One of the worst dining experiences I've had in the Lake Norman area. From the moment we walked in, there was a strong musty, moldy smell throughout the restaurant. Unfortunately, things didn't improve from there. The service was far below what you'd expect, especially considering the price point. The food was disappointing. The chicken piccata was completely inedible, and the rest of the meal wasn't much better. For what this restaurant charges, I expected quality food and attentive service, but neither delivered. This is the sorriest waste of money I've endured in a minute, and that's with gas prices being what they are. It started with the drinks and barreled downhill from there. We all ordered Sprite. There was something wrong with it. There was a foul flavor that I can only assume comes from a dirty dispenser. Okay, whatever. Sent them back. My kid got a lemonade, same foul flavor. Okay. We got water. It's tap, who cares? The Bang Bang shrimp is actually good but the 3 cheese spinach dip is awful. Took one bite, sent it back. Got calamari instead, it's flavorless and lacks salt. It wasn't rubbery though so... good job there? The kid got chicken tenders and they're also unseasoned and not even Tyson tender quality. They're also greasy because they weren't even drained on a paper towel once out of the fryer. The mashed potatoes taste instant, and the steak of all things was salty as all get out. The waitress was new but extremely kind. The building is nice and the interior is pretty. I decided to give Jeffry's a shot despite the 3.5 rating and im glad i did. I ate at the bar which was 2/3 full on entry. Bar staff was smiling, welcoming and friendly. There were a mix of locals and out of towners (like me), but the staff and crowd made everyone feel welcome. I started with a nicely mixed manhattan and warm pimento cheese and both were on point. Simple grilled filet cooked perfectly to order with gouda and truffle mac hit the spot. Everyone else at the bar was very happy with their dinners as well (osso buco, beef medallions, seared scallops...). First time visit. Fancy interior with gorgeous, colorful paintings. Hostess and waitress were very friendly... and the food was one of the most delicious and perfectly cooked ... Monday special was Southern Fried Chicken with 2 sides for $15. The chicken was boneless and fried and season perfectly. We chose the guoda and truffle macaroni and cheese, which was soooo flavorful and creamy, and mashed potatoes with gravy - yum!! The gravy was sooo good!!! We split it and had a side salad with blue cheese (one of the best tasting blue cheese dressing). We also ordered the Spinach Artichoke dip (not photoed) because it didn't come out before our entree... instead of throwing it away, they kindly packaged it up for us to go (didn't charge us - thank you) and we enjoyed it for dinner... wow!!! We ordered our food, my friend, and I ordered the same thing, the Reuben sandwich, and to even say that looked like a Reuben, much less, presented as a 1695 sandwich was far less than expected, delivered in a manner that subway would have done a better job, and honestly look like something that had been chopped up in a meat grinder not a Reuben sandwich, the so-called homemade potato salad look like something, and tasted like something from the Walmart deli, was scooped out with an ice cream scoop and placed in a small bowl. Again, the presentation did not come across as a restaurant, who wants to boast themselves as high end, but rather as one that really does not care any longer. Over priced, under delivered, and Unappealing, with staffing that do not have the training to act in the matter of a high end restaurant, and for the prices, they need to really step up their game across the board from the entryway with the hostesses all the way back to the kitchen staff. I will start with that the customer service from our waitress was amazing. We had a table of 20 people and she did an amazing job. However, the food quality was not great for a restaurant where the average cost per person with food and drinks was $60. The appetizers were good, especially the ahi tuna. However the main courses is where it fell short. Everyone who ordered steak was happy and those orders were good. The burger was over cooked and very dry, chicken was over cooked, short ribs were not trimmed properly and was extremely fatty, and the sides were atrocious. The risotto was probably the worst I've ever had, vegetables were either frozen and not thawed properly or extremely old, mushrooms tasted out of a can and were soggy, and the mash potatoes were bland. Over all, the food was not very good, which explained the not so good rating. I would not recommend coming to this place due to the main course food quality. I hadn't been to Jeffreys in a long time and it was time to have another go. We came on a Sunday, had reservations and was quickly seated upstairs. I will say that the service was really good. The wait staff was attentive but not overbearing. It's always nice that you don't need to ask for refills, etc. That is a big plus for me and I make sure the wait staff knows how much I appreciate it. The food was really good. I had the short ribs and they had really good flavor. My sides were the mashed potatoes and vegetable medley. Both were spot on and were done to perfection. The atmosphere, Staff, and the Food have been consistently fantastic. During my most recent visit, our server Jennifer S., was exceptional. Her attention to our service, and patience, was so appreciated. She went above and beyond to make sure that our experience was perfect. She and the Hostess even gifted my mom with an unexpected slice of birthday cake as a surprise and very kind gesture. I always try something different each time i visit Jeffey's and I am always pleased. The Caprese Hoagie is light and still filling. Perfect choice on a hot summer day, definitely. Visited tonight after finding out their dining room was open and that I didn't need a reservation! Score! Jeffrey's is such a pretty building, I hate that it is stuck in the middle of a parking lot and feel like with the soaring open windows it would be more suited to a lot with a view, of the water or a more rural setting, but alas, that is not where they are. No matter, the beautiful patio and interior make up for the lack of curb appeal. We were greeted immediately and seated within seconds of arrival. Covid capacity rules were followed, and staff wears masks, bless their heart. We ordered drinks and they brought us some bread to nosh on while we made our dinner choices. It was so good (or were we starving?) served with butter AND olive oil and balsamic vinegar. The bread was warm and chewy with a crusty exterior. We seriously loved it! On a weird note, our tea was also delicious. Sometimes iced tea tastes cloudy or "pruny" if it has sat too long, but this was fresh brewed and not too sweet. Perfect! We ordered Calamari for the table to nibble on while we waited on dinner. It was really some of the best I've had, with zucchini sticks and sweet pepper coins sprinkled in among the calamari rings. The crispy and completely non-greasy batter is what set this calamari apart from others I've had. They served it with Texas Pete spiked aioli and marinara sauce. I couldn't decide which I liked more and ate way more calamari than I intended which wrecked my appetite for my actual dinner. My dining companions know that I have to have a little taste of their dinners for research purposes only! Turnabout is fair play, and my dinner is always available for sharing too. I got the Seared Red Grouper and if I'm honest, it wasn't great. It tasted far too much like Tilapia for me. Luckily, the paella style risotto and asparagus it was served with was out of this world good and more than made up for my lackluster fish. The Bang Bang Shrimp had the same coating as the calamari and was enrobed in this deliciously sweet yet tangy mayo sauce. It was actually a nice sized portion for an appetizer too. The Chicken Caprese is an inspired dish that is executed perfectly. It was the best dish of the night and the one I'll likely get next time. The Springer Farms chicken breast was moist and tender, and all of the accompaniments were especially redolent of a caprese salad, down to the pesto served over the risotto. We were too full to indulge in dessert, maybe next time! I would recommend this restaurant for groups or dates, where you might want an upscale casual dinner over a fine dining experience. Really a 3.5, but the staff was SO nice. Ate on a Saturday night with gal pals. I had the pork chop. I ordered it because it was topped with Marsala sauce with mushrooms. However, the pork was bland and I couldn't taste the Marsala in the sauce. My asparagus was fine. My baked potato was average. My friend who recommended it enjoyed her pasta. My other friend partook in the queen's feast menu. Her lobster bisque had good taste, but didn't LOR have much lobster meat in it. Towards the bottom of the cup, she remarked, "Oh, there are a few little pieces of lobster in here. She enjoyed her asparagus. Her filet mignon was good. The creme brulee was the highlight. It was supposed to be coconut and pineapple. I don't like coconut, and I couldn't taste it. WIN. Absolutely heavenly. I'll return when it's not Queen's Feast to give them another try. read more
