5 stars for this cafe - the staff went above and beyond and the drinks and food were absolutely delicious. Okay, so they let me be picky with the danish I wanted, warmed it up, and brought my drink to me in the back while I was chilling. Top tier service all around, thank you handsome lad with black hair (sorry I never got your name!) The lavender Vanilla latte was delicious - not too sweet, had the right amount of coffee balanced with the rest. I really enjoyed it I haven't had a poptart in forever for a good reason but when I took a close look at this I could tell icing was generous and applied recently, and the filling would be great. And I was right! Also the blueberry part of the danish melted in my mouth since it was warmed up - absolutely delightful! The vibes are great for crowds, dates, or even a hangout spot. Love the atmosphere here, the space is beautiful thoughtfully designed. Unfortunately, the service felt cold and indifferent. The baristas seemed more engaged with each other than with customers. No greeting when people come in, no real interaction while ordering, and no goodbye or thanks when people leave. An ounce of care goes a long way... I ordered one of the signature drinks and could barely taste the espresso at all, which made the coffee itself pretty underwhelming. The syrup flavors weren't good either. It's a café with a great space and a lot of potential, but the hospitality and coffee quality just didn't match the atmosphere. read more

First time stopping into this particular Made in KC store/coffee shop. I love the area and the large skyscrapers surrounding. The staff are friendly. There was no line, so service was fast. I ordered the Birdie (signature drink) which is a dirty chai with cinnamon. It's one of my favorite drinks. Sometimes I add chocolate to it. The next drink I'll try is the rose vanilla matcha (Monae). The baked goods and food are all made from Scratch bakery. read more

I hate giving bad reviews to small businesses and previously loved the Plaza location. However, here downtown, their drip coffee was ridiculously overpriced. $5 for a 12oz. and $7 for a 16oz. No prices listed anywhere beforehand. Yes, coffee prices have increased (thank you, Republicans), but nothing like this. Food and coffee were good but would have gone elsewhere. This place has the best staff!!!! Alieu was so kind to me and gave me great coffee suggestions. They are very knowledgeable about their menu. The decorations and merch are so chic, perfect for picture opportunities or just to study. Great music selection and great vibes. I got the lavender donut, delivered from Donutology, and they were extremely paired well with my white mocha. They have a delicious pistachio cold foam too! The bar is especially cool so don't forget to check that out! The only downside is I saw a few gnats everywhere and near the food. read more

I see great reviews, but I have different experience. Not sure anything here is actually made here - that is baked good are shipped in third party? Is everything? Gluten free egg dish was left over from last night (I was there and one had a distinct characteristic). Coffee is very mehh and the service (although seemingly nice ppl) was very transactional and perfectly chilly. The person behind the counter was talking to the person helping me about some post on her phone. Yes, it delayed the "transaction". oh and fifteen dollars for a mini KC mug! Come on. Nice little cafe. They have some creative lattes, which is the required criteria for me to go to a cafe. They also have a small assortment of food: muffins and breakfast sandwiches. It's not a huge assortment, but it's something to go along with your caffeinated beverage. Also, the cafe is not huge, but there is some seating. It's not something that I would recommend for a large group of people. Good customer service. read more

People say addiction can lead to bad things. But I believe Made in KC Cafe is the exception! The biscuits, the coffee, the people, and the whole vibe make you keep coming back! We were in KC for 3 days and we visited 3 times, with each visit exceeding expectations from the last. Keep doing what you're doing, and we will certainly be back! And the cereal milk latte (I believe is a special on weekends) is incredible like all the other reviews mention. I would also suggest any of the biscuits! Stopped by for a quick breakfast before a conference! Got the Cereal Milk Latte and Strawberry Cheesecake muffin. The muffin was delicious: had the perfect amount of sweetness & creaminess and bonus I've never seen this offered anywhere else (also definitely ask them to warm it up). The latte was good: the blue color was a nice surprise but honestly I couldn't really distinguish the cereal flavor. Ambiance was great, lots of seating & space, wish I had more time to explore their goods. Service was friendly and fast. 8.5/10 would recommend! read more

We came here and hosted a KC Silent Book Club meeting here. The staff was super nice and everything went great i love the sitting area towards the back of the shop. There's even a nice bar beyond that sitting area. Some of us enjoyed a nice cocktail while deep in the pages of our books. It's a nice place. The downside is it's downtown and you gotta pay for parking everywhere unless your lucky to snag an on street parking spot. read more

Visiting Kansas City for family, I discovered that I am not an early enough morning person to make breakfast work in the city. I had initially written off this cafe, as it looked, based on the name, like so many tourist trap souvenir shops and nothing more. I was so wrong and glad I stopped in. The staff were welcoming and personable, helping me out with a much-needed caffeine request and providing pastry options to my teenager as well. The coffee itself is excellently prepared, pulled and steamed to perfection. The danish was amazing, as well, with a flaky pastry base and a not-too-sweet filling pair. Said teen got a cream cheese muffin which I was assured was delicious and the speed of consumption would seem to verify. There were some gift-shop style options but they don't dominate the cafe area - no need to fear having your coffee while surrounded by nothing but football team merchandise. Of the four Made in KC Cafe locations that I have visited, this is the best one. Being the flagship location in the heart of downtown's business and tourism districts MIKC Cafe has everything one needs. A great espresso drink menu with seasonal rotating flavors, a full alcohol bar, wines to go, touristy KC related gifts, a variety of seating options including outdoor, art and a cool and Instagramable vibe. 816 Day Yay! When one of your favorite coffee shops/local retail hubs offers $8.16 cocktails to celebrate 816 Day in KCMO you've gotta go! I love going to all the Made In KC outposts but the 11th and Baltimore location is the closest one to me and with its adorable outdoor patio it's hard to miss. When you enter, you would be so surprised to know there is a hidden bar way in the back that is super laid back and low-key but very vibey. The drink menu consists of rifts in classics like Old Fashioned variations and Manhattens and Mules with very cute kitschy KC inspired names as well as a good amount of seasonal offerings. On this last visit I decided to try one cocktail from each of the lists, one that's offered year round and one that was a summer speciality. I started with the seasonal spicy margarita which our kind bartender, who didn't drink and didn't seem to have much practice making the drinks, informed us was made with house infused spicy tequila. A lot of the drinks contain local distilled spirits such as agave spirits from Mean Mule and Reiger Whiskey. It was pretty well balanced but, could have been spicier in my opinion but that's just me, in my opinion most things in life could be spicier but I digress. Onto my other drink which had a name that I had to look up the origin of, the Hotel Bray, which apparently is what the loft building next door used to be in a Kansas City life of the past, which essential was a take on a Manhattan with Rye Whiskey. This by far out of the two was mu favorite drink. If you find yourself downtown or at one of the many boutique hotels nearby please don't count out the cocktail and bar service at Made in Kc, it's a local way to imbibe in style! read more

We've been eyeing this place since we got into the city. We stayed at the hotel right next door so when it was time to pack up the car and make our journey back home, we had to get a coffee to go! What a fun place to visit! The staff is excellent and so kind. They always greet you with a smile. We often stop by on a walk with our pup. Dogs are not allowed to stay, but they welcome them if you are stopping in to grab a drink and be on your way. On the weekends, they have a cereal milk latte that is pretty good! They also have excellent other classic coffee drinks as well. They offer a wide range of seasonal drinks to try too. They offer pastries and breakfast sandwiches. The last time I went early on a Sunday morning, they were out of the sandwiches - not sure if this was a one time scenario or if this happens often. They also serve homemade poptarts which are to die for. Outside of the normal coffee experience, they also serve alcohol as well. read more

Visited this spot when I came to visit Kansas City. This Cali girl was craving a matcha latte, but came here and ended up with a blueberry moscow mule. 10/10, would recommend. The area was spacious and the AC was definitely appreciated after a long/hot day of walking around. read more
