I have never been inside this restaurant and never experienced their service but as far as takeouts-this place is great-sushi, dumplings, general chaos-you name it. The only incident I had is when I found hair in my dumplings... which was(to say the least) disgusting, stuff in the kitchen should keep their hair covered at all times. After dining in twice, I'm upgrading to 5-stars. The service is friendly and the kitchen is incredibly fast. The plating is elevated and last but not least, the food is superb. Favorite dishes so far are the Sambal shrimp (hard to find in this area) and the Peking duck. The shrimp are jumbo and tender. The skin on the duck is perfectly crispy. I like their mushu beef....very flavorful, the beef was cooked just right (tender and juicy), and good amount of meat and veggies. What I didn't like is there Pad Thai....not a fan at all. I ordered food for home delivery for the first time from The Blue Ginger. The food was of very poor quality, varying from totally unsalted to badly over salted. The Orange Beef was described as hot and spicy, and it was neither. The beef was very heavily breaded and did not taste of meat at all. The Mandarin duck pancakes were mostly bean sprouts, scallions, with very little duck, very salty and swimming in soy sauce. The remainder of the food was of equally poor quality. Definitely one of the worst restaurants I've been to. Kani salad looked wilted and tasted oily, rancid and fishy. I had to down an ice cold coke to keep the nausea away. The noodles we ordered were extremely bland no taste what so ever just spicy. But they were freshly made if that counts for anything at this point. Krab Rangoon dipping sauce was straight from a bottle. All Red food coloring, absolutely awful taste, and far too sweet. The sushi was just average. After reading such rave reviews, I decided to go drive across town and pick up my food (why wait an hour and then some when I could get it in 20 minutes there and back)! It turned out to be just bland noodles, although thanks for the decent amount of beef. just give my dish some flavor. Move on to what is to be the creme de la creme part of dinner. The volcano roll. Shrimp and crab tempura with avocado rolled with 3 different kinds of tobiko (red, black and orange) and three different sauces. Yummy right?!?. Nope. Strike 3 XXX. There was a dusting of tobiko, true dusting. Like scrap the bottom of an empty dish, throwing the last bits instead of cracking open a new jar (or three). SMH, thinking this was what I truly looked for and where's my tobiko. At least hide the fact your cheap and stingy by putting the 3 sauces on the sushi!! Nope, they put the 3 into that little container they use for dipping sauce (yeah, not even one with soy sauce for the sushi, gulp) and it's a gelatinous gloop of goop. I just couldnt. The air is out of my sail. Biggest waste of money and hugest disappoint. safe to say, I wont be returning. Better of making it myself. Tried them when they first opened at this new location and the food and sushi were very good and fresh. Just ordered a second time and I am not impressed. The sushi is lackluster and my daughter won't eat the sweet and sour chicken. After tasting it, I don't really blame her. These are definitely not fresh or high quality ingredients. We have lived in Stamford for a year and a half now. Coming from NYC and Westchester we were used to Chinese food delivery. Our house is in the sticks so delivery from Blue Ginger is not possible. However, this place rocks. The food is inventive and all the dishes taste different, Yes, that's the way Chinese food is supposed to be. This is the best Japanese food in Fairfield county by far! They closed when they were on Shippan Avenue and that was a sad day! Although perhaps better known for its sushi bar and Pan Asian offerings, the real crown jewel is the Chinese menu (only available in Chinese -- ask for a translation and their recommendations).
