be the general vibe overall for the area. We ordered online and our later party members took a while waiting in line to order. The staff seemed friendly and were dealing with the crowded as best they could. The pizzas were tasty. The drink station was a little messy, but not terrible. We sat outside in a shaded area, but we had to switch out one of the tables we occupied since it was super wobbly. I'm impressed how efficient they are. Lines are long especially during the holidays, but everyone working the line is doing everything right. It helps on our end that the toppings are nicely labeled. I like how I can pick all my toppings. Though I do love sauce and this crust may not hold it all up. I still think it's good and convenient for the price of just under $12 and I like how I can share this for the price. There's a bunch of restaurants close by but this one is probably the least expensive and maybe the quickest, & most efficient. I'd come back for those simple details. This place has went downhill considerably in recent months. Employees are lazy and lack any sort of motivation or drive to do their jobs. Just getting one to walk over and take your order is a major ordeal. When they do work they're impersonating corpses raised from the dead and forced to work. I blame this on this place's management not holding anyone accountable as clearly nobody is worried about losing their job. Pizza is standardized so it's impossible for them to screw that up. Or how about if the place opens up at 10:30 there's no reason why at 11:15 one of the workers is still trying to fill the pepper shakers. Which there were none on any table, but go figure the ones that she eventually put out first went to only tables with nobody sitting at them. This has got to be one of my most favorite of pizza experiences to come along in quite some time! The fact that it's an assembly line pizza is fantastic. The build your own option allows for choice of sauce, cheeses, meats, veggies, and spices. They even have fresh roasted garlic you can ask for extra extra amounts. You can load your pizza up with everything for one price, too (it was like 10.95 for a personal size). Then, to cook it. It's been a long time since my last review here when the place was filthy. They really brightened the place up. Got to move furniture some new umbrellas and new fans and lighting really look nicer, but they still can't seem to keep the tables and chairs clean. It's outdoor seating so I understand it's hard to keep bird poop off of the seats, but they really need to find a solution to that. They also never wiped the tables down in between customers, and I finally found one clean table and that's because it never gets used because it wobbles too much to put food on it! My husband loves Blaze Pizza so we go there often. Tonight's experience was not typical but warrants a review. We always sit outside and that area was alarmingly dirty. Most of the tables had no napkins and the area where we deposit trash and return the pizza pans was filthy. Inside, there was no ice in the soda machine and my husband's beer was warm. The best decision of all was the 1/2 pizza and salad. I chose just a few toppings (no meats) and let my guy TY choose my salad. Love how the bowl is designed for the salad. Everything we ordered was fresh. The service was excellent and those we interacted with were very pleasant and polite. Ambiance was good. The price very reasonable. One of the several places we will go back to. Cleanliness was another reason we would go back. I learned if the entrance door and floor are dirty, not swept, tables not wiped down and stuff around the food area, walk out. The first things I looked at as soon as I walked in. Door, floor and tables. Especially the tables. I would recommend this place before going to UTC to walk it off. The gluten free pizza is really good, but it is hit or miss if there is cross contamination. I have gotten pretty sick from my pizza being contaminated. I was really excited that a Blaze pizza opened up in Sarasota but gosh this location is consistently chaotic. As a family we have been going to the one in winter park location and that one has a dedicated employee who is continuously keeping the tables and floor clean and goes to every table asking if there is anything else they need. The employees who take your order and build your pizza and process your transaction are all efficient and kind and smiling. This university location however is the exact opposite. It's always dirty. The one who takes your order never places the pizza sheets in the right order. An employee grabbed the name of someone who was standing behind me in line and started building her pizza instead of putting the sheet aside and finding mine because hello, I'm the next one in line, I should be addressed first. The person behind me had to get in front of me and go first and the employee made it seem like I'm the problem. They all rush you through the pizza building, barely adding any cheese or toppings and being super messy. No smiles, no respect, just many teenagers and college students working there with zero desire to actually work. I asked for a side Caesar salad 3 times. They never made it for me or served to me as I paid for our meals. After the 3rd time a young gentleman finally got someone to make it for me. We have been to this location many times whenever we visit Sarasota and every single time it's like this. And honestly the employees are not the issue. It's management. If management is failing, than everything else goes down with it. Who ever the manager is, please make it a point to keep this location clean, please make it a point to hire and train staff who are kind and care about the details from taking the orders, building the orders and cooking those pizzas which is a whole other topic : they always either burn my gluten free pizza or serve it to me soggy. read more
