I've been coming here for over one year. I always have the same drink "Thai iced tea" it's not hard to recognize this drink slightly orange in color, tea is pre-made in a pitcher stored under the counter and mixed with milk. So this time when they handed me a mocha it was easy to see and taste the difference. So I told here wrong drink and she argued it might be hard to recognize my drink but it was definitely a Thai iced tea. No options. So I left. They kept my money and lost me for life. read more

Walked in around 10 am on Sunday, no line not crowded but liked the ambiance. Some fun drinks, my friend got a hot honey latte which was good, could taste hints of the hot honey. I got the jasmine tea macchiato, good jasmine flavor. The drinks definitely a bit on the pricier side but not bad. We got two things to eat as well. I got the sausage and cheddar bagel on a jalapeño cheddar bagel. It was very good and it matched the image they had of it on their display menu. Good amount of egg, sausage, cheese and chipotle mayo. I used to go to their location at the Spectrum, but's it's been a while since I've been down there. Surprised to find one so close to UCI. Staff is very friendly and efficient. The place is a good sized with some seating inside. The plaza also has plenty of outdoor seating. It's in a pretty big plaza with plenty of food/drink options. It can get pretty busy, but I've never had an issue trying to find parking. So I only get three things from them and it really depends on what I'm craving that day, Iced VTM, Iced VTMatcha, or Iced Uji Matcha Latte. They have plenty of customization options if that's your thing. All have excellent flavor and really depends on your preference. They VTM is very strong can can be pretty sweet, but that's really what you should be expecting. For the other two matcha options, I tend to do less sweet and less ice. Love the matcha flavor without too much sweetness and less ice so you take your time enjoying it without it getting diluted down. Nice location for some really good drinks. Prices are completely fair for what you are getting. read more

Stopped Blk dot coffee and what a treat! We tried the VTM coffee, Jasmine tea macchiato, and breakfast sausage bowl. The VTM was very smooth, strong and flavorful. If you want a lighter drink, but not coffee, the Jasmine macchiato hits the spot. It's flavors very light with just the right amount of sweetness. Now I didn't expect much of breakfast food from coffee spots, but the Breakfast sausage bowl is very flavorful and filling! The house made sausage was so good!! The bowl is filled with potatoes, egg frittata, pico de gallo, and chipotle drizzle. This was a winner! The cafe is pretty spacious with plenty of seating inside and outside. Not my place for coffee or matcha. Had a large match latte this time, but rather disappointing. Matcha latte had a bitter taste with no sweetness at all. ( took me 2 hours to finish). Uji Matcha Einspänner 8.18/10- made with uji culinary grade matcha latte, cane syrup, sweet foam top, cocoa powder. I always get the Vietnamese iced chai latte with espresso at Blkdot but decided to switch it up and try their matcha. This was pretty good! The matcha had this interesting balance of sweet and bitter - I personally prefer sweet matcha given my sweet tooth. It also had a slightly grainy texture which I'm not the biggest fan of when it comes to matcha, but I still really enjoyed the drink overall. My favorite part was definitely the sweet foam top with cocoa powder. I think Blkdot has the BEST foam toppings ever - they really know what they're doing. The sweet foam with cocoa powder honestly gave the drink this amazing tiramisu-like flavor which actually complemented the subtle hint of bitterness from the matcha perfectly. It also made the drink creamier which I really liked. I honestly think the drink started tasting better after the first few sips as the sweet foam top kind of mixed into the matcha. I normally don't mix my drinks but in this case, it was great! I would get this again but I'll probably stick with my usual Vietnamese iced chai latte with espresso next time (it's too good of an order imo) but this was a nice change of pace and definitely worth trying. The drinks are great but the service is so slow. It's weird, even watching as a customer you can see how unorganized their system is, if they have one. There's a barista getting bombed on iced drinks and one person whose job it seems to be to just pull shots, then set them on the counter to die. The guy on iced drinks is having to stop multiple times to go bring restock from the back. Maybe the girl pulling shots could pause and restock him so drinks get out faster? Or pull the register guy to push drinks out for 5 minutes, then go back. Because it really doesn't make sense to continue taking orders when there are 15 drinks waiting to be made. read more

I really like the yuzu mango matcha latte from here, it's the only thing I order but it's just that good!!! There's little yuzu piece at the bottom and the mango flavor pairs perfectly with the matcha! Only reason it gets 4 stars is bc they add a nondairy creamer to the mango portion of the latte and they remake their matcha in a squeeze bottle. Cute coffee shop down the street from the Newport Villas and Pelican Hill. Known for their Vietnamese coffee and Asian inspired drinks. Whoever does the hiring at this Blk Dot location deserves an award. The staff is genuinely friendly and kind every single time, not in an over-the-top way, just naturally thoughtful and welcoming. I'm usually just grabbing a coffee and going, but they consistently make the experience pleasant. The coffee is always really good, and they're happy to adjust a drink if needed and check in without making it a big thing. I decided to try the iced pumpkin VTM and oh my gosh, it was single handedly the best coffee drink I ever had. My fiancé who literally detests coffee, tried a sip of it, and then proceeded to drink half of it because he thought it was equally delicious. In fact we enjoyed it so much that we went the next 2 days to get these drinks. We've also tried the Tiramisu one which was good, but nothing can compare to the pumpkin VTM although as I'm writing this, I realized their winter menu dropped and they have a peppermint VTM on the menu that I am beyond excited to try. Cold cold Thursday morning, I went on a hunt for some pastries and some coffee. Ya know, to praise myself I've done well by surviving. I went to a different bakery cafe and got my treats and iced coffee. Feeling good I went to my car. When I opened my car door, I hit my own hand and my iced coffee goes flying, lands ungraciously on the pavement and the cup breaks. Welp all for treating myself. This plaza gets pretty busy around lunch time, but usually there is plenty of parking if you're okay with walking. I tried their Iced BLK'nd Mojito, which is reminiscent of the Mint Mojito.
