    Meatloaf

Dinner was very underwhelming. To start, I ordered a dirty martini with Builders gin-phenomenal. Unfortunately, it only went downhill from here. We ordered cheese curds & deviled eggs. The cheese curds were probably the most flavorful thing we ordered, in theory you'd think that would be dinner entrees. Deviled eggs seemed like they were precut and several days old. For dinner: meatloaf & pork chop, both which we were assured by our server are delicious. Neither meal was seasoned. The meatloaf was so bland and flavorless. The mashed potatoes were boring. I ate simply because I was hungry. Service was okay. I was really looking forward to trying Blue Bird Bistro, but it just didn't do it for me.

What a disappointment. Was so excited to try the eggs and smoked trout for breakfast, but by 11am, they were out of the trout. I got the vegetable bowl with an egg on top and couldn't even eat the meal because the vegetables were roasted in so much oil. The oil pooled in the bottom of the bowl, which was shown to the hostess. She did offer to take it off our bill but by that time, we had already paid because it took so long for the food to be served. The biscuits were dense and when we asked for jam, we were told they were out of that too. Cute place and was fun to look up the history of the pharmacy and doctor's office which used to be there. Probably will not go back, sadly.

My experiences here were vastly different, and I'm so sad. I'm not sure if restaurant week has affected the quality, but it was unfortunately not nearly as good as I remember. First, they were out of some ingredients for their restaurant week menu, and I went at the beginning of the week on a Monday. That doesn't bode well for the rest of the week. I ordered the 4 course meal - I really appreciated the vegan and vegetarian options however I don't think any of them were particularly tasty or worth it. My mushroom appetizer was a single dry unmarinated baby bella. The chestnut soup was strange and sweet. My lion's mane entree was also extremely dry, not a sauce or seasoning to be found on the plate. For the price, getting 1/4 of a single sweet potato mashed with dry mushrooms and literally 8 dry undressed leaves of spinach was a huge letdown. A creamed spinach or some kind of mushroom broth would have gone a long way here, even if the portions were quite small. The dessert saved it from being a total disaster - the apple cake was nice, not too sweet with a rum glaze. If I were you I would save the money and make a week's worth of groceries for two people at home for the same price. Such a shame, as I really enjoyed the last time I was here (which I suppose was years ago).

I wanted so much better! I had eaten here more than a few years ago and remember having some of the best buffalo chili ever! For her birthday, Katie chose this one, specifically for the vibe. And that held up. But, I'm getting ahead of myself... here is the breakdown. The Food - Sadly, this is where I have the problem. And it is multifaceted. Portions are large, but the food quality is just so-so. You are also only getting part of the meal. I ordered the meatloaf. As you can see from the pictures, it came with a mushroom gravy on mashed potatoes. There was a small amount of microgreens sprinkled on top. And that is all. No veg. Katie got the Salmon, and it was on quinoa. Again, a few microgreens on top. The meatloaf was at best lackluster. And quite frankly, if it hadn't been for the potatoes and gravy, I probably wouldn't have liked it at all. Katie's salmon, reportedly, tasted fine, but she wasn't "wowed". And again, we have that struggle of a base starch/filler and nothing else. The food gets 1 star. The service - Ok, these people were friendly. Not overly, and they didn't do a bad job of making sure we were taken care of. Service gets 3 stars. And the Ambiance - Ok, this is where it gets bumped up. This is one of the cutest and neatest little cafe's and I recommend everyone who gets the opportunity to go to this place at least once. 7.5 stars for this! Here is the crux. It may have been an off night. I saw two staff members the whole time, and it was the Thursday before Halloween. I believe in this place and, after reading many other reviews, feel like giving it another try. You should too! Even if you are just grabbing a glass of wine and enjoying the neat little cafe!

Ummm why is this place nearly empty on a Tuesday night? I get it, it's summer. But, like, they served me one of the best burgers of my life?! I don't get why the review average isn't much higher. I mean, I'm from LA so prices there are insane and comparatively this place was a huge discount but maybe it's high for this area since many of the complaints are about the prices. But the burger?! I haven't had a burger under $20 that good in years. Def get it with the white cheddar. I also got a side of roasted potatoes, which I wish were just a little crispier but they were still well-seasoned and tasty. Also, my Negroni was ON. POINT. Servers were friendly and I got the place to myself, sitting by the window, which I was both thrilled and sad about. My only issue was the menu said the beef burger was $16, and when I got the check, it listed it as $19. It was probably extra to add the cheese but it would be helpful if the additional price was listed clearly on the menu and separated out as a line item on the bill. However, if the burger is actually $19, they best reprint that menu ... I hope this place is busier on the weekends, or maybe when it's not summer, because an organic-focused, farm-to-table restaurant this cute in Los Angeles would be easily 20-40% more expensive. Support this restaurant and their efforts. You'll be bummed if they close and a dumb Jersey Mike's opens in their place.

I am giving this one star simply because the food was not good. Our server was very nice and attentive, but I would not return to this restaurant because of the food. It did not taste like anything had been seasoned. Every dish we tried was completely bland. The cheese curds were okay, but I still wouldn't pay for any of this again.

Went here for dinner was very disappointed. We got there very early for dinner, no nobody was in the restaurant, and they asked if we have a reservation. Then the whole staff discussed which table could fit us.. that was a little odd. We had a party of 3. Made ambiance awkward. The restaurant never filled up while we were there. For appetizers, the cheese curds were good but the deviled eggs were nothing special. Didn't taste fresh. The entrees were not good. We got the meatloaf and pork chop. I am never one who adds salt and/or pepper to my meals but this needed a lot. The food had no seasoning at all. The prices were high. Wouldn't come here again.

Ambience: Cute spot with unique decor and fall vibes Service: Friendly, no complaints! The waitress did a great job of explaining the menu and the most popular options. Taste: Tried the deviled eggs, catfish, bison brisket, oyster mushroom, and vegan orange cake. Deviled eggs were good, catfish was fantastic, bison brisket was dry and not very tender, and vegan orange cake had good flavor but was also a bit dry. Oyster mushroom was ok, not much flavor. Overall, good vegan / vegetarian options!

Such a cute place. We had great service for having a bigger party. The food was good but all of it came out cold which was a bummer because the taste was great but would have been amazing if warm. I hope to come back and try again soon!

Blue Bird Bistro is a delightful farm-to-table restaurant with a lovely ambiance and tasty food. The restaurant is beautiful -- cozy, low-lit, rustic, and charming. Especially look down at the beautiful tile flooring. This is a great place for a romantic evening date, but it's also a fun and bright breakfast spot for a weekend. Definitely don't need a breakfast reservation, I was the only diner for a while around 9:15 am. The dinner menu is a little fancy with some expensive options, but breakfast and lunch are more accessible. The lemony hollandaise on the generous half order of salmon Benedict was delicious, and the French toast was a perfect sweet treat for the end of the meal. The employees were all attentive and helpful and kind! Parking in Westside can be a challenge, but enjoy your walk through the beautiful neighborhood if you have to park a block away.

I've been a customer and fan for years!! Everytime I go back I have a wonderful experience. This time, I had the delicious deviled eggs, bison brisket, and famous vegan orange cake. The eggs are decadent and the filling is fluffy with a bold taste. The biggest problem is you don't get enough! The seasonal bison brisket is a new favorite. So juicy, so tender, so flavorful! The sauce is something else. Perfect blend of spiced and a hint of sweet. The orange cake was new to me but not to BBB. Sweet flavors and a great texture. The chocolate sauce on top makes it so good! The service is always top notch and the place is so cute. Great for any meal, date night, or a gathering with a friend! You won't regret it!

Food was okay, we liked it was completely organic. Menu prices for our entire meal were a $14 difference from what we actually paid.

We were seated and after 25 minutes of not seeing our server once we left. On the way out, they said "Thanks for coming". ‍
