I haven't been here in years, probably close to 10, as my late brother in law and I used to stop in here and have lunch because it was close to his business. And sometimes you like to remember things the way that they were....but they still are! I always bypass busy businesses and Blazers is always busy. A buddy of mine and I were heading to our favorite Gardner cigar lounge and you should never have a cigar in an empty stomach. We walked in and the place was slammed and my first instinct was to bail, but this teenage girl behind the register said "Welcome to Blazers, how may I help you?" with authority and a big smile. I'm hard of hearing, but Jenna was patient and cheerful. Being busy, there was hardly a table available, but suddenly 2 came available and two former busboys pushing 60 sprung into action and cleaned them, but our order taker was quick to finish up for us ( perky and smiling all the while). The burgers were excellent, the crinkle fries were crispy, and a healthy selection of beverages was nice, too. Also, the place has a very happy vibe. Ordered food to go. When we went to pick up the food I had to tell them my name three times and wait in the normal line to pick up. There was a rowdy group of kids that must have just come from the pool and although there were several tables there eating, no one ever came out to tell them to quiet down. Fast friendly service and the food was great! Although the last couple of reviews raved about their burgers, they have much more than that. I was craving some greens, so had the Caesar salad with grilled chicken. It was a good-sized salad with lots of chicken. I lived in Gardner for almost 4 years. We ate here several times. It's a cute little "hole in the wall" with decent food. However, the employees are always super nice but you can tell they are miserable working there. I have never had a personal experience or issue with the owners, however recently several employees came out about how immature, rude, disgusting, and mean the owners are to their employees. Of course, in any business you're always going to have some employees not satisfied, you can't please everyone. HOWEVER, when some of these employees posted in the local City group with screenshots of how disgusting and immature the owners were and how they bullied employees telling them they are losers, etc. Wally the male owner started commenting on it with absurdity and just dug himself deeper. I strongly advise nobody frequent this place until the new owners take over. These Borth's are bad bad news. Most employees at this point are afraid to say anything about them because of how crazy they are the lengths they'll got to. read more

I came to Gardner for the day and I am a big fan of eating were the locals eat. I was recommended to come try this place Blazers. It's been around for a long time. It has a small town fast food place vibe where lots of families come and enjoy their food and ambiance. You get a huge selection in their menu. You can get Mexican, burgers, wraps, sandwiches and salads. They are open Monday -Saturday 10:30 till 9 pm. The uniqueness of this place is that it serves both Coke and Pepsi. There are two different prices on the menu for the items. Regular menu price and pay with cash discount. My husband and I came and we had a chicken strip basket with crinkle fries and a blazer hamburger. The chicken tenders were too bready for my taste. The honey mustard was very good. My husband liked his burger. I felt like everything just tasted as if it was frozen and then served hot. The service was very nice. The girls were hospitable and attentive. This place was so fun to eat at! A happy mix between sit down and fast food! Quality of sit down with the speed of fast food. I had a custom hickory burger to aid my dairy allergy and boy oh boy it didn't disappoint! Sides are sold separate. I got waffle fries which were cooked to perfect golden crunchy brown! It was about $26 (before tip) for both my husband and I. Super reasonably priced. The inside is cute and it was so busy, everyone needed their burger!! They did have TV on with football to enjoy. I've always loved little out-of-the-way restaurants that are heavily frequented by locals. If you aren't from the Gardner area, you may not know of Blazers, and I wouldn't have discovered it myself if not for a winding country road motorcycle jaunt that took me down the street past Blazers in view of their heavily populated parking lot. This place is a hidden gem and a fun place to visit. When I'm in San Antonio visiting a new Mexican restaurant, I always order the Cheese enchiladas first in order to gauge them against their nearby competition. In the KC area, if it's a BBQ joint, I order the ribs. At a burger and fries spot like Blazers, I go for the Pork Tenderloin. Blazers pork tenderloin is thicker than most in the KC area with very thin breading. It's quite large and juicy, sticking out about an inch all the way around the edges of my bun - but not "ship's wheel size" like some places which is probably due to the fact it isn't pounded thin. The PT is served with mayo, lettuce, pickles and onions. I thought I was only going to eat half of this large sandwich but I enjoyed it so much I almost finished it, which is rare for me with a sandwich this large. The crinkle cut fries I ordered were good, but I wish they were fresh cut fries. If you prefer, several additional types of fries area available such as curly fries, seasoned fries, waffle fries, skinny fries, sweet potato fries, and tator tots. Potato salad, macaroni salad, and baked beans are available too. The menu also includes patty melts, mushroom swis burgers and sometimes they serve bbq from a smoker in the parking lot. Pulled pork sandwiches were posted as the "Special" on my first visit there. My wife says I should mention they sell a couple different salads, AND they have ice cream, shakes and malts. I had a cherry malt and my wife had a butterscotch malt. My cherry malt was the perfect consistency to be thick but still drink through a straw. Sometimes when I order a malt I wonder if they are just serving me a shake, but I could actually taste the malt - it was great. On the North end of the restaurant is a comfortable patio to use when the weather is nice. And if you have kids, there is a very nice park, and a super cool water-park just across the street. I'm guessing when the weather is hot, Blazers probably gets overloaded with swimmers dropping by to get ice cream after a hot day in the sun. The bathrooms leave much to be desired. The men's room isn't any bigger than a small closet - I have no idea how a large man would ever fit between the open door and the sink to get into the room. If the bathrooms were a little bigger and the fries were fresh cut, I'd give this place a 5. As it is, I'm calling them a 4.4 which I'll round down to a 4. But let me be clear, I liked this place a lot, and I'm definitely steering my motorcycle rides back by here again in the future. read more

We have yet to actually eat AT the restaurant, but the food is pretty damned good! I'm doing a project nearby, which puts me in the area for an extended period of time. This project requires that we not leave the worksite for the entire day, which means we send out for lunch. More often than not, the other folks I'm working with request Blazers for lunch. I was a bit skeptical at first, but I've been wrong before, and most likely will be wrong again in the future. When I opened up the foil holding my food, I was blown away at the size of the meal, and how many fries were accompanying the meal itself. As most of us know, size isn't the only factor in quality, because the burgers and sandwiches that were ordered were very good; Even after being delivered about ten minutes away from the restaurant itself. The burger had a nice char, and all the toppings were fresh. The fries were still hot and not rubbery after making their final quest to our location. All these thing contributed to an overall excellent dining experience. Hopefully, at some point I can head over to the restaurant and get it freshER and hottER. read more
