I've gotten my hair cut 5 times at this location, and 3 of the times my stylist Olivia had to call me day of, to reschedule. It's extremely unfortunate because I liked how she cut my hair but it's obvious that punctuality is a last thought at this location. Today was the last straw for me, called 30 minutes before my hair appointment saying that the stylist was going to be an hour late. I have an event this evening I really wanted to have my hair done for. I just find this behavior unacceptable. Twice is a coincidence but three times is a pattern. read more

I was SUUUPPPEER nervous about finding a new salon/stylist, since my regular stylist of 15 YEARS moved away (whaaaaaa!) Came here at the suggestion of my niece and I am so glad I did. I read a bunch of reviews and selected Megan for my appointment. The place is easy to get to, easy to park, very welcoming and Megan was da bomb. Okay so let me start off with saying I've always had a terrible experience with hair salons but coming here was absolutely amazing! I've came here a total of 3 times but will definitely continue to come back, the first time was for a much needed hair cut, I got a mullet and I was booked with Dani. They were absolutely amazing and super sweet and understanding, we had great conversations and they did an amazing job with my hair. The second time was to get my hair dyed and once again, they were super sweet and did amazing with my hair. The most recent time was for a buzz cut and I was kinda anxious to make such a big chop but they were super kind to me. Apart from that the atmosphere is super cool and comforting! It's honestly such a great place to be and very friendly. Also lgbtq friendly and honestly just a great place for anyone! She absolutely nailed what I was looking for and even added a new feature that I've never heard of with pocketing the hair so the curls can sit better. I'm going to try again with a different stylist at some point - I think mine was inexperienced. My cut was just bad and not at all what I asked for. Also - like the theater seats for the waiting area are cute but my hips are just slightly too big and I had to squeeze in with the sides pinching me. I had to force myself in them bc there's nowhere else to be when waiting for a stylist. If people were beside me, I'd definitely feel awkward like on an airplane. This place is awesome. The online scheduling tool made booking easy, and the decor and music were nice and upbeat. They used masks throughout, which made me comfortable that they took COVID seriously, and were very considerate of my comfort throughout the visit. Officially making this my home for hair care! I just moved to Charlotte, and was a little worried to get my hair done by a new salon and stylist. I took a chance on Bishop, as their Google reviews were very good! I can 100% see why! I was greeted right away, and the energy was so positive. They offered me a beverage and I was sat in the stylist chair immediately. TK was amazing! Listened to exactly what I wanted, and the results were amazing. I found Kristi (the manager) on a whim when I was desperately searching for someone to fix a botched cut (that I got from a different stylist at a different salon). She happened to have same-day availability and was able to salvage my hair without taking too much off the length. Moreover, she was super patient with me because I was distraught about my hair and pretty much incoherent when I called. I later went to her to have some colorwork done and absolutely loved the results. Stay away from this place! I got two free blowout coupons at a yoga event. When I called to make the appointments for my sister and I, I specifically asked if the blowout coupons included a shampoo. I was told they were and only a special conditioning treatment would be an up charge. When we got to our appointments, I came with unwashed hair and I mentioned that I had been told a shampoo was included. The manager, Edy, just stared at me with an ugly look for a good bit and then said "the shampoo will be $5." My sister and I were both shocked. I worked in prestige cosmetics for over four years and would never in a million years treat a client like that. I can't believe someone so nasty is the manager! Kayleigh ended up styling my hair and I did get my hair shampooed since there was no point in getting unwashed hair blown out. She was very sweet and it's unfortunate she has such unpleasant management. My sister and I each had cash with us that we were prepared to use as tips, but unfortunately for them, they were so concerned about a $5 shampoo that they missed out on a much greater amount! This place needs to work on their customer service skills and make sure clients are told correct information over the phone. Never again! read more

Expensive I admit, but Katie D. was very attentive to my hair cut and color and it turn out great. I was originally booked for a different place and they ended up closing so I looked up Google and Bishop was a half mile away I called and they got me a appointment within an hour. Parking is a little treacherous considering it's right next to the Target but there's not much you can do about it. I got a cut, style, and balayage. My twin sister and I had a terrible experience here. We had cards for free blowouts. My sister even called a few days beforehand and asked if it included a shampoo. Whoever answered the phone told her yes. My sister asked the same question once we got there and was told the shampoo would be an extra $5. She told the receptionist and Edy, the manager, that she had called and asked about the shampoo, and had been told this was included. Edy just STARED at my sister. Is that how you treat a customer? No response for 5 whole seconds? And then "The shampoo will be $5". It was insulting, rude and obnoxious. We decided to stay because we did want our hair done for the special event. It was too late to find somewhere else last minute. My sister had to get the shampoo, because who wants just a 'spray down' when you get a blowout? (Fortunately, I had come with wet hair, so I did not have to pay for that.) Our hair both looked fine, but we have both had it done much better at other places, such as Drybar. Apparently this blowout did not even include hot tools, or that would have been an additional cost? Edy was the one who did my hair. She seemed so impressed with herself, as if I should be incredibly grateful that she had done this 'amazing blowout' for me. Did she think I had forgotten she had behaved abominably just a few minutes beforehand? I paid the $5 for my sister's blowout. We had each brought money for large cash tips; however, I do NOT pay for people to be rude to me. I really hope this salon enjoyed the $5 we were essentially forced to pay, because you lost out on a far greater amount from tips that we ALWAYS pay after receiving hair services. After overspending at another salon for a cut and highlights with barely any difference, I started searching on instagram for Charlotte stylists that were executing the look I wanted. I found Bishops salon, and specifically Rachel (@goldenbalayage), who totally delivered the look I was after. She really took the time to understand my color history, what I wanted, and guided me as how best to achieve it. I waited a few days to review to see how it washed and styled at home, as I like to keep it low-maintainence, and I'm so happy with it. Updated review: I had a terrible experience here with Stormy. I seriously cant believe what she did to my hair. Luckily after reviewing -In a full panic- I was reached out to by a manager. Kristi saw the mess and even pointed point out even more problems than I noticed before. They had such a great attention to detail and really took the time to make things even and great. Luckily they were able to salvage what was left, and i was so appreciative of their help and the companies concern for my happiness. Amazing! Im sorry but I also have to be honest here to possible future customers ,I just really cant recommend going to Stormy. I cant speak on her coloring skills-but I'm appalled at what occurred. I genuinely feel bad I have to say any of this, as she seemed nice and I had such high hopes. But I just have to. What I requested was simple, and im very easygoing. Ive never had this all happen before. She yanked at my hair with a brush while it was wet. She hurried through the whole thing(it was really dead at the salon too) She didn't offer me a mirror to look at the back(which after seeing the absolute mess she made there I can see why) and didn't even ask if I was happy with it when she was finished. The first time she attempted to throw me out of the chair I politely tried to pipe up to point out some things and she always had a rebuttal and poor excuse. She tried to tell me some of the problems were just 'how my hair is' as if I've not been living with it my whole life well aware of how it behaves and how Its possible and easily made cute and how I've gotten other proper styles before. She then just took off the cape and said ok ill ring you up and i was in shock that thats just how id have to leave. There was no point on keeping on trying to get her to see it. The skillset and the eye probably just wasn't there. I left with half my hair wet. It was this horrible, uneven, heavy, choppy mess. I had cancel my plans that night because theres no way I could be seen in public like that. I even tried to fix it at home, redrying and trying to do something, ANYTHING. i was devastated and in tears. My partner couldn't believe how it looked either. I cant believe how much I spent on this nightmare and still felt obligated to tip. wish shed refund that part it to me so I could give even more to the one who did an actual good job. read more

Just got my hair cut and colored by Stormy! What a great service! I was very impressed. She took her time on my consultation while we mapped out our plan, and had no trouble adding a gloss mid-service. The color which was just a Demi-permanent to cover my grays was just the right cool tone of black to complement my skin tone, and somehow she managed to bring my curls back to life while leaving me enough to still pull it back in a ponytail for work. I even loved the bangs, which we bravely decided to do deep and narrow and cornered out to frame my eyes perfectly! Dani completely ignored my requests it seemed as I ended up with a years worth of length cut off as well as super dark hair. Worst haircut I ever received in my life and I'm not the one usually to complain. The girl was really nice but can't cut mens hair to save the life of her. She simply couldn't blend the sides down on a high face now I see the patches on the sides trying to blend the sides down its ridiculous and all that for a 38 dollar haircut . This place is amazing! It's very nice, and welcoming to anyone really! For anyone who gets anxious and doesn't know much about this place as I did, there is a parking lot for this place and Bishop is right across from Target so you know if you want to show off your cool new hair while shopping groceries in style. You'd have to make your appointment online and it gives you an option to choose a specific person or choose someone at random. I did mine at random and I got the lovely Casey! You check yourself in there will be a person at the front making sure you have a mask and sanitize your hands. They will also take your temperature! They also do a hair wash for 5 dollars just for the safety of the hair dressers to be able to start on a clean canvas! Casey personally did a great job with my hair it was exciting to see and I'm rocking it! We had a great conversation and I really enjoyed it hopefully I'll come back again! Sadly disappointed! I went in today to have several colors done with Kaleigh. In the middle of my visit, the manager Edy, asked to speak with Kaleigh. I hear the "manager" yelling at Kaleigh about what her job is. Clearly shook up, Kaleigh had to walk to the bathroom to pull herself together before coming back out to do my hair....which her "manager" pulled her away from.....which WAS her job at that moment. How unprofessional one, to pull a co-worker away from a client, two for upsetting her while she still had a job to do and three for hollering at her with customers in the store! Kaleigh did a beautiful job even with the circumstances but I will never go back in that store again. A nice new store that will sink quickly with management like that. read more

I had an amazing experience from start to finish at Bishops. The staff was welcoming and personable. The salon was well prepared for COVID with curtain dividers between socially distanced chairs in addition to strict mask wearing. Great atmosphere, cohesive group of stylists and support staff. I spent most of the day there ( my hair processes sooo slow plus poor Kristi painstakingly put over a hundred foils in my hair) and will definitely be back.
