We had a great time at Tailleur! We had a gift card and went all out. First of all, we loved the vintage decor! The whole place was so beautiful. We loved the food. The service was top notch.

The service was great and the restaurant was pretty. I liked the pear & Brie, but found a plastic in the dish. We notified the staff which they took care of it. The salmon fettuccine could be little bit better, the noodles seems little over cooked, but the salmon was cooked perfectly.

Tailleur is one of those places that instantly charms you - the warm, polished atmosphere makes a great first impression. And to be fair, the food lived up to the hype. Our Double Royale burger was beautifully executed and great quality. The beef rigatoni was rich, indulgent, and unlike anything I've had before. If this were a food-only review, Tailleur would be an easy five stars. Unfortunately... the service told a very different story. From the moment our server spilled my Diet Coke (served in a can, which felt odd for an upscale spot) and didn't attempt to clean it up, things felt off. My beef tartare starter took so long that both the server and a manager came by to apologize, assuring us it would be comped and out shortly. Instead, our mains arrived first, and by the time the tartare finally appeared, it felt like an afterthought we no longer had the appetite or opportunity to enjoy. The timing issues didn't stop there. I ordered the much-praised carrot cake to go, only to wait another 20 minutes with multiple "it'll be right out" check-ins. When the bill arrived, the tartare wasn't actually comped, so that needed another correction. We didn't complain once--honestly hoping things would course-correct--but the service never recovered. The final disappointment? The famous carrot cake I was holding out hope for to save the night turned out to be a dry, overcooked brick when I finally opened it back at my hotel. Tailleur clearly has talent in the kitchen, but the service missteps overshadowed what could have been a wonderful meal. With so many great restaurants in Kansas City, it's hard to justify a return when the experience felt this uneven.

No special event needed to eat at this amazing restaurant with fabulous food, cocktails, tall ceilings, great lighting, decor of antiques with equestrian touches. There are 2 floors and both are visually stimulating. Started our evening with French 75 cocktails while reading the menus. Went directly to entrees ordering the Coulotte Steak, very tender, the Sakara Pork Chop served off the bone, so delicious and a side of Butter Beans which I've never had, they were so good and even better the next day ( ps the B52's have a song titled Butter Beans!). Chef Jeff Workman story sounds very similar to famous Chef Jamie Oliver. When he was younger he learned to cook from watching TV while is mom worked as a hair dresser. Later in life he worked at a restaurant as a dishwasher, asked to start on the line as a position was open where he quickly caught on. He's now the chef! Enjoy!

Tricky to find, 2 doors down from the theater. Easy parking in back and you can just go through the back patio entrance. The interior is quaint and subdued. Soft lighting if you want to escape from the sun and the world outside. Extensive wine selection and even if they don't have one for paring they substitute with something else. Top notch. Start with the cauliflower, which is very unique and the sauce is incredible. The burger was rich and smooth. The duck was a nice sized portion and the flavor - wow. If you dip in the sauce it takes to a new level. Carrot cake was rich as expected. The icing was extra rich I would say decadent. If you wonder about the cake, it definitely is real because you can see bits of carrots and the cake. Overall, great experience, look forward to going back, maybe eating outside on the patio and the weather is nicer. Service was incredible.

This is a great place but expensive very less options. I'm in was amazing interiors for historic service was outstanding. They let us cut a cake which we got from home. No ambience had a very rustic French look there's a problem with the parking. You gotta find something before you get there make sure you do your reservations.

As soon as I walked in I thought wow this place is so pretty and elegant with lots of flowers spaced here and there. Love the vibe! My friend and I had reservations and got seated right away. The server took our order and the food came out pretty quick. She kept checking on us throughout the time we were here. I ordered the mussels which were very flavorful. Just wish they were a little bigger, no big deal though. We shared the peaches and brie. So good and creamy. The peaches were a great addition to the brie. It came with grilled focaccia. I could've eaten a couple orders of this. I also ordered the cauliflower. I've never tasted cauliflower quite like this. Very good although I was kind of full, so didn't eat much and took the rest home. It was very good the next day. We split the crème brûlée. Nice crunchy top and very smooth custard. Great addition with the raspberries. It might be the best crème brûlée I've ever had. I loved everything but my favorite was the peaches and brie. I'd really like to come back here and try other things on the menu. I totally forgot to take a pic of the mussels. Oops

We were very excited to try this place out. It was an odd experience. We showed up for our reservation and our table was not ready. No big deal, we went across the street to the sister bar to wait and have a drink there. They were kind enough to call us when our table was ready so we headed back over. I ordered three different drinks before they clarified that they don't have any bar, they pre-batch their cocktails every night and do not keep any liquor so they can't even do a simple gin and tonic. Weird but fine, all the pre made drinks are super sweet and I'm not a wine fan. They only had six beers too so drink options are limited if wine is not your thing. The food was hit or miss. The brie came out cold (not sure how that happened) and the toast with it had no flavoring. The roasted cauliflower was delicious, I highly recommend it. The sauce was great with a good amount of garlic and salt. The steak tartare was also a great pick. I got the steak for my main and it was the most under seasoned steak I've ever had. My partner got the duck and it was some of the best duck I've ever had.

Cute restaurant, with a smaller menu, kinda on the pricer side for me & husband! But it was perfect for a date night in KC (from Omaha)! I ordered the burger with side salad. My husband got the steak & Freetz! He was obsessed, the main reason we came here! The inside was beautiful, it was HOT outside and HOT inside, we were sweating for our entire meal so that was a bit uncomfortable, but tolerable. The booths were short & small, not the most comfortable. Server was amazing and on top of everything. I would highly recommend reservations, it is a small space. There is street parking & a parking lot in the back!

This was a really tough place to rate. It's a cool space, the service was friendly and attentive, things that are really hard to get right were absolutely nailed, but... the things that should be basic for a restaurant like this were really disappointing. First, the good. The Steak Tartare was very tasty, and the housemade potato chips were such a smart vehicle for it. Added a wonderful salty crunch which paired beautifully! Then the Cauliflower... I am tepid on cauliflower, and when it came out as a full head I was skeptical, but man, was it perfect. Roasted beautifully, and the sauce with it was incredible. Likely the best version of Cauliflower that I've ever had. Finally, the Duck. Duck is always a risky proposition, if it's not done right it's pretty bad, but this came with a "brown butter mustard" that intrigued me enough to give it a shot. I'm glad I did. It was one of the best duck dishes I've had, and that's saying something. Now, the bad. Our table wasn't ready when we got there for our reservation, which is no biggie, busy Saturday night. But when the host asked us to have a drink at their sister bar (Cheval) across the street instead of having one there, I was a little confused. We soon learned why. When we were sat and our server asked for our drink order, we asked for a lemon drop martini and were told they couldn't do it. We asked for a different drink, and the server said they couldn't do that, either. She then explained that they pre-batch their cocktails and do not have a full-service bar, which was confusing since they have one across the street... Then, the Toasted Brie. The flavor was good, but it came our barely warm- that's a big miss for a place like this. Finally, the Coulotte Steak- while cooked to the temp we requested- was shockingly bland. It barely had any normal, beefy steak flavor which was very disappointing. I would give this 3.5 stars if I could, because the good was great. But I couldn't go with 4 because, as I said earlier, stuff that should be staples were huge let-downs. They had a lot on the menu that sounded fantastic, and the good was good enough for me to try some other dishes, and I just hope that they are the hits.

What an incredible ambiance in this French restaurant. The service, the food and everything about it was amazing. Highly recommend starting with the crab cake and then steak and frites with the sauce. For dessert, you must get the lemon poppyseed ice cream with lemon berry cake.

Tailleur is a beautiful restaurant that sticks to their theme from start to finish. The interior is beautiful decorated with an assortment of vintage decor and furniture. The food is traditional high tea offerings that are excellently made with care. Their tea options are delicious with fresh honey available to sweeten. All staff members were very friendly and helped keep up the experience. What a great place to spend a special occasion.

We had 2:00pm reservations for their May 30th Tea event at Tailleur. There was plenty of parking in the back lot and I made sure to get the parking validated by the restaurant host. We waited for at least 8 minutes to be seated as our table was being cleaned. The restaurant was busy with customers for their Signature Tea event and there was also a baby shower. We had the vanilla rooibos tea, which was flavorful. The three tier tray was filled with savory finger sandwiches, mini rosemary butter biscuits, and sweet pastries. The food was satisfactory and I enjoyed the savory sandwiches. This was my first visit to Tailleur and I plan to return for a Signature tea in the fall and to try their their regular menu for dinner.

You order at the counter when you walk in, so it has a casual, almost cafeteria-style setup, but the space itself is BEAUTIFUL. The building has so much character, history and gorgeous architecture, and the decor gives very warm, rustic, farm-to-table, homegrown vibes. There are interesting little details everywhere you look. It also seems to be a great daytime meeting spot. Kansas City is apparently still a very small town because during one lunch I randomly ran into both a friend from undergrad AND an old coworker I hadn't seen in forever. I ordered the Salmon BLT and really enjoyed it. The salmon was delicious, the brioche was great, and even the chips were good. If I could change one thing, I think a slice of cheese would take the sandwich up another notch. Provolone would be good, but pepper jack might really set it off. Overall, my food was wonderful, I loved the atmosphere, and it's a great choice for lunch when you want something casual but still want to sit somewhere with personality. Normally a second stop on such short timeline is a non-option, but that Steak Chimi had me asking questions... Is she really like that? Knocking my socks off with ease and leaving my cuticles filled with buttery remember-me's. I had to see her again. Had to! On the second time of asking, I wanted to see if she danced a different tune just as well. Putting on a Chicken Cobb for size proved ill-fitting, at least stood beside THAT sandwich. Nothing to make me crawl back with a humbling desperation. Inflation makes your lunch $10-15 already, so may as well make it twenty, order the right thing, and the Russell becomes worth frequenting. Just make sure she's wearing her shooting boots - we don't have room to thirst for Cobbs y'all.

My chai was the BEST I have ever tasted (and I order chai every chance I get!), and my friend loved her 3 drinks (she said Tres Raices was her favorite). Upon doing some research I learned it's a scratch kitchen specializing in clean eats, and that it's a chain. A win for the health options, a ding for the chain, but not all chains are bad, an we are living in a time where there are some winners. So, I packed myself up and headed down the road to Prairie Village. It's still fairly new, and it has that squeaky clean feeling to it when you arrive. Inside it's counter service and you seat yourself (they will bring the food to you). It kind of reminded me of how Noodles and Company felt when they first became a thing way back in the early 2000s. I ordered a thai salad that came in at under 400 calories so I was honestly skeptical at how big or flavorful it would really be when it arrived, and holy cow was it good.
