Many years ago, I bought an almost-new 2005 Toyota Prius. That was the best car I've ever owned. Atomic Auto was a newer business back then, but they specialized in the Prius, and they took good care of my car. Eventually I sold the Prius (over 200k on the original battery, and going strong!). I bought a 2015 Chevrolet Volt, and got into the habit of having the Tonkin Chevrolet dealership maintain it (I recall I checked and Atomic Auto wasn't in a position to do work on it back then). But over the years, the dealership kept increasing their prices, and I just wasn't happy. So, I decided to go back to Atomic Auto. I'm glad I did. First off, I like how they have invested in simple technology/tools. They have a good system to text with you, so that you don't need to get on the phone. I love that. Their system includes photos, and detailed notes. Also, I like that they have an after-hours drop-off, *and* an after-hours pick-up. I also have found them to be honest in terms of the services. As my old Prius aged, I was getting an occasional error. They told me what was going on, and gave me a low-cost way to maintain it (spraying some mass airflow spray into the intake). It helped keep that guy on the road (heck, it's probably still driving today). Finally, I have found their services to be complete. I complained to the dealership about a super-obvious sound coming from my wheels when I turned, and the dealership said they couldn't re-create it (which seems sus, since it was super obvious and re-creatable). I didn't even mention it to Atomic, but they picked up on it during a test drive, and diagnosed it easily. I'm looking forward to keeping my Volt going for many years to come with the help of this crew. read more

Had main battery replaced several years ago in my 2010 Prius. That wiped out the OEM head unit. Replaced it with CarPlay (ick). Got new iPhone recently. Had to update firmware. This requires two working USB ports. Come to find out, the auxiliary USB(s) don't work. I'm hoping it's a fuse but I doubt it. The person who replaced the battery did not know what HE was doing. I took my car in for a scheduled appointment. I was told that they weren't sure they could see my car that day at 9 o'clock in the morning. I let them know that I needed my car and they assured me they would get to it at least by the next day. The next day was Thursday before the Fourth of July weekend. I received a call after 5 PM letting me know that my car would not be available till Monday. I called immediately and reached the answer phone. Let them know. I needed my car for the Fourth of July weekend. Never got a return call On Monday, they called me and told me to come pick up my car and they would not charge me the $250 fee. They were going to charge me to find out what was wrong with my car. I think they did fix the blinkers, but the entire experience was very cold and unprofessional That's all I have to say about that read more

I have genuinely appreciated the customer service and quality repair work Atomic Auto has done on my hybrid. I had to have the hybrid battery replaced a few months ago - which no hybrid owner wants to have to do - but it was done in a very reasonable amount of time and for less $$ than the original estimate. The staff communication has been great, and as someone who needs my car and can't afford a rental, being able to borrow one of their shop cars has been a big bonus. This place will continue to get my business and trust. (Also, it was great to go to an auto shop and see anti-racist and pro-human rights messages in the front office compared to my last place with MAGA merch displayed.) read more

Atomic Auto is still going above and beyond every time we bring one our cars in. Even though ours are older than most cars, they always find time to get us back on the road asap. Without them, we would have ended up needing to get new cars and spending way more somewhere else. Cale & Travis are my goto advisors for our two Prius hybrids. Started using them in 2018 when we got a 2009 Prius and a 2013 Prius C. Took me awhile to accept the lack of phone call response but now I prefer text, email or their web portal. I've used Atomic Auto for everything from securing the wing on my Prius to replacing a stolen catalytic converter to a rebuilt combination meter to the hybrid cooling system 3 way valve replacement and on and on. They will tell you straight up what they think and have saved me time & lots of money with their wealth of Toyota hybrid knowledge. First- there is something about guys listening to The Sundays when you walk into the garage. Atomic Auto took care of my 2000 CRV and advised me when it was time to upgrade (they were right) and I did - this time 2012 CRV. I believed there was an issue with my timing chain- I did a ton of research on the fix and the guys at Atomic Auto took it through the proper paces- meaning they tried the cheaper option first. They were timely with the repair and put air in the tire- turning off the final light on my dashboard- which has been the biggest relief. Check em out if you need help. read more

Their communication is stellar as is there transparency and honesty. As a young female, I have always been intimidated by auto shops, but I've never felt more comfortable that I have with these guys. I have a 1999 Saab 9-5 wagon that Travis and his crew have kept running over 210K miles! The pixels on the SID module display have been gradually disappearing over the years. When the panel got to the point of being unreadable they were able to find a used SID module in excellent condition and popped it in. They can fix anything, and we also take our 2012 Honda Pilot to them for regular service. read more

Living in Portland just over 2 months now and have already used their services twice. The first time was for a general repair of our 08 Prius. They were professional, affordable, and quick. Their online appointment and repair approval tool is really cool and very user friendly. They recommended we install a catalytic converter guard, but the price felt a little to high for the value of our high mile commuter. I should have taken their advice. I was back last week to have a catalytic converter and O2 sensor installed after waking to the sound of a reciprocating saw removing mine at 4 am. This time i listened and purchased the guard. As with the first time the price was reasonable, the service quick and the repairs perfect. Highly recommend. read more

Reached out yesterday b/c my starter died & I had to get it towed...they said they were slammed but to bring it ASAP & they'd squeeze me in. They had my starter replaced and ready to go in less than 24 hours. I love their online system of being able to view the mechanic notes, approving estimates, contactless payment, etc... all done from phone (or email), very seamless! I've been going to Atomic Auto for about TEN YEARS and the team here is EXCEPTIONAL. I wouldn't (and don't) go anywhere else. Sure, I've poked around a few other places to compare pricing and level/detail of work, but after reading reviews of other shops, I keep coming back. The team here have seen me with a few cars - the first time I came in via having my 1999 Concorde (This was in 2011 at their old location) towed as it blew a radiator on the freeway. I had literally just picked them because the reviews were so good and they were close to me (at the time of being stranded). The then saw me for regular servicing and keeping Old Betty (My Concorde) running until I was in a bad accident on the freeway. After that, they serviced my Dodge Magnum and after that, my Nissan Murano until the CVT went out, and now (for the past 15k miles of servicing) my Toyota Avalon Limited. I recently brought in my Avalon for a passenger side wheel bearing replacement as I heard the telltale "Lob-lob-lob" during acceleration...and since cars are now something I can't just fix in my driveway, I brought her in...and the team did FANTASTIC work in just a couple of hours. Take your car here. Don't go to a dealer, and don't go to another shop...work with Travis and the team at Atomic Auto. If, by some reason they CAN'T help you, they'll recommend another place, and that word is as good as gold. read more

There are few greater pleasures in life than finding a trustworthy, competent car repair shop whose employees treat me, a woman, like a competent adult. I brought my Honda Civic Hybrid in for regular service, and Cale was warm and welcoming, letting me know it would take around an hour (which it did). I waited in the lobby. When my car was ready, Cale took time to explain my car's issues (crappy transmission--Honda didn't do right by their hybrids in this department--but Cale told me it wasn't urgent), helped me prioritize services and repairs, and generally put me at ease. There was no pressure to get additional services (which happens at every other place I take my car). I just got the feeling that, instead of an up-sell, they do what is needed and they do it right in the first place. It was $25 more for an oil change/service than the Jiffy Lube type places where I've taken my car before, but their transparency and honesty made it more than worth it. read more

They are definitely worth the drive from far western Beaverton! I bought a 2002 Prius months ago for my 16 year old son to learn to drive in and as his first car (I like my SUV the way it is). I was confident it was a good purchase. I drove it around and never had a concern it might not be reliable. But a few days before he was to get his license, the worried mama bear came roaring out. In addition to a jacking my insurance policies up, I all of a sudden became paranoid something was going to go wrong with the car and my child would be stranded. (yeah yeah cell phones are a thing now I know but mama bear ok?) I called and talked to a super informative and nice fellow about my perfectly normal concerns. I scheduled for the next day. While the car was being serviced he answered my general questions about the car and hybrids. The service took just a bit less than he said it would. When all was said and done he shared some pics of the engine with me and assured me I would be sending this now over insured teen out with a solid car. Atomic Auto has quickly become my go-to shop. I really trust these guys and the work is excellent on my Toyota Sienna. Recently had a problem with a post-repair part failure due to mfgr defect. Not Atomic's fault, just the luck of the draw. But they made good on that repair re-do without batting an eyelash, and provided me a loaner car as well. The can-do attitude is really appreciated. This is normally a mechanic shop for hybrids but they had such good reviews I wanted to take my regular car. As a young woman I've had several negative experiences with mechanic shops, but no more! Atomic auto agreed to fix my regular car and did it in a timely manner. They were also incredibly communicative with fair prices while getting the job done.
