I coincidentally had ClassPass credits to use, and I needed to get my hair done before I traveled, so this was the perfect pairing. I scheduled my appointment through the ClassPass app. I scheduled an appointment for a blowout with the Olaplex treatment. I have been using Olaplex for a few years now, and I like their products. I parked in the back of the building with many warning signs about towing. I walked into the salon about 5 minutes before my appointment. I was seated for a couple of minutes before the stylist came to get me. My hair was shampooed, treated with the Olaplex treatment and conditioned. My hair was then blow dried and styled. Do not go here if you want your makeup artist to actually show up. I had a hair/makeup appointment here at 3 pm for family photos at 6. At 4 pm, when my stylist was finishing my hair, I was informed that my makeup artist was not coming. They did not have anyone else to cover for her and their only solution was to offer me $10 off my hair service. My hair stylist was great but the lack of accountability of my makeup stylist and the business overall is such that I will not be returning and would dissuade anyone else who had an important event from doing the same. read more

I'm glad I happened across Blo. It's essentially next door to Clean Catch Fish Market which I go to weekly so one day I went in before a night out and was warmly greeted by Anna. I got the basic wash and style. I have curly/wavy hair with quite an oily scalp but this hair lasted me three days which is saying something. And it stayed as straight as she made it all throughout which is also saying something even louder since, well, you know...this is humid and warm NC. I even took the new hair to the lake and it looked great after that too. Another note worth mentioning is you will be in and out in about 30 minutes! I've been twice now and she wrapped up in 25. Went in for a blowout, scalp massage, and braid service that I booked about a month ago with a friend. We were running 15 minutes late (traveling 40 minutes from SC and stuck behind an accident) but I called the desk and they said it wouldn't be an issue, they'd simply remove the scalp massage to make up the time. I agreed and we continued on to our appointments. When we arrived, we were separated by a wall with 2 different stylists. I'm not sure I ever got my stylists name. We both requested the same style from the style book and got vastly different blow outs. My hair is straight to my ears and then spiral curled and the blow out I selected was big beachy waves with volume. I had 2 different styles on my head. Not ideal to have to come home after a blowout to fix my hair for family photos in an hour! The braid I booked was never offered and I have to assume not communicated to the stylist by reception. I didn't mind giving the scalp massage up for our tardiness assuming they were booked, but there was only 1 other person in the salon when we left and it seems we could have been accommodated. I didn't get a friendly vibe from the staff and although I'm not one to judge appearances, there was a lack of professional dress in the salon as well. Unfortunately, after they came out my hair was stick straight and I couldn't feel I could say anything because my stylist was very excited with the outcome. I was unable to get an appointment at a different blow dry bar so I decided to give Blo in Charlotte a try. I had a horrible experience. 1. My stylist maybe said 5 words to me. 2. The hair washing is supposed to be the most relaxing part, but it almost felt like she was going to rip my head off! 3. I probably mentioned at least three times that my hair would not hold curls with a round brush and she still used a round brush. 4. She literally spent MAYBE 25 minutes washing and styling my hair and I have A LOT of hair. The curls fell out within an hour. I had to curl my hair into a bun and keep it up for four hours hoping there would be some curls left for my maternity pictures. There were barely any curls left. I don't know if I was her last client of the day or what, but I would never recommend or return to this location. read more

The stylists vary. Some are good and others are ok but you can't really request a preferred stylist with their online system. You can put it in the notes Of the reservation, but I'll find that they don't read. And you don't really know your preferred stylist is working. I had a monthly membership and I hardly recall having the same stylist more than once or twice. Speaking of monthly membership, when I joined, it included a monthly gift of product. But usually they ran out of the gifts. I haven't received one since November (it's April now). I asked about it recently and they said they stopped doing it. However, the price of my membership didn't go down. If you are five - ten minutes late they will only do a dry style which generally isn't very good if your hair needs to be washed. However, They don't mind keeping you waiting if they are running behind. Doesn't seem like a fair policy. It's really too bad because I really liked the convenience of the location and the owner is a church friend. Luckily, there are other blow dry bars in Charlotte. read more

I like my blowout and think their current "back to work" special is a great price for future visits. I wish their regular blowouts were a wee bit cheaper (my favorite salons only charge $25-30), but generally they seem like a safe bet for special occasions or days when you just don't feel like doing your hair. However, their stylists vary in talent when it comes to curling. Some of the ladies did wonders with a curling iron or flat iron, and others just created weird little ringlets instead of the Jessica Simpson hair people were looking to have. Whoops! Not only was Blo Charlotte one of the only salons open on a Sunday in Charlotte but the receptionist was very accommodating in scheduling the appointment and modifying the time. I was able to email attachments of photos that achieved the look I wanted - a sexy side-swept pin-up with bouncy curls. When I walked into the salon with my fiance, I knew the place would treat me great - modern decor and a very cool vibe. To boot, they had printed out the photos I had attached. I wish I knew my hairstylist's name (she had hot pink short hair), maybe Tara? She was incredible. She was patient, a terrific listener, and very sweet. She had over 13 years of experience working with hair. She blow-dried my pre-washed hair with steam, used an iron to achieve the curls I wanted, and created the perfect look - all with her go-to products, brush, and bobby pins. I told the hairstylist I wished I could take her with me back to my hometown (Virginia) for my wedding day next summer. Such a bummer. I have been wanting to check out Blo ever since I went with my friend to the location in Raleigh, as she got her hairdone for one of her wedding events. I set up an appointment Friday at 5 cause my hubby and I were going out to celebrate our 5 year anniversary and I figured it was a great excuse for some pampering and to look cute! I immediately was escorted to a chair where we chatted about my hair and events for the evening. Side note: My stylist never introduced herself so I do not know her name....I didnt even realize this until I left. We decided on a blow out with a bit of curl. After a wash, my stylist really took her time blowing it out. (I guess that is part of the point of coming here....right!). She also curled it using a straighter and gave me a few tips when I asked about curling. I loved that she asked if i minded hair spray. Of course I don't mind....spray me down! However, I could see some people not loving it (The spray really wasnt that sticky). Absolutely loved my hair and the way it fell. Additionally, over the weekend it maintained it's awesomeness! She was very thorough and gave me exactly what I was looking for. Two downsides: 1. I am gonna sound like a prude for saying this but I really wanted some bubbles or a mimosa and was never offered anything (unlike previous reviewers). 2. I was literally the chair right beside the check in. It was just super loud and a bit distracting...mainly cause there was a large group of young girls (really, why the heck do 7 year olds need a blow out is beyond me) running around. literally. Updating this review since I have had more experience here. I started out going to Tara. The first time I had her, I didn't love what she did and she listened to my feedback and went over my hair again with a flat iron to fix it. I stuck with her since. One day over the holidays, I made a mistake of not booking specifically with Tara and got Yaz. Terrible experience. She was clearly in a rush, which doesn't really work with my thick and long hair. I stopped her halfway through and assured her that my hair was going to be a frizzy mess if she didn't work in smaller segments. She overreacted quickly and told me that she would have to switch me to another stylist BUT to be aware that she was the head trainer at this location and that everyone does it the same way. First of all, I know my hair better than anyone and know what it needs. Second of all, the immediate attitude wasn't necessary. She could have taken my feedback and adjusted course (like Tara had done). I didn't write a complaint about her highly unprofessional behavior, thinking she was just having a bad day. I vowed only to schedule with Tara from here on out. Today I showed up for my appt with Tara and was informed that she wasn't feeling well. I refused to have Yaz do my hair and the receptionist immediately raised her voice at me, telling me that I was out of luck since there were no more stylists available. The attitude from both Yaz and the receptionist was unwarranted. I have a right to choose who does my hair. Writing the owner a nice note to let her know that her customers are being mistreated for no reason. Never going back here again. read more

I have bookmarked this place for over a year now. Waiting for a perfect time to get a blow out. Well yesterday was it. I booked my appt well over a week ago.. it was easy to get in.. talking on the phone with them can be a bit annoying due to the music but hearing all the blow drying too is a given.. no wonder they spelled and pronounce my name wrong. They had it under Taro-Lynn. Oh well. But after meeting Melissa, my care taker for that 45mins.. I was impressed. She mentioned that yes the front desk have a high turn over but most of their stylists been there since the beginning. Since 2013.. the means a lot when your main doesn't have a high turnover.. she took good care of me.. ask it all before she starts. Do you want products in your hairs? Do you mind having hairspray? (Strange? Who wouldn't? But according to her, ppl do mind! Exactly 45mins later, I have beautiful voluminous beach waves that lasted til today even when I had it in a bun since at some point it was hot as crap! Melissa will be my go too when I come back now.
