Visited Sunday morning for a simple breakfast. It took 20+ minutes from entry to having food, a bagel and a muffin. The fundamental problem was that the staff was disorganized. The person that took an order for a toasted plain bagel with cream cheese went to the cash register. The person that checked us out took me credit card and left to make coffee. Another person finished checking me out and returned my credit card. Food prep must have had similar problems. The bagel was not toasted and tasted of onion. A muffin was baked without enough baking powder or soda and was brickish. Most other experienced similar problems. We will not return. read more

Blue Baker is a favorite family stop. This visit was with friends and I wanted to try something different from my favorite Tejas Blue. Manager Scott, suggested the Neapolitan Pizza. Great suggestion! I loved every bite with the tasty tomatoes and fresh basil. Do wonder why it is $1.50 more than the pepperoni pizza the same size. One other wonder, Why no Red White and Blue Bread at 4th of July? A wonderful bakery! The sandwiches here are different but delicious. You can build your own sandwich or start with what they have and subtract or add ingredients. I particularly like the hot sandwiches. The baked goods are yummy and so tempting. My favorite is the Cinnamon Raisin Swirl bread, but then again I really like the Pumpkin Muffin. Blue Baker does a large volume for a long time, and it is starting to show. I got a dinner salad and there is no portion control. I paid $4 for a tiny salad (10 bites). Other times the dinner salad is 5 times larger, depending on the server. This is ridiculous when prices are this high. Blue Baker is loved by many, but over the long term they are taking their customer base for granted. Small pizza, small salad and tea-$14. The only thing they actually have going for them any more is freshly made bread. Nothing else on the menu is special or remarkable. If you want a sandwich, it is great bread but otherwise normal. The place is spacous. The staff is average. The prices are moderate. The soup is decent. The parking is good. What I really liked was the seating. There are many cozy, semi-private booths and a few seperate alcoves that will seat nine or ten people. The ordering system is like a cafeteria. People stand in line, place their order at the beginning, walk past breads, desserts, sides and drinks asking the servers to add food to the plate. Then payment is made at the end of the line. I love Blue Baker. The bread is amazing, my favorite is zucchini and the focaccia they make daily. The Club sandwich is my #1 choice always. The sauce is slightly tangy and excellent on the croissant bread. I did try the Blue Baker on Dominik, and their club wasn't as good; I think their sauce tasted different, less tangy more mayo. The pizzas are awesome, highly recommend since you order how you'd like and they grill/bake it in an open stone oven. The crust is my favorite part! The ambiance at the University Blue Baker is beautiful facing the water fountain outside and has a nice clean, friendly environment inside. The BB on Dominick is a few miles closer to me, but we never eat inside because it's just not as nice, not bad, just not as nice as University's. Probably the best pizza of my whole life. Wait staff was very nice when I ran into another guest and spilled all of my water. Outside seating is breezy but had a nice view of the fountain. I WILL NEVER AGAIN set foot on this place. Jason Deli is by far more superior when it comes to sandwiches. We ordered some club blue sandwiches and asked to add an avocado. The avocado wasn't ripe, the croissant was flat and tasted old. Not enough ham and greens, it is a sad looking sandwich. We also bought a cupcake which was also disappointing. This is what really makes me mad. How can you get a cupcake taste so damn fucking disgusting, it is dry and just overwhelmingly not edible. Yea no thank you. I'll just get my sandwiches in Jason's Deli. So damn disappointing, I was hoping this place is ok. read more

My family and I were passing through town and read great reviews about Blue Baker. It was almost completely empty, yet it took a while for us to be helped. The ordering process was so confusing- the guy that took our order walked down the counter to prepare a salad and no one took over to continue taking our order. There were two employees hanging out and ignored us until the guy trying to help us yelled for back up. I would go in to more detail, but I'm still not exactly sure what happened. I had the caprese sandwich and tomato soup and both were very good. The rest of the family agreed that the food was unremarkable. Really not so impressed with the whole experience. Food smells great. Don't often eat there. Coffee is outstanding, and I'm hard to please. Try the Java Blue Organic. But ... They advertise wireless connection to the Internet, but they can't keep it running. It is a daily hassle with them to get them to reset their router, and lately ... they say they've fixed the problem, but you still cannot connect. It's been three weeks now without a connection. The staff has no clue. The manager insists it's my fault. When I get to the source of the problem, I find that their network support has set the router up only to broadcast Wifi n signal. They have abandoned their b/g customers, and don't seem to care. IMHO a business that advertises free Wifi needs to do a better job of fulfilling that promise. DO NOT GO TO BLUE BAKER EXPECTING TO HAVE A QUIET MORNING SIPPING COFFEE AND SURFING THE NET. It ain't happenin'!! read more

Ehh..Solid lunch spot. A great variety of options for everyone. Nothing really stood out to me. I did like that I was able to customize my sandwich and side salad to whatever i wanted on it. Customer service was good and I did not feel rushed while ordering or anything. I ordered a side of pesto for my sandwich on the side and it tasted and smelled rancid. Glad I did not ask for it on my sandwich or else I would have had to throw that sandwich away. I've heard their pizzas are really good but i've yet to try them. Kinda weird reviewing a place I can no longer eat at anymore. Since going more or less carb-free, sandwiches, pastries, and pizza are out. Pizza is the occasional exception. But I ate here enough in the day to recall how good it was. Every sandwich i ever had here was first rate, and truth be told, I have not had a better sandwich anywhere else in town. The breads are made here and are great, the meats are high quality, and I love that I could customize and add all the fresh veggies I wanted. Nice condiments too. Pizzas are good, and before Napa Flats and Rx raised the pizza bar in town, I used to think the ones from here and Antonio's were the bees-knees. And they are still good. We order them, along with sandwiches, for our work functions, and they do a nice job. Used to enjoy the bagels and pastries here for breakfast until I began taking my health seriously. This is the best place to eat in the BCS area, no better sandwich-type shop - with great soup and pizza too! Service is always great, get food quickly even when very busy. Desserts are out of this world and I appreciate all the people, places, schools they welcome to visit and tour. The sourdough bread bowl was a bit tough but the interior was soft enough. Peanut butter cookie ($1.75 after tax): This soft peanut butter cookie was tasty. It had a good PB flavor that wasn't too sweet. OVERALL: The food here is good, but the prices are a bit high. Other than that, I always enjoy coming here to eat. read more

The rudeness here was absolutely unimaginable! This was the first time we have ever been here & there is no way in hell I'll go back. We stepped up to place our order - the girl didn't say hello or how can I help you or anything. So I told her what sandwiches I wanted (one for me and one for my daughter) she didn't give any directions as what to do next, she was obviously frustrated because how busy it was, she didn't write my order down and never acknowledged anything I said. My sister in law then came up to place her order (one for her and one for my brother), she had the same experience and my mom was to be next. The girl taking our order walked away from my mom and said she needed to start on ours before she got moms order - uhh why don't you just write it down!? So my moms standing there with no one to place her order with as the next group was being helped by the next order taker. We were all standing there confused on what to do and the girl said "you can all move down to the register" and I said "it would be nice if you would explain it to us" and she VERY rudely and under her breath said "I did". I have mom hearing so I turned around and asked her to repeat herself and she all but yelled at me that she HAD explained it to us. When we got to the register we were then asked AGAIN what we had ordered and what was on our sandwiches because obviously they have no way to know from one side to the other what you've ordered. It was such a confusing ordering system that even the employees didn't know how to handle it. NEVER have I been treated so disrespectfully in a restaurant, while the manager took over and was very nice she tried to explain away her employees behavior with the excuse they had been "busy". Sorry, that is NO excuse to treat someone that way. The food was mediocre and could easily be made at home for MUCH cheaper and much quicker. I go here at least twice a week. Great food. The selection is a little limited, but if you just want breakfast, a simple lunch, or a pastry, you will be happy. Wifi works great there which is a huge plus for me as I like to go and spend a couple of hours and get some work done. I recommend it. read more
