I personally really like it here, the food is fine, the coffee is fine, the establishment is fine, but it's the feeling that you are with family here. It's the people working here, the family, that make the place special. I've found myself most likely to stop in for coffee and the daily soup, the coffee is what you'd expect, but I've yet to be disappointed with the soup. A perfect spot to take a break and relax for a few.

Eggs are good. Hash browns are good. Country fried steak was good. Biscuit was good. I liked the little bit of butter on it. I don't know what else to say. Oh yeah, they were slammed, so it took a while for us to get our food. However, the waitress came around and filled our coffee over and over again. (like any good diner would, naturally) I quite like the atmosphere, and it's filled with locals. I generally love little diners like this.

We were up in Stanwood for haircuts one morning and decided to stop for some breakfast after we were done. There were a few options around but we decided on The Duck In Cafe. The inside is small but welcoming. There was a small amount of bar seating near the door filled with what I'm assuming were their regulars who were having a great time chatting it up while eating. We were told we could pick a place to sit and we sat near the huge mural on the wall. We enjoyed looking at it and finding all of the small details. Our waitress came to take our order. I ordered The Hunters Special and my husband ordered The Mess. After some time, our food came out piping hot and it was delicious! It's that homey diner food that we really love and we both finished our food with absolutely no complaints. My husband also ordered a coffee which he was great and the waitress constantly kept full. Love that! Speaking of our waitress, she was friendly and did a great job taking care of us and everyone else that was in there. Next time we're in town, we're definitely stopping by!

Food was delicious, prices are fair but service is extremely slow. Do not be in a hurry, very small local favorite.

At a time when the US is trying to get away from all the ugly highly processed foods? When a company feeds me garbage, it doesn't make me feel like I can trust their other ingredients. 1/3 lb burgers. The meat was good, a bit too salty, and not all that mammoth. I would expect half pounders with a name like that. ($60 will get you the Mammouth 1 lb Burger with a pound of fries) I upgraded to the garlic fries. They were plentiful, Lots of garlic, but oversalted--so much so, I left half of them uneaten. That, and because the ketchup was tainted, made me lose my appetite. Solve those two and they would have been delicious. I spoke with the waitress first, She wasn't very receptive. Later I asked to speak to the manager because I really would like to see this be a great restaurant there in Stanwood. Sadly, he wasn't there, and she told me they wouldn't consider changing it even if he was. Good things: nice ambiance. Great small town location. The service wasn't bad. Recommendation: They should stop saving a few pennies by serving awful ingredients at a time when America is aiming at a new health motto: "Eat real food."

Five months ago, on a Saturday or Sunday, my boyfriend and I had lunch at The Baked Cafe. The burgers were good, the buns were mediocre, and the fries were outstanding. The meal was over $40, without drinks. The owner was the only person working. After reading other reviews, we expected a wait, but over a half hour was excessive. There are only two booths, and we were lucky to get one. Because of this, you may end up taking your food to go or eating outside. I left a honest review after our experience, and the owner responded (more like reacted) quite unprofessionally. He mentioned Wednesdays; we were not there on a Wednesday. He mentioned that if we prefer "nutty" (it's Nutty's) or "five guy" (it's Five Guys), that he "felt sorry" for us. Well, I won't feel sorry for him when his business fails.

I think I've reviewed the burger before and maybe the sandwiches but today it's about the tots. Best tots in WA. Anyway there's plenty of seating around the bakery we just happen to get things to go on the way off island.

My server was very pleasant, but I can't really say that she did as well as she could've. For example, I ordered the cheeseburger and added onions. It must have sat for a little bit in the kitchen, because it was barely warm when it arrived, minus the onions. My server was at the table behind me, chatting, and very slowly taking the order of two women who must've been locals she knew. I was patient for a while, but eventually tapped her on the shoulder and asked her to talk to me when she finished taking their order. Meanwhile, my cheeseburger continued to get colder. When she finally finish baking their order, she turned me, and I mentioned that I had asked for onions on the burger. She nodded, and then she went to the bar, proceeded to restock the cooler, and did other tasks. At this point, the burger is cold. I push it away from me, and I am going to ask them to take it off the bill. I had not taken a bite, mind you. Another server comes over and asked if I would like a box. II told him it was cold, did not have the requested onions on it, and I had no interest in it whatsoever. He apologized profusely and said they are happy to make me another. I usually do not like to send back food to the kitchen, but I made an exception in this case. In a reasonable time, someone who I guess was the kitchen manager brought over a freshly cooked burger. There were onions, but they were finally diced, which I don't understand, because they just kept falling out of the burger. Why wouldn't you just put in a slice? The burger was overcooked and not well seasoned and at the end of the day, I thought the food was rather mediocre. This place gets an extra star because my original server did come over and sincerely apologize for the issues with the food. Nevertheless, it is not a place I would come back to. Maybe best left to the locals.

When I entered, I was immediately greeted with a smile and a welcome, which felt good. I drove an hour to get there and it just set the tone right away. I was low-key impressed and thankful to have a friendly bartender, as the last time I went (2 yrs. Ago) I felt the service wasn't the best. This was a different bartender. I asked about their brews and was informed they'd switched a bit. So, I ordered the Hazy and the Blonde, both of which are brewed in-house by SAAL. They were. both great. Good body on the IPA and almost no bitterness. The blonde was good too, although blondes aren't my typical go-to personally, so maybe I'm not the best judge of that. The owner came and spoke with me for a minute about their business and how 2020 had inspired them to brew the Hazy. I think it's called "All Love" or something similar, and it had something to do with the riots of 2020 and how we needed more love in the world. I dunno, felt inspired. It was a good conversation and I felt that the owner is passionate about what he does. Which I really liked. A business I want to support. The poutine I ordered was good but not great. I don't usually order poutine so I had low expectations but it just feels like it's just in the menu for the sake of being on the menu. Nothing felt inspired or original and this dish would benefit greatly from a little recipe switch up. Maybe use a better gravy and crispier fries? It could be great. This didn't detract from the experience for me, as like I said, I had no expectations from the food. I just wanted something to stave off the hunger until I got home.

I came for the food -- in my case a Reuben sandwich stuffed to the gills -- and coleslaw, though obviously most people choose fries in one of the available variants. The food was promised for 15-minutes, but took less than 10 -- I like it when promises are kept or even exceeded.
