This place is perfect for park ave. the beer selection is great. And I have to add EVERY draft beer that I have ordered at this restaurant has been ice cold!!! And that is so hard to find with bars that have large selection of craft beers. I have dined at this restaurant 3 times now. Iv tried a couple burgers and they were great. The French onion is average, nothing to rave about. The buffalo skins are tasty. Tonight I did take out and had the deep fried turkey sandwich with wedge salad. They forgot to put the cranberry compote and lacked on the garlic aoli which made the sandwich dry. Kind of disappointing I had the add my own Sauce when I got home to make their $14 sandwich taste good. Other then that everything else was good. After driving 45 minutes and making a reservation for 10 people more then 8 hours prior for my best friend's 21st birthday, we were told that it was "trivia night" and we would have to "wait until people got up and left" in order to be seated. After waiting for 20 minutes, I kindly asked the host how long we would have to wait and he said anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour. After being told that, we walked out and went across the street to Jines. Not sure if it's a Western NY thing because this type of inefficiency is NOT something you would find at any restaurant downstate but absolutely unbelievable. Went with an old friend for lunch and was seated outside around 12:30 ish. Within 15 minutes no server came to us asking for drinks. I asked the busser cleaning the table next to us, if she can find our server, just to start off with drink orders. Within 5 minutess, Our server finally came and got us water. We also ordered 2 drinks from the bar, which felt like forever. We Ordered 1 appetizer, and 2 entres which came out all at once. No clue why.... calamari and pasta was good. But the crab cakes seemed really soggy. Service seemed really slow, seeing that the restaurant wasn't slammed or crazy packed. We actually left nearly 2hrs later from waiting on food and drinks. Went for lunch today to Blue Wolf. I had Irish Nachos as an appetizer then a grilled cheese with onion rings as my meal. Irish nachos were good and served very quickly. Curly-ish potato fries with liquid cheese sauce, meat sauce, scallion and bacon if I remember. Tasted better than they looked. Grilled cheese was great, had some swiss in their and big thick pieces of bacon. Nice pub food for my first visit. Looked like there was a wide selection of beers on tap, but their prices all looked pretty high in the 6-7$ range. Black walls, booths and tables give it a clubby feel with pop art on the walls. Came to Blu for lunch with my friend and the service was okay on Tuesday. My chicken noodle soup was salty and the Chicken Cobb Salad was just okay. The dressing was great! My friend said the chicken Caesar salad was not very good. Not an ideal a place for lunch in our opinion especially for the price. Beautiful decor! Blu Wolf Bistro is a cool place on the corner across the street from CVS and Jines. This place is known for its burgers...for them being good and having many to choose from. They have around 13 different styles to choose from and we have tried the mushroom and west coast love burger. They also have the option to have a turkey burger instead of beef which is a great healthy option! We loved the burgers! They were a good size and juicy...we don't eat burger often so maybe we're biased but we feel that the nice bun and portion of toppings made the burger worth eating. They also brought the sweet potato fries side back which was nice to see! We have also tried the chicken quinoa and black and blue steak salads. The chicken quinoa is more like a grain bowl than a salad. I am not saying that's a bad thing but it's not a salad really. It's good if you don't mind mostly quinoa, which I don't :) the black and blue steak salad is a good salad that is filling. The beer choices here are pretty great too. They have a nice rotating draft list of around 30-40 beers all the time so you're able to find something you like! So take your time and pick a good one or get a flight if you can't decide! ;) read more

We had coffee at the bar on a Saturday before the family arrived for brunch and we quite impressed by the beer selection, but soon decided to take advantage of the 2 for 1 bloody mary's and mimosa's. The off to the table for a brunch selection that pleased everyone. Some had the avocado bowls, since at least one component sounded healthy. Others (myself included) had the home made corned beef hash that came with eggs and toast; others has to try the chicken and waffle. And the grandkids just enjoyed the waffles with fresh berries, syrup, and whipped cream. You can also get lunch selections at brunch time. Service was friendly and prompt; only suggestion is try to get away from the front door on a cold day. Park Avenue on-strret parking is hit or miss, but there is a large lot across the street that may belong to other businesses, but you can chance it if you wish. Certainly will come back. read more

Best wine selection ever. I've been to Blu Wolf a couple of times and the wine has always been spot on. The food is pretty good too, but it doesn't stand out like the wine. I had never been here until I moved into the Park Ave area but I can tell you that I was missing out. Their fries are like chubby curly fries and if you're in the mood for some brunch after a rough night out, they have hangover bowls (a delicious twist on the garbage plate). Our party of three was seated quickly in a half full weekday lunch crowd. There seemed to be two to four servers but I couldn't tell because the person bartending was also bringing out food which doesn't bother me at all. Irritating though was the need for one of us to go up to the hostess after fifteen(!) minutes of sitting down without seeing a server once. Once acknowledged we we're offered dessert on the house. The food came out quickly and was just OK. Two of us, including myself, got the chicken caesar sandwich and I swear the chicken in the other sandwich was almost twice as large as the flattened speckle of meat that I received. The fries were shaped uniquely but you get over that fast as they taste exactly like steak fries which I was not expecting. I just had a severely scrumptious brunch cut short by a tragic experience that can only be described as an abhorrence. My close friend with whom I was sharing the meal and I contemplated on several different occasions throughout our visit just how fire the music playlist really was. "Bad" by Michael Jackson? "Island in the Sun" by Weezer?! "Mr. Jones" by Counting Crows?!? Alright well now you gotta be freaking joshing me because I've always been adamant that the perfect playlist didn't exist. Now all of a sudden here I am sitting in the middle of Blu Wolf Bistro witnessing the very thing I had frequently claimed a myth unfold gently yet authoritatively against my impressionable young ears. What is going on here?! Well go ahead and pass me a bottle Mr. Jones because you must believe in me! This playlist was helping me believe in anything. What happened next changed my life and if you are offended easily I would advise you to stop reading immediately. Just when we thought the continuation of the playlist's perpetual enrichment of our meals was against even the most basic of universal laws... we heard it. The intro to the undisputed masterpiece of the world "In the Air Tonight" by the legend himself... Phil Collins. My friend and I immediately locked eyes with matching grins. Could this really be happening? I've been waiting for this moment for all my life... well, we both had. Just when the excitement had reached a zenith that was in the midst of elevating our happiness to an overwhelming state of confusion and euphoria it happened. The song was skipped. I don't know why, but it just was. I will never forget this moment. The anguish. The misery. The betrayal. Not only will I never return to Blu Wolf, I might never leave this house again just to avoid giving anyone the opportunity to let me down in such a traumatizing fashion. I am listening to the song on repeat as I type and yes it does aid in slightly numbing the pain, but don't think for even a tick of the clock over your bedroom door that it heals it. My friends and I eat out frequently, each person/couple individually and as a group of 6. There is hardly a restaurant we have not visited at least once. We have hardly ever been treated as rudely as we were treated by the Blu Wolf staff. I should have known how bad it would be from the way I was treated when I called to make the reservation. The person on the phone was so very rude and was not actually listening to half of what I was saying. Apparently, I was really putting her out by calling. But she did get the last laugh, because when we arrived ....THERE WAS NO RESERVATION!!!! Turns out she never took the reservation. Even after discovering this, we decided to stick it out because they were able to seat us with only a few minutes delay. WHAT A MISTAKE!!! We should have just gone across the street. The waitress didn't come to our table for 10 minutes, not even a fly by greeting. Then she just walked up and said flatly, "What can I get you?" Because she had taken so long, we were ready to order our drinks and our food, which we did. She was clearly annoyed by this, and even though there were 6 people ordering, she didn't bother to write anything down. This became very obvious when 2 of our drink orders and nearly all of our dinners were incorrect. She returned with the drinks after another 10 minutes and we sent two of them back because they were wrong. The returned drinks were quick, which makes me suspect she just took whatever was sitting on the bar the first time. Then we waited for a very long time for the food. When the food arrived it was both the appetizers and entrees at the same time. So she just punched in the entire order at once without care. Toppings, more specifically the exemption of toppings were wrong. In fact every topping that was asked to be held, was not. So she could not be bothered to enter that into the computer either. When we attempted to flag her down, it was as if she was intentionally avoiding our table. I finally had to get up and interrupt her at another table to get her attention. Once again she acted openly annoyed that we were 'bothering' her. One of our friends ordered a medium burger which came very rare, so it was sent back. When it came back to the table it was so dry and burnt on the edges that it was falling apart. So, it was sent back again. A new burger came and it was RARE AGAIN!! Our friend just ate around the edges and didn't dare risk another try. We asked to speak to a manager and we were told that there was no manager available. Probably hiding in their office to avoid complaints!?!?!? There was no concern from the waitress that we were asking, nor was there any apology from her. This makes me wonder if the management of Blu Wolf encourages their staff to treat customers badly. We will never dine here again, and we intend to vigorously spread that word. I can get a better burger at many other places: Jine's, Orbs, Marty's, ButaPub, McCann's, or Tap and Mallet. MORE IMPORTANTLY, I can get far superior service!! In fact, since I know the owners of some of the other restaurants mentioned, I can safely say that neither Peter, Ian, Marty, nor Kevin would ever tolerate their staff treating customers with such rudeness. Poor service when we were there, plenty of staff, but seemed too busy socializing with off duty employees/friends to take care of us. Cold blast of air fills restaurant every time the front door opens on a cold day. Burgers not done as requested. Food was decent, but I would not call it great. Nice atmosphere (minus the cold air coming from the front door) Parking can be problematic. Can definitely find better meals for the price. 2 beers, 2 burgers, small app, was $60 ish without tip. $15 too expensive for an average burger, lots of better and cheaper places in town to get a good burger. I have been here before and had good food but was always at the bar so i had never had an experience with the service until recently. We came for dinner - on a friday night. No reservations but we had called ahead and they said about 40 min. Being a friday night, i can understand that 40 min means an hour. When half the party arrived 10 min later, they said 30 min and when the remaining people arrived they said 15 min. After 2 rounds of drinks and quite a bit of time we asked what was going on. We had been staring at empty tables and wondering why we weren't being seated. The staff pointed to a table they were waiting on and said as soon as they pay their check and leave. Well that table had not even ORDERED their food when we arrived and were told 15 min to sit. We had a child and very pregnant woman in our party of 6. I have reasonable expectations when you're eating out on a friday night with no reservations but to be told 15 more min and still not have a table an HOUR AND A HALF later?? Ridiculous! We walked out and i won't be back. If they could have been realistic about the time, there would not have been an issue. We would have gone somewhere else and looked FW to going back there another time. But they kept stringing us along as we asked numerous times about the wait. They always had 3-4 people at the hostess table and many open tables. It comes down to people not knowing what they're doing and not caring about decent customer service. read more

If Yelp would allow it, I would give this restaurant zero stars. My boyfriend and I have been here twice. The first time we went, it was opening week which was a moderate experience but not the best. We gave this place the benefit a doubt because as individuals who have worked in sales as well as waitressed and bartended, we understand the difficulties that a restaurant may have during their first month. Tonight was our second time going to this place. My boyfriend and I had just returned from a trip and wanted a nice meal so we decided to phone in an order. I called at approximately 7:20. The individual who answered the phone put me on "hold". I was on hold for FORTY minutes! So I hung up and called back. There was no answer. I decided to drive down and place an order assuming they were busy. They weren't busy for the amount of staff on and amount of empty tables (mind you I called continuously, until I walked into the restaurant so about TEN minutes of no one answering). When my boyfriend and I arrived, we complained to the hostess (who's name I didn't catch). She said she doesn't take orders and only transfers the phone calls to the bar (no apologies, just placed blame). So we ordered our to go order at the bar. Our server/bartender was named Lara. We complained to her. She gave us attitude, didn't apologize and proceeded to say that the restaurant doesn't transfer or put people on hold, just mute and that no one gave her the phone. She proceeded to say that it was the hostesses fault. Now as a previous bartender and waitress the proper response would have been "I am so sorry for the inconvenience, this never happens, let me get the manager for you." Instead she was rude and disrespectful as well as complained about us to one of her coworkers, two feet away from were we were standing. Needless to say, my boyfriend and I left and waited for our food in the car. I told him that I wasn't going back in to be disrespected and treated like scum. He went in and of course our order was messed up! We paid a pretty penny for terrible customer service! One would think with all the complaints on here about their staff that either the restaurant would clean house or hold meetings on proper serving etiquette. Okay, so, I went to this restaurant with friends just now and had a great time with great food and great service. The menu is spot on and the ambiance is fantastic. This is my second time at the establishment and I enjoyed it very much. The waitress was hilarious. Also, one should expect to pay for quality. This isn't Jines. If you want diner fare at diner prices, walk across the street. I've just read some of the reviews and I'm a little taken aback by some of the things written. I actually thought some people might have had the wrong restaurant. I'm a little disheartened that everyone is suddenly a professional critic pandering to their imaginary online audience. It's like that South Park episode. One more thing, I've got some advice for another reviewer: Don't go after the manager because you don't know what 5oz in a wine glass looks like. He was looking at you blankly because you stopped everything he was doing while running his busy restaurant so you can expect him to apologize that 5 oz doesn't look like 5 oz to you. There is genocide, starvation and the oppression of human beings in this world and your greatest concern is that 5 oz poured by someone (who pours wine literally all day) doesn't look like 5 oz to you. Strolled into this spot to get a drink while waiting for a table for brunch across the street. We had a party of 7. After ordering the B1G1 Bloody Marys and Mimosas, we decided to stay. Unfortunately we missed brunch by a couple minutes. Our server Amanda was great! Our table ordered several apps and a couple entrees to share. We stopped in for lunch because all the restaurants in the neighborhood were packed. First off, this is not an inexpensive restaurant. I was shocked when the check arrived and we were charged for ice tea refills. Really?!? I have never seen that in any restaurant I have ever been to and, given the low cost of the beverage, it is quite a profitable product for them. Our total check for two burgers and ice tea approached $40 which is think is a little on the high side for a burger lunch without alcohol. Our burgers were good. My wife really enjoyed her mushroom burger but my pub burger was average. It came on a pretzel roll which is a favorite of mine. This one, however, was very different from any I have ever seen, which is fine if it is good, but this one was extremely dry taking away from what otherwise would have been a good meal. The other unfortunate thing is that because the cheese is soft it, along with the caramelized onions slid off the meat making it exceptionally sloppy to eat. Came here for brunch on a Saturday a few weeks ago. We ordered the buy one, get one mimosas and for my meal, I ordered the Hangover. The combination of grits, potato hash, mac n' cheese, eggs, and white gravy/meat sauce was absolutely incredible.
