I literally feel robbed shopping here. Dylan and Billy are professional scam artists. They might seem nice with their "Bro energy" but do not be fooled by these Monkeys. I traded in a car they were going to give me "27k for" which they then sold that same car for 44,000 The trade in was for a car that was 100k and I was going to finance the rest (w/ basically 27k down) When I looked at the amount financed it said I owe 96,000 I also put an additional 2,000 to have the car taken off their site... The only extra thing I had them add was the ceramic coating which I don't know if they really did it or not. So these guys gave me $4000 for a car that they sold for 44,000 I really regret doing business with them and I also lost 33,000 trading in my paid off low mile car. No issues with the car but I can't afford this car I was hoping to owe maybe at least 75-85k... These guys screwed me and I asked them if they would buy the car back but not even for 90,000 I've only driven it 500 miles. To add to that I have already made 2 payments of $1416 and I STILL Owe 95,000 They do not care about giving you a good deal; I might as well have saved to buy the car if I was going to pay Sticker price. Never trade a car in to shady people at a Dealer. Again I feel robbed shopping here. AVOID THIS PLACE! Terrible communication. The sales team had no problem calling and texting while they were trying to sell me a car. The moment the paperwork was signed, the communication completely disappeared. Their "We Owe" process is an absolute joke. I've been waiting weeks just to get the promised repairs scheduled. I've called multiple times, left messages, and every single time I get the same scripted response: "They'll reach out." Three different employees have told me exactly that, and not once has anyone followed through. Service Department? Comical Jered at the Portland location has repeatedly failed to return calls or messages after saying he would. If you're going to tell a customer you'll call them back, then do it. It's that simple. I own a business myself, and I know customer service doesn't end when the payment clears. It starts there. Keeping your word and communicating with customers isn't optional it's the bare minimum. The ironic part is I actually like the car I bought. My problem isn't the vehicle. It's the people running this dealership and the complete lack of accountability after the sale. Update: 5/15/26 Now I gotta take them to court and file complaints with the consumer agencies. The are not trust worthy. Poor communicators and don't follow through. We canceled the warranty on a vehicle 4/6/26 in writing sent to the email address they provided us with. Well they've been giving us the run around. Called the warranty company they said they aren't even the ones that refund the money. The dealership is and the dealership never actually contacted them to cancel our contract. I purchased a Land Rover Defender from Diplomat Motors (DP). The staff was friendly for the most part, and the facility itself is beautiful and gives a strong first impression. Unfortunately, the experience with the vehicle has been extremely disappointing. Shortly after purchase, the check engine light came on. DP did address this by replacing a sensor at no cost, which I appreciated. However, the issues didn't stop there. The vehicle continued to shake when braking, which led me to have it independently inspected, something I now wish I had done before purchasing. That inspection revealed multiple leaks and additional concerns that should have been identified during routine maintenance. Given that DP provided maintenance records and also worked on the vehicle (including the O2 sensor repair), it's concerning that these issues were either missed or not disclosed. These are not minor problems, they are things a thorough inspection should have caught. To make matters worse, I purchased a $5,000 warranty, yet the car has already been in the shop three times, costing me over $1,600 out of pocket for repairs that were not covered. Overall, while the customer service and presentation were solid, the condition of the vehicle and lack of transparency around its true mechanical state have made this a frustrating and costly experience. My experience with Diplomat Motors was extremely frustrating. Transportation was discussed in writing before the sale and was presented as part of the deal. I relied on those written communications when I agreed to move forward. After the deal was funded, the terms changed and I was pushed into paying much more out of pocket for shipping than what had been represented. The dealership also delayed payoff of my trade-in lien after taking possession of my vehicle, which forced me to make an extra payment to protect my credit. Communication was inconsistent throughout the process. Things that were acknowledged in writing earlier were later denied, and the explanation kept changing. The owner's handling of the situation made it worse. Instead of resolving it directly, I was accused of wrongdoing for disputing charges and told I owed additional money, despite the written record. I disputed the charges and won. If you deal with this dealership, make sure every promise is in writing and every dollar is clearly documented before signing. I would not return. read more

The main problem was my fault for not being more thorough in my inspection of the car I was buying. I was looking for a 7 seater and the one I drove home was a 5 seater. My car's Kelly Blue Book value is $26-28k, yet they offered far below that--even though the Model 3 I was looking at had 15,000 more miles than mine. The sales rep, Gavin, made the experience worse with comments like "I can lead a horse to water, but I can't explain to him when he's getting a good deal." He also bragged that their buyers "get paid the big bucks" to undervalue cars and said my vehicle would likely be wholesaled anyway. There's no reason a customer should be talked down to or disrespected. If a dealership won't honor market value and chooses to belittle customers instead, it's not a place worth doing business with. After doing my thorough due diligence, I decided to not purchase the 2013 Mercedes g550 from diplomat motors. "On paper" everything looked great, the carfax was pretty clean despite so many owners and some gaps in maintenance. I even hired a local mechanic, Danny's Mobile Mechanic LLC, to do the PPI. He charged $139 for an advanced PPi. This is when the red flags started. The dealership was totally open to a ppi, they even recommend it. The mechanic mentioned knowing the salesman Dmitry really well (which isn't a good sign, felt they would favor the dealership) I was very specific on what I wanted him to check. The mechanic focused on the flaws, like a screw in the tires, vandalism from someone keying the car & a couple of zip ties. When I would talk about mechanical, he would say everything was amazing and worked perfectly. He kept calling it a smart car & it would tell you any error. ( this car is 13 years old & that's not the case at all) He said he took it for a test drive and it's turns really sharp due to its advanced rack and pinion steering (g wagons don't have rack and pinion, they have recirculating ball steering and have a terrible turning radius. Back to Diplomat Motors, they are the usual high pressure sales, everyday they will text you before opening wanting to close the sale, they will try to close the sale before they even present the paperwork and just want you to blindly sign, they claim people are walking in wanting to buy the car but are somehow holding it for you when you live a few states away. I unfortunately got advanced in the process and even went through financing. There sell rate is super high even with exceptional credit. It's obvious they are getting bank rates in the mid-to-low 4% range and then selling them at 7-9%. It's obvious in the sales agreements that they want you in the longest term loan and will do that loan at 7%, and then the short term is at 9% because they will get more on the back end of the loan as it runs its term. When it came to the flaws on the g550 I wanted them fixed as part of the deal. They agreed to fix the keyed right side of the car. I went back to the Carfax report and found a service at a Mercedes dealer in California 1 month before. This made me wonder, why did the previous owner do a big service and then go ahead and trade the car in a week after the service? That's unusual behavior. I called the Mercedes dealer and asked for details of the last service. I gave them the vin and they emailed me all the service records that's when I quickly found out the problem. The previous owner brought the car in because the air conditioning wasn't working. They paid $630 to diagnose & the issue was found that the evaporator was leaking and the AC was not functional. The cost to repair was $7488. After the car was picked up from service, it was traded in the next week and went to auction, where Diplomat Motors then purchased the car, washed it & had it up for sale in a matter of days. Like many reviews before mine, problems arise after people drive the cars off the lot. Do I think Diplomat Motors knew about the ac problems? Maybe, maybe not. The reality is they are a used car dealer & they buy dozens and dozens of cars; they only make money when they get them out as fast as possible. They don't know these cars inside and out. It's up to the customer to truly do their due diligence & not trust what the dealer says, because as soon as the car leaves the lot, the customer is the only one responsible. For future customers, I would recommend hiring Lemon Squad and have them do the PPI. In my case, it was obvious that Danny's mobile mechanic did not have my best interest at heart. I even followed up with him and asked if he checked the ac and he just hemmed and hawed and claimed the compressor worked. I asked him if he physically turned it on and felt cold air, and he would not answer. I dodged a huge bullet this time. I wasted a lot of time and effort but at least I didn't but a truck that needed to go right into the shop after I left the dealership. read more

Hello I purchased a 2016 Land Rover from Diplomat motors in Portland Oregon on April 16th, 2025 it took several weeks for them to get the title to my bank and then a few more weeks they said they had it in their shop doing maintenance work on it then I finally received it delivered to me May 7th, 2025. They gave me a 30day warranty. The following day after I received the car a low coolant message came on the screen along with a check engine light. I called my mechanic they took about a week to get it in and then a few more weeks working on an estimate they said they couldn't find some parts so it was hard to get price for the estimate. Then they got me the estimate which I will provide a link to here as well but they came back with almost $7k in repairs needed for the coolant system to be replaced. And found items zip tied together which they provided photos of. I sent all this to the dealership and their response has been appalling today is the 29th day of the warranty and they are refusing to help pay for the repairs. Coolant leaks and oil leaks are not maintenance issues according to my mechanics shop. Sales manager Tarik quoted me $52,899 on a Tesla Model Y, which I reluctantly agreed to, even accepting their aggressive 5% NON-REFUNDABLE deposit terms. I asked salesperson Max to send everything in writing via email and provide Zelle info to send the deposit. I asked for it in writing because something already felt off. Instead of sending the email, Max called me back an hour later to say the price had jumped $600 because they found a comparable listing on CarMax for a higher price. Let that sink in: they agreed on a price, I accepted their terms, and then they went shopping for reasons to charge me more. I asked to speak with Tarik. I was told he was gone for the day and we'd "figure it out in the morning." The next morning Max called me to confirmed the new price was $53,500. I pushed back and asked to be transferred to Tarik, but was told he was too busy and would call me back. I called back myself after no one reached out. Tarik finally called to tell me the car had been magically sold. When the sales manager sets a price and they raise it after you've agreed, that's not a miscommunication. That's textbook bait and switch. I have everything recorded if anyone would like to hear. The cherry on top was when I mentioned their 2.6-star Yelp rating, they had the audacity to say "What car dealer doesn't have a bad rating?" LOL. To which I responded "the good ones". Unfortunately, they were unable to provide workable options without a co-signer and questioned my income without even asking for verification. Despite holding a no-limit Platinum Amex and substantial income ($15k a month), they also refused to let me test drive the vehicle. That alone showed a lack of professionalism and trust. I secured pre-approval elsewhere with no issues. Another dealership confirmed my income and offered flexible solutions. Didn't want to leave 1 star even. I just sold the used luxury car they sold me (less than a year ago) to Carmax for 1/3 of price I bought it for. I couldn't in good conscience sell it to a private party. Worst car I've ever owned. Everything went wrong and we were dumping thousands into it from day 1. Within 3 months of purchase we tried to get them to trade it out for something of equal value as a show of good business ethics. They offered a credit of half what I paid (no regard for the money we'd had to dump into it or the 3 tow truck trips we'd made) and asked me why they should give me full credit when it's a lemon. He shook my hand and proceeded to take four different phone calls as he walked me to the car I was interested in. Turned out to be the wrong car. We walked back to his desk, he threw me the keys and pointed across the street to the car. Later, the same sales representative over chat, wouldn't tell me what the total price of the car would be. He acknowledged there would be dealer "fees," but wouldn't tell me how much they were. (A similar review is posted by another on the Carfax website - beware of Salesperson, "Anders"). The experience suggested to me they are not selling cars, but rather dealer fees and credit and as I was offering cash, was not a valuable customer to them. There have been 29 complaints in the last 5 years, 41 in total, including; Contract packing, failure to disclose prior damage, False or misleading representation, False or misleading offers concerning extended service contracts, Failure to honor warranty or guaranty, Delivered used car that does not meet DEQ standards, and Failure to provide title. Stated not happy, might need to return & bringing to Dodge in the am. We did & they deemed the car was unsafe, needed major parts fixed, driveshaft, tie rods, engine, less than quart of oil, black & gritty. Towed it back to Dodge to have a complete inspection & found the same major issues. Towed home. Sent all documentation to Diplomat. The GM, Ilya is not taking responsibility of the misrepresentation of this fraudulent sale. He offered to extend the 24 hour & told us we need to pay $5400 and they'll take it back. We spoke to the 3rd owner, he brought car to Dodge 2 days after purchase, driveshaft & tie rods needed to be replaced. Told Diplomat &said car was good. He dealt with Ilya & returned the car. 3 months later, almost spent $5k now on a car sitting at house, undriveable. In my personal experience, the vehicle I purchased had several problems that weren't disclosed, and after taking it to a trusted mechanic, I was told that cheap aftermarket parts had been used where OEM parts should have been. Because of this, I ended up being stuck with a $2,100 repair bill to fix what I believe was their poor-quality work. I tried repeatedly to contact the dealership to see if they could fix the issue or offer any kind of remedy, but my calls and messages were ignored. I purchased a pre-owned BMW M5 from Diplomat Motors and had a mixed experience. I had a particular set of colors and features I was looking for and Diplomat happened to have the exact match I needed. As such this was the first time I've ever had a vehicle shipped to me and I wasn't present to inspect the car personally. Bottom Line I did get the car I expected and in good working order. Scuffs/Scratches were in line with my expectations for a car with this mileage so no major surprises there. The good: Working with the sales associate, for a remote purchase, they were responsive via text message and were willing to go back and forth to take a video and send it to me for any request I had. After agreeing to make the purchase, the car shipped very promptly. I am located in Connecticut, I paid in full on a Friday and the car arrived at my home on Thursday. The Bad: After working with the sales associate, who was fine, I got handed off to the sales manager Phil to make the purchase. I didn't haggle and offered the listed price, he pushed very hard on markups for GPS trackers I had no interest in which took a firm declaration from me to end that. The car also arrived with only 1 key. Frustrating, but I understand there's no expectation/guarantee when buying used that two keys will come with the car so shame on me for not asking specifically. It still would have been better had that been disclosed since this affects the value to me. The reason for the 2 star rating: Diplomat Motors did not have the title for the car they sold me. They had purchased the car from auction, and giving them the nicest interpretation here, I think this is business practices where they are just trying to move volume quickly. They sold me the car assuming the title was coming, however that stalled between them and the auction house and after purchasing a car on August 26th I still wasn't able to register it until October 20th. The communication was absolute crap about this. After they received payment for the car suddenly communicating was a much lower priority for Phil. I sent a polite query to say 'hey, you told me I'd have a title in 2 weeks and now the temporary tag you provided to have the car driveable is about to expire, it's a month later, and I still can't register it. Can we renew the tag?". That went without response. In the end I was sending multiple emails to Phil without responses, before his solution was go ask Connecticut for a temporary tag while I wait for the title. When I told him hey, Connecticut requires the title to issue a temp tag he went silent again. My last communication from him essentially said "sorry bro". I wasn't able to drive the car legally for 5 days after waiting for the title to arrive. Engages in criminally deceptive advertising, fraudulent misrepresentation of vehicle's condition, purposefully delays any resolution. Facts: On 9/19/2025 I purchased from out of state, a 2021 Toyota Sequoia Platinum for $53K, with a Carfax that stated, "no accidents", via Facetime, salesperson took me through any blemishes on the vehicle he could see but failed to point out mechanical damage to the vehicle. Vehicle was shipped to our location at our expense. My wife picked up the vehicle and immediately noticed that the back liftgate was making loud, abnormal sounds upon closing. On inspection, the actuator rod that lifts the liftgate was clearly bent, the locking mechanism was clearly damaged with excessive wear from rubbing, and as the liftgate closes and locks, it twists and distorts, leaving a gap over the top and left side of the liftgate. We immediately contacted Diplomat and talked to the salesperson you referred us to Ilya, who admitted, that their shop had done some work on the liftgate locking mechanism that wasn't working with the remote. Ilya offered $300, and I stated I wanted to bring it to a shop for a quote. The Bodyshop was able to demonstrate that the liftgate roof had been hammered on, the hinges had been hammered on, in what looks like an attempt to get the liftgate to close, bumper was full of Bondo and repainted. The estimated damage was $7500. They also noted that about 75% of the vehicle had been bonded and repainted. None of this was disclosed prior to sale. We took the vehicle to the carwash, and water leaks through the liftgate and into the cab. Ilya was given the estimate from the shop and commented that the estimate was "too high" and that they would fix it in their shop for cheaper, but since I was in Minnesota, there wasn't much he could do. He offered to take the vehicle back AT MY EXPENSE (About $1800 shipping). This would put me out about $4000 and no vehicle. I felt that since the damage occurred prior, and was never disclosed prior to sale, that he should be responsible for shipping costs back to him, but he refuses. He stated that repair for the vehicle was too high, that it didn't need a new bumper, and I agreed that we could repair it without a new bumper (Bodyshop felt it might fall apart due to the bonding upon re-installation) which would knock off about $2K off of the repair estimate. Illya offers $750 to go towards the $5,000+ fix for damage that occurred prior to sale. Does this seem fair? The vehicle has been sitting at the shop for 6+ weeks, and we have been unable to drive it. Illya delays getting back via text message, "doesn't get my email" at times, and has continued to delay the process of either taking the vehicle back at his expense, or fixing it. So far, we have filed complaints with the Oregon department of Justice, which Diplomat Motors has over a dozen complaints in the last two years which were similar (failure to disclose prior vehicle damage), filed a complaint with the MN department of justice, filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau (dozens of complaints to review), and contacted our lender. Diplomat continues to delay any fair resolution as our car sits at the shop. They are in violation of several consumer protection laws, including the Oregon Unlawful Trade Practices Act and common law misrepresentation and breach of contract under Oregon law. Because of the interstate nature of the transaction, we are considering complaints to the Federal Trade Commission for violation of the Unfair and Deceptive Trade Practices Act. would rate less if I could. these people are a nightmare, my vehicle needed multiple repairs that isn't even necessarily the problem here. I understand when you buy a used vehicle as is you're stuck. however, every time I received my vehicle back (I brought it back 3 or 4 times) something repaired or unrelated was damaged. This last time they didn't verify that my hood was latched after doing work and it was stuck, it came up on me while I was on the interstate in the dark. I called, not really knowing what was going on and all I got was "what do you want me to do about it?" on top of that I have the messages to prove I told them not to leave my tuner plugged in but they did anyways and drained my batteries multiple times to the point when I got my truck back it struggled to turn on and I had to buy all new batteries. Due to their negligence. I informed them and didn't get a response, I was quite rude but that has to be understandable. I honestly wouldn't have even given them the opportunity to look at the batteries, they will never have my vehicle again. DO NOT BUY from them. Their shop doesn't have a clue what they're doing.
