I had my chimney cleaned and serviced by Blodgett's and I was extremely happy with their service. John, the technician was on time and a very professional and friendly. I explain that I had my chimney cleaned a few weeks ago but still had some problems with smoke coming back into the house. He took a look at my chimney and told me it was a very well-built fireplace and explain the difference between a real wood burning fireplace and a gas insertion fireplace that most new builds have these days. He got on the roof and did a great inspection and clean my chimney again. The other company didn't even get on my roof. He then explained to me even though I have a gas starter that this was indeed a wood-burning fireplace. He cleaned out the fake stones and sand and place the fire wood holder to the very back of the fire place. He then proceeded to explain about the gas line and how it worked and started a fire for me and made me comfortable with using my fireplace again. I had Mark from Blodgett's out yesterday to clean both my heaters and all fifteen vent registers. Mark arrived promptly at 0900hrs. He immediately got to work. Mark was very thorough and efficient. The repair person came to my house and would only clean the dryer duct from outside my house. He told me he took care of the problem and that the dryer does not need to be examined because lint does not accumulate inside the dryer mechanism. He would not even check the duct from the dryer to the wall--he did not want to move the dryer. One month later, my dryer caught on fire. The Whirlpool Factory service people came and found that the dryer was filled with lint, which caught on fire (they took it apart). The duct from the dryer to the wall was also completely filled with lint. read more

Not reliable. Made an appointment for a Thursday to have our chimney cleaned so that we can use our fireplace over the weekend but no one showed up. We had to call the business (instead of getting a courtesy call from them) to find out why they didn't show up. They came up with an excuse that was unbelievable. I called and scheduled an appointment back in December of 2013 to have my Air Ducts cleaned. Unfortunately, I had to cancel and reschedule. The wonderful gal who originally took the appointment said she'd follow up with me in January. Heck, I had forgotten, but she didn't! She called me and we scheduled the appointment. I joined Yelp specifically to write this review. I had my air ducts/vents (14), dryer vent, chimney/fireplace, and first level and stairs carpets cleaned last week. I work from home and had a couple of conference calls throughout the day. I could not believe with all that work and equipment, I hardly knew Jeff was here. Jeff was extremely professional, courteous, tidy and just an overall nice guy that did a great job! I was completely comfortable with him in the house all day. I will definitely use them again and highly recommend. My only improvement recommendation is for the office staff. One of the girls did not introduce herself or the company when I called and/or when she called me and it was a bit awkward. Donna did however on the day of the cleaning and she was quite courteous and professional. This small phone service issue had no impact on my recommendation because it had no real impact on the service, but just a small professional recommendation for the company. read more

Debbie and Jeff coordinated and scheduled our service perfectly! I had two wood burning stoves cleaned out and repaired in a very short period of time. Jeff was very thorough and very clean! Their prices were better than fair and I referred them to all of my family, in fact they were able to squeeze in my brother-in-law that lived right up the street within a hour. I contacted this company to repair our gas fireplace which had holes in the flexline. They were able to get a technician out in a couple of days, on a Sunday in fact, and replace with a new log lighter. I was really appreciative because most of the other places I had called weren't able to come out until after the New Year, so I am really happy to have our fireplace in working order for Christmas and New Years. He also made time to clean the chimney while he was here, so overall I'm very happy with the service they provided and how promptly they were able to come out. The tech also gave us some good advice regarding getting a fireback for our fireplace since we use wood logs, to prevent our chimney from getting heat damage. I went to Yelp hoping to find a good company to clean out air ducts at our home. It was really necessary after the Holy Fire. Called the office and made an appointment with Debbie. She worked with my schedule and said that Mark would be out between 9 and 10. We'll he was right there at 9:00 ready to go. I showed him all the vents and he told me it would take about 2 to 3 hours max. He was very professional and did a great job. Minimal clean up. Oh, if only there were negative star ratings! I had Blodgett's come out to clean my chimney. A very young man (early 20s, maybe) arrived. I had never used a chimney sweep and didn't know what to expect. He started by laying down a tarp in front of the fireplace, and started vacuuming. Almost immediately, the vac bag broke and soot went spewing all over the house. The guy didn't realize it for a few minutes (he's got earplugs and he's looking forward; the vac's behind him). This created a colossal mess throughout the family room, living room kitchen, entry and office. The guy offered a patheic $20 discount. I called Blodgett's office. The lady (owner's wife) said that they would pay to clean it up, and take it out of the kid's pay. I thought this was horrible! Their website says they're licensed, bonded & insured, so their insurance should pay for it. Probably didn't want to make a claim that would make their rates go up. I'm a sap and felt sorry for the kid. Just told him to leave. My wife and I spent the next several days mopping soot off the walls (words I never thought I'd string together). Bottom line: Blodgett sent a rookie, an accident happened and we had to clean up a mess. I later had Busy Bee come out. Mark is a real pro. Use them. Learn from my misfortune. read more

We just bought and moved into a town home and also purchased a new washer and dryer, but the dryer was taking nearly three hours to dry one load. After doing research and calling the manufacturer of the dryer, it seemed like the dryer vent was blocked, but we weren't able to clean it ourselves because it ran up the wall, across the ceiling, and, then, up through the roof of the garage. Such a crazy design that makes no sense! I found Blodgett's on Google, called them up, they quoted me a very reasonable price over the phone, and they were able to accommodate me by coming out on a Saturday morning. Matt O. was very knowledgeable and really did a great job cleaning out our wacky dryer vent. He was very thorough and found the big gob of lint stuck in one section of the vent that was causing our blockage, and now the dryer works like it should. Thanks, Matt!
