Caesar salad with a side piece of haddock
    Melanie C.

Food: The food was done well. The fried haddock had a really light and crispy batter. The Caesar salad had a good dressing but it was overly dressed in my opinion-I like that they use local in season veggies like watermelon radishes on the salad. The clam chowder had good flavor but was incredibly thick like a gravy. The smoked trout dip was good. Service: The server overall was fine but didn't check in as she should have. We asked for something to be adjusted and she never checked to see if it had been done correctly-it hadn't. Ambiance: We sat outside which is a nice option the inside looked nice though as well.

First of all our waitress, Rachel, was so sweet! The manager also was nice and comped part of our meal. Unfortunately the positives end there. We ordered the following: Clam chowder - Ok, not great. I thought it was too cheesy. Hush puppies - To us, not good at all. Had corn and onions in them but really had no flavor at all. Asked the waitress to take them back. Crab cakes - Again, not good but edible. Chicken Pot Pie - not good at all. Only ate the crust off the top. The base had an odd flavor and the veggies were crunchy. We had read other reviews for this place and so we were looking forward to a good meal. Highly disappointed.

Crab cakes, green beans, potatoes, hush puppies

I have become a really picky eater but they hit all the points with high praise!!! The crab cakes were made well with lots of fresh crab. The green beans were yummy as were the potatoes. And the hushpuppies were so great that for the first time this Southern girl didn't put butter on them. The sauce was just the right addition. The waitress was nice and the food came out quickly. The ambiance is beautiful

    Wedge salad with shrimp

First time here. The staff was very friendly. I could tell our waitress had her hands full with tables but she managed it well. I ordered the Capt's platter with scallops and fried oysters. Very decent sized portion and tasted good. Had a cup of clam chowder which was different from the white I am used to but still very tasty. I would return again.

    Tough lobster, bland vegetables.

The lobster was a bit tough. The vegetables and corn did not have any seasoning. The butter was bland, didn't know it could be. I would probably not come again. Service was really good though.

The food here was delicious! My companion and I both had the special soup of the day; Manhattan Clam Chowder- which was delicious! It was loaded with veggies & flavored with tons of clams and some bacon! I had the green salad with a crab cake. The salad was loaded with fresh crisp greens, pea pods, julienne carrots, purple cabbage and the FRESHEST crab cake I've ever had! My companion ordered the wedge salad with blackened haddock. He received a very generous portion of fish, and the salad was perfect. We both enjoyed the prompt, efficient service and the chic atmosphere, spare and clean without a bunch of stuff on the walls.

For Staunton, this is a fine seafood joint. We were visiting the area over the weekend and had dinner here one of the nights. It was a mix of fancy restaurant and extremely casual bar. The bar area was full as the Tennessee Alabama game aired on the televisions. Still, we were seated immediately at the bar and were served really well concocted cocktails. The bartenders and servers were knowledgeable and welcoming. Food was decent. They have a list of oysters you can order and samplers if you are feeling that you want your food fried. Obviously, they serve several other seafood options too.

YUM! FIVE STARS + First off, Tracy, is amazing. She knew the menu to-a-T, had great input on our decision making, and was all smiles and high energy the entire time. She should bartend! Great personality. Establishment was very clean, including the bathrooms. Giant menu in two places was incredibly helpful and we loved that it was a rotating menu for fresh surprises daily. Who doesn't love fresh fish!? As a pescatarian, it is hard to find restaurants that actually serve GOOD seafood at a reasonable price--and I live in MARYLAND! I wish this restaurant was local to me! I'd totally be a regular. Food was SO good. Fresh ingredients, cooked exactly the way it should and tasted amazing. Great work, kitchen staff!

123 Wedge Salad with broiled shrimp added. Very good.

The inside reminds me of a Chili's or Ruby Tuesday, but a bit darker. I think it's a nice atmosphere, appropriate for date night, a group, a family, etc. Our server (who has worked here for 3 years) was friendly and efficient. To start, we ordered a bowl of yesterday's soup special (She crab) and a small order of boiled shrimp. The soup was excellent, creamy, and with small pieces of crab throughout. The shrimp (six in the small order) were prepared well and came with a tangy cocktail sauce. The server brought over a loaf of their complimentary bread, which is actually three breads together in a single loaf. The bread was good (I preferred the dark loaf part) and came with a peach butter. We were told that the butters change periodically. The butter had pieces of peach in it (!) and we enjoyed the novelty. Our server mentioned that they also have a pistachio butter and maple butter. Yum. I ordered a salad with the balsamic vinaigrette dressing on the side. The salad itself was good - fresh, with crisp lettuce, tomato, cucumber, apple, almond pieces, etc. Then there was the dressing. Although I mixed the salad dressing in the cup before tasting it, when I did taste it, it was almost all oil with no discernible vinegar or other flavor. I kept stirring and tasting and nothing. So I abandoned the dressing. For entrees, my partner ordered the charbroiled salmon in herb butter with a side of broccoli. The salmon was prepared well and very tasty. I ordered the mahi-mahi, with the sun-dried tomato butter sauce on the side. The mahi-mahi was well prepared and tasty on its own. Honestly, I tasted the sun-dried tomato butter sauce and it was essentially whipped butter. I didn't think it added anything to the entree so I didn't use it. The potato came with butter and sour cream on the side. The potato was very good. Although we were full and not planning on dessert, the server came over with small cups of peppermint ice cream, calling it a "palate cleanser." It was very good and a nice touch. Other than the salad dressing and the sauce for the fish, it was an excellent meal in a nice atmosphere with good service. When we were leaving at around 7:00 pm, the line was out the door.

Grt them if you like ribs. My only regret and it was my own taste buds the bbq sauce needed some heat. My wife had chicken with artichoke hearts and sauce. She said it was tasty and the sauce sublime. Overall, a must dine at historic restaurant in Staunton.

We stopped in Thursday February 5, 2026. The cozy space, complete with a locally painted on the wall, gives it a warm, welcoming feel. In speaking with the matrade we learned the name of the restaurant comes from the Native American word that has become Shenandoah. After 20 years in business it's clear this place has deep local roots. The staff was friendly and attentive. Kyle, our waiter, did a great job and worked seamlessly with his teammates to make the experience memorable. We started with cocktails -- my wife had the Sage Advice and I had a classic Manhattan. Proper cocktails for sure! The crème brûléed cornbread and sweet potato bisque were standout starters. Probably could have stopped eating after those starters...For mains, my wife loved the pork loin and I enjoyed the pan-seared trout. We finished with the banana mousse, which was absolutely amazing! Great food, great service, great atmosphere. Highly recommend if you're passing through Staunton. definitely worth the stop.

The cocktail and mocktails were flavorful and well priced. Our waiter was great. Very knowledgeable about the menu, town and ingredients. We started with the Chicken Liver pate. This was well prepared, although I hate when a restaurant provides an odd number of toasts for two people. We asked for an extra piece and thought it was funny that they gave us exactly one. FYI- it comes with several accoutrements which were tasty, but the mustard was really the most satisfying. My wife had the brisket, which I would call a must have. Fantastic Asian spices, fried rice ball and Kimchi. Just an explosion of flavors. I was glad she shared. (This is uncommon) I had the pork chop and it was really pretty. Unfortunately, it lacked flavor and I had to carve off the fat which made up about 1/3rd of the chop. The bone was the other third...so it turned out to be a thick but modest cut. That said, it was on a lovely bed of mash and some of the best blue and white carrots I ever had. We finished with the carrot cake. (All of the desserts are made onsite.) which we learned was gluten free. Honestly if it was marked GF I wouldn't have ordered it. Anyway, when it arrived I thought we received the wrong thing. It looked like a decorative cliff bar. Once we took a bite we were blown away by the flavors and texture. It was delicious. Such a great experience. We were near the kitchen, so we got to see the head chef get orders out. There were some highs and lows, but the overall experience was really nice.

I ordered a shrimp dish ("Camarones al Gusto") with their Diabla sauce. The sauce was very tasty with a medium level of spiciness and a little tang. My mother ordered their Jalapeño Roll, which was a sushi-styled dish. This is the one negative about our meal: she thought the Jalapeño Roll didn't have enough jalapeños and the flavors weren't strong enough. We split fried ice cream for dessert. They have a wide selection of Mexican beers and tequilas. I ordered a Negra Modelo, followed by a Victoria. All in all, I really liked this restaurant, and I look forward to returning.
