Do NOT get a haircut here. Don't do it. You are literally better off cutting your own hair; even if it looks terrible, at least you didn't pay someone to make it look terrible. They ignored my reference picture, which was annoying, but I could have lived with it. They gave me short little wispy bangs, when I asked for curtain bangs, and I would have pinned them to the side and kept on going. What makes this the worst salon experience I've ever had is that they cut one half of my head at least half an inch shorter than the right. It is noticeably crooked, in addition to being way shorter than I requested overall, making it impossible for me to even put it up until it grows out. If you reach out to get assistance, you'll be a priority in 72 hours. Until then, they're super duper sorry that you're sad, but that sorry doesn't translate into any actual concrete assistance. 74 hours later...I contacted customer service again. I had to simultaneously chat with two agents and speak to one on the phone (in addition to at least two agents abandoning the chat) before I could speak to a supervisor who explained that I was such a priority, and she understood my concerns, but they couldn't do anything for me because the store wasn't responding to the concerns that had been brought to them. I should have known when I walked in and saw 7000 employees, all hanging out and chatting and not a single one to help a customer that this was not the place to go. I spend so much money on their website, and I guess I'll be switching to Sephora because Ulta could not care less about their customers. They aren't even making a financially sound decision in refusing to speak to me because my haircut cost $47, but I spend (without including the salon) close to $2500 at Ulta each year. So, that means that not only is the customer service bad, but their understanding of how math works sucks too. read more

So this is not my go to location by any means. It's just a location that had 5 various items available in store to see before buying. I do not like this shopping mall that it is in-the parking is just an absolute nightmare to get in and out of so I avoid it if at all possible. But today when I went in they had not a single item I was there to see. And the staff tried to say they didn't have this items in that location but I showed them that they should and there really wasn't much of an apology made. More of a *shrug‍* I also had a return and there was an issue with it as well. Took two people to figure it out. So no I can't say I recommend this location and will avoid it in future if at all possible. There are definitely worse locations in the metro area but this one is by no means "good" read more

I have nothing but great things to say about Nesha White. She has been working as a hair stylist for about 30 years but has only been at this ulta for 3 months. She is SUPREME. I am normally used to spending as close to zero dollars as possible on a haircut, but I decided to splurge a little and try out ulta who might give me a more stylized haircut that would help with my thin/flat hair frustrations. I LOVE Nesha. I called same day and she booked me for a haircut and my friend for a blowout. She listened to my concerns I showed her a picture of what I wanted and she was like "oh for SURE" and just did her thing, dry cut (that's how you know she's a pro). I probably had about 10 inches I wanted to cut off and she just went IN. She was so much fun telling stories and laughing and including my friend. But she never sacrificed the execution. I wish I had a before and after, but I just have an after photo. I asked her for something that would be super low maintenance but still be voluminous and bouncy and she was like "the way I do layers, you'll be able to just shake and go. Don't worry!" And she's so right. I went to bed and woke up this morning and I like the hair EVEN MORE than when it was styled which I still loved too. It bounces around, it's got so much life and body to it. Before I just tied my hair up all the time and now I know I'm gonna have it down constantly because my hair is so nice!! I just know Nesha is the best best best. She will take a long time with you but it's so worth it. She does not rush the process. 10/10 would recommend, can't imagine having someone else cut my hair now, THANKS! read more

Not only is it obvious that she loves her job and is great with people but she was so warm, welcoming, knowledgeable, funny, accommodating, and a heck of a hairstylist. She gave me great recommendations for my hair type, and was so supportive in making me feel my best. She truly is one of one. My daughter and I entered the shop around 7:10 pm. She needed new foundation. We walked around, but really needed help. No one greeted or approached us. We finally found a sales associate and told her what we needed. She said that "she needed to get the manager." She came back and stated that since they were only open for another 45 minutes they couldn't do a color match. What?! It should only take about 10 minutes to color match. My daughter previously worked in JC Penney beauty where we lived before moving to Atlanta. Her manager would have disciplined her for not waiting on a customer with 45 minutes left in the shift. I was in drab and wanted to get some new makeup and improve the quality of makeup so I went into Ulta. I wandered around for a few minutes when the lovely Lisa asked if I was looking for something. Getting right to the point I said yes foundation. She asked about brand choice and I asked for her recommendation. She sat me down in the chair and pulled out a shade she thought worked. In the mirror on the side I could check it out and we tried a darker shade which I liked. Anything else and same process for blush and bronzer. The only reason why I didn't leave a one star is because ONE lovely girl who actually asked if I needed help.there was a lady fixing the colour pop stand that I didn't even know she worked there since she ignored and didn't acknowledge me at all. I asked her a if she had a certain color in stock and she looked at her cart and said no I don't have it and turned around. Once I got to the register cashier Faith didn't say hello just started scanning and I said hold on she said you're not ready? I made an appointment for the salon at 4:45 and wasn't seen until 5:45. I still waited because I really needed a haircut. The stylist was very nice. I asked to even out my hair since I cut it myself and it was pretty botched and uneven. She cuts here and there and in the end, I feel like I looked the same and realized my hair was still uneven when I got home. As for the price, I chose the signature haircut that included a deep conditioning and was $10 more than just a haircut. I never got the deep conditioning but was still charged for it. The stylist told me if it was included with the service, it would should up on my receipt. I don't understand why it would say otherwise on the website when I made the appointment but I still paid it. I was hesitant to even come here for a haircut but I had high hopes, although I know i won't come back; at least to this location. read more

Just a comment in Ulta's Salon services. I went into the salon in McDonough GA for highlights. They already charge $155 for highlights and $55 for haircut. The lady was moving extremely slow just pinning my hair to provide the color. Then she proceeds to say... if I don't get this done in 2 1/2 hours the price doubles. So you mean to tell me that it would cost me almost $400 for highlights and cut. I have been to multiple salons and my hair is the same length. I pay no more that $300 for cut and highlights. No one sets a price on a time and how would I be able to control how fast this lady moves because she was SLOW! I feel that was a set up and I didn't take the bait. I told her to take those pins out of my hair and end that now because I would be a fool to pay almost $400 for this at ULTA. Visited this store last week on Thursday April 6 to purchase some makeup. I've been saving point to purchase a Dyson airwrap free of cost. I was just a few points away to being able to purchase it. Four days later my points were used completely. Only left me with 27 points. Customer service gave me the address of where the items where shipped to and the address came back to Atlanta. The girl even mentioned about how many points I had. I just moved here so I don't know anyone here in Atlanta. Hee, Helena's review prompted me to write my own. I SO know what she means with her Ocean's 11 reference . . . This time, I needed headbands. Yes, headbands. I specifically needed to stock up on the cloth kind (thin and thick) that I use when washing my face, or holding my hair back and up when in the bath, or even sleeping. Did I find headbands? Yes. Did I leave with just headbands? No. Ulta is almost as bad as Target (at least Ulta doesn't have food products or furniture!). A few headbands, OPI nail polishes (I mean, I didn't have THOSE colors!), and some bath products later and I managed to get out of there. Service has gone downhill rapidly over the past 6 months. Don't bother welcoming me when I enter the store if you can't do so with a smile or any degree of friendliness. You could even fake it and I wouldn't mind - just take that sour, miserable look off your face, because I came to spend some serious money! Actually, I came for a single item, yet as many other reviewers have noted - this is not an easy place to go for that "just one thing". Firstly the parking sucks, but secondly the store creates these lovely little displays to look at while you're in line (which seems to be longer these days than ever). The little tiny products on the little displays look so innocent and inexpensive that they often jump into my basket. Yet, most of them are trial sizes for the upscale brands, so what looks like a travel-sized mascara will still cost you $10 because its big sister original size is $30. Great in-store marketing and stock positioning, but expect to be served by a cashier who sighs as if you're keeping her from living her life - haven't heard a grown woman give such a dramatic teenager-style sigh for ages. read more

Please save yourself. I should have known better but I thought... how hard is it to trim hair? Just a couple inches. Just to my shoulders. Well, clearly it is very hard. I went to Drew and the second I sat down in the chair, I should have gotten up. Aside, from the cigarette smell and the fact that he had a rat tail (no hair stylist should have a rat tail), he ruined my hair. I asked for shoulder length. He cut my hair well above my shoulders to the point where I can't even put it up. I can't wear my hair natural because it is a giant ball of mess. When he blew it out he made me look like strawberry shortcake with these big ugly curls. He didn't even show me the back with a mirror. I did voice that it was too short but at that point the damage was done and there wasn't anything he could say besides sorry. I didn't yet know the depth of how bad it was. At first, I just noticed how short it was. I went home and my roommate tried to fix it and style it. That's when I realized... how uneven it was (see photos). It was probably because his hands were shaking the whole time while cutting my hair. I called Ulta back and demanded my refund considering now I had to go to an actual salon and pay to get it fixed. The manager said she could not refund me unless I went in and showed her the hair. 1. I am not going back in there 2. I was on the way to my next hair apt. She then offered me a free cut from her. Thanks but no thanks, regardless that it is a different person, I will never risk that again. Also the only way to fix the mess of how uneven it was, was to cut it even shorter. Luckily, the girl did a great job with what she was able to do. (Area 4 Salon- they are good, they are nice, and they won't mess up your hair) Needless to say, the $30 haircut turned into me having to hide my hair in headbands, spend more money to get it fixed, and lots of tears. On top of it all, I had a wedding to attend the week after. I have never felt uglier (not trying to be dramatic). Please Please just save yourself. I can cut your hair better. ANYONE can cut your hair better. If I learned anything, it is that I should have spoken up right away. If you are paying for a service, speak up and don't be apologetic! read more

What a difference a few weeks make. So, I guess I've never had to make a return at Ulta, because I went in to make a return and even though it wasnt enough to make me upset, it showed me that their return policy is not as good as some other places. The general policy is 60 days for a full refund. If after 60 days, you must have a receipt or gift recepit and you will have to then take a store credit. So, I bought a Smashbox lipstick, I told the lady when I tried it on that it looked too orange, and she assured me that it was just the lighting inside the store, well after wearing it for a couple times, I still thought it was too orange. Well....when I originally bought it, you got a free set of travel eyeshadow brush....a retail value of one cent. So, I took the lipstick back ($22), and was informed that since I wasnt returning the brushes, then I could only get a store credit. HUH, so I spent almost $25, but since I didnt bring back a set of USED travel brushes that have no retail value, you essentially get to keep my $25. Well since, I was going to use the credit for something else, I didnt make a fuss, but what kinda policy is that. I mean wouldnt the used brushes have even less value now that I have use them? I did ask the cashier if I should have brought back the used brushes and he stood there and looked at me as if I had asked him if he could just take wings and fly away. So....the store is being renovated....in a MAJOR way, and these renovations seem to be going on while the store is open, but Im sure they do the loud stuff overnight, but the have knocked out walls and moved the salon to the back of the store and its larger than it use to be. I have bought men's cologne from here in the past and if I'm in the area I will stop in and see what they have and to just try out new scents. I know a lot of people complain about the lack of customer service but for me this is one of those stores I don't mind the lack of attention. It's pretty easy to navigate and everything is grouped and organized. I like browsing the fragrances and being left to my own devices. They have a sign that reads, "The Men's Shop at Ulta" but is literally just one aisle and a half of one. There is not even a section dedicated to the men, I'm okay with that, aftershave and cologne is a good selection for a store dedicated to women for the most part. read more

Twice that I have gone in there they didn't know what product I was talking about yet they carry it. 2 stand behind the counter while 1 checks everyone out. This is my first time getting service at Ulta salon, and I absolutely loved it. I had a haircut+style with Sarah, and she did an amazing job. I'm Asian and have been having troubles finding American stylists good with layers, but Sarah surprised me with her great work. Staff there were all helpful and friendly. All products they use are Redken. I'm so glad I can just walk to a salon that knows how to do my hair instead of driving to Buford highway. The staff at this location is very rude and impolite. No "hello" or "can I help you" or anything. I finally was able to "CATCH" one of the workers to ask a question, and the first time she said that she has no idea. Then she asked me to repeat my question again and told me that the online offer also applies to the store and the free gift does come with the in store purchase. Also, I was also looking to try a new mascara, and went to the other side of the store and again, had to track down another worker to ask her about mascaras, and she was also very rude and she just turned and gave me the next mascara she saw and said "Here. Try this!" At that point I was a little agitated and decided to just pick up a drug store mascara and call it a night. At the check out, AGAIN, I had to go FIND SOMEBODY to help me at 6:30 PM.... and it was that same lady who told me that they do offer free gifts with a curling iron purchase at the store. Guess what? At the checkout, this is what she said: "I didn't say we have that in the store!! No, I don't know where the free gift is." It was as if she was lying to me because she was too lazy to go get the gift. I was so frustrated with her that I just wanted to drop everything and leave. I did make the purchase anyway, but will NEVER be returning to this location ever again. AWFUL staff with a very bad attitude. read more

I've checked multiple times online if something is in stock in the store before making the trip, only to arrive and they are STILL out of what I need. I was told today "the website inventories aren't accurate because they count the tester of the product." How does that make sense? This was my last visit to this store. Zero customer service. The employees at this location aren't available to answer questions and you can expect to be brushed off when you track one down asking for help. There is no sense of urgency to check people out, even when the lines are very long and you can expect an attitude when you turn down applying for their credit card. He still ended up with patchy areas and there is a place where she cut all the hair so it looks like a linear scar. I went to the Buckhead Ulta a little after 6pm on a Wednesday and they were not busy at all. While they did greet me, no one knew anything about the products! I asked a lady to help me find more stock of a Benefits brow pencil and she looked through a couple of drawers and said they were out. I asked her to open one of the drawers again, as I thought I saw it, and of course found a whole stack of the shade I was needing. I grabbed multiples. she never even apologized for the oversight or asked if I needed anything else. Next I asked if a Clinique product was discontinued since I could not find it, and after the 2 sales people looked at each other and shrugged, one asked me if I wasn't able to find it. Then why would I ask? They knew absolutely nothing about the line. Next went to hair products - waited several minutes for help to arrive after the lady called someone over on the radio - she/he never came. One stylist gentleman saw me standing there and came over to ask me if I needed help. He found the product I needed in two seconds. I give 2 stars only for the stylist who left the salon to help me, and the fact that the products I needed were in stock. No one offered to upsell; only offered the stupid credit card that no one wants. Terrible customer service overall and lack of product knowledge by the store associates is unacceptable. they should know how to sell every line. They need to visit the East Cobb store in Marietta for some training. Spent over $200, but I will NEVER visit this location again. read more
