This company is honest and top notch! It was extremely cold this past winter so I was using my fireplace a lot. Every time I would open up the flue, black particles would fall down on top of the beautiful glass I have in the fireplace. The previous owner had burned wood in the fireplace and I only use gas now. I needed the chimney cleaned and a topper installed to keep the critters out. I also wanted to have my ducts cleaned out since I hadn't had that done since I moved in over 12 years ago. I received an estimate from another company on Yelp prior to Blodgett's and Blodgett's came in way under the first estimate plus they didn't charge me extra for the exhaust fans which isn't considered a duct but the other company would've charged me for. Jeff arrived a little late due to traffic but once he arrived he was quick to clean out the ducts and chimney and installed the chimney cap at a reasonable price. He even vacuumed the glass pieces in my fireplace and it sparkly and looks brand new! The other company wanted to take out all the glass and replace it. After having my fireplace boarded up for over a year I decided to have it cleaned. Last time I used it the smoke was coming into the room and not up the fireplace. I could smell something coming from inside the fireplace even with it being boarded up which was also bad. I called Blodgetts because it was the #2 option here on Yelp. In all honesty I called the #1 option (A Quality Chimney Sweep) first but his voicemail stated he was booked until February - sorry nope not waiting. A nice lady answered for Blodgetts however and got me the next available appointment which was on December 24th. Like others have said they text you the day before to remind you about your appointment and then on the day of you get another text message stating your tech is on the way and what that persons name is. The window for my appointment was between 9-10am and Matt was there by 9:30am. My husband observed the process with Matt and felt he did a great job. The smell from the fireplace turned out to be a dead mouse. Matt also had pointers for us - cap the gas line if we were not using it (we only used wood) just in case we accidentally turned it on without noticing and filled the house with gas. He also suggested we handle the outside plaster top part which was in poor condition but was not in dire condition. He was honest in saying it was something that could wait but we should t wait forever. He gave us a quote in case we wanted his company to fix it on a different day but did so in an informative and not pushy fashion. I also want to note amazing niceness and customer service. My husband payed with his credit card which was compromised that night. So we had to cancel the card immediately. We did not see that the payment had posted and did not through that holiday weekend. Monday I called the company to explain the situation and to tell them we had to pay another way. The lady on the phone was so nice about it! She explained they don't even process pay until Wednesday which is why it had not posted but that also since I told her she would make a note on our receipt not to run the card and to expect the other form of payment. So long story short, we had bought a bee wash/dryer tower and it wasn't drying would say the vent is clogged so called for service and was able to schedule the next day. I am so very happy that I called because not only was our vent closed(building issue) they were able to fix it and clean the vent all from the outside which was awesome. This was my last option and I was gonna return the wash but I was so happy and shocked as well that the vent was closed the entire time since this building. We have a town house and very big safety hazard/ fire too. I had submitted a request on Sunday night and Jon was scheduled to arrive between 9 am and 10 am the next morning to clean our dryer vent. We have a long vent run with a few weird angles, the Vent run apparently goes down in our foundation and then comes out on the side of our house. Other vent cleaners have broken their brushes trying to clean it. Jon arrived on time and was able to clean the run and check all the connections for a very reasonable price. Did pre research and was informed that a brush method would be used to clean my air ducts. Price was right so I scheduled. Tech was nice however ducts were only cleaned at the base (registries) and some of the ducts were cleaned a foot into the air duct only. No brush was used and ducts still filthy. I can't imagine how filthy deep into the air ducts is. One of the registries was not touched and is caked with dirt. They may do a great job chimney cleaning however duct cleaning is not their thing. Use at your own discretion. I sent them a message informing them that one of the ducts was still filthy and they advised they would see what their schedule was like. I requested a service to clean out a new home I'm about to move into. I reached out to Blodgetts and got in contact with Debbie. She was quick to respond requesting how many vents and what was needed. I responded with what services I needed, vents, chimney, dryer vent. and she provided an estimate for a "Full service" we agreed for $450. On the day of service, Job and his coworker showed up to the house to start the service and looked around the house either me and confirmed they would be doing the "Full Service" job they got from their boss: Debbie. I agreed and they got started to work. There was never anything stated that the price would change, Debbie did not call me to tell me it would go up in price for the service. Once John had completed the service, his helper provided me the invoice and total was $720.00. Looking at that amount, I was very confused why the amount was different and showed them what I was quoted by Debbie. After they read the messages I had with Debbie, they were also confused and agreed " this looks very misleading" . They returned to their van and contacted Debbie to figure out why the amount was $300 MORE than quoted. Debbie called me directly and didn't understand how this was misleading. I let her know I got one price amount from her for $450 for all the vents, dryer vent and chimney. She stated she didn't include dryer vent in the pricing or the chimney cleaning. This confused me more since I specifically gave her the service I needed and asked for a quote to those needs. I do not understand how as a business owner, Debbie could not take accountability for misleading me to believe it was going to be $450 and there was never a higher amount stated even once her guys started service. After going back and forth with Debbie she stated I could just pay what I was quoted and she would "figure out how to pay her guys" as if this was my fault. I let her know I would pay the full service because of how professional John and his helper were and but I will never do business with Blodgetts Cleaning due to their misleading in pricing and professionalism from the business owner Debbie. As far as John and his helper, they were professional and very good at their job. Debbie knew she quoted me $450, She did not think it was necessary to confirm with her customer of the new total before starting the service.
