He was friendly, attentive, and made sure everything was just right without being overbearing. I ordered the toffee latte, and wow--it was absolutely delicious. This is a very unique place located in the affluent heart of Newport Beach. It is an old fashioned, quaint, mom and pop style cafe that makes their own coffee. We dropped by just before they close at four in the afternoon to get some coffee and have the most amazing carrot cake. It reminds me of my days in Santa Barbara or parts of San Francisco. I only wish I had had time to stay for the whole breakfast as they looked very good. People working here are very friendly, helpful, and hard-working, and my items were prepared super quickly. I ordered the Surfer's Burrito with the enchilada sauce on the side. Unfortunately, the "enchilada" sauce didn't taste like enchilada sauce at all. It was more like marinara or canned tomato sauce. It really missed the mark and wasn't very flavorful. I also tried the iced chai because of all the hype, but it was so overly sweet that I couldn't taste any actual chai. Definitely disappointing. Service was slow, although I understand I came during the Saturday morning breakfast rush. The atmosphere didn't help either. If you sit inside, it's freezing. If you sit outside, it's also freezing, and there are no heaters. There's barely any natural sunlight, so it feels dark and not very welcoming. The outdoor seating consists of old metal patio chairs that look like they've been around since the 1970s, not exactly comfortable or inviting, and they didn't feel very clean. However the server was extremely kind by allowing us to sit and chat with our coffees. The honey cappuccino was good and my friendly really enjoyed their lemon slushie. There was both indoor and outdoor seating with heaters outside when it's cold. Only downfalls were the parking, which is expected, and the coffee having to be to go during rush hours. It isn't a place that you sit inside , you just go to the window and then take your drink with you .
