Superb coffee cafe in the heart of El Segundo with a ton of charm, great service and good coffee; not the best I've ever had but good and worth the stop. If you've got some downtime before picking people up from the LA airport and feel like waiting in a relaxing environment then I strongly suggest coming here. It was an 8 minute drive to the main terminal. Parking was a little tricky although try parking in the backside of the building as there's also a back entrance to the coffee shop. I tried the blue butterfly tea latte and honestly it wasn't for me. I guess it tasted how it sounded like. A blue blended tea beverage with milk and rose but I couldn't taste any rose. Over all my beverage. It was kind of disappointing. Thought I should try what they're known for. Parking: Street parking. I parked few blocks away on a Saturday afternoon. Was in the neighborhood with a friend and walked to Blue Butterfly one early Saturday morning. The coffee shop was bustling and there was a line to order, but they were turning out drinks, pastries and hot dishes in a very timely manner. It's a cozy little cafe with a brick aesthetic. Their vast selection of pastries are displayed behind a thick layer of glass on the counter. They offer outdoor seating and there is a whole other section of seating next door when the main cafe is crowded. My friend recommended the espresso dul'sal, which is made with Black Lava Sea Salt, and my kiddo got a blueberry-ube kouign amann (not sure of the exact name). Both the drink and pastry were delicious; the espresso was so creamy and the sea salt cut through the sweetness, and there was real ube inside the pastry. Each morning we went here, there was always a line almost out the door. They have a nice variety of items on their menu and A LOT of pastry options in display in their display case too. For me, I'm just a black ice tea drinker...boring...but they have an extensive drink menu for those of you that have desires of the fancy stuff. Ice tea for me 24/7. We decided to stop by this coffee shop on a Saturday afternoon. They have a great selection of coffee, teas, and Matcha. We ordered the Spanish latte and the Matcha with strawberry cold foam. The Latte was delicious but the matcha only has a sprinkle of cold foam. I was very disappointed. The coffee shop itself is small and has a patio in the back. Cute little atmosphere. Came multiple mornings while visiting the city and definitely had some yummy beverages. The Spanish latte and good ole latte can't do you wrong. I did try the espresso da Sal (spell check me here) the salt, non ironically, was too salty. Even with the coffee to cut the taste, my tongue only had lingering hints of the salt so to each their own with that one in particular. I will definitely return when I come back in the future. Wow--the vanilla latte here was incredible! It had the perfect balance of creaminess, sweetness, and rich coffee flavor. The avocado toast was generously layered with some of the freshest slices I've ever had from a café, and every bite tasted just as vibrant as it looked. The pastries were fantastic as well--especially the classic croissant, which was perfectly flaky, buttery, and simple in the best way. I also love that their coffee beans are roasted locally at their roastery just down the street--it's the perfect take-home treat if you want to bring the Blue Butterfly experience with you. The staff was warm and genuinely helpful--the kind of people who make you want to stick around. So we did. The tall male cashier was rude from the moment I approached the counter. There was no greeting, he pointed at items with his finger while avoiding eye contact, and when I asked about a menu item, he simply told me to read the menu myself. What made the experience even worse was watching him be friendly and engaging with the customer before me and with many customers after me while I was dining in. The wait in line gives you just the right amount of time to appreciate the display of pastries and bread. The girl that took my order was kind to help me narrow my choices despite being so busy. I ordered a flat white, morning bun, and chicken artichoke sandwich. I loved the bold aromatic flavor of their espresso which paired nicely with the delicately sweet morning bun. I'm no restaurateur so would venture to assume that their small kitchen/prep stations lead to some of these awkwardly long wait times for something as simple as avocado toast, but they always seem amply staff and all customers have just come to accept the long as heck wait times. They've opened up an entire seating space next door which has helped the crowds in their OG space. I brought my parents here who were visiting from out of town (despite the wait times) because it is truly a cute little neighborhood breakfast and lunch spot.
