After we had the dryer vent cleaned by a different company, the "vent sensor" on my dryer kept coming on. So I had Blodgett's come out and do another clean. The guy that came out told us that someone (probably the last company) pushed the dryer too far back and squished the vent tube. This company is honest and top notch! It was extremely cold this past winter so I was using my fireplace a lot. Every time I would open up the flue, black particles would fall down on top of the beautiful glass I have in the fireplace. The previous owner had burned wood in the fireplace and I only use gas now. I needed the chimney cleaned and a topper installed to keep the critters out. I also wanted to have my ducts cleaned out since I hadn't had that done since I moved in over 12 years ago. I received an estimate from another company on Yelp prior to Blodgett's and Blodgett's came in way under the first estimate plus they didn't charge me extra for the exhaust fans which isn't considered a duct but the other company would've charged me for. Jeff arrived a little late due to traffic but once he arrived he was quick to clean out the ducts and chimney and installed the chimney cap at a reasonable price. He even vacuumed the glass pieces in my fireplace and it sparkly and looks brand new! The other company wanted to take out all the glass and replace it. Blodgett's also cleans out dryer vent filters but I had that done a month before with another company or I would've had them do that too! Jeff was professional and honest. Beware! They claim to be family owned. When Jon did my ducts last summer it was very hot, in the 100's. He left the air on and I asked was that ok, he said yes. When you look up the proper way to clean air ducts, it states the air conditioner should NOT be ON when cleaning the air ducts. When left on, it just blows the dust everywhere. He also only cleaned the vents where you can visibly see the inside. I chose to reach into the FLOOR VENTS to see if the vents were thoroughly clean and they were filthy. I complained about it and they agreed they would redo the air ducts and vent cleanging. I agreed, until the email confirmation showed the date to redo the vents, had comments that read, " brake air ducts"! I called and asked what it meant, and they said, that wasn't suppose to be in the email...HELLO??? It appears they were going to "brake my air ducts," !! They just forgot to delete it from the email. Of course i cancelled and asked for a partial refund and they told me they would have to speak to the owners. To date, i have yet to hear or receive a refund. I have since then filed a complaint. Waiting to hear from the Gov't agency about this crooked company. Debbie the sole call owner replied to my yelp review, but not here where it can be seen by consumers or the GOV'T. What a pathetic COMPANY! NOW DEBBIE knows who I am. In her first response she didn't know who I was. She responds after I made the necessary corrections! Consumers just pay attention, after they clean your vents, pay attention to not just what you can see when looking into the venta, but look at the inside within 5 inches into the vents, if you wipe, they are filthy with pincher bugs! read more

After having my fireplace boarded up for over a year I decided to have it cleaned. Last time I used it the smoke was coming into the room and not up the fireplace. I could smell something coming from inside the fireplace even with it being boarded up which was also bad. I called Blodgetts because it was the #2 option here on Yelp. In all honesty I called the #1 option (A Quality Chimney Sweep) first but his voicemail stated he was booked until February - sorry nope not waiting. A nice lady answered for Blodgetts however and got me the next available appointment which was on December 24th. Like others have said they text you the day before to remind you about your appointment and then on the day of you get another text message stating your tech is on the way and what that persons name is. The window for my appointment was between 9-10am and Matt was there by 9:30am. My husband observed the process with Matt and felt he did a great job. The smell from the fireplace turned out to be a dead mouse. Matt also had pointers for us - cap the gas line if we were not using it (we only used wood) just in case we accidentally turned it on without noticing and filled the house with gas. He also suggested we handle the outside plaster top part which was in poor condition but was not in dire condition. He was honest in saying it was something that could wait but we should t wait forever. He gave us a quote in case we wanted his company to fix it on a different day but did so in an informative and not pushy fashion. I also want to note amazing niceness and customer service. My husband payed with his credit card which was compromised that night. So we had to cancel the card immediately. We did not see that the payment had posted and did not through that holiday weekend. Monday I called the company to explain the situation and to tell them we had to pay another way. The lady on the phone was so nice about it! She explained they don't even process pay until Wednesday which is why it had not posted but that also since I told her she would make a note on our receipt not to run the card and to expect the other form of payment. I have rental houses, so it's good to have a reliable company that is polite to my tenants, communicates well, and does the job without trying to upsell me and turn small tasks into big "federal projects." So long story short, we had bought a bee wash/dryer tower and it wasn't drying would say the vent is clogged so called for service and was able to schedule the next day. I am so very happy that I called because not only was our vent closed(building issue) they were able to fix it and clean the vent all from the outside which was awesome. This was my last option and I was gonna return the wash but I was so happy and shocked as well that the vent was closed the entire time since this building. We have a town house and very big safety hazard/ fire too. Was in a need of finding someone to take a look at my fireplace, called around 3 other businesses before calling Blodgett. Would have saved plenty of time if I had called them first. The other companies were either too busy, doesn't want to work on weekends or very pricey just to do an inspection (i'm talking about 200 bucks just to visit). With Blodgett, the inspector came during the weekend, clean the fireplace, and was respectful at the property for a great rate. Blodgett's was one of the first businesses to respond to my request. I had submitted a request on Sunday night and Jon was scheduled to arrive between 9 am and 10 am the next morning to clean our dryer vent. We have a long vent run with a few weird angles, the Vent run apparently goes down in our foundation and then comes out on the side of our house. Other vent cleaners have broken their brushes trying to clean it. Jon arrived on time and was able to clean the run and check all the connections for a very reasonable price. The previous homeowners had added some janky landscaping bricks in the back of the fireplace and John removed them and added a firewall and painted the inside of the fireplace.
