I recently had a small fire in my dryer. We generally empty the lint tray after each use. A few months ago I cleaned it with my shop vac but the lint underneath had built up. After smelling something burning after using the dryer I called a repair person to check it out. The lint underneath caught fire but luckily and thankfully it smothered out. He explained I was using the wrong type of filter and they gave me a suitable filter. He went above and beyond and even tried to troubleshoot our dryer. (He confirmed it was broken.)
