Parsa Bakery never disappoints. I stopped in to try their New Year cookies and the flavors were wonderful. Each one tasted fresh and perfectly balanced, not overly sweet, just rich and satisfying. You can tell a lot of care goes into the baking. The textures were great and the variety made it fun to try a few different ones. If you enjoy traditional New Year cookies with authentic flavor, this place is definitely worth a visit. read more

This is a specialty Persian bakery so they might not carry some of the regular pastries that you are used to. I was a little unaware of that but I still found some interesting goodies. I purchased a half pound of zafons and half pound of almond sour treats to bring home with me. The guy actually explained to me the story behind the zafron plant which is the main ingredient for the zafrons. It's a small part of a flower that is only grown in the middle east, and the people need to extricate a very small portion of the flower in order to get the base flour ingredient. It's an interesting bakery to be sure, and they also sell quite a few other products besides baked goods, from the Middle East. read more

The young owner of this well stocked little spot is welcoming and helpful. A large colorful selection of fresh treats awaits in the case and if you haven't had something yet, ask, he will be happy to share that he likes that one and when you take a bite you will be a fan as well. Get a Turkish coffee to go, now with your sweets packed up you are well equipped for that long trek home on the gridlock express. Instead of being miserable you can snack and drink your yummy coffee in the comfortable car while listening to your favorite music. If you can't be home at least you can enjoy the trip. read more

Parsa is a great spot for Middle Eastern treats. Specifically Persian / Iranian, they have lots a great ingredients, some of which are hard to find even at places like Whole Foods. It's brightly lit, clean, and easy to access. The staff are friendly and helpful. Most impressive is their selection of sweet treats, including all kinds of baklava. We always get a small (sometimes big) box to take home. read more

It's too bad the service has gone downhill over the last year or so. The pastries are good but not worth being treated like you are an inconvenience to the owner (I believe she is the daughter of this family owned establishment). Every time I come in here lately the customer service is lacking. No friendly greeting and no thanks for my patronage. Today I waited for several minutes with no staff to be seen. Other customers walked out empty handed as I waited patiently. Then said young lady appears talking on her cell phone and she ask if I needed something. No apology for the wait. She rushes me through my choices with asking if that was all after every single selection! It's too bad since I intended to purchase much more for an upcoming Labor Day gathering. I paid and left. Not a single thank you. Last week, the same young lady proceeded to help customers who arrived after me to the pastry counter by telling me (not asking if I would mind) that she would be right with me as soon as she helps the other customers with their "quick" purchases. I normally would not mind however I was yet again met with dismal customer service. No greeting, a rushed interaction, a snooty demeanor, and not a single thank you after spending a large sum. She behaves as though the customer is an inconvenience to her and you as the customer are privileged to be able to purchase her pastries. These are just two examples of my most recent experience with this bakery. The business is expanding with an addition of a sit down cafe. I think maybe they have taken on more than they can handle and unfortunately the customer service is suffering as a result. I will no longer give them my business or referrals. There are far too many options in Northern Virginia area to settle for this type of treatment. read more

Today was the first time that I had an opportunity to visit this brand new bakery located in Mclean. They specialize in persian delicacies, bit I also found out that they offer a variety of European pastures as well. The nice person behind the counter told me that they have their own bakery and kitchen located downstairs in the basement. After he told me that, I started to wonder how many other bakeries actually prepare and bake their own pastries When you walk into the store, you are able to see their wonderful displays of exotic food items like, sauces, jellies,and some other European canned food goods. I splurged a little bit this afternoon and ordered 12 macarons and 6 cream puffs. These were all Persian delicacies. Yesterday, Thanksgiving morning, was my second visit to the store. (The first visit was back in March for NoRooz.) I purposely waited until Thanksgiving morning so that I could bring fresh, Persian cookies and pastries to a Friendsgiving lunch nearby. The Persian cookies and pastries were a hit! Guests even passed on pie and other traditional Thanksgiving desserts in favor of the Persian cookies and pastries! The store is very clean and organized. The cookies and pastries are fresh, authentic, delicious, and reasonably priced. Best of all, the young lady working there - I'm not sure whether she's the owner and/or manager - is friendly, attentive, and willing and able to answer questions. She speaks both English and Farsi perfectly. (My Farsi is bad; so I don't feel comfortable speaking it. Also, if you look to be of Iranian heritage, you don't get the "are you Persian?"/"do you speak Farsi?"/"were you born here?"/"where are your parents from?" questions here that you get at other Persian-related establishments. If you speak to her in English, she'll answer you in English. If you speak to her in Farsi, she'll answer you in Farsi.) She also took great care in packing my items. I believe Yekta Market in Rockville is distantly related to Parsa, but I prefer Parsa. I won't wait until NoRooz to return. read more

Omg FANTASTIC sweet treats from Parsa Bakery. I stopped in today for the first time and chatted with the owner. I asked her to load me up with a few of her favorites that i was bringing home to share and all got rave reviews. I especially loved the cream puff and the pistachio baklava (I think it was). Family couldn't get enough of the roll shown on the right. Such a great local business to support and they also had a guitarist/singer there setting a great vibe! read more

Absolutely obsessed! Found this little "gem," in McLean while searching online for a local Persian Bakery. I needed to bring dessert for a Persian dinner party, and happened to find Parsa Bakery. Not only were the pastries to die for, they were so delicious, and a big HIT! Thank you Parsa Bakery-the staff there was super welcoming, sweet, and super helpful in creating such a beautiful dessert box. I went for the first time to Parsa Bakery on the 10th and picked up a few goodies- cream puffs, a napolean, traditional baklava, and chocolate baklava. All were fresh and delicious! The prices were very reasonable and the customer service was very considerate and kind. Parking was so easy too! I would highly recommend you try this new bakery out! read more

I visited for the first time today -- I went to Chain Bridge Cellars, and I noticed the word "Bakery"! I'll be going back to sample the sweets--because the rows of little cookies looked amazing-- but today I bought beautiful round flat breads -- one with sesame seeds, one with poppy. Made in house. In the refrigerator section, I found a creamy feta cheese spread. Guess what I had for lunch today. Yummy! Wonderful light touch with the bread! read more

Dropped by on a whim and was not disappointed -- this is a classic patisserie shop offering a great selection of traditional pastries and confectionaries -- including Persian delicacies such as zulbia. In addition, there is an excellent selection of teas, coffees, and spices for sale, as well as gourmet basmati rice blends and other kitchen essentials. Really hope to see this place thrive, but it will have to beat the odds to stay open in McLean, particularly across from Liedl. read more

I dropped by Parsa yesterday and Sara, the owner, was very warm and friendly. I told her that it was my first time in her store and that I was giving myself a reward for swimming a mile that morning! I loved everything I got (a jam cookie, Swiss role, a cream puff and a walnut baklava - yes, I know but it was a whole mile!!). Parsa has been open for about a year. It is owned by the Parsa family. Absolutely wonderful people who make you feel like you've known them for years. Warm and inviting personalities, mom, daughter and son. Serving the best pastries for miles around! The cream in the puffs is the real thing, not some plasticky imitation dairy product. Several baklava's to choose from and each sooo good! Their flatbread is incredible and is delicious toasted with eggs! There is so much more! I decided to stop my on my way home and was not disappointed. Ali was so helpful and explained all the pastries and even let me try some. My daughter loves the chocolate croissants, cookies and flourless brownies, as I do the standard croissant. My review was more out of disappointment as I was excited to and looking forward to joining the club. And I was frustrated at my inability to join the club. What makes my updated review 4 stars. We do love the pastry items we get, when I ever order a pastry they always grab them from the fresh pastries from the rack and not the ones on display to give the customer the best experience. As for the latte, as I saw in other reviews and have noticed myself, and often in the times I have went, notice new employees on a few times. The person who helped me and made my lattes was very polite and helpful, she may be new to lattes, practice makes perfect. I use to drink lattes almost daily and have not had one in a few years and was super excited to have a latte again. Also walking in I noticed they remodeled and change the configuration of the counter to allow for a nice indoor seating area. Lastly I have heard of My Dads Chips and had wanted to find a place that had them. I have bought these chips here and these are now my family's favorite chips and we order them by the box from My Dads Chips. When o left I opened my latte and it had something o would not consider froth, it had large bubbles and had no smoothness. I asked for both lattes to have vanilla. She only did the iced with vanilla. The Iced latte, being in a clear container you could see the milk on the bottom it came up about half way. It was not mixed and all you could taste was the milk with a hint of vanilla. I would compare the hot latte to one that you can make in an office coffee machine that has packets. It was very weak. Your pastries are good but my god I am glad that I didn't join the club even if the first month is free. On top of that even though she said she would give me the discount, she charged me full price. I would have complained but I have a lot of fatigue as I have stage iv cancer and just completed 39 radiation sessions. Will be back for pasties and desserts, but your coffee products with the experience I had today was vending machine quality.

Since we were back in the area for a DMV for a brief visit we knew exactly where we were stopping before heading to the airport. Hubs ordered his usual sausage, egg and cheese sandwich , and I ordered the bacon egg and cheese breakfast sandwich along with an iced mocha. I had completely forgotten they have a Starbucks on-site with a limited menu. Of course, I couldn't leave without grabbing a cookie and a chocolate croissant for later. The food arrived fresh, hot, and exactly as expected. The staff is always friendly and personable. You see professionals, students and the locals coming in and out, but there is seating available. Conversations are at a minimum and despite the attached restaurant you can still hear yourself and the other person without yelling. One thing I appreciate about Best Buns is the consistency. Whether it's been months or years between visits, the quality never seems to change. The sandwiches are flavorful, the ingredients taste fresh, and nothing feels like it was sitting around waiting to be reheated. Everything is prepared to order, and you can taste the difference. My sandwich disappeared one bite at a time, and Hubs completely demolished his croissant sandwich without hesitation. That's usually all the confirmation I need. Some restaurants are good. Some are memorable, but there are the places that become part of your routine whenever you're back in town. Best Buns has earned that status for us. Five stars earned! Consistently fresh. Consistently delicious. We'll be dropping in on another turn and burn later this month...
