The owner of the shop put the screws back on my bike tire, checked the work I did to the back tire, put additional air in the tires, and performed a quick check up of my bike. Wow!! What an amazing experience! When I showed up at Block Bikes the first time I walked in and Rich was in the back working on some bikes. I had massively messed up my brand new e-bike and needed someone to help me get it fixed up. I went in and told him exactly what had happened and all the silly things I'd done to try to fix it before breaking it further. (yeah I'm that guy) That was a couple years and 8,006 miles ago now. He doesn't troubleshoot or work on the "electric" parts, but does an amazing job doing all the things that regular bikes need to keep them functioning safely and in top condition. Tires, tubes, tanus liners, chains, lube, brake pads, brake discs, the shifter replacement, re-adjusting levers after I crash and mangle them, brake line bleeding, etc. He has a really nice range of supplies and bike accessories, as well as lots of regular bikes in-stock for purchase. Couldn't ask for more friendly service. He's always got a big smile to greet me with and will stop to chat when he's got the time. Great prices, great atmosphere. Each time I go in I know Rich will take good care of whatever I have going on at the moment. I didn't realize I could enjoy a bike shop experience so much; I'd give Block Bikes 6 stars if it'd let me. I've watched him work with every level of rider from top-end competitors, to first-time riders to kids and various disabled and more elderly folks; and he does a great job of meeting people where they're at and assisting them accordingly. read more

I have had my Electra Beach Cruiser for about twelve years now. I ride it almost every day. In the last month or so I noticed that my beloved bike just wasn't performing the way it used to; it wasn't as fun or as casual to ride. One night we had dinner at Goldfish Sushi and we stopped into Block Bikes. I wanted to look at new bikes. I was preparing myself for the worst; that I was going to need a new bike. I spoke with Rich about what was going on with my bike. He told me to bring it in and he would make it as good as new. He did! My bike rides better than it ever has before! Just left this shop, owner is a total jerk! Accused us of taking his "tickets" ... some promotional flyers for a circus that's coming to town. We shopped the store bought about $40 worth of merchandise, walked around trying to kill time because he was busy repairing someone's bike. He never acknowledged us. Never said he'd be right with us ... just awkward silence. After about 20 minutes he looked at us so we could proceed to check out. My husband was the one that greeted him. Didn't apologize or at the very least acknowledge the time we waited. All for the sake of trying to support a small shop. On our way out the shop he said, "could you guys put those back?" We didn't know he was talking to us but out of courtesy turned around to see if he was talking to us. Confused, we said, "these?" He said, "yes, those are our tickets." He accused us of stealing tickets ... again, they were promotional flyers. Needless to say, never coming back! I would have totally preferred to give a big chain my money instead of being profiled as a thief. What a jerk. I've been a customer at this location for sometime. I purchased my daughter's bicycle several months ago and have been very happy with it. I decided to have my older bike tuned up. I've always had problems with the gears not shifting correctly. Rich spent a significant amount of time perfecting my shifting mechanism, and it works better than it did when I first bought it. Note: I rarely find cause to rate a business (good or bad), but my experience today more than warranted it. Preface: I brought a homemade, classic Italian-style road frame to a different local bike shop to have the headset cups pressed into the head tube after speaking with them over the phone. After attempting to do so (and chipping the frame paint), they said they were unable and referred me to well-known shops down in Santa Clarita who could do it. I called one of them, with whom I've had work done before, and they suggested Block Bikes as being the superior option (of all the bike shops in Lancaster/Palmdale/Santa Clarita). Bonus: it would save a 45 minute drive each way. Block Bikes: I brought the frame into Block Bikes where Rich (the owner?) was super helpful in evaluating the issue and able to easily install the headset cups. During my visit he also worked with a couple customers to size and select the right bikes for their needs. I was super impressed with his knowledge of everything from vintage-style road bikes through modern mountain biking (and everything between). It was clear that he wants his customers to be happy with their purchase, both now and for as long as they own the bike, and he was a pleasure to chat with. Takeaway: I plan to make this my go-to bike shop for anything I can't do at at home for my wife's bikes or mine. They have a well-appointed repair shop to service pretty much every type of bicycle, their recommendations are tailored to each individual's needs, and they care about customer satisfaction. I almost didn't go because of a couple of the reviews but I'm very glad I did. I called the "Squeaky Wheel" twice. The first time a guy told me I'd have to leave my new bike for a couple days to replace a chain. The second time a girl answered the phone and I swear she didn't know the correct address or how I should get there. Because of that I proceeded to Block. Rich the owner was very helpful/knowledgeable of my new electric bike. The poor guy stayed busy the entire time I was in the shop answering phone calls from many people calling for advice. Since I upgraded to a very fast electric bike he helped my find a great helmet too. When I moved to the AV more than 10 yrs ago I tried a couple of other bike shops. One had kids doing repairs that didn't know what they were doing and spent all their time ignoring customers and laughing with each other, the second shop tried to sell me a bike that didn't fit me & that I didn't want then I heard about Block Bikes. Rich was a pro cyclist, knew everything about repair & bikes and was more interested in treating the customer rights and getting them what they needed. Over the years I've purchased several bikes, had them professionally fitted by Rich and have taken the bikes in when I needed maintenance, repair, parts, or information. I'm an older lady with a rollator (read "walker with brakes"). My brakes were stuck. They were locked and the walker is the only way I can get around in my house. So I called BLOCK BIKES. The brakes looked like hand brakes on a bike, so what the heck? Well, a nice young man answered the phone and told me "Don't exactly know what you're talking about but come on down." Well, I get there and Trevor was my knight in shining armour. He was the young man I spoke to on the phone. He took me right in and worked on my walker. It gave him a fight, but he never gave up. I called to bring my electric bike in to get the shifter lever replaced and tune up the gears and they refused to work on it due to buying the bike online??? He stated that working on my bike will put him out of business, How dumb is that, they obviously have a skill set that I do not have AND I am more than willing to pay for the service and he refused to work on it. I would give them a zero star if I could. They sold us a mirror and said if it does not fit bike then return it for an exchange or refund. Went back a couple days later as it did not work on my bike and he refused to exchange or return and then accused me of damaging the product and pointed to some small defect on the mirror which was a wave in the mirror I had not even noticed and I told him i never used it and the wave is a defect and he sold me a defective product. He refused to honor the return. I have been a long time customer and my family has several bikes and started going there too. Not anymore as we will never shop there again. Terrible service and the audacity to accuse me of damaging something I never even used. $20 product will cost him a lot more in lost business. Shaking my head! read more

We had the pleasure of speaking with the manager Dan. Awesome is an understatement. We spent about 1 hour and some change in there and we knew so much more after we left. Dan titled it "knowledge vomit" which made me laugh so much. Ok, so Dan has a ton of knowledge, is honest, not time pressured, funny, and everything else that customer service should stand for. In the store you can feel the atmosphere and it is refreshing to find people with passion for what they are selling combined with passion for people. A bike is an investment that you should feel good about, but after the amount of knowledge gained, test driving 3 bikes we know that a "Walmart" bike is not the way to go for us.
