A friend purchased a Tres Leches cake for her husband for his birthday. It was awful. I couldn't finish one bite.

THEY FORGOT TO BAKE MY WEDDING CAKE. And 4 weeks later, still have not provided me a full refund,…read moreeven after promising to do so. Countless email exchanges and multiple texts have been made between myself and the owner, Dennis Stanley, and still I find myself not financially whole. The least they can do is return what I paid. As I will never be truly whole.. for the wedding cake was what I was looking forward to the most, and the realization it would not be coming left me in tears. To do this to a bride and then have her continuously email for restitution and provide TERRIBLE communication is a truly awful thing to do. ***DO NOT USE THIS BUSINESS*** And in general, their communication is terrible. They don't answer the phone and you have to email 2 or 3 times before they respond. Weddings are already expensive and stressful -- do yourself a favor and don't add to it by using Chantel's Bakery. EDIT AFTER OWNER COMMENT: Chantel's Bakery never reached out to me after the credit card did not go through. Actually, the opposite. I emailed Chantel's two days after the in-person meeting informing them that my credit card had not been charged and asked when it would be. I NEVER RECEIVED A RESPONSE. It was not until the morning of my wedding did I receive a PayPal invoice, in which was paid within 3 hours of receipt. Maybe a planner would have been helpful in completing additional follow-ups with the business WHICH IS CLEARLY REQUIRED, so that I didn't have to be the one to realize the cake was missing. However, a business should establish some sort of organization that would allow them not to forget an order IN THE FIRST PLACE. The sad fact is that Dennis told me that the error should have never happened it was entirely their fault and he would provide a FULL REFUND which he has failed to do. They may not have time to complete your order or follow through on promises made, but they sure do have time to falsely respond to negative reviews. Again, I repeat DO NOT USE THIS BUSINESS.

It's even smaller, and in a tiny random, not where you would expect to find bakery! It has a tiny display of fresh pastries, shelf full of fresh baked breads and freezer full of more breads! Service is great, always with a smile. We tried a little bit of everything and ended up going back a couple of days later for some fresh bread. Finding good, like good gf bread is really hard. Most times literally hard. Got the brioche buns and was impressed for gf buns! Yes they still fell apart. Yes they weren't as soft as traditional brioche, but they were good for gf buns. I love their ham and cheese croissant. It's greasy, I prefer it cold, my kid only likes it warmed up. Donut is by far the best gf cake style donut we've ever had. It's light, flavor is incredible, moist. I typically skip gf cake donuts, but this one was calling to me, so happy we got it. Cinnamon roll was not good. Frosting had zero sugar. It was hard as a rock, so no one wanted to eat it. But as most gf cinnamon rolls, you have to eat them within a few hours, so this one could have just been too old. There's a decent amount of gluten free bakeries scattered across the DMV area, but this is by far the best for bread! The best variety, fresh and frozen. If they sell out of something you can count on they'll have a back up of something similar. Also. surprised to see complaining about prices..... I actually think they aee cheap for gluten free items!

Nevertheless I never had an issue when I went. I thought the ambiance was very nice. The seating is cute and when you order "for here" they serve you in a very cute mug. I've had the red eye and the coconut chai. I didn't know this until after the fact: the coconut chai does not include coconut milk only coconut flakes. The space is unique and cozy, filled with romantic decor that makes it feel like home. The food and pastries are just as amazing as the atmosphere. I tried their rose latte, topped with delicate rose petals. It was so pretty and uniquely flavorful. I've also tried their pesto poulet sandwich (baguette, pesto chicken, tomato, green pepper, and mozzarella cheese) and it was super yum! The chocolate hazelnut pastry is a perfect companion for the coffee, and you can ask for your pastry to be warmed up, which is even better. Bonus: they serve the coffee in a cute mug, which is such a nice touch. Love when I can have my coffee in a mug! Employees are nice, and the service is great! Plenty of seating and parking is easy. This café is perfect for a relaxed morning, brunch, or an afternoon treat. I am already planning my next visit!

The setup is similar to Paris Baguette. There are trays to place your items and paper liners to put on the trays. I walked around the self-serve area trying to decide what to get. My husband noticed a doughnut with some filling and said he wanted it. The signs that are next to the items aren't very easy to see, so we never did figure out what the filling in his doughnut was. I chose a pre-wrapped doughnut that was filled with vanilla cream. We decided to take our pastries home, and the cashier gladly bagged them. As for the doughnuts, my husband said he liked the mystery filling in his but couldn't figure out exactly what it was. The vanilla cream filling in mine had a nice vanilla flavor and was light and creamy. As other Yelpers mentioned, there is seating available for those who wish to eat their goodies there. The seating area felt somewhat cramped. We have no regrets giving Tous Les Jours a try. Yet, at the same time, we're in no rush to return.
