Moving here from California the one type of food I really miss, besides CA burritos, are the "healthy" Mexican food adjacent spots. Rubios, Wahoo's Fish tacos, and the ever elusive Baja Fresh. Blue Coast Burrito really scratches that CA coastal food itch. Everything is fresh, made to order and completely customizable. I ordered a Baja fish burrito which has the filling of a fish taco; fried fish, fresh cabbage and a spicy tarter sauce. This burrito was fully loaded and delicious, but I could have used some extra hot sauce. The fish pieces inside were huge and perfectly fried. I tried a bite of my wife's steak taco salad and it was a tad salty, but I think she added the salt her self. The steak pieces where huge and there were a lot of them. The kids chicken taco meal could easily be a meal for an adult with the addition of rice and beans, it's a perfect lunch. We will definitely be back to sample more of the menu and get that small, but tasty CA foodie recharge. read more

Where do we start ' 1st is this really meant to be a Mexican themed fast food restaurant? This establishment was dirty ' food on the floor along with trash ( table waste ) behind the front counter food on the floor ' the equipment was dirty and covered in grease and dirt ( when was the stove cleaned last ? )Food cooking on the stove unattended and the employees standing around on their phones taking pictures of each other . The food was cold and the tortillas soggy and stale from being left out of their store bought wrappers . Where's the fresh in house tortillas? The fresh proteins not premade sitting out uncovered behind the glass partition? If you're looking for something better ' I suggest " Taco Bell " . Chipotle & Babakoo's has nothing to worry about !! And would have been the wiser choice . If you're a blue coast Burrito connoisseur' I think it's time for a change . Blue coast rarely disappoints. I wish my food came out a little warmer but it was super flavorful. I got my burrito bowl to go and since you get free chips and salsa it ultimately turns into nachos. I typically get the spicy chicken, not bc it's spicy, but bc I love the flavors. This time I got the streak, it was just ok. I ordered it with guacamole but it wasn't included. I ordered it via Uber ears so i was a bit disappointed when i didn't see the guacamole. Whether you want to eat in or take it out I would recommend eating here; however order the spicy chicken over steak. read more

Meh - at best. I kind of used to really like this place - especially the Baja fish tacos. Could have been an off day. Basically, I could have gone to Aldi or Kroger and bought a box of frozen fish sticks and either baked them in the oven or do what these seemed to be - microwaved. Then gone to the Hispanic aisle and find the corn tortillas that expired a couple of weeks ago - you know - the ones that fall apart once folded and dump the contents in your lap - but they did give two on each taco, but they both fell apart. Now cut the fish stick in a few pieces, add a little shredded cabbage - some sauce and whatever else - plenty of napkins to clean up the mess - saved myself about 6 bucks. They were bad - honestly - bad. I ate about one and gave up. I got them to go, so it was too far to return. It's going to be awhile before I give it another go. read more

The burritos here are superb. Once I ordered tacos and regretted it. Order a burrito. I prefer the steak. Only once was my rice dry, and they apparently dont pay enough to keep staff around for very long, otherwise they would get an All Star rating. The atmosphere is surfer dude Cali style. Perfect. I was so looking forward to some Baja style tacos but we did not even finish our food. The food looked like it had been sitting out all day but we ordered anyways since it says "fresh". We asked for chicken and this is where things took a turn...the girl making our food got a cup of water and dumped it in the chicken seemingly to "freshen" things up. We got fish tacos and watched them pull the fish right out of the freezer...After a few bites of our burritos and tacos we decided not to risk getting sick and threw the food away. I went up to Mt. Juliet for the fireworks show this year and grabbed dinner for the fam at several places, including Blue Coast. As far as food goes this was pretty much the same as you expect: the meat is watery, they don't know how to cook corn tortillas, and the guacamole is mostly avocado (man, does it need onions, cilantro, jalapeno and tomatoes in it!) It is filling and tasty enough with the salsa bar. Not tasty like Chipotle, but on par with Moe's. Customer service was fine. Two guys in polos, which I took to be managers were fast enough and accurate. Nothing special. In and out. It was a holiday so that's fine. Overall, what I expect with Blue Coast. One of my favorites. There are lots of options for burritos these days, but Blue Coast has my vote for best steak burritos. They are generous with the free cheese, lettuce, onions, pico, etc. To make a nice big fat one as big as you like. We did curbside pickup and the manager brought it out in no time. He was very helpful. Oh their chips are the freshest, and go great with queso or guacamole. My wife loves their pineapple salsa. I'm not sure you can get that anywhere else, though I still prefer the roasted tomato. Choices are a good thing! Also: they have tacos, and salads, all with steak, chicken, carnitas, la tinga, or veggie, and try the fish tacos for something different. read more

The options we're excellent for folks with food allergies. Unfortunately, they were unstaffed and we waited 15 minutes in line to order. We had two nachos and two bowls. The beans (maybe two teaspoons worth) and meat on the nachos was very skimpy. My family of four all had indigestion afterward and we do not plan to go again as a result. How do people actually eat this? We decided to branch out and try something new and not only was the food incredibly overpriced priced for tiny portions, but everything lacked any flavor whatsoever. Tried three different meats, queso, and guac and after taking one bite of each type of taco and one dip of each side we threw it all away. The meats were fatty and tasteless and nothing had any flavor. What a waste of $30. Sad that we spent all that money and the food was so inedible it had to be tossed out. After seeing all the 4 star reviews we decided to give it a shot.   The restaurant cleanliness were okay.   When we approached the order area we should have left when we saw that each item was crusted over.  The black beans, brown beans,  chicken,  spicy chicken, pork, and steak were all crusted and looked as though they had been out for hours with additional crust all around the tops of the plastic bags lining the warming containers.  The Spanish rice was so dry it looked like sand.  My wife ordered chicken tacos and steak tacos.   I asked for a sample of chicken and spicy chicken.. they smelled rancid.   I ordered a steak burrito with cheese, sour cream,  lettuce, tomatoes and pico de gallo and rice. My wife couldn't eat the chicken it was so salty and rancid tasting and smelling.   The steak was tender but it was under cooked as in raw in the middle and it tasted like it had soaked in a salt brine.   I couldn't eat more than a few bites.   The cheese dip was okay,  if a little runny.   The chips tasted bitter as though fried in old unfiltered oil.  The staff acted as though they would rather be anywhere else.   Not sure if it was their age,  or if they really didn't care.  I asked if they had anything fresh coming out and the counter people said no.. not until the existing product was used. I asked how long the items had been on the line.   She replied that they had been out since noon.   The current time was 7pm.  We've spent the past 14 hours extremely ill and will not be back. read more

And yet another restaurant opens in the Providence area at Mount Juliet. I don't fully understand what the draw is for these small, local chains here. Now, I'm not complaining (don't get me wrong) but I have to tell you that there are so many choices in this area that I don't understand how any business person can see the value in opening a property here. (ATTENTION small business owners - call me before you open a restaurant in Mt. Juliet!) Again I'm not complaining, to the contrary I'm glad that BCB has arrived. I've heard many people compliment the restaurant from visits around the city. Having grown up on the West Coast I'm quite familiar with this type of burrito. While I can't say that it's my favorite style I do like it when it's done right. And I would have to say that the folks at BCB have done it right. I didn't know that when I had arrived for dinner BCB was just open for its first day. As you know from some of my other reviews, I think it says a lot about a restaurant when they are overstaffed on their first day. This tells me that the management/ownership is serious about making a good first impression. I'm happy to say that they did a great job on my very first visit on their very first day of business. On a whim, I had the fish tacos Baja style. This is probably the last thing that I order on any menu anywhere but for some reason I felt compelled to try it out. It looked like BCB had done a great job with everything else so hey, lets go for it! Let me tell you that the fish tacos did not disappoint. I didn't mind the 10 min. wait for the fish to be prepared from scratch. As promised, the whitefish was very moist and tender, flavorful, with just a light crispiness on the outside. Three of these tacos for $6.99 was a treat. If BCB is known for their Baja style fish tacos I know exactly why. My two kids picked from the children's menu. This was perfect since my older son tends to order off of the adult menu - typically leaving half of his food which means that effectively I end up paying double for it. One chicken burrito, and a two-taco plate later my kids were enthusiastic about returning to the place. My younger kid ordered mushrooms on one of his tacos and was charged an extra $.49 which I thought was a little excessive for the four mushroom slices that were included. My other kid had guacamole on his burrito which set me back $.99 - this brought his meal up to five bucks for the burrito, chips, small drink, and access to the salsa bar. All of this food was served hot and fresh with great flavor combinations and the salsas were prepared from scratch and equally as impressive. Thank you, God of salsa for parting the red seas and bestowing upon BCB your salsa making wisdom. These salsas alone will keep me coming back. Let's go ahead and admit that BC is a Chipotle knockoff... yeah I said it. While BCB does a great job of combining flavors and serving quality meats with fresh ingredients they don't use the same quality as Chipotle - I'm really OK with this I just mention it because BCB charges Chipotle prices. Specifically, Chipotle uses naturally raised meats and I'm all for paying for quality but would have given BCB 6 stars if I'd paid 3 dollars less. if there's really only one thing I could change about BCB it would be that I would throw every corn tortilla from Mission Tortilla Company out into the street and buy a locally produced corn tortilla. This was probably the only thing that I didn't like, but considering everything else it was a minor flaw. The corn tortillas were not heated (to me that translates as raw) and had a shelf life of six months making them stiff, hard, and rubbery (don't go there...). Okay, one more thing that I kind of didn't like - For whatever reasons all of the tacos and burritos were very wet causing serious issues with the tortillas. Normally, being too wet is not an issue for me but I didn't like the fact that my tacos and the burrito became a salad before I was half done. Again, this is very minor because -Damn- they were pretty tasty. [keep it up guy who was being trained] I really hope that Blue Coast Burrito can stay in business at this location considering the multiple choices in the Providence area and its poor location. BCB does a great job at delivering a pretty authentic California burrito with some great salsas and guacamole to accompany the flavorful meats. The fruit tea is interesting, and the dessert choices (which I have yet to try) looked very appealing. Two kids meals, three fish tacos, in a regular sized tea set me back almost $19. That is a little bit pricey to make this a regular meal for me but I am looking forward to enjoying a good burrito on occasion in Mt. Juliet... FINALLY! read more
