We stopped by Bluestone Lane on the Fourth of July weekend, so we expected a long wait because the café was packed. To our surprise, we were seated almost immediately at a clean table, even though we were with a child. The service was friendly, attentive, and everything came out much faster than we expected. The food looked just as good as it tasted. The smoked salmon and avocado toast was fresh and perfectly balanced, the spinach breakfast wrap was light but filling, and the yogurt bowl with fresh berries made a great addition to the meal. The coffee was excellent, and the iced matcha was refreshing on a warm day. The atmosphere is bright, relaxed, and perfect for a slow breakfast or brunch near the beach. It was incredibly busy, and it felt like the server had completely forgotten about us until I got up and asked for an update on our food almost 45 min after ordering. Avocado toast was soggy as if it had been sitting out for hours. BL big brekkie was served on toast, also soggy from sitting under the flavorless spinach and mushroom mix. Bacon on the dish tasted worse than what you'd get at a cheap model continental breakfast. The plain black coffee served in a glass jar with no handle. Imagine my surprise when I nearly burned my fingers off picking it up to pour in the cup. The eggs were cooked perfectly, and the Avo Smash was especially fresh and absolutely delicious! The service made our visit even more memorable. Isaac provided outstanding service and was incredibly friendly, attentive, and welcoming. Uriel, the manager, was also wonderful and made sure we were well taken care of. Such a cute spot right in the middle of Manhattan beach. The beet latte was surprisingly and amazingly delicious. Who knew this vegetable would make sense as a latte and not just a smoothie? The first sip was a bit odd but once your brain gets over the connection, I swear it's basically like a rose milk tea but beet flavored and a bit heavier in texture. Definitely give it a try! I definitely thought the matcha pancakes looked like those fluffy Japanese ones in the photo and was extremely disappointed that they weren't. That's my mistake so don't make the same one. They were super flat and a little on the dry side. But the picture definitely shows a difference even in the presentation- no orchid and no raspberries. The matcha ricotta sauce felt like the pancake batter and gave a tiny bit of sweetness to the pancakes but it was not an appetizing pour. Anyways, you've been warned! The service is great and the space is so welcoming. You can order with the QR code on the table and the drinks and food arrived pretty quickly. I came here twice while I was staying in Manhattan Beach for a few days. The location is great and the place has a nice vibe. The first time, I ordered a green juice and a burrito. The burrito tasted good, though I wish I had added more protein. Overall, it was solid and enjoyable. The second visit was a bit disappointing. I ordered a breakfast bowl, but it wasn't great. The kale was very tough and hard to chew, and the bowl ended up being extremely kale-heavy with only a small amount of quinoa and just one egg. I couldn't finish most of it because of that. The coffee was okay, nothing special. Food-wise, I'd give it about a 3.5-star rating, but I do want to mention that the guy who served me was really nice and friendly, which definitely made the experience better. read more

Everyone inside was very friendly and gracious, and getting a table for breakfast on a Saturday morning wasn't much of a hassle. The whole menu is pretty simple featuring many breakfast items like eggs and pancakes as well as lunch-facing sandwiches and salads. The menu carefully keeps things simple but teases you with tempting gourmet ingredients. I went for simple hotcakes which came with a lemon butter and fruit topping. The coffee here is surprisingly good and there's a huge variety of coffee options. Some of items on the menu suggest that the restaurant features Australian items though nothing (aside from vegemite) seemed too challenging.
