I recieved 3 implants from Dr Blodgett 4 years ago. This came at a cost of over 30 thousand dollars. Now they are failing and feel let down now I have to pay double. I would not come here again. read more

I went here a couple of years ago for an appt after I learned about Dr. Blodgett from Dr. Jess. She reported great experiences here and raved about how they are at cavitation surgery. I suspected I had several cavitations, due to ongoing health issues and having a botched wisdom teeth removal over 20 years ago. The staff were all very nice, but after flying in from San Diego, I was under the impression I would receive an eval from Dr. Blodgett. They said he was busy, which was disappointing since we booked a several day trip to Portland in hopes that he would help me get some answers. Another Dentist came in reviewed my Xrays and seemed perplexed. He basically said he was not sure if I had cavitations, maybe I did, but they wouldn't know until they started the procedure. Um, what? He said I may have just had tooth fragments in there which isn't a big deal but it also may be cavitations. Spending the money and doing an invasive procedure on, you may need this or you may not didn't sit well with me. Maybe I would have had a different experience with Dr. Blodgett, but this was my experience. Hope that helps anyone considering treatment here. read more

This review 8s about care quality, but im not allowed to select this option. In 2019, Dr Blodgett did 8 implants. From the beginning, a front tooth was loose. His solution, hit it with a hammer to reseat it. Said there was nothing to do because of the angle resulting from my wanting to have a gap between the front two teeth. I had asked for this on several occasions, but the final product did not allow for this, so the tooth remains loose to this day. A couple of months ago a rear cap and abutment came off. When I went it, he was able to reseat it without using any new material. It took an hour, yet I was charged $1,500. A couple of weeks ago, another molar came loose, requiring an emergency visit to a different dentist. Now the entire implant has fallen out. I can't go back to Dr Blodgett because he's totally lost my trust, and I would be charged some ridiculous amount. His office and staff are great, but that doesn't make up for the shoddy experience. read more

I went for ceramic fillings a few years later they fell out. I tried to have them replaced as is under a standard warranty for full ceramic fillings and they tried giving me a run around. The staff is cold and they are very mechanical. Do not go here. Bad vibes. read more

I came in for a crown in mid December and was treated like royalty. Dr. Blodgett addressed my concerns to the fullest and had me laughing for the approximate 2 hours that I was in the clinic. Mitzi brought me back and made me feel at ease the entire time. She has been involved in my care on more than one occasion and has always been pleasant and knowledgeable. Her bedside manner along with Dr. Blodgett's humor was over the top! Sara B took great care of me from the moment I checked in and during my time in the wellness wing.I was treated to a massage chair while I waited, red light therapy and tea with endless refills. My numbing was done perfectly (near painless) and the entire experience was absolutely positive! This dental office is so high tech, so clean, so inviting and full of knowledgeable staff just waiting to treat you with the utmost care & concern. I cannot recommend Dr. Blodgett enough! This dental office continues to provide me with excellent care and has met all of my needs as a patient. I left the office in awe and will definitely be back for any future dental care I may need. NOT HANDICAP FRIENDLY I'm sure the dentist is smart and knowledgeable. Unfortunately we never got to find out. My grandmother is in an electric wheelchair with a faulty hip replacement that caused metal poisoning and cervical neck fusion. Dental work has to happen a little differently for her as a handicap person, and we have to use a biological dentist due to the metal toxicity. She has an emergency with a tooth that is black and painful. A dentist in Lebanon wants to help but his facility isn't really accessible so he points us to this office. The woman at the desk said she needed to ask the team if the office was going to be accessible for her, but then didn't call back for nearly 10 days just to say it wasn't gonna work. We had called 4 times at that point and made clear it was an emergency. The real kicker? Her suggestion was to go to a dental school! Seriously, an old woman with major health issues and metal poisoning should go get her work done by a non-biological dentist who is still learning their craft? This was deadly and offensive advice. Either the office doesn't stand behind their holistic principles or aren't that invested in healing people. But by the time I went there to talk to someone face to face about our experience and saw the general filth of the area, I didn't bother. That's wasn't a sanitary location to get her mouth worked on anyway no matter how it looks inside. Not with garbage, defecating, and shooting up out front. If money is no object for you then you'll enjoy this place. Picture a Lexus dealership of dental care. All of the fancy stuff you pay for. Also, their "blood draw" they mention a lot is a mere blood sample put in a centrifuge..... for $900. Unless you live close by, make sure your visit is warranted. What really should have been 1 visit has turned into 3, and the last two were 11 minutes and 12 seconds. Very nice staff, however it's over the top and awkward at points. Upon contact, I am immediately prompted to sign up for a "New Patient Experience" to create my personal "dental road map", at the tune of $787. And here I am thinking I could just find a great dentist to look at my teeth. If I want an "experience" I'll go see the Mayan ruins. And charging $787 just to get to a point where they can give me a quote for what the real work will cost seems....yeah. I'm surprised they don't quote you for the emails sent to quote you for the dental work quote. read more

tl;dr the dentists are great, but the front office staff is terrible - and they aren't associated with any insurance, so be ready to pay out of pocket (or with a kidney) What a disappointing experience. To begin, my husband called to see if they were accepting new patients and was told that the "new patient specialist" would need to call him back before he could proceed. After waiting 2 days for this specialist to return his call, he phoned in again, this time reaching her - and was told that she "had his information but had been too busy to return the call". She then told him how lucky he was to be accepted and that most new patients were by referral only, and then finally took our insurance information and scheduled the appointments. When I arrived, the front desk clerk was pleasant and helped me get checked in - again, taking my insurance information. Our daughter went back, had a cleaning and basic 6 month examination, had a tooth "wiggled out" (no anesthetic or special procedure). It was then, and only then, that we were informed that this dentist "is not partnered with any insurance companies" and that, at best, we would be able to use our out-of-network coverage. The man processing my payment also informed me that "out-of-network coverage is usually nothing", which makes me seriously wonder why we gave them our insurance information TWICE before they bothered to tell us that it was unlikely that any of the services would be covered. Our dental ended up covering $100 and 10% of the remainder, and we paid almost $220 out of pocket for what basically amounted to a checkup. We will not be back. read more

I have always had trauma or issues with most dentists in my life. As a person who has had a good amount of dental work done I can confidently say this is my best dental experience. Blodgette and his team are awesome. I really appreciate their holistic approach to dentistry which makes the entire experience feel much more human. The office is never pushy about their recommendations and yet they still take care and consideration when following up. They provide a great balance making you feeling remembered, but also not pressured. Their approach to dentistry has changed my past negative views on the entire dental experience. read more

As someone that has suffered for decades with extreme dental anxiety, I cannot say enough amazing things about Blodgett Dental. In addition to my lack of financial resources, when I was a teen I experienced major dental trauma that prevented me from seeking routine dental care for most of my 20s and 30s. In the last few years I qualified for Medicaid and knew I had to face the fact that my mouth needed some serious TLC. I made the mistake of going to a regular dentist that was covered by OHP who in turn made my dental health worse. After my dentist killed one of my teeth removing an old amalgam I had to pay for a root canal(not covered by OHP) that i really didn't want to get because I know how bad root canals are for you, but I had just lost another tooth during a cavitation surgery and didn't want to lose another. He broke my tooth during root canal, so I lost the damn tooth anyways. When he pulled the broken dead tooth, he ripped open my sinus cavity which lead to a seriously raging sinus infection that I couldn't get rid of for over 4 months. That's when I finally said, I don't care how much it costs, I will find some way to pay for biological dental care and never go back. Thankfully I live in the same city as one of the most sought after biological dentist in the country, Dr. Blodgett. While the initial consult fee was painfully astronomical, I seriously cannot say enough good things about my time in this office. Literally everyone from the front desk, to the hygienist, to the dentist, to the sweet lady that checks you out after your visit. They are all so nice. So professional. So knowledgeable. I still experience a lot of anxiety going into the office. I don't know if I ever won't have anxiety going to the dentist, but I have so much peace of mind knowing that I am in the best of hands when it comes to my dental health. I was devastated to hear a few weeks ago that they there is a dental hygienist shortage in the country(?!) and they have had to close their practice for routine dental care. They will still do fillings, crowns, implants, surgeries, etc. but no routine cleanings and X-rays. This is a HUGE bummer. Not only because I've invested so much money-as a patient that lives on snap benefits and Medicaid-but also as someone with extreme dental anxiety and feels so embarrassed having new people look in my mouth. I really can't stand the idea of having to start over with a new dental clinic. I hope I never need another filling or crown. I do need several dental implants, but don't currently have the resources to pay for them. When I do, I will only be getting them with Dr. Blodgett. read more

Dr. Neisch is the most detail-oriented, perfectionist dentist I've visited (believe me, I'm 66 and after SEVERAL implants and several doctors laters), he's the best I've had. In 2012 both my husband & I had work done by Dr. Blodgett. While Dr. Blodgett is a very nice man with a wonderful 'chair side manner', the quality of his work is subpar. Since then both my husband and I have had to have the work he performed, including a root canal, redone. When the first problem happened, my husband contacted Dr. Blodgett and he gladly addressed the issue. However my husband continued to have a problem with tooth and I also had a problem arise in the work he had done as well. This led me to suspect there might be a problem with the quality of work and found another dentist (who is AMAZING btw and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND: Jay Larris Levy DDS). Sure enough, we've both had to have all of the work redone, including my husband's root canal. One of the other things that really disappoints me personally (and I realize this may not matter to everyone) is back in 2012 I was searching for a Holistic Dentist. Using 'holistic' as a keyword search on Yelp is what brought Dr. Blodgett up in the results based on his Yelp bio. From my first visit, I didn't feel he was truly a 'holistic' dentist based on some of the products he was pushing (& I did feel like it was a bit of a sales pitch it get me to buy and use a lot of extra products). I also didn't feel his procedures followed the holistic protocols I'd experienced with holistic dentistry in the past, or in the future with Dr. Levy. So I feel like he misrepresents himself. It's fine if he chooses to not be & follow holistic dentistry philosophy and practices, but he should not claim to do so in his bio. read more

UPDATE: I went in to get a tooth fixed (which had broken when I passed out mid-shower last year), and had great success in fixing my entire smile. Both my hygienist and Dr Blodgett were very helpful, communicative, and gentle. They blocked off an afternoon for me and stayed late. They were amazing! They worked with me even though I am not a Portland local, and had a time crunch. The whole team is amazing; I highly recommend them!! This is by far the best experience I've had at a dentist. My hygienist, Mara, was absolutely wonderful and super gentle. The office itself is clean, beautiful, and well-designed. Dr. Blodgett is kind, accommodating and seems very knowledgeable. I have recently become a patient at Dr. Blodgett's office and from my first phone call to the immediate appointment to my recent surgeries, I am beyond pleased. As a leukemia patient constantly fighting a compromised immune system I am looking for ways to make my health better. I started with another dentist who also specialized in a more holistic way of looking at dentistry and the whole body but knew I needed more. Dr. Blodgett and his staff reviewed my whole health history and started with a very thorough examination including 3D exams. As much as you want to avoid radiation the 3D imagining is necessary to understand what is going on in the mouth and gums. I knew what my issues have been for years but never had the best approach to treatment. Dr. Blodgett was spot on in diagnosing what had been diagnosed before and his treatment plan was also spot on from what advice I had been given from two others in the field. I decided to proceed with treatment which included four teeth removed, pin hole gum rejuvenation, bone grafts for possible future implants (I have two already from past dentists) and temp teeth installed all in one go. I completed this a little less then a week ago with no complications and very little swelling or pain. There had been no need for narcotics (only Advil). Dr. Blodgett contacted me via text (since talking was not possible) at the time to check on me and to give me his number if I had any questions. Today when I had a question about some of the feelings in the gums, Dr. Blodgett responded immediately and assured me all was going as planned. I had also received a call from the office staff as well checking on me after the surgery. The anesthesiologist also gave me his personal contact for any concerns regarding post op issues. Overall, they have been top notch on everything and I am excited to see how well all these treatments increase my overall health. Holistic dentistry is about using the least invasive treatments, looking at the whole body as a whole and making sure dental work is in sync with ones health. Some methods like X-rays and scans are still required in order to diagnose so that one can treat issues that help the health of our entire body. Seriously the best dental experience I've ever had. I used to literally shake in the waiting rooms of my dentists' offices because I knew they were ALWAYS going to find a cavity. So imagine my delight when the team at Blodgett Dental took full panel x-rays and said my teeth looked great (after being told by a previous dentist I needed 3 fillings and 2 crowns). I'm so glad I took a gamble and went out of network for this place. Are they a little more expensive? Sure. But they're a hell of a lot cheaper than getting a bunch of unnecessary dental work done because some greedy dentist wants to bank in on what "insurance covers". It's a difference of ethics and philosophy; this team centers around preservation of the teeth and overall health of the body. A more holistic approach to dentistry is so needed in our broken healthcare system that only seeks to treat symptoms, not problems. Do yourself a favor, and invest in your teeth with people who really care about you and your oral health. read more

"Is it safe?" As the drilling began, that question immediately raced through my mind. "Is it safe?" In my mind's eye, there was Dustin Hoffman squirming in agony, strapped to the dentist chair, searching for a response, any response to a question that he had no answer to...wanting to only stop the drilling and the pain. "Is it safe?" Recalling past experiences with a previous dentist more concerned with his collection of Hawaiian shirts and impending retirement then he was in administering Novocain before he began drilling on my teeth. Remembering an eruption of pain shooting through my nerve and throughout my entire head; an oversight he chuckled away, yet one that eventually lead to a long absence from a dental chair and a overall dislike for dentists and the dental profession. "Is it safe?" The drilling was in earnest now, my mind focusing on the present, on the here and the now. Laid back and helpless, mouth pried open, water, enamel, suction, drills, shots and other shiny metal devices go in and out of my gaping maw. No drugs to take of the edge, just a couple of shots beforehand to eliminate the pain, but doing nothing for my anxious mind. No sedatives, no laughing gas, no medically prescribed Valium. Through it all my mind squarely focused on...Sportcenter? "Is it safe?" Yes, it is safe. It is very safe. Even for those afraid and hesitant, it is safe. Dr. Blodgett and his team of dental professionals are just that... professionals. Throughout my early Monday morning dental ordeal, never did I feel unsafe, never did I have concern for my care and never did I feel an overbearing sense to run. With wireless headphones snuggly in place, and a plasma screen positioned above the dental chair keeping me updated on the day's sporting scores, I felt a calmness and comfort in the procedures taking place in my mouth. Dr. Blodgett has a warm chair side demeanor and a staff of friendly assistants. With a high tech newly remodeled office, you can be confident that the dental services offered are top notch. I started seeing Dr. Blodgett about 4 years ago when I was frustrated with my current denist. When I called, I asked if they needed the history from my previous dentist and they explained that they could find out more about my mouth in 10 minutes than my previous dentist knew. As promissed, within about 10 minutes I knew more about my teeth and my bite than I had learned in the previous 35 years of going to the dentist. The other thing that was evident is that my previous aging denist had not upgraded the technology at his practice. My eyes were opened to how far technology has come with dentistry with Dr. Blodgett. Everything is digital, custom milling on site, etc... I am impressed with his perpective that it isn't just your teeth, but it is your mouth, bite, teeth, gums, toungue that can and do impact your overall health. I now love going to the dentist! Well I wouldn't go that far but flat screen TVs, coffee - this is not your typical dentist. From Jill the sweet receptionist to Barb who makes my teeth nice and shiny everyone here goes out of their way to make going to the dentist a pleasurable experience. Blodgett is truly passionate about what he does. His approach is holistic and he uses state of the art equipment. I will not go back. Dentist is a great salesman, he recommends more than necessary. I went for one issue and walked out the office with a $13,000 estimate. All my crowns are still fine but he likes to put new ones in. He also claims on his website that he is a "holistic dentist" --- when I got there for my cleaning he wanted immediately x-rays and other (3D) scans done. Basically more radiation than necessary but insurance pays, right? These 3D scans are extreme high radiation. How can he call himself a holistic dentist? Front desk is extremely rude and received bills later even though I was told I was covered and that my insurance was accepted. read more

The process has been a lot less painful and stressful than expected. Nice staff, but I waited for 45 minutes in the waiting room when they finally brought me back into a room and then I waited an additional 10 minutes. They did not have my dental records ready, and they seemed a bit disorganized and unprepared. They also were planning on taking x-rays right away, which surprised me because I thought that it was a holistic practice. I had x-rays done the year before with another dentist. It was at that point that I decided that a 55 minute wait could not lead to anything better. I didn't even get a chance to meet Mr. Blodgett. read more

Typically, I do not trusts dentists. Blodgett was wonderful! My husband came back from his initial consultation and was raving about them. I recently took my 4 year old son to Blogdett for a routine cleaning. He saw Maggie who was absolutely wonderful. My son had such a good experience and now says he loves the dentist. She was so patient and kind, explaining all her tools and everything she was doing. I also appreciated that they don't push unnecessary X-rays or fluoride. Front desk staff was also super friendly and patient with me as I tried to book appointments while corralling multiple kids. So thankful for Dr. Blodgett and his team! Found Dr. B when looking for alternatives to a root canal. He talked me through the whole process of getting a dental implant and crown, his team helped me with financing options, and everyone made sure to make me feel at ease seeing as dental work makes me anxious. Ok...I am the biggest chicken ever to go to a dentist....Not anymore! I had my only fillings (3) in my teeth as a high schooler......now, more than 40 years later, I want the amalgam (unsafe metal!) out, and replaced w/the new "safe" resin fillings.....Everyone was WONDERFUL! No pain...and.....O'miGosh...Dr B remembered my name through-out the procedure......*I looked and did'nt see my name posted on a piece of paper anywhere! LOL...He actually remembered who he was working on! I tell everyone how wonderful it is at Blodgett's Dental Care! I would never even think of going anywhere else, and I live in The Dalles! Dr. Blodgett and his team are wonderful! Simply put, he is gentle, funny, informative and VERY patient (I am incredibly squeamish and need breaks often). I'm sure I look like a "deer caught in headlights" while at the Dentist (having had negative experiences before it's taken me 12 years to even GO to the Dentist again) yet he and his assistant Karen have gone above and beyond each time I arrive to make me feel comfortable. He uses all of the latest/greatest tools which has made each procedure better than I thought possible. I have a fair amount of work that needs to be done, and due to health issues and limited energy he lets me move at a turtles pace in completing it all, without being pushy in any way. I thrive off of positive feedback, and short of giving me a "gold star" at the end of my appointment, he makes sure I know that "I did great!" which just makes it even better. :) If you have any anxiety at all about going to the Dentist again, I would without any hesitation suggest Dr. Blodgett. He gives off a great sense of security and skill, combined with the soothing environment and staff, it really doesn't get any better. read more

Best dentist Ive been to. They actually care more about whats best for the patients rather than what might make them the most money. In general, going to the dentist is just about my least favorite thing to do, but going here really isn't so bad. I took my son to Dr. Blodgett for his first dental visit. His entire staff made it such a positive experience for us. I was really impressed by the thorough exam from Dr. Blodgett and the time he took to chat with both my son and me about how to best take care of his teeth. He even took the time to take a photograph of his back teeth and blew it up on the big screen so he could really see and understand what was happening in his mouth. The whole experience was so great...from easy, free parking adjacent to the building to the nice and immaculately clean office to the super-friendly staff and most importantly, the very comprehensive care. I had no intention of switching from my current dentist, but after this outstanding experience, I left my son's visit having made myself an appointment with Dr. Blodgett! read more

I had my teeth cleaned twice at Dr. Blodgett's office. Although the office space is nice and Mara did a very thorough cleaning both times, I decided not to return because I felt that Dr. Blodgett's "holisitic" approach was more hype and marketing aimed at generating revenue than true holistic care. (For instance, they did a scan of my hand, which was followed up by an email hocking supplements. I think a much more detailed understanding of a person's current health status should be undertaken before recommending supplements.) Also, Dr. Blodgett didn't stop by to check out my teeth after my second cleaning. Maybe that was because I was informed (via a swab test done during my first visit) that it was "not possible for cavities to form in my mouth." Even if that were true, I would still like my dentist to take a couple of minutes to look inside my mouth every six months to, at a minimum, assess gum health. read more

I did a whole lot of research before I came to see Dr Blodgett. My two front crowns needed to be replaced. I had a terrible experience with my first set of crowns with a previous dentist, and I knew that I can't afford to replace them every day. I needed someone who knew what he was doing , and cared enough not to let  me walk out with an awful smile. The first appointment was almost two hours. We had a consultation with the doctor. He wanted to hear my expectations and my goals. Never  pushy about anything he gave me all the options starting with what would be the best in a long run, ending with what would be a quicker fix. All I have to say Dr Blodgett is a perfectionist. He has a vision, and he will not be satisfied with his work until both of you are happy. He is also the most high tech dentist I have ever met. I'm terrible about writing reviews, but after my experience I felt that I must let other people know. The only way I would be happier with my front teeth  if a new set of real ones would miraculously grow back. He did amazing!   Since I do live in Beaverton the location is not convenient for me at all. Besides, I hate driving on highways. Regardless though, I can not see myself going to see any other dentist. Thanks to Dr Blodgett and his wonderful team! read more

I have had some distinct bad experiences with poor dental work. That is all history since we found Dr. Blodgett. Did you ever have a crown that did not fit right? Maybe an edge that was a trap for decay? How about too much gap between it and the next tooth? I hated those! Not anymore with Dr. Blodgett. We are talking high tech and digital here. He cleans it off and scans it just the way it needs to be. The scan gets the tooth on each side and all the little contours of each shape. Then he digitally models how the crown will be machined to match up with the space between the other teeth. Awesome. Now the resin blank is machined in the office and the fit is checked right then. Any additional work required to make sure it fits PERFECTLY is done and then cooked with just the right color of white to match your other teeth. What is not to like here? Dr. Blodgett does the whole thing in his office in one visit. No temporary. No bad fit. No whiter than white. No off bite. Did I mention perfect? That is the word I use. I just recently started seeing Dr. Blodgett for my dental care after not being happy with my previous dentist. I had an injury as a child breaking my front tooth. Since then I have had a crown on that tooth. Over the years I've had it replaced but the last time I had it replaced it looked terrible. The color was off, the shape did not match my other teeth, and in the process of getting the crown the two teeth next to the crown got chipped. The fix to those were so obvious it left me very self conscious. I lived with that for a few years and thought this was as good as it gets. Then I met Dr. Blodgett. He didn't have to know about my history to see that there was some work to be done. He made me feel like I could get the smile I've been wanting and then some. And was he right. After only a few appointments I have the teeth I've been wanting. He has the latest technology to really make the difference and his skill and eye for perfection is truely a gift.
