I hate to give this restaurant less than a 5 star rating. The service is great and friendly. The place is clean. The food overall has been good in the past. Very good. We went this weekend to specifically have their hash which we've had more than once in the past. It has always been delicious and something you don't find just anywhere. This time we were very very disappointed. It's changed a lot. Now it's not what I consider hash. It was more like O'Brien potatoes with shredded meat ( brisket or corned beef) mixed in. The brisket was not very flavorful and a good portion of it on the dry side. Very hard to cut and eat. The corned beef "hash" was a tiny bit more flavorful. I just don't understand why you would change something that was so good and settle for something that so misses the mark. If for some reason you can't still make it like you used to, then take it off the menu. What you're serving now as hash is a complete fail. read more

Oh! Good Gravy! Before I even walked in the door, they won me over. Street parking right up front, no hassle! Yes, thank you! Then I walked in and saw the sign "seat yourself", don't mind if I do! I found a booth and was immediately greeted with menus, water and place settings. The food? I usually have a sweet tooth for breakfast but this morning I went savory and Oh Good Gravy! Their portions are all American! I got the biscuits and gravy and they had to serve it on two plates the portions were so generous. In this day and age I'm used to paying $20+ for breakfast but I rarely feel like I'm getting the bang for my buck. Well, bang bang bang! This place nailed it. I love that they have comfy booths, breakfast and lunch menus to choose from, delicious food, nice staff, and service has been pretty steadily good for awhile now. They are doing away with the frequent flyer punch card sadly. It was a nice loyalty program that offered a discount after so many purchases. Ambiance was great, it's a seat your self situation so when it's a 50 minute wait at the Stilly Diner this is the place to go. Service was great, very friendly. My husband got the chicken fried steak with hash browns, toast, & over easy eggs. I split the "corned beef hash" with my mother in-law, also with over easy eggs and a biscuit. Biscuit was great, really big, exactly what you'd want. The hash was odd...the meat was finely minced like it was from a can of corned beef & I think they forgot a hash has potatoes in it. I'm so disgusted with this place. The coffee used to be marginal, now it's just gross. I ordered a Belgian waffle with strawberries and "whipped cream". I tasted it and it tasted like a lighter version of cool whip which is gross and loaded with hydrogenated oils, high fructose corn syrup and tons of other garbage. None of which contains cream at all. I asked the server about what I was served and she said it was cream and they make it there. She actually showed me the co trainer of what it is they whip up and call "cream". It says right on the front NON-DAIRY WHIPPED TOPPING. There's no cream and it has all the same ingredients as cool whip. Do you think they cared? No. Not one bit. The prices of this place have gone up in at least 100% in the past couple years. It's absurd and I will NEVER go to this place again. Their customer base is 95% retired seniors. How can anyone afford this? They can't do they don't. And I'm sure this place was the one thing many of them looked forward to at least a few times a week if not every day. It's just pure greed. The server was rude and condescending when I brought up the cream issue. She didn't care one bit. She at least could have ACTED like she did. Bottom line, I'm DONE WITH THIS PLACE! read more

Tough one to rate. Some ups and downs. We walked in and just stood there. We had never been there before and there was no sign. Do we wait to be seated or seat ourselves? After 5 minutes, someone finally said to sit wherever we liked. The waitress was friendly and upbeat. I ordered the chicken fried steak breakfast. When asked how I wanted my eggs, I said over medium because most places undercook eggs. This was no exception. They came over easy, which is what I wanted. The portion for the chicken fried steak was huge. It was placed on top of the gravy which kept it crispy until the end. Smart move. The food was not very hot but no big deal. Longtime breakfast customer, and last thursday walked in shortly after 6AM, there was a new waitress working. I sat down started reading the newspaper, and after about 5 minutes looked up and although the cafe was not busy at all I figured the waitress did not see me so being only 3 steps from the coffee pot I poured my own cup of coffee (certainly not the first time over the past 10 years). The waitress marched over to my table and verbally berated me for pouring my own coffee. We don't do things that way here, on and on. She ended with *DON'T YOU* ever do that again. Suddenly I didn't feel hungry anymore I tossed 2 bucks on the tabled and said I'm out of here. I heard her call behind me "good riddance, we don't need your kind of customer in here". Updated Review I visited this café yesterday (Monday) to pick up a DoorDash order, and my experience was shockingly different from when I dined in a few months ago. Back then, I was greeted warmly and treated well. However, it seems that if you're not dining in, you're not welcome. When I walked in, not a single staff member acknowledged my presence. Three waitresses were standing just a few feet away, glanced at me briefly, and continued their conversations without so much as a greeting. Even when a kitchen staff member told them to assist me, they ignored the request. After waiting about 15 minutes, one waitress finally asked for the name on the order. She seemed confused while bagging the food and, when she handed it to me, didn't say a single word--no eye contact, no courtesy, just complete coldness. At that moment, I regretted even walking in. It's incredibly unprofessional to make a customer feel unwelcome simply because they're picking up an order instead of dining in. Businesses--especially local ones--thrive on customer support, and how you treat people matters. One bad experience can turn into negative word-of-mouth, which can hurt business in a small town. The lack of basic customer service here is disappointing, especially considering that the staff members are experienced adults. What changed since my last visit? If I could give this place zero stars, I would. You've lost my business, and I hope this café takes the time to train its staff properly because no customer should feel this unwelcome. read more

The food was awesome. I was able to get gluten-free blueberry pancakes and their syrup was warm and not cold and I added a scrambled egg and some bacon coffee and I was set to go. The food is fine for what it is, and the prices are fair. What made the dining experience unpleasant was the ambiance. It's apparently acceptable for the staff to advocate for political causes while on the clock. I support free speech rights, but it's unpleasant to get a side order of sedition along with my steak and eggs. Keep the gadsen flags for personal time, not on the apron worn at work. read more

Pretty standard American diner. Place was very clean and inviting. There was a wait, but they took down phone numbers, and it was only ~10 min, so not too bad. Service was very friendly and prompt, definitely no complaints there! Food is super, super average. Considering that this is Arlington, this is one of the few choices and it's not a bad choice, it's just nothing to write home about and is just simple breakfast fare that you'd find in any diner. * FEELING RACIALLY PROFILED * **** WOULD NEVER RETURN**** (Anna was my server and she provided terrible service. As a foodie, I have never been treated this bad) 1. Customers seat themselves. Written very little on a dry erase board, We stood there in the front for atleast 2 minutes before we saw the writings on the board to seat ourselves. No one even spoke to us. Solution: Have staff seat the customer(s), that way, the customer(s) don't seat themselves at a dirty table like we had to do. 2. Ready to order. The Wait time was approximately 18-20 mins until another waitress told us that our waitress was on her way. Our Waitress walked pass my table 4 times before even acknowledging us. 3. Listen to the customer. After taking the order, the waitress forgot what was ordered, but has an electronic device to record detailed order entries. Even after getting the order, the waitress didn't record the entries on her electronic device as requested by the customer. 4. Missing food. Not only did she mess up my wife's order, but completely forgot to bring mines out to the table. When I sternly questioned her on my food, she replied " you didn't order anything" when I clearly and directly told her that I wanted wings and tots. It appears that she didn't even input my order. She even asked me what flavor for the wings. 5. Manager / Supervisor. I complained to another waitress first, handling at the lowest level, in hopes that she will get Anna to perform like she wanted to be there. That didn't happen! Next, I went to complain to her management. The manager justified her behavior with regards to Anna being new. I then recommended that Anna shadow a more experienced Server to build her confidence. Even still, the manager wanted to debate that she's new and "we do have our new people shadow" but yet she was on her own completely ignoring us. 6. Horrible conclusion. After making the complaints, the Manager didn't check on us and Anna didn't return with my food. Now normally, my wife never ever gets mad, but she was mad. We asked for the check, and another woman brought it out and slammed it on the table. Come to find out, the woman that gave our check was the DISHWASHER! WHAT??? At this point my wife got up and carrying her food and complained about the service. We didn't pay, we would've paid, but instead of hearing more of our complaining, the house paid for our "less than half eaten food." Even though the following may or may not be the case, I felt discriminated against because I am black and my wife is Mexican. read more

Absolutely love the staff here we've been coming for brunch/lunch for 2 years. They always thank my retired parents for their service & everyone is like family. My kiddos love the model cars & classic decorations. The staff are always so sweet & the kitchen staff never disappoint! The food is AMAZING! There seems to be a common theme when it comes to describing the food at this establishment - OLD!! My husband and I came for breakfast and I ended up pouring hot sauce over my eggs like I always do. I know my hot sauce well and immediately noticed the Frank's Red Hot tasted like hot garbage. My husband checked the expiration date on the bottle and it was from 2016. Come on, man! I'm lucky I didn't get much more than a queasy feeling in my stomach. I'm assuming they don't check expiration dates so I won't be going back ever again.
