I had been looking for the perfect pre-owned X5 for weeks online, doing homework on each of the car dealerships. Every search rendered horrible dealer reviews & I was getting discouraged. I finally came across Blizzard Motors from an Auto Trader listing last month, and looked over those reviews. With the exception of a single bad evaluation (a very poorly articulated one at that), all were glowing & many were repeat customers. The photos of the X5 on the Blizzard website made it look too good to be true... I was skeptical, but sent the guy an email inquiry. He responded very promptly and insisted I call when I had a chance - even if it were 9pm. Once I spoke with Doug on the phone, he went over the car with a fine-tooth comb, and was completely honest about the very few cosmetic flaws on the car up-front (most of which he happily fixed for me). Two days later, I made the 200 mile trek west to look at the car & was instantly sold. Not only is Doug's persona the opposite of your typical car salesman, he genuinely wants you to be happy & sell you another car down the road. He's not looking for a quick sale on a lemon, he wants a contented, loyal customer base. Doug allowed us to test-drive the car without him for "as long as we wanted", and once back, I signed in less than 10 minutes. We spent more time prattling & laughing than on actual business. A few days later the car purchase, my fiancé & I were driving home rather late at night, about 30 miles from home, and the brake light came on. I told Doug of this, as well as a finicky seatbelt sensor; he said to take it to a shop & he'd take care of it. Despite the great sales service, part of me was doubting that he'd actually follow through on this, but he spoke with my local BMW dealer the following business day & he had indeed kept his word. So rather than my opinion let me share some actual facts and let the reader form their your own opinion. Obviously I bought a car from Doug. It was like 12 years old, 58,000 miles. Multiple people literally did not believe me that it was not a new car I had just gotten from the dealership (it's a BMW M so the design is a few years ahead of the rest of the pack and it was literally like-new.) There was one issue, the horn didn't work. Doug replaced the relay panel for that (the part alone for that is like $400 I'm pretty sure) and then had the car reprogrammed (retail maybe $800) immediately and gave me my choice of loaner cars from his lot. A couple of small things that you only notice in the first week of owning a car had needed to be replaced, small stuff and easy to do so I just did it. Doug insisted on reimbursing me for the cost... Like $100 or something. I wanted a second key. Doug ordered one from BMW, had it programmed and it worked --all except the part where you can open the car by just touching the handle if you had the new key on you. Not good enough. He re-sent the car to BMW and got it fixed. This is not a BMW warranty item, it's a BMW pay-cash item and so another... $1k-ish reprogramming job this time maybe. IDK, I never saw the bill. And he dealt with those morons at BMW Portland, not me, and you can place almost no value on that..! So that was my experience buying a vehicle from Doug and the after-purchase service I received. Cut to months of problem free driving later, and Doug's help continues: After a drive through the mountains to California at high speeds, the front bushings started to squeak a bit. Cost estimate for 4 new control arms they say I need: $3.2k. I drove home and went to Doug's recommended mechanic. I paid a total (discounted) bill of $760 to replace the 2 control arms the car actually needed. So now you know. Not my fault if you buy a car somewhere else.. read more

I had been looking at them all across the country and found the perfect one for me at Blizzard Motors. I called out of the blue and Doug Blizzard answered all my questions about the car. Its history and what he was doing prepping the car before it was sold. It sounded perfect the only problem was I live 1000 miles away. Doug had assured me about the condition of the car, yeah right just another salesman giving me the pitch. I could not of been more wrong! Doug face-timed me going over every little detail on the car. The car was what I wanted but getting to Portland during these crazy times was proving to be another issue. He stated that if I indeed wanted it he would hold it for me until I could get there with out even putting a deposit down. Really no dealer does that. I spend the next few days looking at various airlines and Doug even offers to pick me up at the airport but the flights were all two weeks plus out but darn it I want this car. Two days later on a Friday evening Doug calls me and asks if I would like to have the car tomorrow afternoon delivered to me in N.C. Montana. What? me buy a car sight unseen no way. I was assured that if I was not happy he would buy it back. Well nothing ventured nothing gained. Doug sent me the car with the title before he even received my check. The car arrived the next day and it was flawless. I could not be happier. Dougs integrity and honesty is absolutely impeccable. I've always been weary of buying a used car. This is mostly because, like everyone, I have heard every negative stereotype in the book about used car salesmen: sleazy, misleading and full of lies. I love cars, and one of the things that lets me down about most car buying experiences is that the salesperson either loves cars LESS than I do, or knows less about the cars they are selling than I do. Doug Blizzard LOVES cars, he also knows A LOT about them. From what he told me, he doesn't have a car on his lot that he hasn't personally driven and given a detailed once over. That alone would be enough to make me want to buy a vehicle from Blizzard Motors, but with Doug, the best is yet to come. Doug also cares about his customers, their purchase experience, and their ownership experience. Doug will take the time to answer any and all questions about each and every car. I am fairly "detailed" when it comes to purchasing a car, and Doug let me go over the vehicle with a fine tooth comb. He knew it was important to me that I felt great about the car I was going to buy, and he let me take the time necessary to so that I felt comfortable with it. One of the great things about working with Doug is that you don't have to deal with any of the "let me go check with my manager" BS that you get at other dealerships. I live in Vancouver and spent several months trying to find a replacement for my aging Suburban, narrowing down selections on the web. Arriving at closing time after a frustrating Saturday of visiting other dealers, I was greeted by Ray who genuinely wanted to know what I wanted in a vehicle. After some discussion and looking over his suggested solution, we parted ways with him giving me his personal cell number. Returning the following week he arranged for me to take my choice back to Vancouver for an inspection by my mechanic who noticed a code suggesting some service attention which he immediately agreed to address. At the time of the sale I got to meet Doug and was really impressed with his obvious desire to make sure I was completely satisfied with my experience with Blizzard. Meanwhile, Ray handled both the maintenance and WA Emissions testing for me. The two worked to get me the best financing for the rig, and I went home happy. After driving the vehicle a little over five thousand miles it developed an expensive transmission problem. Doug is not a salesman, he is a true people person. He takes the time to understand your situation and wants to fit the car of your dreams into a workable situation. He treats his customers as family and wants the best for them. His sole goal is not to make a profit, but to make the customer happy. Doug spent an entire day trying to set up a deal that would work for me even though he would take a loss, YES LOSS, just to make me a believer and customer of his. The first car we purchased from Doug at Blizzard Motors was a BMW 540i. What a great car to own. About a month after we purchased the car we had a problem while my whife was driving for a business trip. The water pump had failed. It failed halfway to Seattle from PDX. Doug for the first time in a couple months, decided to take the day off. All this complicated as I was in Dallas TX at the time. To make a long story short, the wife called me, I called Doug. Doug went up to retrieve the car and my wife. Gave us a loaner car and fixed the water pump on our car. Thanks-Doug! The second car was a seven series that he took back the fives series for more than fair trade. He never hesitated to fix the long list of "stupid little plastic crap" when I asked. What can I can I say we wanted the car to be perfect, and that was not a problem. Oh yeah, he had the control arms and instrument cluster replaced before he even showed it to me. We enjoyed the seven series for quite a while. Our third purchase was the easiest. We call Doug and tell him what we want. He calls us when the PERFECT car that we are looking for is available. Highly recommended. My wife and I were recently looking at upgrading our car to something larger. After scouring the internet we came across one that fit our needs at Blizzard Motors. With some hesitancy after hearing horror stories from friends about dealing with other used car dealers we went to check it out. We went in with more of a "just looking" thought as this was the first car we really looked at in our search. From the start Ray was very friendly and the complete opposite of the stereotypical pushy salesman. We decided we wanted to purchase the car but really wanted to have our mechanic in Tualatin check it out first. They had zero hesitancy to this request and even encouraged us to do so. While stressing over the logistics of how we were going to have it looked at the next day with my wife having to work and needing the car we were going to trade in Ray said "just take both home with you". No down payment. No collateral. Nothing. Just let us take the new car home with us overnight along with the car we were going to trade in! Had it checked out the next day and drove both vehicles back to make the puchase/trade in our old car. I recently bought the sixth car that I have purchased from Blizzard Motors, the first in 1997. The last car I bought from Doug, a 2003 Mercedes CLK320, I drove for 143,272 very problem-free miles, and traded it in to Doug on a 2005 SLK350. The SLK had what was first thought to be a minor "computer glitch" in the transmission causing it to not shift properly at times. Doug assured me that he would have it repaired and all would be fine, so I purchased the car. The minor "glitch" turned out to be more than minor.... It required a costly part installed by a trained technician. Doug kept his word, made all arrangements with an expert, well trained, (and very courteous) technician and covered the full repair bill. One way to define "Integrity" is doing what is right and keeping your word when it might be difficult or costly because it is the "right" way to be. One reason, of many, that I have made my car purchases from Blizzard Motors SIX times over 20 years is that Doug Blizzard is a man of exceptional character and his actions have described his level of character to me yet again. Just bought a car from Blizzard Motors. I've bought many cars in my time and none were as easy or more enjoyable as working with Doug. He had already been closed for an hour, but was moving cars around. I saw three similar vehicles online at 3 different dealerships and stopped at Blizzard Motors first. Doug greeted me and my wife and when I told him about one of the other vehicles, he was familiar with it and encouraged us to look at it first as he felt it was nearly as nice as the vehicle he had on his lot. I told him he was our first stop and so he said the vehicle was open and let us take our time checking it out while he did other things. I asked to take it for a test ride and he handed us the key and said to take our time, he wasn't going anywhere. It was the most pleasurable non-pressure experience I've ever had buying a car and I've owned many cars over my life. I loved the vehicle and we bought it right away. Doug is so low key and enjoyable to talk to. He is definitely service orientated, which we are sorely missing today. I retired and the Midlife Crisis hit me and I decided to fix it with a Red Corvette. I looked in my home state of Kalifornia but wasn't able to find the perfect ride until I came across Doug's Craigslist ad. I called and was impressed with Doug's demeanor and apparent honesty. He told me about the car including what was wrong with it and sent more pictures. We quickly agreed on price with new brakes and a new climate control unit with delivery to Bend. Buying the car was a breeze, they made themselves available for my busy schedule and walked me through the buying + loan process. Six months after my purchase, they were extremely helpful and attentive when an electrical issue arose on my 2005 BMW. After I contacted them, Doug jumped right into action, called me, and worked with me to resolve the issues until everything was 100%. This was my first buying experience at a pre-owned dealership, and I have to admit, I was impressed! The transaction was quick and easy. No pressure. I saw what I wanted on-line, and exchanged several emails with Doug (the owner). His fast response and knowledge of the vehicle's history was the first indication that I had found the right dealer. In our correspondence he answered ALL of my (many) questions and even surprised me with his fun sense of humor & quick wit. Shout out to Doug! I can't say enough about how fast and easy the process to buy a car through Blizzard Motors was!! Doug (the owner) was a one man band but that didn't stop him from scheduling an appointment for us to test drive the Mustang we've been eye balling. I initially saw the car on CarGurus and requested information and within a few hours got a call back from Doug who was more than willing to schedule me an appointment. This was a big difference from the other car dealerships I had contacted through CarGurus. I'm still waiting on a call back from Lot99llc which definitely should work on their customer service and I don't recommend. I do however highly recommend Doug at Blizzard Motors who was so kind, personable, friendly and all around a great businessman to do business with! The car itself was in great shape..low miles, no scratches and had some favorable modifications that my husband loves!! It was one of the best deals we could find locally. An excellent experience! When purchasing a vehicle when you are several hundred miles away means you have to be assured that the vehicle is as described. I spoke to Doug and he told me all about the Jaguar I had seen advertised, even pointing out some minor service items that were currently scheduled for attention. Doug arranged to "show" me the car via hi-resolution Skype. "We" walked around the car and looked at everything, this is an excellent way to inspect a vehicle from afar and gave me the additional confidence to travel close to 1,000 miles to look at the car. My wife and I rented a car and drove to Portland. True to his word, Doug had made sure that all discussed items were attended to, and the car was just as described. Doug was extremely accommodating, there was no high-pressure sales stuff. After an inspection and test drive we purchased the vehicle. Where do I even begin? Doug has loyal and repeat customers for a reason. He has the reputation for superb customer service. He treats you with respect and he's fair. He's not the "typical used car salesman." This guy is good to you. Our car buying experience with him has been excellent (we've bought twice from him), and in this industry, it goes a long way. Saw a BMW 5 series 6-speed with very low miles on the Blizzard Motors web site while searching through Auto Trader and was immediately impressed because it looked almost brand new and was very reasonably priced. Called and got right through to Doug. I'm from a long way out of state (Kansas), so it was sort of a leap of faith to be talking about buying an auto so far away with only an internet picture and description. However, Doug made the whole process quite easy and reassuring. He went a long way to allay my concerns, even readily agreeing to an independent inspection with a local near-by specialist BMW mechanic. When a few relatively minor problems were found (battery,etc.), he immediately had them taken care of at his expense. We quickly reached a fair deal and I am very pleased with my purchase. Got it home, and took it to my independent mechanic who confirmed it was in excellent condition.
