My kids had never had vials of their blood drawn before (they are little = not in school yet) and Bob (the owner/operator) of BloodStatExpress made this the best first experience for them! I'm extremely phobic of needles (especially long drawn out ones like blood draws) and had a doctors order for a time-sensitive blood test in addition to a long list of other blood tests which I was hoping to get done all in one sitting, to avoid having to do this again anytime soon, if possible. With the seemingly never-ending pandemic, all of my sensitivities/fears are heightened and when I recently tried to get some of the blood-work done at my doctor's lab, it was embarrassing (and unsuccessful) because I couldn't stop my body from shaking nor catch my breath to try to calm myself down enough to go through with it (actually the phlebotomist lost my vein too, making it so much worse). After that awful experience, I didn't want to chance walking into another lab where I may not get at least a minimally tolerant, kind & confident phlebotomist. SO, yesterday I emailed Bob at BloodStatExpress to try doing this in the comfort of my own home instead and with someone who might be able to help me through the stressful experience. This was after I saw reviews I felt I could trust that spoke highly of Bob's ability to work with kids and people who have issues with needles. I wasn't expecting to be able to schedule a blood draw for the time-sensitive test in time, but to my great surprise, Bob somehow fit me in for this the next day! He very clearly gave instructions about what he needed from me in advance, quoted me a price in advance, guaranteed he'd be successful (and even said he didn't charge if not successful, which was a major confidence boost btw), gave me a two hour window and even sent me a text reminder when I seemed to forget something! This morning he texted about 30 minutes prior to his arrival. The communication was terrific, easy and thorough. All of this made me feel like I was in good hands before he even got here. When Bob arrived, he was wearing a mask (important to me but I forgot to ask so it was great that I never had to) and he had a friendly, confident and efficient demeanor. All of this helped to set me at ease from moment one (well, as at ease as someone with a needle phobia can be anyway). Also, he didn't talk down to me like a baby or make me feel bad for having a fear of needles. At one point as he was prepping the site with an alcohol pad, my anxiety took over and I stood straight up reflexively. He didn't seem phased by my sudden physical reaction and calmly talked to me without judgement. When I was ready, he just continued casually and before I knew it, he had the vein on the first try and was already collecting blood with ease. I actually need to kinda watch which I know sounds strange for a person with a fear of needles but it somehow helps me when I can see some of what's happening. Bob let me do my quirky thing without any explanations needed. By the way, I noticed the needle was super slim right then too, which probably also helped me stay calmer. I also felt only the tiniest pinch at the very beginning and that was amazing to me because usually it feels so much worse and lasts so much longer (whether real or in my mind!). At some point, though, I think I stopped doing my breathing and he casually reminded me to breathe again, lol, which was much appreciated. I could also see he was changing vials very efficiently out of the corner of my eye and was surprised that I felt nothing at all through about half a dozen vials and right up until he was placing the bandage. This whole process from beginning to end was an unusually GREAT experience for me compared to just about every blood-draw I've ever done before now and this was 100% worth the expense because of it. I'll be calling him again anytime I ever need blood drawn in the future! PS - I know I'm writing this review before the test results are back but I feel very confident that he is just as efficient in delivering the samples as he was in the rest of the process. read more

Also OMGosh I am so so so happy I came across Bob's company, Blood Stat Express Mobile Phlebotomy. I am a very very very very difficult stick when having my blood drawn. It just so happens that Bob has 14 years experience in pediatrics and had no problem drawing blood! My daughter also has been a DIFFICULT STICK since day one but NOT FOR BOB. I'm so happy I found him because it kills to see a phlebotomist poke through her skin and then FISH AROUND for her veins. This will NOT happen WITH BOB. And I don't know what it is but it DOESN'T HURT when he sticks the tiny butterfly needle in my vein. Usually, it definitely pinches but he is SO SMOOTH I honestly felt NO PAIN. I cannot say enough great things about Bob! To begin with, my wife and I had an early morning appointment at 7am, but I later found out that Bob arrived down the street about an hour early at 6am so he could fill out all the forms and blood vials so that he didn't have to bother us with any of that- so thoughtful!
