Drinks and service were good. They had great margaritas, the restaurant dining was clean and I loved the decor. Our group of four sat at the bar and the service was great. The food, however, just didn't have that authentic taste to it. It was a little disappointing because everything else was great. I had the flour steak taco combo and there was an after taste in the steak that I didn't care for and the rest of the plate just didn't have a good flavor to it. Nearly empty when I walked in, and unfortunately the food and service both disappointed, so I learned why. The food came out quickly but was bland. Tonight, e decided to hit the Blue Agave. The establishment is trendy, clean, visually appealing. Loved the atmosphere of the Mexican decor shopping with Chicago trendy downtown atmosphere. Upon entering, we sat at the bar and was immediately helped by our server. We split an order of steak fajitas, ordered 2 margaritas as well that were excellent. The food was amazing. The steak and fixings were bursting flavoring and seasoning. They give you enough fixings for 3-4 people if they eat light! What I don't get... they give you 4 tortillas for all of it! Lol.. seriously?! Make sure you ask off the bay for extra tortillas, because it took them over 25min to get us extras after we asked and they weren't even that busy. One big issue was the quality of their service. We were sitting at the bar where 2 people were bartending, but they favored one small group on the other side and duties behind the bar than helping our side. I had to get up to ask for a refill and extra tortillas. The wait was ridiculous for a slower night. Overall, I highly recommend Blue Agave for their food! Just make sure you plan ahead for slow service because I almost have 3 stars for how bad it was... luckily I couldn't in good conscience do it with the high quality of food we had! read more

We just moved in my daughter next door to her apartment and decided to eat here for dinner on Sunday night. I like the ambiance and spanish music playing in the background. Lots of seating in very nice wood high tables and chairs. The service was really good. We ordered the chips and salsa and with guacamole. The chips were warm and the guacamole was well made. I got the chicken burrito but my daughter and niece let me try their dishes. The beef quesadilla was very tasty and different with thick slices of beef and the chicken enchilada was also very good. Occasionally the menu does change and right now they are serving a variety of happy hour $6 margaritas and shots. What ever they have here in steak...order it! One of my favorite spots to get steak tacos and steak enchiladas. So why four stars instead of five??? I wish they would update the finishing on the tables. Came here with a friend a few days ago and was pretty impressed with the flavor and the amount of food they gave ! The steak for my quesadilla was a great quality which is important to me. (I got a seasonal special quesadilla so it might not be available for much longer) I would pass on their elote (corn in a cup). It has a slightly sweet hot seasoning which I wasnt impressed by. But their guac is AMAZING. Which is hard to find at city restaurants Service was great and the restaurant is clean w/ AC. Outside is self seated. It was about 5 pm on a Friday night, and our impromptu (poorly planned) dinner reservation with some friends was at 9 pm, so we needed something quick as a mini snack for pick-up (before I get HANGRY). Everything in the area was about 30 mins to 1 hour to prepare on GrubHub. Blue Agave was giving an estimate about 10-15 minutes on GrubHub! SOLD! My fiance ordered a steak burrito from here, which came with 2 generous sides. For ~$16, this was a good deal. I only ate the sides because I did not want to be not hungry for my 9 pm dinner. For sides, we had the chips and salsa, and Mexican Street Corn. I absolutely LOVE the Mexican Street Corn from here. I can eat a whole tub if I can. For what it's worth, I hear the burrito was delicious, too. read more

We have gone here three times now but the last visit was not great. We came in on Sunday for lunch and opted in for the bottomless mimosas for $17. We each had three or four drinks while we were there. The champagne wasn't chilled and the mimosas didn't taste great because of that. I had to ask for ice a few times to put into our glasses. There were also flies/gnats around our table that just wouldn't go away. It was an unpleasant dining experience. In previous visits here, we ordered the mini tacos. On Tuesday's and during happy hour they are a great value -only $2! We also tried their Tijuana fries and they were very good! Not sure we will come back just based on our experience on Sunday. Sat at the bar on a Wednesday evening with a friend. Our server/bartender Ricky was friendly and attentive, we thoroughly enjoyed chatting with him. He did a great job of checking in on us to make sure we had everything we needed. I had the enchiladas and my friend had the fajita burrito. Loved the fresh warm tortilla chips & salsa before our meal. My friend said the burrito is her new favorite and she will be ordering it out in the future. I had a Paloma & she had a Sangria. Drinks were great too! This is my 2nd time eating here and I think it's a fantastic spot. I have been to Blue Agave a handful of times now. Each time, we have had a good experience. The staff is friendly, and the atmosphere is cool. It's never been packed full, so we always get seated right away. The food is always good, just nothing over the top awesome. I dig the queso, the margaritas are good, and the tacos are decent. I did receive a 10% off code when checking in which was a nice little surprise. This is such a convenient location but seems they are equipped for carryout and not dine in. Just received an order from Blue Agave via Uber Eats. I was skeptical about ordering since there's a big difference between their UE reviews and their Yelp reviews. Everything was fine. The food arrived still fairly warm despite the journey from across town. The salsa was still steaming hot, and served as a wonderful complement to my two mini tacos. These two small pieces of heaven were moist and flavorful, and hit the spot good enough for a late evening snack. I don't usually eat beef, but on rare occasions, I make an exception just for tacos. Though I was hoping for carne asada, the strip streak taco was still good, well done and tasty. Chicken tacos are my general favorites, and Blue Agave definitely knocked this one out of the park. Going forward, their chicken taco will be my go-to. The REAL winner here is the watermelon agua fresca. Despite being a pricey $4 for a 12 oz cup, I was all too happy to wash those delicious tacos down with this refreshing drink. I think I got lucky by having a seamless Uber Eats delivery, so next time I will dine in and grab some new menu items. Definitely authentic cuisine and worth a try. read more

A friend and I walked in at ~7pm on a Saturday night and were seated immediately. The atmosphere is that of a generic sports bar with quick, to-the-point service. They also have bottomless mimosa on weekends! This seems like a great place for a group hangout or a casual meal. We quickly got complimentary chips and salsa, and I ordered the frozen avocado cocktail because my curiosity got the best of me. And the cocktail was actually pretty good! It was kind of like a creamy, sweet-ish slushy with very subtle avocado taste. I ordered the three tacos + two sides combo. For the tacos, you can choose flour or corn tortilla, and I got al pastor, skirt steak, and chipotle chicken. Decided to try it one night and ordered the Molcajete with chicken, and it was one of the best things I've had in Chicago in a long time. The portion sizes actually match the pricing which is not normal for most places, and the drinks are solid. The service was also very nice and timely. You're not going to get foodie food here, but you will get a good meal that will fill you up without breaking the bank and an excellent margarita! We've been going here since 2013 and are consistently pleased with the menu options and the specials. Best thing to order? Order the tres enchiladas. The new menu offers three of the same enchiladas but you can order three different enchiladas. I highly recommend the cheese enchiladas which go down quite well with a house margarita. This review covers Blue Agave's sangria stands at the 2021 Roscoe Village Burger Fest. This mainly goes out to Sam (the owners daughter) and my experience with her. The rest of the staff they flew out for this event were fantastic and did genuinely apologize for her behavior. You cannot advertise buy one get one and then clarify later its buy one get one for the original price... If you are telling me that it is buy one get one for $8, it sounds like the original price is $8 and you are running a promotional. Why on earth charge for two when its the end of the festival and all the drunk-happy festival goers will take your "deal". It was not right, it wasn't funny, it might be illegal and it was a stupid joke that you (or Mario) should have made right when it became a problem. It isn't hard to refund $8, but you couldn't do that and decided to argue about it for 10 minutes. I wasn't looking for a free drink and put the drink on the counter and even then, no refund. You say it was a joke, you say it was "marketing", but this isn't a school project and you're messing with peoples wallets. We were walking on our way out and stopped by the next Blue Agave stand, the workers there were very nice and apologized for the behavior. They gave me some background on who runs what and were very nice to talk to. Sam walked up to collect the money and immediately told us to leave. The argument started back up and one of the workers signaled us to get out. I alone stopped at the third tent and just asked about the restaurant and gave them the quick version of what happened.
