After seeing my initial review, the General Manager reached out to me to invite me back. I recently took him up on that offer. We arrived on a weekday evening. The dining area was pretty full. There was nobody at the waitress stand to greet us. After waiting for a few minutes, we were prepared to leave, assuming that the experience would be the same. But someone ended up coming to seat us. The rest of our visit went off without a hitch. Our waitress was attentive throughout our dinner. The food was hot and good. Our orders were prepared as requested. A gentleman, who I assumed was the manager, came by to check on us. Overall, this was a much better experience than our first visit. I'm glad we gave them another try. read more

What an all around great restaurant experience! We stopped for a late lunch at Hickory Tavern in Mooresville, NC. The restaurant is very clean and bright, and we were greeted warmly and seated immediately. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive throughout our visit. I had the Fish & Chips with the Brussels sprouts and my husband ordered the Pesto Turkey Club with tatertots. Both meals were hot and DELICIOUS! We just had a perfect experience at Hickory Tavern. So good, in fact, I was compelled to yelp it. The Tavern burger was a big hit with my son and the BBQ chicken flatbread was fantastic, wood fired to boot. Great food aside, our server, AJ Diaz, was exemplary. Always a consistent place to go. We specifically went for a little appetizer, chips queso and salsa. Our server, who was amazing by the way, said they took salsa off the menu. Really? How can a sports bar not have salsa? It's a staple in the food industry especially if you have chips. Additionally, how can you not have guacamole either? Bad move. In town for a friend's wedding and this is where they had their rehearsal dinner. It was a decent time. A little confusing, but I'm not sure that's totally on the establishment. We were greeted with a reserved area, and markers on the table complete with a QR code for what menu items were available. Problem one: QR code just took you to their main website, not sure it worked properly. Additionally, I guess there was a buffet planned that never materialized. Again, things change, no worries. Wedding parties are weird. Last minute changes are to be expected. Bottom line, I'll honestly say I probably shouldn't complain- AT ALL - as we didn't have to pay. However, my turkey melt was mediocre - much more dry turkey than "melt", but most of the appetizers we had were pretty good. A large portion of our nachos were left uneaten because...who puts THAT MUCH SOUR CREAM on nachos!? Damn, y'all. Every time we come here the service and the food is great! We are always seated quickly or offered to sit at the bar area. This location is very open and has many tables and booths. It is definitely good for large groups. The waitresses are kind and attentive! I love the bbq chicken nachos! I also love the variety of alcoholic beverages they have on tap. Bugs everywhere! We stopped in to have dinner and started with an appetizer and a couple of drinks. Little fruit flies several ... 15 were all over us! We asked the waitress if we could move to a different table. We thought maybe there was a reason for them congregating at this area. No one else nearby complained. The place was not busy. Maybe 5 tables nearby were occupied. The relocation made no difference. By the time our main meal arrived we were inundated with more bugs! The waitress "felt bad". Did nothing to compensate us though... it was like being at an outdoor picnic but worse ... to the tune of a $60 for what should have been relaxing meal. The waitress had theories about why the bugs were there... storm drains. Rain. Attracted to our meals. Maybe it was the drinks we ordered. All well and good but nothing was done. A basic let me see if a manager can cover your drinks would've been something. We will never go back. Food was decent but the experience was awful! Unappetizing at best. I realize they can't help bugs but, some form of compensation when you're spending $60 would've been a gesture. The waitress eventually told us the bugs were "all over the bar area." We were by the window away from the bar so ... Figure out your big issue! read more

Honestly if I could give 0 that's what I would do. Management team doesn't honestly know what they're doing but will do anything to keep the guests happy even tho it's disgusting in there with all the flies flying around you. Into your food, drinks, everything , and talking about the ambience .. the bartenders could be a little nicer and are a little slow making drinks and our service was a little slow even tho we were like the only ones in there and you could hear people argue .. honestly i won't be returning here and honestly if anyone was smart they wouldn't go here. Was visiting Mooresville and I try to eat at places I don't have where I live.. Decided to stop here and glad I did.. We had BBQ Chicken Nachos for an appetizer and was pleasantly surprised. I had the wings and my friend had a burger. Both items were good. Service was slow to start but didn't realize it was just opening. The bartender ended up as our server as the other ones were not in yet. She did a good job and kept up with the drinks and checked up on us. My wife took me to Hickory Tavern for Father's Day because I like their wings. We have been there several times in the past and the and service were fine but not great. Tonight it was all excellent. Andrew our server was great, fun and very efficient. He made it a fun evening. Overall the entire evening was very nice. Both food and service were excellent. . I do not know if they have a new manager but I would not be surprised if they do. The entire experience was better than the past. We will go back again soon. This was the most bland food we've had in years. I told the waitress that my meal had no flavor. She said, "oh sorry"! I asked for a side of queso that was supposed to be on the cheesesteak sandwich because the meat had ZERO seasoning, no salt or pepper. The queso helped a little. The frozen onion rings are $1.99 upcharge... which was on the menu; however, she never shared that my tiny plastic cup is queso would be $3. I told the waitress that she should have told me that there was an upcharge for the sauce. She said she " wasn't going to, but then i did it. " We won't be back. Not sure how people can eat there. This place was great. It was a little quiet for a Saturday night, but I would imagine it might be due to some of the poor reviews on this site, unfortunately. Ben was our server and he was very attentive and overall a great server. We had the pretzel bites and chips & queso for appetizers and my wife and I both had burgers for our meal. They advertise the burgers as smash burgers but they really weren't smash burgers, the patties were pretty thick but they were really good. There was a dirty, greasy, wodded up receipt from someone else's order, two hours prior. At first I thought they used one of those papers to separate ingredients because it was partially buried under the cheese. I called the restaurant 3 times and no one ever answered. I had to downgrade my review from a 3 to a 2. The food is terribly disappointing. Today I ordered wings. Even though the wings were cooked well and no blood gushing the wings looked like they came from a chicken with cancer. Out of 8 wings, 4 were bad. Literally looked like cancerous wings. Where do they buy there chicken wings from?-- it must be the cheapest wing place or they are buying 2nd grade chickens. Hickory Tavern damn do better than this or close shop. Would you serve your wife a chicken wing that looks like it has cancer.. there is a standard and it comes down to this -- serve good decent food prepared clean, nice presentation and taste good. Nice Restaurant and bar, I went after the mad rush on a Monday. It was raining outside when I arrived. I decided to sit at the bar area and ordered a Sangria. The bartender was very pleasant and took my drink order almost immediately. Great menu options, had a bit of hard time choosing what to have. I wanted to try the fish tacos but decided on trying the chicken tenders instead. I ordered it with a side of their steak fries. I had a gracing for malt vinegar again on the fries. I also wanting to taste their blazing Asian sauce on the chicken. Food came out hot, the chicken was crispy and a bit more than I could eat. The fries were perfect! I however didn't like the sauce. Not sure what is but ginger was to overpowering and I personally didn't think it was hot at all. I used the ranch sauce instead. I can certainly see this place busy on the weekends and it has lots of seating in the bar area to watch the games on their big screen TV's. I hope to bring my husband here so we can try the Grilled Salmon for dinner this week. read more
