I wanted to wait until I got my nails done at leastt twice here before I wrote a review... and as of yesterday it's official. And let me tell you I am SO incredibly impressed! I'm honestly quite shocked by the low rating. I'm new to dip nails, for the last 6 years or so I've gotten either acrylic or gel every two weeks. However, I am now officially a changed woman. The dip makes my nails incredibly strong; when I used to get Gel my nails would constantly break but the color would stay on, and when I'd get acrylic my nails would be strong but the color would start fading quickly. Dip is the best of both worlds! :) The man who does my nails here is so detail oriented, I trust him completely. I like that I don't have to be constantly, nervously watching what he's doing like I have to do in other salons. I actually just sit back, zone out, and watch the TV. It's a beautiful thing. The salon itself is super tiny, there are not usually many people in there (which I actually love). Getting my nails done in the Loop is such a headache for me, there are some TERRIBLE salons here. However, I'm confident to say this will be my new go-to Loop salon! Bravo Bleu. read more

Came here for Gel mani replacement and Pedi. Girl from Starbucks by my hotel recommended them. Was easy walk from Kimpton Allegro. They did excellent job on toes and hands. Price was same as SF, 35 gel- 25 pedi but they charged me an extra five for alternating colors on the hand- I usually tip more for this so not that big of a deal. They had Mood polish that changes in cold water- didn't get but forgot I still want to try. Massage chairs and a tv made for a chill vibe. read more

I came in with some pretty messed up nails and the lady at Sunrise was very detailed in fixing them. My previous no-chip from another salon in Colorado (vacation) was the worst ever. He did a lazy job cleaning up my cuticles, painted worse than I could do with my non-dominate hand and the nail polish chipped within days. Frustrated after a couple weeks of trying to make the nail polish botch job last I ended up peeling it off, pulling some of the top layer of my nail bed. I was gently scolded by a couple girls at Sun Rise to not to do that again. Oops, my bad. Nope. Nope. Nope. First, it's your classic hole in the wall. Nonetheless, I went in because I have on occasion found talented gems in these kinds of spots. Anyway, hole in wall. It's pretty tiny and can only accommodate about 4 pedicures and 4 manicures at any one time. The Polish. They have an average sized holding. The issue is they're poor quality polishes. I mean...I saw a few bottles of OPI in the mix but OPI isn't the apex of polishes. Anyway, the Polish I picked out was watered down and so she piled on about 5 coats of it as a result (you could see straight through the coats). When she was done it was one thick, clumpy mess. Of course I had her redo it. It was honestly that bad. The girl who did my manicure had a bad 'tude. I think she was in her feelings about me having directed the pedicure tech to redo the paint. Anyway, she was stank. I asked for a clean towel to lay across the sea because it had stains on it. My guess is those stains came from some persons lap, down under. She was like "is something wrong wi th the chair?" I just said yes, covered the seat and sat down. She was tight. I'm not sure why she was taking it so personal - you'd think it was her personal chair and s he was letting me use it. Anyway, my nails came out better than my toes. Other than that, it was a little nippy in there. The heat they had blasting was an absolute joke. The only good thing was it was empty and I had the shop to myself pretty much. Obviously there was a reason why she didn't want the open guy. Had to ask the guy who did my nails to use remover AGAIN on the outside of nails because he got polish all over. I've been coming to this salon for almost a year and can honestly say my service has been awesome every time. May and her mom take good care of my nails, feet and my eyebrows. The location may be small but they get the job done never leaving clients waiting. The location is comfortable with nice relaxing chairs and they have a bathroom located upstairs that you can use if necessary. If your in need of a nice mani and pedi and your in the downtown are this is the place to go. I love to have a matched no chip mani and pedi and they always have the color. I always leave a tip because its well deserved. As long as I'm living in Chicago this will be my go to place to go for service. The hours of service are convenient for those who are in the downtown area. I enjoy all my service and disagree with any negative comment that has been left. I found this place on google because it's right by where I work. It's a very small place but they do an amazing job!! I went a few weeks ago for dip and it looked amazing. I just went back and I am going to continue to go for a dip manicure every three weeks. There's never a super long wait and they have a variety of colors for dip! I would 100% recommend Bleu Nails & Spa, especially if you're looking for a good dip manicure! I included pictures of my manicures! After half an hour of pain from the gouging and clipping of actual skin (not nails) that should have been left alone--and after I had stoically put up with a particularly unpleasant attack on my right toe, and then lost it during a parallel attack on my left ("For Christ's sake, will you BE CAREFUL?"), I was moved to Google "nail salons danger" while waiting to pay my bill. Nothing bad was implied about this one, and they seem to have an excellent reputation from what I can glean from Yelp. But I did learn from the articles online that your cuticles are there for a reason and should not be messed with, and that these environments come with a whole lot of hazards I was unaware of. I will never enter one again except for a polish change. The tech working me over was a perfectionist and did a great job aesthetically, but my foot still hurts, and I hope to God that all the physically irritating stuff she immersed it in had serious antiseptic properties. I took the precaution of crossing the street to CVS and buying antibiotic ointment afterward and slathering it on, just in case. read more

Every time I go into Sunrise after work during the week, I am always assisted within 5 mins. I usually get a no chip manicure. The no chips usually don't chip and they have a great selection of gel colors. Staff is always welcoming and gentle. Would recommend!! read more

Went here two weeks ago for an ok acrylic fill. They started coming off after a week. But I couldn't make it back because of the holiday and other commitments. When I finally got back today, I got yelled at asking "Why you wait so long? Your nails bad!" I said "I was in two weeks ago" I was met with them talking to each other in a language I couldn't understand. Then was told "Not two weeks. I don't remember you" I said "well you can see my credit card statement" then they kept talking to each other. Finally I said "you can stop talking about me behind my back" to which they all laughed and kept talking. I grabbed my things and walked out. If she thought it was such a terrible job, it was there that I got it done. I will never be going back to this place. There are too many much better nail salons around to be treated this way, and get crappy product and crappy service. If you are wondering if you should go to the salon. The answer is NO!!! read more

Hands down, worst mani/pedi i've ever gotten. I only gave it 2 starts b/c fortunately it was only $35, but I won't spend another cent there. It's filthy - there was a wet, dirty towel on the floor by my pedi chair that they wouldn't pick up. The tools might have been "sanitized" but I saw the sanitizer thing and it was packed with baskets stacked on top of each other in a very small space with the tools in it, so there's no way anything was actually getting sanitized. The woman barely slapped some lotion on me and did a quick rub, where most nail places do at least a semi-decent massage. I've also never had such a bad filing job - she basically scraped the nail file across my nails a couple times and figured she did a good enough job. Not worth even the lower cost, and the Health and Safety Administration should probably pay this place a visit. read more

A coworker and I booked a Thursday lunch hour reservation for gel manicures (they have a ton of of colors to choose from). The $30 price tag - in the Loop - can't be beat! We made it there just in time and our two manicurists were ready and waiting. To my surprise they took their time and did an awesome job! I was in and out in 30 minutes. I had searched yelp endlessly for a reasonably priced nail salon where I could get a no-chip mani and regular pedi that wouldn't break the bank. I made a 1:15 appointment one day during work at Sunrise. The place is clean, staff is friendly, and I was in and out in an hour. Their no chip is $30 which is the cheapest I've found without using a groupon. $55 in total for both the no-chip mani plus pedi. However, my no-chip mani lasted exactly 1.5 weeks, which is about half the time that all of my previous no-chips have lasted. The polish on both of my index fingers started peeling off, and it's not like I did anything outrageous to my hands during this period. When I spend $30+, I would like to enjoy it a little longer than a week and a few days. I was hopeful to make this place a more frequent addition to my work lunchtime activities, but I'm not sure I'll be back. read more

Horrible work. Yes the nails look fine but the integrity of the nails is totally damaged underneath. After soaking in acetone the nails are scraped with a metal tool that looks like a blackhead remover. It's not done gently. You're better off peeling the polish off because this action is even more damaging. Once that's done they file your nails with a huge heavy sandpaper grade file. They saw the nail tips with this file rather than using a glass file with a motion of going just one way. Your nails will not only crack but the no chip will begin to peel within 7 days. No regard for nail health whatsoever! read more

Pricing can be complicated here, however I really received excellent treatment by a lady named Thao. She seemed new, however I was impressed by the way she did my pedi and mani. My main issue with techs is sometimes they are in such a hurry that they do half of what you expected to be done. And In terms of style it's not on point unless you get the same person you have been going to for a while. She actually did the design and length perfectly for me. Hope new management sees employees like her as an advantage to what customers look for in a good nail shop. read more

This place was one of the grossest nail salons I have ever been in... I went in November 5th to get a no chip manicure. None of the nail equipment looked clean. The nail buffer used on my nails was stained and old. The technician doing the manicure was not wearing shoes....In addition, she also answered multiple personal calls during her service which included a lot of screaming. In the middle of painting my nails she got up and a different technician took over. His pants were un-buttoned.... Not to mention, he kept making inappropriate comments and asking an obscene about of questions about my jewelry. The actual manicure was just as bad as the experience...The nail shapes don't match, there is nail polish all over my hands and my nail beds, and all of my cuticles are sticking up. I have been going to Sunrise for almost a year. I get a standard manicure every one to two weeks on my lunch hour. They are always respectful of my time, since I am on lunch, yet they do not rush. Only once did I have an issue with the way may nails were being done with a new employee. As soon as I spoke up, May (the owner) and her mom stepped in and took care of me personally, and accommodated me in my payment. My manicure always last a minimum of a week, sometimes two. Which is unheard of with a standard manicure. Appointments are not necessary, but I always make one, then I do not have to wait if there are walk-ins waiting. They are reasonably priced and they have comfortable pedicure chairs as well. read more

This is not a the best or second best nail salon I have been in chicago. However, the price is nice (35$ for hands and feets) you sit in a massage chair. It's not noisy, you don't wait or hear workers gossiping in a high tone (God I hate that). Also when I was about to finish and leave she insisted I stay so it completely dries out (although it was past closing time, and she was basically waiting for me) she helped me gather my stuff, and even offered to pull the skinny jeans that was stuck at my ankles without me asking. This is the only place I will get my nails done! I bit my nails my entire life until last year. I also have naturally sweaty hands, so I'm usually too embarassed to get my nails done (they get extremely bad sometimes). I started getting acrylics done with May at Sunrise Nail Salon last summer; I had them for five months and somehow they never really damaged my nails. I now go to this salon every two weeks for a no chip manicure. I was initially afraid of getting no chip because of the heat required to dry the polish (and how it would likely make my hands sweat). May makes the whole process SO comfortable for me though. If my hands start to sweat, she doesn't say a word and just turns on the fan for me. She's also the sweetest person in the world and I geniunely enjoy going to my appointments every other week. The other staff members are great too (I've had a pedicure with one of them, and another did half my manicure once). I could not recommend Sunrise nails more! If I need to get my nails done on a weekend, I come all the way to the loop from Lincoln Park just to go to this salon. read more

Although this nail saloon is quite small compared to other saloons in the area, I think the services are fairly priced for Chicago and I have always had great service and nice nails. On one occasion I had completely messed up my toes from putting on shoes after a pedicure and came back the next day for them to fix and they redid them all (mostly because we couldn't find the exact color we used) - for free. I have been going here for the last 3-4 months and usually get a no chip manicure every 2 weeks, and a pedicure even month or two. The mani is $30 and I leave a $10 tip every time, and a no chip mani/pedi is $70 (I leave $20 tip). The owner is nice enough but the first time I went, she went on and on about how some customers are bizarre, others try to "cheat" their way out of paying (as in, a color change every 1-2 weeks instead of a new manicure) and how she closed a little early once even though a customer was inquiring about a quick mani about 45 minutes before closing time, because she had to be some place. I just figured it's hard to be in the service industry and chalked it up to mindless chatting. She took her time and did a great job. Then the problems started. This place is good until it gets busy, and that's when the quality of the service really suffers. It's a small place (it doesn't even have a bathroom) and I get that it's expensive to pay rent downtown but isn't that why you should make sure to do a good job on your regular customers? I continued to go back because I live close to this place, but today, one of my thumb no chip mani looked a little rough at the edges near my cuticle so I politely asked if they could quickly fix it. The lady who was finishing up my pedi became upset because she thought I was picking at it and that's why it looked bad (not true), and started complaining about me loudly in Vietnamese in front of me and 4 other guests (in a very small space), then proceeded to passive aggressively finish my pedi. The owner tried to fix my thumb and did a really crappy job. I told her quietly that her employee was really rude. She tried to give me an excuse then apologized. I paid for my services and gave the same amount of tip I always go, but will not be returning here. It's one thing to be in a hurry and at times do less than a stellar job, but to complain loudly and be rude while embarrassing your customer at the same time? No thank you. read more

Decided to give this place a try since it's half block from my place and I desperately needed a pedicure. The place itself is very small and not very aesthetically pleasing, but it didn't bother me. The staff is nice, and did a good job. The price for a no chip manicure and regular pedicure is about $10 cheaper than other nails salons in the loop. I walked in at 6:15, and waited about 5 minutes. I often feel rushed in the loop nail salons, but here they took their time and made me feel comfortable. If you want a good mani/padi and don't necessarily care about the aesthetics of the place, then I definitely recommend this place. read more

I get pink and white and most places I have been to in the city either don't do it or try to talk me out of it. May told me that she could do it and I was in about out within an hour. Worst manicure I have ever gotten. A kid would have done a better job. The lady first cut one of my nails so short she made me scream and almost made me bleed. All my nails were filed unevenly and the paint was the worst. One of the other ladies realized how unhappy I was so she took my nail polish off and did it again. But no apology or anything, on the contrary, they were rushing and made me feel like it was my fault, complaining in their language. Stay away from this place. read more
