If you buy a house and get a standard property inspection, it is probably worthless since the people doing them do not have a clue and any problem you could detect on your own if you look hard enough. After finding this out, I questioned everything in mine. Therefore I had to get the chimney properly inspected and cleaned. A friend recommended Blodgett's Chimney Sweep. The guy that come out was friendly. Completed the sweeping and inspected the chimney and firebox. He also recommended some improvements for use and maintenance. Overall it took around an hour. There was no bullshit with upselling or pressuring into needing extras services. Price was $80 for my chimney and remember there is a $10 off coupon on there website. Only down side, I thought they would be using a camera to thoroughly inspect entire chimney but no big deal. Overall pretty happy with there service. read more

We used their service for Chimney Sweep and Air Duct cleaning on Saturday. I told them I got a quote from other companies that do Air Duct cleaning that have a lot of other add-on fees. They told me straight out that they don't charge any of that, and they only charge per air vent you have! I got a quote from other 2 other companies and Blodgett's were the cheapest and the honest one! :) The guy Jeff came on Saturday morning and took care of the air vent and chimney in about 3.5 hours. Okay. We have been happy customers of Jerry Blodgett and his crews for over 2 decades, yup, for more than 20 years since we lived in the OC. We had carpet cleaning done regularly and were always happy with the results and pricing. We also had chimney sweeping and repairs done which were also done well and priced fairly. We moved to Temecula recently and I call the local folks when they have strong reviews. This time the company I called for air duct cleaning gave me a price that made my wallet cry so I thought, "Hey, Blodgett's is in the Inland Empire, too, not just OC!" I called them up and sure enough, $100 cheaper than the other guys! Plus, Jeff and Matt did a great job. I won't need my heating and A/C ducts cleaned very often but I'd hire the guys from Blodgett's again in a heartbeat. The entire process took about 2 and a half hours from start to finish and we don't have that "burnt dust" smell blowing out of our registers when the heater kicks on. I will probably call them again for carpet cleaning when that time comes, and if I had a wood burning fireplace I'd use them for that too. read more

I had a bird in my chimney and the poor thing was flapping like crazy. It too me a few days to figure out where the noise was coming from. A few people answered my email requests with how much and wanted my address to come now. Debbie answered with "call my office and we can discuss ways to help you get the bird out. She did but I didn't feel I wanted to reach inside and grab the bird. We set up an appointment working around my schedule and Matt showed up. What a gem he is. He said most of the time the bird is dead but in our case it was alive. He was patient and spent a long time getting it out safely and while petting the poor thing he took it outside and gave it water and I found some grains to feed it. It eventually flew into my ferns. My review on Blodgett's Cleaning Services; I'll begin by saying I'm not prone to blathering on about companies I do business with. In the digital age, many businesses go out of their way to ask you to post reviews on Yelp, Google etc....Blodgett's did not ask, so here it is; Jeff worked around my schedule which made this an evening job, surely more challenging on a 30 foot roof doing our chimney in the dark! I was running late with my child at the Optometrist, Jeff waited patiently in front of my house. He asked me the state of my chimney and pointed out the black smoke stains on my brick. He then went straight to work, taking extra care to cover our furniture and carpets near the fireplace, he carefully sealed the Flue and doors and got busy. When he finished, he made a point to explain what repairs I should consider, but didn't "hard-sell" whatsoever, it was like having a friend tell me "you may want to address this when it's in your budget" which matters to us as I'm on disability so frugality is necessary. While on the roof, he noted our chimney cover had "melted" and was 50% closed, which is why smoke was backing up in our home. He tweaked it back into shape. He also let us know a huge Pine tree was growing very close to the chimney and posed a fire hazard Our fireplace looked like we just installed it when he was done, absolutely spotless! I can't say enough about Jeff's professionalism and work ethic, just a charming young man who takes pride in his job. I forgot to mention they have the best prices in the county and stick to their quote...I will be using them again when it's time to do our ducts and dryer vents.
