Met and exceeded my expectations - had read the Yelp reviews and the burger kudos had me salivating. Yum! Fresh meat patty cooked to perfection, juicy tomato slices, crisp shredded iceberg lettuce, a square of cheese, and "Block Sauce" which is a house concoction that seems to be mayo-based. It has the tiniest hint of heat, just a tingle on the palate. Served on the most delicious bun I've had in a long time. Also comes with onion and pickle if desired. I opted for shoestring fries which are my absolute favorite accompaniment for a burger. Other Yelpers have raved about their house tots. 10/10 would order that burger and fries on the regular. Love that the soda is self-serve. Likely will try more menu choices once I get my burger fix. Particularly if that turkey sandwich uses fresh sliced meat from a real turkey. Not a drinker, so no comment on what looks like a dazzling array of beers. I'm still new in town, so didn't understand the words "same games as prior establishment in the same spot." Soon as I entered I could tell it's a multi-function space - perfect for families with active kids. The vibe was total joy. The food was beyond even what the Yelp reviews had set me up for. Came here for a "buy nothing" event. This place was huge ! So much indoor and outdoor seating. There are many little shops around the area as well to check out. They had a good selection of food & beer as well as entertainment with TVs all around. While we didn't dine too much (just got drinks & apps). The servers & employees were welcoming and nice. I finally got around to checking out Block, newly opened in place of Device Brewing that closed down a while ago. Inside is pretty much the same, with perhaps a few more games than before? It's always been a great space for meeting up and hanging out indoors or outside, and to attend weekly trivia/game events. I was very curious to see how Block would compare to Device in terms of food quality, and I was pleasantly surprised! The food doesn't look like much, and might even seem unappealing in some respects due to very lightly colored buns for the burgers, but I have to say it's absolutely a step up from Device in terms of flavor and quality. The tots, which are shaped like little Tetris "blocks" are some of the best i've had. I was literally caught off guard with how good they were. The fries are my favorite shoestring variety, and the burgers were cooked well and flavorful. There was a hint of lemon in the sauce that I really enjoyed. The group I was with all enjoyed a big variety of drinks, from various ales and IPAs, to a tasty guava cider, to... wait for it... a Baja Blast seltzer?! It looked just as you are imagining it right now. It was weird, but I like breweries that try silly and interesting flavor combos, and it's good to see Block isn't afraid of that. Went for an event on a Friday evening around 6:30p. Parking was fine, some variety on tap, and decent bar food menu. Prices were standard, about $8-9 for a pint, food items were California prices. Plenty of seating, nice outdoor patio, chill staff. Food Items: Veggie burger: 4.2/5 - the tots were pretty good. Nice salt kick to balance the brew. Burger was fresh, tasty. They did run out of the 'specials' (buffalo chicken sandwich), but a side of buffalo sauce helped me scratch that itch. Regular burger (block burger?) - Friend enjoyed it. Didn't give a rating. It was good, decent, normal. Overall, if you are in the area, check them out. I am not really a fan of loud children running around and screaming at a bar, but that doesn't impact the rating. Dropped in to take care of Happy Hour and watch some soccer with the Mrs. Place was packed ,quite busy with array of familys watching soccer, and they were understaffed for the first 40 minutes we were there, but the few staff on duty handled everything in excellent and timely fashion until additional workers came. They do have a QR ordering option so food and drink is brought to you and you can keep count of your running tab before closing it out I had the East Brothers Red IPA, the sliders and the Buffalo Cauliflower Bites and my wife got xhicken tenders. Beer- cold, and very tasty ! Sliders were decent, as were the chicken tenders but the cauliflower was excellent . Happy hour prices were great, and despite the large crowd and short staff, all the crew was most excellent and great spirits in handling the serving The place can get a little noisy with a larger crowd, but plenty of seating both inside and outside and still isolated enough that you can have conversation with your table. Stopped by to check out this place on a Wednesday evening. They have HH Mon-Fri 3p-6p. It wasn't super busy. I ordered the Lake Tahoe Aleworx Double IPA IPA - Imperial / Double * 8.5% ABV. It was good. I would get a pitcher if this next time. Staff were friendly. Plenty of seating inside & outside. It's exactly the same as when Device was around. There's a kids play area. Been waiting to check this place out since Device shutdown. Very limited food menu but good beer selection. Service was slow on a Friday night to be expected but kinda lack luster tbh. We asked for a soft drink and were directed toward the soda machine but no ice. We waited 7-10 min in between beverages to be asked if we want another round and tbh didn't feel welcomed. I had high hopes when I heard of the opening after Device shutdown. Saw a video saying the food menu would be limited so they could focus on consistency and quality food. I have to say I was not impressed at all. My turkey club was mostly bread and could have used more flavor. Tots were crunchy, so I'll give them that. Most disappointing was paying $8 for their so called HH priced pickle bombs that only had 6 pieces with the pickles being paper thin and almost hard to find with all the cream cheese and batter. I also tried a piece of their lemon pepper wings and was not a fan. Good fry on the chicken, but flavored salt just wasn't for me. I really wanted to be a supporter since it's the local taproom and nice for the area, but after having the food and just average beer...I can't say I really have any reason to visit again. I hope the other locals can keep them afloat. Service workers were great and made sure we were cared for. Very polite and accommodating. Ambiance of the place is just like a good taproom/pub with enough screens to keep all the sports games on and kept clean and tidy. So happy that Block Craft Beer & Kitchen opened in our Pocket/Greenhaven neighborhood! We had a Pocket/Greenhaven Women's Pickleball Luncheon (30 people attended) and everyone was impressed with their food and beer! The service and management we're so accommodating, quick, and nice. The restaurant was spacious and clean. Great place to host group events. They even had games like dominoes for you to play! Opening night at Block and everything seemed to run pretty smoothly--food came out quickly, tasted great, and we even enjoyed a game of Tots Tetris during our meal! It was nice to see a buzzing community all out together at a new spot! From what we saw tonight, Block seems like it's going to be a great family spot with a lively vibe that still feels easy to enjoy. Here are some food highlights: - Chicken tendies = "best ever" (per my kid, who says that every time, but still, strong showing - Tetris tots = self explanatory - Flatbread chicken sando = delish. My wife and I thought we would try Block Restaurant in our neighborhood for dinner. We weren't very impressed! No welcome in. There's no table service and I had to go inside to order. They will bring the food out, but the service was terrible, they brought my wife's food with a side salad, but didn't bring dressing or a fork (I had to go inside twice for these items). The food was mediocre, and one burger was undercooked. The tables were dirty with lack of condiments, with some tables not having any at all. No one came out to ask if everything was good after they served the food. My real thoughts about this place: No enthusiasm for being a new restaurant. Nothing that will bring us back! A very limited menu, nothing special. I give it 6 months, if something doesn't change. They have three cooks...one too many for what they serve. read more

As Pocket residents we were super excited to have a new joint open where Device used to be. The outdoor seating is dog friendly and great for kids to run around. It's also partly shaded, which is nice on hot, sunny days. We had the burger and turkey club, both of which were solid. The tater tots are Tetris shaped, which I LOVE. The servers were friendly and helpful. Our food took a few minutes to come out, but that's totally expected on a busy Friday night only a week after opening. We'll be coming back for sure. read more

For an average Saturday afternoon, the establishment was struggling with service and the kitchen/food quality. I'll definitely be back, as we want to support our local spots.
