I have done a previous review for Hawks in which I was quite impressed and throughly enjoyed the food. The reason for my new review is to bring light to an amazing dish they only sell on Monday. I found this quite by accident from an a post on Instagram. What is this delicious treat you ask? Hawks makes a bucket of Fried Chicken worth of being in pantheon of Fried Chicken in Sacramento . The crust is crunchy without being greasy and the meat is tender and wonderfully spiced. It comes with a delicious Mac and Cheese, some spicy Cole slaw, and great biscuits with a honey dipped sauce. The bucket serves 3 people, now this is not inexpensive but if you want that go to KFC for the usual greasy bird. I would put this on some of the best fried Chicken in Sacramento. If you are having a birthday. anniversary or anything else please give this a try. We finished our bucket 2 days ago and I am still craving this chicken. read more

It's like 3.5 stars. I will first start off by saying the vibes and service were absolutely immaculate. After finding out we would be splitting everything they pre-portioned things into separate plates and even cut the burger in half ignore the dimly lit photos.. it was the best I could do haha. (bread is complementary and the salty butter is just yum!! Highly recommend saying yes when they ask if yall want it) Kennebac Fries $12 Very interesting combination; the fries were exactly crispy but they weren't mushy either, and I felt the extra parm threw the dish off. I wish they came out crispier, but otherwise you can't really go wrong with a fry. Public House Chicken Wings $16 I'm a very large fan of fish sauce wings after having made them at home and had them at a variety of Viet places! This one is definitely yum with a perfectly crispy exterior. I think the roasted peanuts can he crushed up and added as a layering on the outside, otherwise they seemed to get in the way of the wing eating experience. Tagliatelle $38 AHH ok a little pricey, but the rich umami broth had a slight sweetness to it and an amazing depth of flavor. If that broth came as a soupy base over rice like an ochazuke with the lamb on top and some crispy fried shallots.. oh lord i might cry. The pasta itself was a perfect al dente. My one critique is it feels like the dish is missing something to add that extra oomph! of substance. Bacon & Onion Jam Cheeseburger $25 we were so full we to-go'd this bad boy but pls look at its gorgeousness. Overall, 7/10. Yummy dinner at Hawks! Came here for a birthday dinner and booked a table through Resy. The restaurant is much smaller than I expected. Probably seats ~40 people including the outdoor seating. Apps are meant to share and if you're with a party of 4+, I would suggest at least getting two orders of each. Mussels were a hit, Caesar salad was good, and the shishito peppers were flavorful. For entrees, I got the special lobster dish that was tasty. Good service and everything came out pretty quick. Would come back again. read more

Brought a friend here for her birthday and we had a wonderful time. We enjoyed everything; food, service, ambiance and cocktails. The steak was cooked to order, the pasta was homemade, and every dish was seasoned to perfection. We ordered a variety of cocktails, including, but not limited to gin and vodka martinis, old-fashioned and a few of their specialty drinks. All were well-made with quality ingredients. If I had to critique one thing it's the lack of noise canceling decor. Yes, can be done. Especially with ceiling noise dampened materials. read more

I absolutely love Hawks in Granite Bay, and finally had a chance to enjoy Hawks public house in Sacramento. This was a ladies that lunch get together, and this location is Hawks sister location. It exudes a warmth, and a slightly different vibe. I love the fact that they have their own parking lot, and parking is free. We decided that with the encouragement of our waiter, that we would start off with the Kennebec fries. The fries were crisp and tasty, but definitely could've used seasoning, and the garlic aïoli was fairly light, and they missed the mark a little bit. We both ended up ordering the grilled shrimp and rice noodle for entrees. The grilled shrimps were very lightly seasoned. Like the fries, we both commented that we would've preferred something more flavorful. The salad that the shrimps were served around was pretty bland. We both had to request extra dressing, because it seems that both of our entrées were missing dressing. Hawks is a great place to go with a date, close friends, a SO, or family. This is the place you go when you want that grown-up meal. We had a great time, and service was attentive and helpful. Even though we had a couple of blips, I would still recommend going to Hawks. I think they tend to fall off the radar because they're at the far end of Midtown. Don't let that be a reason to miss out! read more

Service: 000 Stars. We arrived at 12:05pm on 6/19/26 for lunch for a party of two in the middle of the restaurant. 2 parties outside dining, 4 patrons at the bar and 2 other tables- 2 top and 6 top. We were seated ASAP and asked still or sparkling h20. The water was brought immediately. We proceeded to then watch for the next 20 minutes as the gentleman in the black button down whom I assume is the manager; manage the pass and the bartender attend to the folks at the bar. No one came by to inquire were we ready to order or a we will be right with you. Silence and people passing us by. I walked up to the bartender with the strawberry curly hair with glasses letting them know we are leaving after lack of service or attention. I am a fan of Hawk's and a lover of their food and you can see in my reviews as a Yelper I am honest. I really wanted to like Hawks as it was recommended online to me as someone visiting from out of town. However, it ended up being one of those places that looks great but is solidly mid, and is questionably expensive to boot. I got the beet salad, which was more like an artfully arranged minimalist deconstructed salad popular in the mid-2000s. While the beets themselves (an exaggeration, when recombined there was a total of one (1) beet) were good, it came with these weird rubbery smashed goat cheese disks that were bland and seemed like they were premade a week ago. Like the saying goes, "The food was bad and there was not enough of it." For my main, I got a burger and fries, which was... fine. It was an okay burger. The fries were also just okay. But for the price they really should have been MUCH better. Plus, it's one of those tall, unwieldy, towering burgers that guarantees an underseasoned patty and unintentional deconstruction during the meal. On my way back to the south bay I got a way better burger for way less at Cali Kid. My service was actually quite good - my waiter was very attentive and checked on me often, and was friendly and engaging. Ambiance-wise, it's very cozy with a cabin, public house vibe. I feel like it might be a better place to get drinks and soak up the relaxed vibes before a main event elsewhere. This place could be so much better if they just tweaked the food a little... or a lot. read more

This little gem of a bistro is officially on my must-visit list in Sacramento. I recently joined two work colleagues here for dinner, and was completely overwhelmed by their cheerful ambiance, impeccable service, and - of course - absolutely delicious food. It was a warm weekday evening when we arrived, and the place was hopping. I was glad my colleague had thought to make a reservation! We started with cocktails. Mine was the Coral Crusher, and it was the perfect drink for a warm summer evening. Then, we ordered a couple of appetizers to share. First was their house-made gnocchi, with a sauce of tender, freshly-picked tomatoes. Next up, blistered shishito peppers - mild, salty, and tasting like they'd just been harvested from the garden. For a main course, I ordered the miso black cod, which was a hearty portion served atop a generous, creamy heap of risotto. It was one of the best things I've eaten this year! The fish was fresh, tender, and perfectly seared. My only complaint is I could barely finish it because I was so full from the appies. :) I visit Sac a couple of times a year, and will definitely be returning to Hawks in the very near future! read more

I've been here once before and actually left without getting my food because the service was so off-putting. It's been about a year, so I decided to give it another shot. The interior is beautiful, clean, modern, and upscale. The exterior, though, doesn't quite match that energy. It's on a busy street and not especially pleasant from the front or the parking lot. Unfortunately, the service still missed the mark. We had to ask twice for water, and it took about 15 minutes after being seated for it to finally arrive. we had a middle aged blonde waitress, we hardly saw her. That said, the food presentation was great. The beet salad was absolutely fantastic, and the meatball and polenta special (as of April 13) was also really good. The pastor appetizer was a bit chewy and not the most enjoyable texture-wise, though the flavors were there. I ordered the salmon for my main, and it was disappointing very plain with a strong fishy taste. Not something I'd order again. Overall, the ambiance and visuals are strong, but the full dining experience feels pretty mid and underwhelming, particularly because of the 0 star service. read more

The ambiance of this restaurant has improved since I was last here. It quite charming inside and now they have an outdoor starting area with a fireplace and water feature which will be nice for non blustery rainy winter days like today was. There is complementary parking in the Sutter lot right next to the hospital which is so appreciated in this area. The red filled up with reservations on a blustery Tuesday which made me hopeful for the continued success of this fine dining establishment. The servers are attentive anticipatory of your desires and top notch. They only har one Chardonnay by the glass ($17 and tasty). Their coffee game is strong. One of the best Brussel Sprout dishes I have ever had. Wow the chef really got them perfectly char-crunch on the outside and not over done on the inside and the sweet non greasy flavor was perfection! None of the other dishes really wowed me . While the beat salad is good and pretty, it was so much better 10 years ago. The gnocchi in hen of the woods mushroom sauce was very tasty but the texture of the gnocchi was too mushy like mashed potato balls. The duck liver was just ok. The scallop carpaccio's was not good. The lobster spaghetti was just ok. Expect to pay over $100 per person at this restaurant. read more

We decided to give this place a try after eyeballing it for a while. Wasn't sure what to expect, but we were quite underwhelmed. We ordered the Kennebec fries to start, and they were some of the crunchiest fries I've ever had. The texture reminded me of in n out but thicker, lacked seasoning other than parmesan and chives, hurt my teeth after couple of em. The parmesan was very flavorful and the dip made them eatable. We then ordered the pork belly appetizer and carbonara next. The pork belly was the best out of the 3 dishes. Very light yet nice smokey flavor and soft texture. It came with watermelon radishes that added a sweet pinch to it. The carbonara though, was probably the most bland one I have ever had. I have been to Italy and around couple of good restaurants to know what a good authentic carbonara is, unfortunately this dish wasnt worth it here, especially for $32 and a 2% surcharge which is a different issue (I firmly believe that the restaurant workers should be fairly compensated by the restaurant and not worded towards the consumer to blame for unfairly wages that restaurant is not paying the workers). Anyway some other positives - the staff was nice and the Arnold palmer i ordered was really refreshing albeit sour. Other big negative - it was really hot inside, took away from the experience a bit. This place needs more than 5 stars. The service is always impeccable and food is the best in the area (no doubt). Since I'm not a heavy drinker (anymore) they are also a great location for mocktails. The mixologist takes his drinks very seriously. You can't go wrong with their deviled eggs and Caesar salad but the star of my show tonight was the tagliatelle. Served with plum wine braised lamb, crispy maitake mushrooms, peptia chili crunch - this is one of the best pasta dishes I've ever had. I had a really disappointing experience here. We walked in expecting a nice meal, but were told that it was "bar seating only" for happy hour. That's fine, but the way it was handled felt very unwelcoming. They let us walk in and look for seats on our own with no guidance, no follow-up, and no service at all. We ended up just standing around feeling awkward and out of place, like we weren't supposed to be there. No one checked on us or explained how things worked. Given the reputation (and Michelin recognition), I honestly expected a much higher level of hospitality and organization. Instead, the experience felt confusing and uncomfortable. Came here for the first time to sister restaurant to the French Hawks in Granite Bay. We were seated promptly for lunch. Not too busy. Server was accommodating and patient to answer questions for my gluten intolerance and my friend's dairy allergy. I got to to try their grilled shrimp salads with rice noodles - super light and delicious. My friend had the grilled chicken Cobb salad and she enjoyed all of their glutinous French bread. We shared the duck liver mousse and I got to try their mushroom soup (gluten free but not dairy free). Smooth taste with just right amount of dairy and hint of mushroom flavor. Hawks Public House is a gastropub located at the three-way intersection of Alhambra, Stockton, and P, at the border of East Sac, Midtown, and North Oak Park. It's where Stockton Blvd ends and meets with P St. I believe it's the only other business that occupies the "Sutter Health" facility area. Hawks serves up appetizers, entrees, sweets, and drinks. They're open for both lunch and dinner but are well known for takeout as well. Every Monday they serve up fried chicken, and because today is St. Patrick's Day they also offered corned beef and cabbage. My wife surprised me and suggested we pick-up Hawks for dinner (and we NEVER eat out on Mondays!). We had never been, but have always wanted to try them! So I preordered the fried chicken meal for myself and corned beef and cabbage for my wife. Hawks is a 10 minute walk from where we live, literally just a couple blocks. But it was cold and rainy so your boy drove lol. There are a plethora of parking spots in this strip mall area. Hawks is divided into two facilities: the "Public House" and "Provisions." For takeout simply walk into the "Public House" side (I think lol). Entering the "Public House" facility, the ambiance is absolutely incredible! Very unique artwork, upholstery, and colorful walls. I felt stupidly underdressed waiting for my order in my Reigning Champ 'sweat suit' (but I still looked fly doee lol). Staff are INCREDIBLY friendly. The host kept apologizing that I had to wait, but it really was only five or so minutes? When you order Hawks' takeout you have to choose a pickup time. And from what I can tell they are pretty spot on with their timing. I arrived at my 6:15pm pickup time and my food was ready close to 6:20pm. I raced home excited to devour my order. The fried chicken meal comes with three pieces of boneless chicken, one cornbread, mac and cheese, and potato salad. My wife's order contained corned beef, cabbage, carrots, and fingerling potatoes. Everything was absolutely DELICIOUS! Fantastic!! The chicken is extremely crispy without being greasy. Their mac and cheese and potato salad are very flavorful. AND they provide a homemade BBQ sauce that has just the right amount of tang!! It doesn't taste artificial like others. My wife really enjoyed her meal as well! I tried some of her corned beef and the saltiness made it tasty! I will definitely order it next St. Patrick's Day (if they bring it back for 2026). The reason why I'm giving Hawk's 4 stars instead of 5 is the price. Obviously the price of food is ridiculous right now in America (hmmm wonder why? Smh.) And that affects restaurant pricing. However, my meal was $26 and my wife's was $32. Definitely on the higher end considering the portion size could've been bigger. There also was a hair in my potato salad. Luckily it was on the top so I was able to scoop it up and throw it out quickly without losing my appetite lol. But accidents happen, and everything was absolutely delicious! So I won't hold it against them. Overall, if you're looking for thoughtful gastropub takeout, Hawk's is for you! When it warms up my wife and I plan on walking there and dining in! It looked like such a unique atmosphere when I was awaiting my order. It'll be hard to go back to cooking on Mondays after how delicious this meal was! On this year's St. Patrick's day, we finally decided to try some Hawks to-go. The husband picked up our order for takeout: the corned beef and cabbage for myself (classic for the holiday) and Monday's fried chicken special for him. I was pleasantly surprised about how flavorful this meal was. I enjoyed my corned beef and cabbage, albeit slightly on the smaller side for the hefty price of $35/plate. I expected maybe more than 1.5 fingerling potatoes, two tiny carrots, and 1/8 of cabbage. I'd probably get the fried chicken next time if we happened to order on a Monday. I thought the fried chicken was crispy and packed with flavor. The sides were nice and tasty too, although we instantly found a hair in the potato salad. That was a turn off. Won't be coming back. We came here because of the great reviews, but unfortunately our experience was disappointing from start to finish. We ordered two margaritas, and the quality was inconsistent -- one was much stronger than the other. We also ordered fries with parmesan on the side because I cannot eat dairy, but they still came out covered in parmesan despite specifically requesting it on the side. I asked for extra sauce as well, but it never arrived. We then ordered pasta and waited over 30 minutes for it. It didn't come out until we told the server we had to leave, and only then were we told they were "plating it." I ordered the lobster pasta, and it was extremely spicy -- so spicy that I couldn't eat it at all. The waitress never mentioned how spicy the dish was, which would have been helpful before ordering. Overall, the food looked much better online than it was in person, and the service was very slow throughout the night. We also sat outside, and while it's not the restaurant's fault, the ambiance was chaotic with ambulances, traffic stops, and constant honking, which made it hard to enjoy the evening. The chicken tasted like it was fried in old grease. The butter for the complimentary bread was too salty. Probably should not pre salt the butter. Although I get the concept with it being sourdough. 1 egg cut in half for devil eggs, that's a terrible portion size for an appetizer. The taste was decent. The mash potatoes and gravy were cold. There was a perfect char on both the patty and the bun, yet the meat remained surprisingly moist and juicy on the inside. Went here for dinner with my parents on Saturday night. We originally were supposed to be seated outside but it was pretty cold and windy and a table happened to open up inside so we moved in. Our waitress was so nice as was the rest of the staff. It's not a huge restaurant but the bar area is so pretty with the backlighting. We got the Caesar salad to start which was good. I got the pomegranate cosmo which was a good drink and for dinner we got the miso glazed black cod, herb roasted chicken, and fusilli carbonara. This restaurant is under rated on Yelp. It deserves at least 4.4 stars. Went with my parents for dinner, and while the dinner was a bit expensive, the food was very good, the portions were in the large size, and the service was beyond excellent. For food, I had the tuna tartare and the short ribs and both were incredible. I like savory dishes, so it was fine with me, but the short ribs were on the saltier end of the spectrum. We had the chocolate candy bar for dessert which was delicious (kinda like a Reese's cup flavor) and the beignets (which I would probably not recommend, they were a bit dense for a beignet). read more

How can you go wrong? Not eating here!! We started with the deviled eggs with peas but you couldn't taste the peas and they were delish! We also got a mozzarella appetizer two of them. They were so good I didn't even get pics! My husband got his Father's Day rigatoni. My daughter got pork chop schnitzel. And I got Miso cod, everything was so good! This is and always will be our go to spot! The wait staff is always so attentive and nice! Jen was amazing! It's so chill! People wear jeans and others dress up!!
