Blue Butterfly is one of my go-to coffee spots. Seems like every time I visit it gets a bit more unwelcoming. I am shocked at the customer service. Every time the service seems bitter and feels judgy by their tone when ordering regardless of a line or no line. Also, what is going on with the cup lids. I purchased 3 hot drinks and they all fell off and spilled, no one offered a partial refund or replacement or even offered to help with it falling on the ground. Something has to change with the service and lids. read more

We came on Black Friday (google and yelp both said it was open), and it was closed. Plus, parking is a nightmare. We parked in the garage and it was terrible. Only one exit for the public and it's a maze trying to find that one exit. Another visit to this place 7/7/26 had me sampling their Avocado Toast with black salt, or Kala Namak, which is a mineral-rich rock salt prized in Ayurvedic medicine for its digestive properties. It naturally contains trace minerals like iron, magnesium, and potassium, as well as sulfur compounds that give it a unique savory aroma/taste. C'est magnifique . I also sampled their Morning Bun, and Coffee Cake. Delicious treats to say the least. I'm always satisfied with their drip coffee, but do occasionally order a latte. Tasty, tasty, tasty . Their service is excellent, and they're unusually well staffed, when compared to their competitors. This facility in particular is always jumping. The energy is light, airy, and inviting. Definitely my new favorite spot, and that doesn't happen easily. It takes several visits to an establishment, and consistently good/quality service, as well as attention to even the smallest of details, before it gets deemed "The Spot". A group of 5 of us had breakfast on a Saturday mid-morning. There was a small line, but it wasn't too long. I got the breakfast bowl with a scrambled egg. It was pretty good. Friends got the maple fluffy egg sando, egg wrap, fruit smoothie. The Americano coffee was delicious. Everyone really enjoyed it. We sat at the big table out front and it was cool but sunny . We came here after having lunch up the street. We entered the coffee shop and it is so nice . They have some cool painted skateboards hung up on their walls. Anyways we went to order and I ordered an iced brown sugar latte and my husband ordered a cappuccino. I appreciate the fact that they have a display how many shots of espresso are in each drink. I thought that was very smart. They have some seating area inside the place but they also have a very cute seating area outside. The outside area has some very beautiful plants . Service was very good, we didn't have to wait long for our drinks. I really enjoyed my brown sugar latte it was not overly sweet and had the right amount of espresso (coffee) . My husband also liked his cappuccino. He did say it was the hottest drink he's ever had , but that is a good thing. Nothing is worse than getting a cold cappuccino or coffee. After waiting several minutes to even be acknowledged or approached -I'd forgot I was waiting. Meanwhile the cashier approached the register and still didn't acknowledge me. Had an afternoon work session here with a friend and overall had a good experience. They have a surprisingly large space - there is the main storefront where you order, and has tables and a bathroom inside, but then there's a small patio in the back, a lot of tables out on the sidewalk in front, and an entire second storefront that is only tables. I legit saw a lot of drinks on the menu that I was contemplating (a great sign!), but ultimately got the Barboleta blended ice drink, which was refreshing. The staff are friendly and work fast, and even offered us the extra of the drink we had ordered (otherwise they would toss it). Didn't get to try the food, but the baked goods section looked good! That being said, the main storefront was hot as Hades - I felt so bad for the employees. Not sure why this was, but it was legit a furnace and much hotter than outside. So it made it very uncomfortable to stay in that area, and we decided to work outside. Which meant being too far from the wifi router to be able to use their wifi (although it seems from the other reviews that the wifi is spotty to begin with). read more

Cool little coffee shop in downtown El Segundo. It was pretty packed when I went, but the service was friendly and quick. I got an iced latte with oat milk - nothing special aka not bad but not delicious either. I got a gluten free pumpkin bread. The texture is pretty good considering it's gluten free but there's not much flavor. Something that I really didn't appreciate was that the screen that shows your total before adding tip is NOT accurate. It's the subtotal - so I ended up getting taxed on my tip. That's pretty sneaky! Street parking is pretty easy since there's free 2 hour parking along the whole street. The ambiance is cool but a bit hectic. Best cafe spot near LAX. Known for their amazing croissant section and blue butterfly lattes, this is definitely a hidden gem. The El Segundo is a cute spot to walk around and filled with many locals. Locals a great place to study with tons of indoor outside as well as a lot of outlets. We go the Butterfly tea latte, which is a really gentle flavor and really satisfying. It has a very floral flavor with the butterfly and rose syrup which compliments the tea really nicely. It's not too sweet, which makes it a perfect drink to get in the mornings. The Expresso dul'sal is a phenomenal drink. I totally understand why it's one of their top best sellers. The black lava salt is super strong and amplifies the coffee flavor so well. In addition, the coffee is super smooth and light and is probably one of the better coffees I have had ever. The service here is amazing and I really appreciate workers who are knowledgeable and have an easy-going vibe. We had a great experience here. Based on the cashier's recommendation, we ended up getting the banana bread, which is honestly one of the best banana bread I've ever gotten at a cafe spot. It tastes homemade and you can tell that it was baked fresh. We also got the cheddar onion bagel, which was phenomenal. There are pieces of onion in it and it tastes amazing! If you love onion and cheese, this is the best bagel to get here. We will definitely be back anytime we are up in LA to try their extensive menu including the croissants (they have a pistachio matcha!) Not sure how parking is later in the day but they only have street parking so keep that in mind. read more

Came here again and this time I ordered the Sunrise Sandwich on toast because they ran out of English muffins. It was yummy still. :) Also got my favorite drink there called the Mariposa. My fiancee got the breakfast burrito and I tried a bite. It was healthy and delicious! He also got their delicious fresh squeezed lemonade. This place also has a really good asiago bagel and I didn't order one to eat for lunch but I always take one to go to eat at home later. I love this place. :D Always good food and service. read more

It was a rainy day and this place was packed, like line out the door packed. We ordered an Americano and a drip coffee and hoped to find a place to sit. We were able to get a table after waiting a few minutes. The coffee was delicious and the staff were polite and friendly as they served guest after guest non stop for the entire hour that we were there. The food looked delicious but we'll have to try it next time. My only con would be that they don't use mugs for dine in only paper cups; I prefer my coffee in a mug. read more

TLDR: thinking about trying the Iced Vanilla Latte? Would try something else next time. I had heard such positive things about this coffee shop and was so excited to try it. The croissants inside looked incredible (would get the chocolate one next time, hehe) but I resisted temptation and ordered the Iced Vanilla Latte with oat milk. I'm not sure what made this coffee taste a little strange, but it wasn't my favorite. It was for a good price, and the staff inside were very friendly, but I would try something else next time. In downtown El Segundo there are many places to grab a coffee! This little coffee shop has been a staple on Main Street! Right in the heart of downtown across from the library and near the fire station. The locals know this is the place to go. When you visit this place you find all ages of people hanging out: some socializing, while others working! The menu offers quite a number drinks! Like most coffee shops you can find coffee, tea and alternative drinks on the menu. They even have signature drinks! I got a Spanish coffee that was very well balanced and temperate was spot on! As for seating: the coffee shop is not large. There is some seating inside. Very limited and a bit tight. Additional seating can be found outside on the sidewalk. As for parking, usually there is plenty of parking on the streets. Just watch the signs as most parking is just two hours. If you are looking for a coffee or tea, I recommend this place! read more

I stumbled upon this place as I was in El Segundo. The place has ample seating -- both inside and outside. I saw many people doing work on their computers and enjoying their time. I also like how they are open pretty late compared to other coffee shops. I got a latte with vanilla foam and it was really good -- you can choose which flavor foam you would like on your drink which is a really cool way to customize your drink. I was not able to try the sandwiches here but I did try a cinnamon coffee cake which honestly wasn't the best and pretty dry. I do want to come back and try their other pastries. Flew into LAX and my friend recommended to try this place. She had never been here herself, but someone she knows had told her about it. We pull up to street parking, and see a small line peeking out the door. About 7 people or so. We see the pastries in the counter and they look yummy! HOWEVER- there were flies flying all around them! We counted at least 3. So we said okay no pastries for us let's just get a breakfast sandwich and a drink. We approach the cashier and she was not friendly. Just seemed annoyed and overwhelmed, not wanting to answer our questions. We found a spot out back and it was not the vibe. Tables are old and dirty and you can hear the constant flush of their bathroom. The Matcha was not that good and not cold enough for an iced drink. It wasn't awful but I didn't finish it and definitely wouldn't recommend. Their bagel sandwich wasn't bad, a bit heavy on the cream cheese but that's just my preference. I believe the bagel was also from their fly infested counter so I was a bit hesitant to try. But What was awful was the hair I found in it! So gross! See photo. Would not be back. Friend felt so bad to recommend. Went to wash our hands on the way out and the bathroom is so gross! It really makes you wonder how the staff's hygiene is if they think the bathroom is acceptable. Now, the beans are burned, the aftertaste is bad, and coffee is extremely bitter. I noticed it for the first time on Dec 2024, but I thought it was just once. The staff were so friendly and considerate. They helped me and my friends pick out some food and drinks since we were a bit indecisive and even let me change the breading option for a sandwich with no extra charge or fees. I was honestly surprised that the food and drinks actually tasted really good.
