    Calabash chicken

Normally don't write negative reviews, but this one is needed. We rarely eat here and now I remember why. This place was filthy. Cob webs in the bathroom, rusted trash cans and filthy floors and fixtures. Everything is outdated and dirty. Speaking of outdated, they don't even accept debit/credit cards. Cash or check only. The calabash chicken was good, but a lot of my calabash shrimp still had the shell on them and the crust already fell off. Maybe we just had an off night. Service was really good. A sweet young lady took good care of us. For the price, I would rather go to The Flounder or drive 45 min to Blue Ocean in Clinton.

    Flounder & shrimp

The food was really good. I had flounder filet and calabash shrimp. Service was good too. Everyone at table said their food was nice. For the money it was really good. 5 people for $85 View was nice too. Loved the ducks and cats outside !

First time there...the food was delicious. We ordered fried fish and shrimp and the food was not greasy at all. We will return.

A throwback to old time fish camps. They offer a senior menu which is plenty to eat. A to the hushpuppies. I always enjoy eating here.

We came there and they right away, sat us down. We didn't even have to wait for anything and we ordered our food. The servers were outstanding and very hospitality. We ordered a seafood plate linguine and I ordered their burgers that came with fries and we were very satisfied and then my husband wanted to try a dessert because everything else taste wonderful. He really enjoyed the chocolate brownie dessert with ice ice cream. And then we got our BILL! The crazy thing about is that it was so cheap for everything we ordered. Our whole Bill with seafood plate linguine burger with fries and brownie with ice cream was $36 total. We were so shocked we haven't paid this low in such a long time for dinner especially a nice place and we were very satisfied with the meal. After that, I told my husband this is one of our date night places because it's Family budget friendly.

We started with salads and excellent ceviche and "Down South" oysters as we found the pimento cheese and bacon topping to be a fun twist on oysters Rockefeller. We had the 16 and 13 year old in tow and while our kids have open minds and pallets when it comes to food, there were some slight questions about the menu options. There was a kids menu that was standard and I'm sure would accommodate most kids; but, I would say Isla's menu is sophisticated and can be appreciated by a more mature audience. Our 13 year old ordered the shrimp and grits and won the best entree of the night. It's a nice twist using a grit cake as opposed to traditional shrimp and grits but the flavor of the tomato and chorizo gravy along with the texture of the crispy grit cake was an interesting and nice change from the norm. I will definitely go back and try additional entrees. Overall, all the dishes were well put together, well seasoned and paired with a nice wine list that had variety for all tastes. Last, I will say the service was among the best we've had locally. Brandon was attentive, informative and accommodating throughout our evening experience. Thank you to Isla's for a wonderful first experience. I look forward to returning soon!

It was a Saturday night so we weren't sure if a table or bar seats would be available. The incredibly polite hosts said they would see what could be done, and less than 10 minutes later we had a lovely table. The restaurant is exceptionally clean and the staff was the epitomy of professional. There was also live music (a nice bonus), but not loud enough to detract from a conversation. Let me tell ya, if you like seafood get your butt to the Lobster Trap. The oysters were very fresh and delectable. The blackened snapper and coconut crusted halibut were to die for. Seriously one of the better meals of my 42 years. Albeit, somewhere pricy, but honestly well worth it (especially when on vacation). Get on down to the Lobster Trap and you will not regret it. The place always has a nice vibe and the ambience is a seafood vibe with maybe a bit of old bar feel.
